Best TASTING Protein Powder

I've tried every flavor On's has released and my fav. is gotta be mint chocolate, and tropical punch.....really good stuff.....also when i started taking protein a few years back I got this stuff at GNC called "AMPLIFY" by Release or NDS Nutrition.....the taste is AMAZING.....soooo good especially cookies n' cream....but ON's is my protein of choice.


I never knew ON had tropical punch until you posted it. I just bought some on Sat, it was amazing tasting just like juice. I've tried the chocolate, vanilla, strawberry(horrible tasting stuff) and was never impressed with their flavours until now!

For what it's worth, I heard that the ORIGINAL Blair protein (not the **** they're trying to pass as it that's being sold today) was amazing...and that guy didn't even use sweeteners. If anyone is old enough to have tried it, is that true? My uncle swears that nothing has even come close (he used to be a boxer, but he's still working out...he's fifty three, if that tells you how long ago the original Blair mix was out haha)


As far as what I use, I make my own at **************.com...I make a post workout formula of mostly whey and a little hydrolyzed with fructose as my carb source and flax powder. Due to the fructose, I usually make it banana flavored (sometimes, it's raspberry, if I need a break) and I mix it with a little half and half and Ben and Jerry's banana ice cream...yummy! (Hey, a little insulin and fat after a workout isn't exactly a bad idea)

WORD TO THE WISE: Even though Hydrolyzed protein absorbs faster than whey, IT TASTES LIKE DEATH! Don't use a lot of it! (The taste is, in my opinion, what makes it inferior to whey hahaha)

Stay away from the vanilla, I bought it two weeks ago and I am regretting the purchase. Ive tried ON Double rich chocolate which is my personal fav, ON Rocky Road it has a taste that you have to get used to but not awfull, and now ON Vanilla, god the worst off the three if you ask me. Mixed it in water as well as milk and the taste was awful either way.

I just received Cytosport Strawberry and Banana complete whey protein Ive tried it with both water and milk and I have to say good god this is the best tasting protein shake Ive had to date. Mixes great with a shaker cup and thickens up like a shake, I cant wait till my next serving. I never thought that about ON any flavour, not dissing ON as I love their double rich chocolate but even the smell of the container is amazing.

After reading the posts here, I decided to try Muscle Milk in Milk Chocolate Flavor and the Dymatize Elite in Orange Dreamsicle.

I found both a little disappointing. Muscle Milk tasted good but the sugar content seemed to bother me. The Dymatize didn't mix well with water and wasn't creamy or full bodied. Neither one made a good shake in the vita-mix with water and ice cubes.

My staple has been Body Fortress Whey Protein from W@l-M@rt or S@m's. I make shakes in my vita-mix with two scoops and 8 oz. cold water and ice cubes. If I'm using vanilla and want a flavor I add some sugar-free jello in peach or orange. Body Fortress Protein makes the creamiest shakes so I'm finishing off the Muscle Milk and Dymatize and I am going back to buying this brand. I thought I would like the more expensive brands...go figure.

I had Musclemilk in many different flavors like everyone else. Musclemilk is good but makes fat on endo/ meso's too easily. Musclemilk will be yesterdays news in the near future as MASS MEAL by Ergo destroys it in every catagory (except price) ie, taste, mixing, nutrient profile and ingrediants, bloating gas is less, satiety...plus it wont add hardly any fat!! Mass Meal is the standard for gainers... I was blown away by the quality!!!

I haven't really tried any other protein mixes yet, but we'll see how they stack up against this bargain supplement.

Dymatize Mega Milk (vanilla) - Best mix I`ve ever tried and that`s with water. Tastes absolutely amazing and the nutrient profile is extremely well balanced. It`s identical to muscle milk at a fraction of the cost. I will order this again.

ON Casein (chocolate) - Great before bed. One thing that people seem to overlook is that if you are cutting, casein can suppress your appetite for close to 5 hours which makes it great first thing in the morning. At the same time, it`s also excellent at minimizing catabolic effects of cutting. While not so cheap, it does taste great and that`s with just water. It`s not full-on chocolate. Actually, the best description is chocolate marzipan (really!). I will order this again.

I have always been a big fan of ON Whey. Taste is good, protein/serving is ok, and hell, you can't beat their prices.

However, recently I've been giving Apex Nutrition's Max Protein a try, and I've been extremely pleased! Tastes great, and Protein/serving is great. Unfortunately, unless you are getting a discount (which I luckily am) you pretty much have to take out a second morgage on your home to buy Apex products.

is Muscle Milk by Cytosport, by far. I have tried most of the falvors and Banana Creme is the best. It does not have an oversweet, artificial flavor as I would have expected. The banana taste is natural and subtle. Really outstanding. A shake is 350 calories with water though, so it may not be the best choice while cutting.

not really a good protein source as it is a weight gainer. The protein in it is good- the serving size to get the necessary protein amount is too large . This product is a good weight gainer.

Protein powders should be between 75- 85% protein by weight. 2 grams of fat and 2 grams of carbs per serving size.

As you move away from these numbers, you get into meal replacement category. Usually this is a 1:1 or 3:2 ratio carbs : protein

As you move away further so that carbs are greater than grams of protein, you have a weight gainer.
Usually around 2:1 or close to 3:1 carbs: protein.

The products containing MCTs such as muscle milk etc, are something else as well. They do taste good though.

I haven`t tried Muscle Milk but there is really no need to. Dymatize Mega Milk is EXACTLY the same and is half the price. You can also buy it in 5pound cans which is good unless you like having stacks of those 2 pounders layin around. I`m sticking with Vanilla for now. Much creamer and less sweet than the Dymatize vanilla which is starting to get pretty old (it`s sickly sweet). Mega Milk vanilla actually tastes like a vanilla milk shake. . .and that`s just with water. Strongly suggest giving it a try.

I have not tried any other flavour from ON. I wish they had tiny sample bags. I buy the huge bags and it would suck if I payed $90Cdn for a nasty flavour especially since Ive read a few bad reviews about at least some of the other falvours. One of the ones that didnt get a bad review so far is the Choclate Mint I think.

BSN lean dessert is really good!!! i cant choose a favorite flavor cause they are all good. ive tried banana nut bread, whipped vanilla cream and cinnamon roll. the only problem with it is the nutrition. i think it is fine for a preworkout shake. for a little taste of heaven, mix it in oatmeal.

I've only tried a few, but my favorite is definatley Six Star Advanced Whey Protien Chocolate Flavored. To tell you the truth, I actually enjoy the taste, as opposed to the others I've tried, which had very unappealing flavors. I really enjoy this drink and look forward to it every day. It doesn't just taste good for a protien drink, but for any drink in genneral. I'd pick it over hersheys syrup any day.

been browsing for several months as I have finally gotten enough determination and discipline to get into a pretty good 5-day-per-week workout routine.

I am thinking about doing the BSN Mass Stack and was wondering what a good-tasting, EASY mixing protein is that is LOW in glutamine? I currently use ON 100% Whey, which I think is very good and mixes unbelievably easy. But BSN says to try keeping glutamine intake down to not offset their Nitrix product.

Could anyone suggest a low-glutamine protein for me?

Aye, aye... I second that. I personally like the Lemon Tea, but for me, I have to add a lot of water... but it's me. I hated Apple Ecstasy, but it's perfect for those who literally LOVE green apple so much they can't live without it. Caribbean Cooler is, IMO, OK. Crystal Sky reminded me of blue raspberry flavor, so it was pretty good. Lemonade, I'm going to have to try again, because last time I had it I felt was a bit too lemony for me... and I liked Strawberry Kiwi... don't forget Very Berry Cherry... totally awesome.

For those of us who are NOT trying to build mass, here are one's I've tried and my opinions... I've already given my Syntrax Nectar opinions above... Keep in mind... I'm one to buy more than one kind and flavor of protein so as not to quickly get sick of stuff... I can switch it up... I buy 5 lbs often, also. Here are my other opinions:

Isolate:

Natures Best Isopure
Chocolate: It was pretty good, but after drinking if for a while, got me sick. Not too bad in milk, in water wasn't bad either, but the protein taste was more prominent
Strawberry: Pretty good, again, you could taste the protein

Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino
Really tasty... even better in milk! Mind you... I'm talking skim milk... Also... I got sick of it. Again... this is just me. I wonder how it would taste with Silk Soy Milk... Hmmm...

ON:

Used to drink vanilla... parents liked it, but always thought, protein is protein... switched to 100% Natural Whey... Vanilla and Chocolate are pretty good... a bitch to mix well... unless it's in Silk Soy, then it's not as difficult and tastes pretty awesome... also makes them thicker

I just recenently started taking protein shakes so I've only tried 2 different kinds.

The first one that I tried was Six Star chocolate mixed in milk and I thought it tasted great. I just got ON's chocolate in today and it's also very good, a bit to rich on the chocolate flavor for my taste but still tasty.

I've been a lurker for a while, but I've learned a lot from you guys. Anyway, I too am a huge fan of Muscle Milk any flavor. Great stuff, Its a bit fatty though. I just ordered some AST VP2 to start mixing with it to half my Muscle milk, and add some bonus excellent protein isolate from the VP2. I'll let ya'll know how that tastes. I plan on mixing Choc. Vp2 with Cookies and creme MM. We'll see.

Just tried it, Syntrax Cappuccino is hands down the best protein EVER! Great in milk or water. I add bulk Maca and Avena Sativa and Alpha-GPC to mine, WOW! Perfect in the morning or before bed.

I still like Syntrax Lemonade to add sour bulk powders too. Fuzzy Navel is good mixed in Orange Juice.

so far the best i've tasted is PVL's whey gourmet. Thick & rich although made with water.
*sigh, drawback is it's not fully isolates and just a moderate protein level.
