Ya, ON 100% is good stuff. A mix of whey isolate and concentrate (dunno exactly the proportions). Best? That's a very personal choice (it's not my fav., but I find it decent; many consider it the best whey protein for the buck, at least). No added fats or carbs (a la Muscle Milk).

Cookies and Cream update: ISS Complete Whey Power- decent, maybe a 7/10. Smooth, not too overpowering, perhaps even too subtle a flavor with emphasis (ISTM) on cream flavor. Perhaps might be optimal mixed with some Cytosport Complete Whey Protein C'n'C, which I found to be a bit too heavily flavored with a bit of an off accompanying taste when taken straight.

I actually love drinking my protein! It's the Cytosport Complete Whey in 'cocoa bean' flavor. I would actually agree with tintinet that the Cytosport tastes really great, but is a bit strong.....so instead of mixing a scoop with 8oz of liquid like the jug suggests, I mix a heaping scoop with like 16 or 20oz of liquid, and it tastes bomb as hell!

That's my experience anyway, it needs more liquid or less powder to taste like it should because the taste is simply too strong in the dose they recommend. I give the taste of the product a solid 9.

Dymatize mint chocolate. Two scoops with 1.5 cups 1% milk and 8 ice cubes. Throw it in the freezer. For those that like to munch on something in front of the tube before bed. From the freezer into the microwave for about 60 seconds or until desired texture. Eat with a spoon as if you are eating icecream. As my young daughter would say, scrumpshilicious.

Musclemilk by Cytosport is no doubt the best tasting. And Cytogainer, by the same company, comes in a close second. Evopro, there predominately casien blend, also isn't bad. It does have that casien aftertaste though. My favorite flavour is the Mint-Choclate but there are manyu I haven't tasted. They have something like 30 flavours.

I've been searching for the ultimate in C'n'C flavored whey.

So far, I've tried the following:

Cytosport's Complete Whey- not bad, but a bit over the top, IMO, as it has a bit of an accompanying flavor note that gets old by the end of the serving.

Iron-Tek's Essential Whey: Subtle flavoring, also with a bit of an accompanying flavor, but less intense than the Cytosport.

Still pending: PVL Whey Gourmet- dang hard to come by in the US for a reasonable price.

ON Whey cookies and cream is the best tasting thing I have ever had! Normally I had to mix other protein with different stuff other than just water... Not with this stuff! I drink it with just water and love it!

MM strawberries and banana is not that great. Tastes more like some kind of medicine like pepto. :)

When it was called "Simply Whey" I did not like it, but I am almost certain that the formulation was improved when it changed first to "MyoPro" and now to "100% Whey". Yeah, if you don't mind the 8 feet of foam it produces. That stuff does taste OK, but the foam it produces when you mix it is the most irritating thing in the WORLD. You get to drink like 10 oz's, and then have 10 oz's of foam. You wait 5 minutes to let the foam disapate and then you can drink another oz. Wait another 5 minutes another oz.... etc. It mixes a tad bit better in milk, but still foamy as hell!

Every since IDS changed their formula, their protein has tasted like absolute ass. No lie. Ass! And not a sexy super models clean ass. A bodybuilders ass! Their protein used to be the absolute best tasting protein hands down. Then late last year they changed the formula and bam! It tasted like bodybuilders ass. Vanilla Cinnamon is still OK tasting, but like I said, overly foamy. Any other flavor makes you gag when you drink it.

I like NOW brand whey protein blend(ion-exchanged isolate, microfiltered concentrate) Dutch Chocolate flavored. It's nice too because the cholestrol is filtered out. Plus its got a good blend of amino acids, all of which are listed on the container.

I just bought the ON strawberry and it's very good tasting. The key is you have to mix this with milk or it won't taste right. The artifical sweetner taste comes out if you mix with water. My vote goes to ON.

I am new to the game of protein powders and bought PVL Whey gourmet chocolate cocunut cream pie this one tastes awesome. I bought it because it was on sale ($20 CDN) at my local GNC, roughly half the price. And a lot of people on this forum were raving about PVLs products. It tastes great in water and even better with 2% milk. I think you guys should give this one a try. Not to say its the best, its the best out of the 4 Ive tried. Believe me I am very discriminating for taste as you will see below.

The flavours I would definitely avoid as I also tried these ones in water of course.
(PVL, Natural Whey Gourmet Strawberry Banana Smothie) > Doesn't taste that good. All though I get the feeling if you were to make a typical smoothie of bananas/strawberries/blueberries/orange juice this would taste good. Too me it tasted more like a strawberry shake. I would not buy it again. Thank god for the individual packs.

(PVL, Whey Gourmet Radical Raspberry Smoothie) > Don't waste your money, didn't like this in water. Just shoved it down quickly. Trust me don't touch this one.

(Optimum Nutrition, 100% Whey Protein Tropical Punch) > Don't waste your money on this one either. This one is by far the worst, Dont Dont Dont Dont ever by this one. I don't know what they were thinking by releasing this product. It tastes awful. Now I got a 5LBS tub of this stuff sitting at home. I bought this at SND Canada in Brampton. The lady there was extemely nice and told me I could return it if I didn't like it, of course if I only took one sccop. Any advice on any other optimum nutrition flavours that I could exchange this tropical punch for. Im leaning towards chocolate Mint.

Please keep the suggestions to optimum nutrition and PVL whey gourmet. And Im no longer going to experiment with any fruit flavoured powders that taste like tang or gatorade. When is the last time you drank milky juice. But if you have any genuine sugggestion please pass them on. I would appreciate it.

Just an update: I am very impressed I just exchanged my ON tropical punch for ON chocolate Mint. This is my new favourite flavour. I tried it in milk it tastes like a real shake. And it has very little aftertaste and it disolves awesome in a shaker. The mint flavour is less prevalent but the drink is very chocolaty. Anyone who wants to try this flavour can't go wrong with it. I look forward to my next shake tomorrow after my workout.

Funny you mentioned this one. I've been a religious user of ON's Chocolate Mint. It's great stuff. I've tried many different protein powders and this was the best one I've come across. Finally, I branched out after reading this thread. There were alot of positives reviews for Dymatize's Butter Cream Toffee so I ordered a 5 pounder. I received it Friday and let me tell you, great tasting. It's right up there with Chocolate Mint. I'm still not sure which I like best, maybe the Dymatize, but it all depends what type of mood I'm in. Do I need that chocolate fix or not. I'm curious if the other Dymatize flavors are as good.

Received a promotional package at my gym this afternoon and went back tonight to do cardio, not really because I had too, but because I wanted another sample. Has anyone tried the Jay Robb Whey Protein? The chocolate and vanilla are both very good - even mixed with just water it still tastes great. It's harder to find, though. The only place I've seen the Jay Robb brand is at Whole Foods (a health food supermarket).

I have been using this for 6 months or so, in the strawberry flavour. Loved it and always ordered it in the 10lb bags after the first try.

Just got my latest order through from BB.com, and it appears they have changed the strawberry flavour BIG TIME. It is absolutely rancid, sickly sweet with terrible aftertaste. And I am stuck with a whole bag of this stuff to finish. So next time, I will be ordering something else.

A real shame, as I really did love this stuff. Why the HELL did they change it when it was so good? If it aint broke, don't "fix" it!!!!

For taste I prefer Muscle Milk but ON 100% Whey is awesome and packs fewer calories and carbs. Chocolate Mint, Rocky Road, Cookies N' Cream, and Vanilla Ice Cream are all awesome flavors. Now is it the best tasting? NO , but it works!! I guess I will take a product that works over taste!

I have tried a fairly comprehensive range of powders and I'd have to say that ON Double Chocolate is vastly overrated. The best I have had is MRM's Massive Whey in Chocolate. So creamy and delicious. Another good one, is an Australia made product, Hydroxy Ripped by Vital Strength, again in chocolate, with a very smooth flavour and stats similar to ON's. I find ON's is a little biscuitty.

I've been in the nutrition industry for quite some time. There is alot of garbage with fancy labeling on the package on the market. Most protein on the market today could not claim true to label. The main reason are the cost. It is exspensive to produce a high quality protein. Most whey protein's claim 100% whey which may be true. The problem is the quality or grade of that whey. The higher the grade the more exspensive it is. For profit purposes it is much cheaper to produce a protein with a low grade whey. Some produce protein with as low as 10% protein in there product, which they still can claim 100% whey. With quality you want a good tasting protein.
I believe in building healthy cells. What builds healthy cells?. A propper amount of good protein. I want what is best for my family and myself. I found a protein in Covington, Wa at Sunshine Corners Nutrition. The owners of the business produce their own protein. It is called Willies TRI-Pro. It is the best I have come across. Two flavor's chocolate and vanilla. It's a proprietary blend by volume of hypoallergenic soy protein isolate, milk protein, filtered whey protein isolateand pure crystaline fructose for a sweetner. Pure vanilla and chocolate. Simple ingredients, great product. All the employees are very knowledgable about all aspects of nutrition. My family which includes three teens all use willies. Nearly 15 pounds a month. I highly recomend it. Thirty six dollars for a five pound bag is a great deal for a blend protein.

I have ON Gold Chocolate here at the office, which I like a lot, it mixes VERY easily, unlike just about anything else.

At home I have HigherPower Vanilla, Chocolate and Berry. I like HP, but it doesn't mix as easily as the "micronized" ON. I do like the fact that it's cheaper though and the amino profile is similar. I'll probably wind up using it primarily.

Before bedtime I have Extreme Labs Lean Mass strawberry cream, since it was a good blend of proteins, including casein, and it tastes great (I am a big fan of strawberry). It mixes the worst of the three, similar to HP, but takes a lot longer than ON.

I LOVE Dymatize Elite Whey.... that's the best tasting protein I've found yet. I have only had the Orange Dreamsicle and it was awesome. I just ordered the Berry Blast from BB.com yesterday. It mixes really well and doesn't get all foamy like the others do if I decide to make a smoothie out of it. No sh*tty after taste either. If you have a hard time finding good Whey, I definitely recoemmend you try Dymatize Elite Whey!!!!!!

I've tried most of the popular protein powders and my favorite, by far, is Dorian Yates Approved -- Pro Peptide.

I put some oatmeal in a bowl and pour a little milk over it. Then I mix in a serving of Pro Peptide until it reaches a fairly thick consistency. I devour then repeat step one. I do go through batches of the stuff rather quickly, however. You can get pretty creative, too. Mix in some honey (but not too often) or some fruit and it can be quite addictive.

i agree, micell edge is a great tasting powder that provides better nutrition than muscle milk. chocolate peanut butter is awesome!

Also, the rootbeer is good too. I've put a tablespoon of SF Jello pudding in it and it's like a rootbeer float!! BB.com stopped carrying this flavor but you can still order it from others. Excellent taste, excellent profile,, excellent price, you can't go wrong!!

I've tried every flavor On's has released and my fav. is gotta be mint chocolate, and tropical punch.....really good stuff.....also when i started taking protein a few years back I got this stuff at GNC called "AMPLIFY" by Release or NDS Nutrition.....the taste is AMAZING.....soooo good especially cookies n' cream....but ON's is my protein of choice.

I'm a newbie at the supllements and I was wondering how I should take my creatine ethyl ester, the reason i'm asking this question is b/c I was taking no-xplode for a while and had to discontinue it b/c it kept me up all night while I was on it and now i'm taking higher power's cee and I take it pre workout and post workout, but right after i take it post workout I drink my protein shake too, and no-xplode said dont take it within an hour of eating or taking a protein shake, I was wondering if my cee was the same way b/c no-xplode has creatine in it too, and which one I should take first right after I get done working out??????????? Also I was wondering if everyone thought cee was the best creatine, like better than the monohydrate and micronized????

Same here. I got my PVL Chocolate PB 4 days ago and it's a kick ass product. Wayyy better than ON and dymatize. Milk chocolate should be even better i think.

Pvl's products are amazing, you can't go wrong with any of the flavours. I've tried the raspberry it tastes like jello. The vanilla tastes exactly like ice cream, the chocolate like ice cream, and the Orange creamsicle...yup exactly like ice cream especially when mixed with orange juice. The strawberry banana was the only one that I thought was o.k. Pina colada is very good too!

1. Designer in Strawberry - Not so nice, High Price! :(
2. Prostar Whey in Strawberry - Quite nice, I usually add some splenda/sweetener/sugarfree strawberry syrup, taste just like milk shake yumm
3. On 100% Whey Gold in Cookies N Cream - The first shake is nice cause i'm getting sick of other brand very common flavours (ban, choc, vanilla, straw) but after a few shakes I'm starting to get sick of it :( and this particular flavour is higher in sodium level (compared to other flav) I still have 3/4 full of 5lb tub :( aaaargh I wish I had bought the rocky road instead, heard many good review on that flav
