Time to throw in my humble Opinion.
After trying several Shakes in the past i've just had my delivery of ON 100% Whey.
The Cookies and Cream is by far the best Protein Shake i've tasted.

Here's my take (based on what I've tried):
#1: VPX Zero-Impact (or the old Micellean Iso) Graham Cracker
#2: BSL Strawberry
#3: GF Pro (all flavors rock)
#4: Strawberry Kiwi VPX or Syntrax Nectar
#5: Sustain
#6: Prolab Cinnamon Oatmeal Protein Component

I've tried almost every type of protein powder out there, ranging from ON (Optimum) 100% whey protein, Isopure, BSN- Lean Dessert, etc all the way to Syntha-6 (BSN). As far as best tasting, BSN's Synth-6 hit the spot. it only has about 24g of Protein per serving and is about 200 calories (50 from of which are fat-2g of sat. fat) but the up side is that it contains 6 different types of proteins in one. Ranging from fast acting whey protein to slowly digested Caesin, its got it all. Unlike the others, it has a thick smooth taste that doesn't stick in the back of your throat, even when mixed wth water it still taste good and has Bioactive Utilization Enzymes so that you do feel bloated and left with gas. In my opinion, BSN's Syntha-6 wins in terms of overall taste.
P.S.- If you wish to find a protein shake that satisfies your taste buds, simply look at the amount of Carbs, thats what usually adds a thicker and better taste to any product.

Its not too thick yet not too thin, at least wen mixed with skim 6-8 oz of skim milk. it only takes about 20 seconds of shaking and for it 120 calorie count and 10 calories of fat with just 3g of carbs...its worth it

For most flavors, ON is the best and when mixed with milk (and oats, preworkout) it really goes down well. I choose Banana cream since there is really nothing to easily compare it to, the flavor doesn't contradict what I would expect. The only ON flavor I can't stomach is the strawberry. Chocolate mint is a bit of a disappointment too...
MET-RX vanilla, in my opinion, is the best tasting and easiest to mix with other ingredients to flavor. Try it with OJ some time for an Orange Julius.

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey is my favorite. I've taken Vanilla because it is the closest to neutral taste where I can add fruit or some sugar free flavored syrup (I'm diabetic). But I also drink their Chocolate Mint which is my favorite. Everyone has their own taste. Some people like fish and some people don't so people saying Optimum Nutrition is the worse is going by their own taste.

While that is true that taste is subjective, that's a terrible analogy. We are effectively comparing two of the same thing, ie store brand canned tuna vs a fresh tuna filet. :p

You're reading way to much into this. Maybe I should've made it more simpler by saying it is all about preference and taste. Everyone's tastebuds are different. BTW I like both canned tuna and fresh tuna. When I want a nice tuna melt, I buy canned tuna in olive oil. When I want tuna with my salad, sashimi grade tuna is the best w/ a little miso dressing. You're right taste is subjective. BTW...you look great in your pose, good luck in your competition in April.

I just got some BSN Lean Dessert Protein (Whipped Vanilla), its ok, nothing special in my opinion. I got it because I had a discount coupon for one of those supplement stores (I would never buy from there otherwise, but with the redemption coupon it worked out ok). I still think that Labrada Low Carb MRP's are BY FAR the bet tasting protein powder I have ever had. Lower carbs then most, nice amount of protein, low fat, and it tastes damn good. All of em too, vanilla, chocolate, chocolate lover's, and tropical. I've never tried muscle milk (too high in fat), but with that high of a fat content I would think that it takes like heavy cream, and being that I'm a chef that might be a good thing.

For people following a low fat and/or lowcarb diet, Sustain is a superior option to almost any protein on the market (esp Muscle Milk) and also a better choice than adding peanut butter.

We completely agree. They need to come back to reality on the price of MANY of our products as they can simply be had much cheaper elsewhere. :(
I love bb.com, I've learned a ton here, and I don't like recommending people go elsewhere, so for those interested, call bb.com up and demand a pricematch.....eventually they may hear the calls and actually lower the price.
well, i haven't reached my 20 mark yet but, here's the ones i tried.
Muscle Milk Cookies and Cream - Great
ISS Micellar Matrix Banana - Decent (tastes like a fake banana)
ON Whey Rocky Road - Good (doesn't really remind me of rocky road, but it's still good)
ON Whey Strawberry - Good (i dunno why, but i like it.)
ON Whey French Vanilla Creme - Odd, but Good.
ISS Micellar Matrix Chocolate - Bad (doesn't even taste like chocolate...taste is a bit closer to crap than chocolate)
ON Whey Chocolate Mint - Bad (tastes like chocolate with toothpaste and a metallic finish)
DS Sustain Peanut Butter Fudge - Own but unopened. Will try after I finish my last two scoops of ISS Micellar Matrix
XF Ultra Peptide - Own but Unopened. Will try after I finish my last two scoops of ISS Micellar Matrix

Surprisingly, GNC's protein powder (100% Whey Meal or whatever its called) was actually pretty good. I got the chocolate caramel in the smallest package, I think it had 15 or 17 servings for $12, but they have some thing going on about buy one get the second half off. I just wanted to get some protein powder to tide me over till my shipment came in, cause I find that stores are horribly overpriced compared to online. Hey everyone, my supplement store near town is selling On Gold Standard 5lbs tubs for a $26.99 special. I've been dying to try out Mint Chocolate, is this good tasting? So far I've been using O.N. Classic Whey (for 21.99 5lbs tub) Vanilla Cream which taste like Rice Kripsy Treats (even w/ water), but I'm looking for an equally tasty O.N. powder. I have my eyes set on Mint Chocolate but I don't want to be dupped like when I bought the Cookies and Cream flavor.
Your opinions?

You know lots of protein powders have carbs in them that aren't MRPs, what makes it an MRP in my opinion is the micronutrients and there is usually a more complex blend of proteins. I take ON Complete Protein Diet, almost completely protein and it's an MRP, but with more micros than ON 100% Whey. If it comes in a tub, is powdered, and generally used as a protein supplement -- whether pwo or mrp, it's a protein powder in my book, you might not like my book, that's okay.

I've never tried either, and I was set on getting the ON from what I've read on here. Lately everyone's talking about this Dymatize Elite - so I just ordered both for my Velocity Diet ... How much high fructose corn syrup is in the Matrix? And (sorry dumb question) what is the big downside to this? - is it major? I wouldn't think the amount would be so high as to be that bad.... could be wrong though.

I used ON for a couple of months, and it tasted horrible especially compared to Six Star Advanced Hardcore Whey Protein. Six Star has no bad aftertaste either, and you dont have burps that taste like your whey protein unlike Strawberry ON which lasts a bit after drinking.
i think six star is the best tasting by far, the Chocolate.
especially when you mix it with a cup of milk and 1 yogurt of your liking, then you have yourself a nice post workout shake. While ON may be the most popular, i think six star is a step above them. Its a lot easier, way easier to obtain it as well since they sell it at Walmart, Also GNC, and vitamin world, but its a rip everywhere but walmart, it sells for about $15.37

Muscle Milk is by FAR the best tasting supplement out there.
My biggest beef is the nutrition facts - they put in a decent amount of carbs (12g) and fat (18g) compared to the protein (32g).
HOWEVER, most of that fat is comprised of MCTs, which are awesome for you and don't get stored as fat, and the carbs mostly come from the fruits/berries they put in. So its amazing if you're bulking, less good if you're cutting.

I have had both Its very good PVL is very very good I would say its a tie for PB flavor. You cannot go wrong with either
How does this rate with PVL's chocolate peanut butter? I discovered that one a few years ago and I think I must be on tub 20 by now... the stuff is phenominal - mind you I've only ever had it mixed with oatmeal.

CytoSport Complete Whey : Vanilla Bean flavor.
I just got my 10lbs bucket today and I am in love with the flavor, nothing has ever come close to it so far.
Very light vanilla taste and not sweet tasting. Exactly what I was looking for, this way I don't get sick of the taste.

Great, thanks for the advice on that, I may just have to give Sustain a try. Oddly enough I'm not a huge fan of the other PVL flavors and they mix horrible in water I find, but that PB one...it's gold! :p

Sustain in water? I love ON's Milk Chocolate but after 20lbs of it, I am willing to give something new a try. I just don't use milk, water only.

I mix Dymatize's Butter toffee cream and Chocolate mint in water and I think it tastes fantastic. I like it really sweet though so I add in a packet of sweetener. (I'm mixing it in about 14 oz. of water too...just one scoop and I don't find it's diluted).
Syntrax's 5.0 Vanilla also tastes phemonimal in just water...very close to a vanilla milkshake in my mind.

I've had Syntrax's 5.0 chocolate in water and I liked it at first but got extremely sick of it quickly. Their vanilla on the other hand is great and I've heard very positive things about cookies and cream.

Yah, I think I tried that one and wasn't the biggest fan with water. So far I have yet to find a really good just straight chocolate flavor. PVL's rich chocolate is pretty good but mixed with oatmeal (very rich tasting though).

In water:
-Syntrax Nectar Apple (BEST I'VE HAD SO FAR IN WATER!)
-PrimaForce Substance WPI Juicy Watermelon
-Perfect Rx Vanilla and Chocolate (love these MRP's. very thick and tasty!)
-Syntrax Matrix 5.0 Orange Cream
-Protoquest Whey Chocolate (very good for chocolate in water)
-AllMax Nutrition IsoFlex Chocolate (again good for a chocolate)
-Ultimate Nutrition Isopream Strawberry/banana (never had in milk)
-AllThe Whey WPI Orange (taste pretty decent)
In milk:
-********* Nytrowhey Extreme Cookies n Cream
-Dymatize Mega Milk Cookies n Cream (taste AMAZING, but made me gain fat!)
-Perfect Rx Vanilla and Chocolate (love these MRP's. very thick and tasty!)
-Protoquest Whey Chocolate (taste like cocoa)
-AllMax Chocolate (cocoa like taste with real chocolate chips. mmmmm)
Proteins that taste like dirty butt:
-Ultimate Nutrition IsoCool Peach Parfait (absolutely disgusting and horrible after taste!)
-********* Nytrowhey Chocolate (VERY blah and ordinary)
-Next Nutrition Designer Whey (every favor doesn't even compete in taste)
-Dymatize Mega Milk Chocolate (after the GREAT cookies n cream, choc. is poopy butt. Taste funny)

-Syntrax Matrix 5.0 Orange Cream
How strong of a taste was this one? I'm tempted to try it but others have said any orange flavored protein powder is always bad. I have the dymatize orange cream and although I like their other flavors, did not like this one.
I've been wondering if Syntrax's would be different. I know their vanilla is awesome.

The very first MET-RX product from the 1990's was the best ever. I mean it tasted like cake batter, and when blended with milk it was as good as a Cold Stone Ice Cream shake made with their cake batter ice cream!
Unfortunately, they changed fomulas to a new vanilla and then when they returned with a flavor called "Original Vanilla" Met-RX, well it taste nothing like the original. The reason i think has to do with patent issues as Bill Phillips (EAS) helped startup Met-RX and then created the EAS Myoplex Formula from it.
The second best i think is Chocolate Flavored Muscle Milk!
The last best protein i think is Syntha-6 by BSN the Vanilla Flavor.

American Whey Banana Flavor Protein. I was skeptical at first but tried it and it was real good and the biggest surprise , my now ex-gf told me it made me taste sweet! ;) Wasn't sure about that was what did it until my next girl said i tasted like candy! Its not the best protein but it sure is worth the continuous taste testing and making me feel like Van Halen's ICE CREAM MAN...

I think they have an orange as well. I haven't had candy in 10 years...but I know it taste like one of them.:D At least resembles it... I'm not EXTREMELY picky on this topic, but it honestly goes down easy for me.

I've been going with whatever I could get at Wal-Mart or Kroger, and the brands I've tried are Body Fortress, Twinlabs, and Six Star, all in chocolate. The Twinlabs is absolutely delicious with skim milk and two tablespoons of honey postworkout. Like, that could easily be desert.

Interesting approach. I LOVE this powder but have only ever mixed it in water. It's hard to imagine mixing it with chocolate butter. I love the taste of peanut butter and really love chocolate peanut butter, but peanut butter and chocolate with mint...definitely different.
