I've tried almost all the Muscle Milk flavors and like Strawberry the best. Tried ON Vanilla ICe Cream...it's not bad.

I just tried BSN Syntha Vanilla Ice Cream....OMG it is the shiznit! Gonna try the Chocolate and Strawberry next. The only mild drawback is the slight increase in calories.

If you want something sweet go with the Syntha...mixes well too!

I've had almost every flavor of Muscle Milk and I have yet to really dislike one yet. I <3 MM cookies n creme. I just recently bought orange creme and actually liked it a lot...i was really suprised. I will admit their strawberry banana isn't that great--I still went through it pretty fast though.

ON 100% Vanilla sucked ass to me. I can't stand it and I still have like 8lbs left - damnit! Double Choc was good though.

Prolab N-large II - strawberry. Decent but something is missing. Tastes a little like cardboard with a full serving so i only use 1/2 serving. Not as good as MM strawberry but still good for what it is.

Has anyone tried Quattro by Magnum Nutraceuticals? The chocolate Love is pretty tasty. 30 grams of protein per scoop 1.5 carbs. they say they have 4 different kinds of protein in it so it all breaks down at different time intervals. Marketing? Bought a tub taste is excellent. Kinda of pricey tho.

Ive been buying supplements since the original Hot Stuff and when MetRx came in 2 different size tubs because they couldnt figure out how to combine them. So ive probably tried everything out there at some point.

Going just on taste and not taking into account the quality of the protein..the best ive tried recently is PVL. The chocolate mint, peanut butter and the cookies&cream are just outstanding.

I dont get the hype about ON, i find theirs tastes average. I tried Ergophrams Mango and it was horrible, didnt mix well at all and taste was poor, although i do like their Muscle Mass MRP. I also like Muscle Milk but its a bit high in fat for my diet.

I just ordered a small tub from All The Whey to try out and ill probably try a few more that were recommended in this thread.

ON Whey's Cookies 'N Creme tasted great (although smelled weird). The Double Dutch Chocolate smells like Nequik and tastes awesome too. Another protein I like was Myoplex's Strawberry. I didnt have as much in the sense of gains on Myo as on the ON but it tasted great. I have had a shake of Syntrax (sp?) Nectar and HATED it. I really couldnt even tell wat flavor it was suposed to be, it might have been cappucino, it tasted like ****ty coffee if that helps.

MuscleMilk, on the other hand, has just as much protein and lots of calories. Maybe the load of calories will drive some people away from this product, but it's great for me since I do a good deal of cardio work every day. I haven't tried any other flavor besides chocolate, which, when mixed with milk and a little bit of ice cream, tastes just like a chocolate shake.

If not, ON 100% Gold is the best bang for your buck. Mix it with skim milk; never with water. And stay away from the Vanilla. It's not so hot

I've always been a Biotest Low-Carb Grow (Choc.) user. Recently they renamed it Metabolic Drive, raised the price and decreased the amount of product in the jar. Plus they were out of stock for a while.

I found Syntrax Nectar on sale at the Vitamin Shoppe for $22.95 so, I tried a few flavors. Definitely like the Lemon Tea and Fuzzy Navel best.

I can't work out why people love Dynamatize Whey Butter Toffee Flavour - I bought a 2lb tub and it's ****! I followed the instructions and it tastes so artificial, not creamy like I thought it would just tasted like I'm eating pure artificial flavour.

I find Nutrabolics Isogainer cinnamon vanilla has the be the best tasting protien I have had. Also another thing that tastes great (one of my own concoctions) is taking 2 scoops of ON wheys vanilla protien, 1/4 cup of Irish toffee cappuccino mix by Tim Hortons, and mixing it with 400 ml of ice cold water. I think for 100% whey protein, ON is hands down great. Now, if ON 100% whey wanted to add more sugar, more fat, and more carbs to their product, of course it would be better tasting and would compare.

2. Prolab 100% Pure Whey (Chocolate and Strawberry are good)

This is based on taste and mixability. I've gotten good results from both the ON and the Prolab. I'd probably recommend the ON because I think it's more g protein per serving.

First of all. I just wanted to say I've found a lot of great information on this site, so thanks to everyone for all the great posts. The only thing I wanted to say, or ask I guess, has to do with the juices I buy at the gym I go to -- Gold's Gym. Up until I joined back in February, the only powders I've tried all tasted, as many have said, very chalky, and gritty flavored. And then I tried these shakes at the gym, they're the best flavored drinks I've ever had (Who knows, maybe they're not really weight gainer drinks at all as they advertise) but, I just can't figure out the brand of powders and syrups they use. And I'm not going to plunk down $5000 to start a franchise. The name of the company is Nutriblendz. Has anyone ever heard of them? And if so, any ideas what powders and syrups they use in their shakes? So far they're the only ones I've liked. Thanks again for all the useful comments. Look forward to reading more.

dymatize supreme whey (cafe mocha)

both are good in taste as well as effectiveness


after ur done with butter cream toffee, try green apple and the banana flavour, both are good, taste is not as good as butter cream toffee but they taste better than other other flavours

I use ON's Natural 100% Whey Protein, no artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners because I can't stand aspartame's aftertaste and I try to avoid anything with artificial flavors and colors.

The strawberry tastes great with milk and a little Splenda. Blended with fresh strawberries or a banana it's a real treat.

I haven't tried vanilla or chocolate yet.

I have nothing against ON and will definitely buy their protein again but it is not the best I've ever had. Ultimate's whey is good, Dymatize Elite is delicious, ATW is great, too. Right now, I am completely satisfied with HP's chocolate. IMO, it it tastes better than ON's chocolate. Maybe because I used ON exclusively for years. The ones that I've mentioned are as good or better than ON as far as taste and value are concerned. It seems like some people here tout ON so much because it is either the only powder they've ever tried or because everyone else always hypes it up. I can honestly say that none of the powders were "head and shoulders" better than the rest in result. So, given the price, I'll stick with HP for a while.

I think the IDS Multi-Pro Whey Isolate is one of the best ones I've tasted every. I've tried Weight Gainer and various other whey protein product and none have had any results. It's probably because of nutrition, due to most protein products does not have very good obsorptions, and need to supplement with other supplements to increase the obsorption.
The whey isolate has a high obsorption rate and therefore more effective for proper muscle growth. I think their best flavor would have to be Banana. it taste just like Banana and you don't taste the protein at all. The Vanilla Cinamon is good too but you can taste the protein a little. Give it a try.

I see I'm not the only one. I was drinking ON 100% Whey Vanilla Ice Cream Gold Standard with spring water and it smelled good and tasted great. Maybe not as rich and delicious as Champion's vanilla Pure Whey Protein Stack, but still great and it mixed alot better and had lactase so I was happy with it.

But I love chocolate most of all, so I bought 5lbs of ON Double Rich Chocolate 100% Whey, and it smelled strange. (Couldn't find the Extreme Chocolate in Canada.) In water, it tasted chocolatey but bad and not sweet at all. And the after-taste, which lasted for hours, was salty, metallic and gross like some wierd chemical-taste. I was surprised. I called the distributor in Canada and they happily gave the store a credit note. Very friendly of ON. I wonder if they realized they had a bad batch of chocolate. So, I'm sticking to 10 pound bags of ON Vanilla Ice Cream Gold Standard 100% Whey which have lactase and aminogen. (The 5 pounders didn't have those enzymes.) Yummy!

I've only tried 4 Protein powders so far. All chocolate flavored. They are:

Designer Whey
Balance Total Balance Drink Mix 40-30-30
ON 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard
ON Pro Complex

The best tasting chocolate flavored whey protein so far is Designer Whey. Even with just water, it still tastes great. It's the chocolatiest of the four. The Total Balance comes a close 2nd. It's rich and sweeter but still good with just water. It's a thicker shake and it probably because it has more egg protein in it which I can taste a bit (I will not know the difference if I had not tasted Designer Whey). I don't use milk because I'm lactose intolerant. I use soy beverage from Trader Joe's called WestSoy Plus which I like a lot. Mixing this with either Designer or Total Balance makes a great tasting protein shake kinda like a McDonald's milk shake but not as thick.

Next I ordered 5.15lbs ON 100% Whey Double Rich chocolate and 4.4lbs Pro Complex Chocolate. Wow, they are huge! I probably should have ordered the 2 pounders because I wanted to try other chocolate flavored brands but the bigger tubs are better values. I plan to take the 100% Whey in between meals and the Pro Complex after a workout and/or before bedtime. Anyway, the ON 100% WP has a more chocolatey taste than the ON Pro Complex but both are not as tasty and rather thin mixed with just water compared to the other two. The ON 100% says artificially flavored while the ON Pro Complex says artificially and naturally flavored but not sure at what ratio (can I assume 50/50?) and also says sweetened with Splenda. Although the Pro Complex is partially naturally chocolate flavored, the Splenda sweetening gives it a weird sweeter taste to it. I can taste the artificial sweetness of the Splenda especially if you mix it with just water. Mixing it with soy milk however masks that taste a bit. Both are good and come close to the chocolateyness (is that a word?) of the other two when mixed with soy milk.

I should say that I prefer ON's 100% Whey over their Pro Complex with regards to taste. I don't think I'll buy Pro Complex again, actually, I didn't know they have Pro Complex Gainer which is the one I would have bought. Pro Complex is also more expensive than 100% WP and even more so when compared with the Pro Complex Gainer which is the cheapest. They also have the 100% Natural Whey chocolate using all-natural flavors and sweeteners (perhaps someone can review if they taste any better). I also found *******************.com which gives you a 5% pricematch guarantee and they sell ON 100% WP Extreme Chocolate which I think is the same as the Double Rich Chocolate unless someone can verify.

It will take a while before I review another chocolate flavored whey protein shake. I'm gonna have to try other flavors like strawberry or i'll get tired of chocolate.

I think Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard Chocolate is the best tasting. My buddy got the cookies & cream flavor, and it's good too. I'm a chocolate fan tho.

In my opinion and mix of ON's 100% Natural Whey and ON's 100% Whey Protein Gold standard tastes awesome in 3:1 mixture. The three fourths of a scoop of the natural whey gives a natural cocoa powder taste and the artificial sweeteners in 1/4 a scoop of regular ON Whey makes it an all around great taste. I feel like it more closely resembles actual chocolate taste when mixed in these proportions.

I received my first order of Syntrax Matrix 5.0 Vanilla. Absolutely delicious - no bitter aftertaste, smooth across the tongue, and very fragrant vanilla aroma when mixed with water. Haven't tried with milk yet though

While I'm now using Dymatize, I gotta give love to Champion Nutrition! Their flavors are pretty damn awesome, especially the "Banana Scream" and their mocha flavor. I'm also a big fan of their Cookies 'n Cream and Tropical Sunrise flavors. All of these mix incredibly with oats =)

i just really really started diggin the taste of ON"S Chocolate whey (altho i liked it)after just about finishing about the whole 5lb tub. Im really stupid, all along i have just been mixing my whey in a glass with water and a spoon.......

Well just last week i decided what the hell and put my 3 scoops+ a little Stevia for extra sweetness and about 6cups water into my blender for pwo, and god damm does blending really make this stuff taste 100% better. Ive been haveing the most delicious huge frothy cold chocolate shakes after my workouts that i actully want to work out just to drink this treat!

Advice for all, always blend your whey if you can, really brings out the frothy goodness.

My next protein soon to be here is Dymatize Elite Cafe Mocha , can't wait to review this one.

I've tried all different kinds of protein, and I have found a favorite... BSN dessert. OMG! This stuff is INCREADIBLE! I have never tasted anything so good in my life! After I bought the Vanilla flavour and fell in love- I ended up buying the other flavours. So far I've tried the Banana nut bread and the chocolate coconut candy bar- And they are better than the vanilla.. But they are BY FAR the best tasting protein I have ever had.

The only down fall is that they are too expensive. I will finish a tub in like, 2 weeks. (16 dollars here on bb.com)

Definently Cytosport's Muscle Milk products. All the flavors are awesome and are great to mix with fruit and juice. My favorite is the Strawberry Milkshake Muscle Milk. Blend it with some water and ice...Just like a strawberry milkshake mmm. I might go make some now. It's not only good as a post workout protein drink but as a meal replacement as well.

Ugh! You sure you haven't tried anything else? Because the very artificial sweetness of chocolate Pro Complex (due to the Splenda) is sickening, I had to mix it with chocolate flavored soy milk. You're missing on the real taste of a chocolate shake.

VPX zero impact chocolate is pretty yummy. I mix it with the bad tasting ON Vanilla Ice Cream and not notice. ON Rocky Road is tasty too, my coworkers love the smell.

I am currently mixing 1/2 Vanilla & 1/2 Chocolate Whey Tech from Vitamin Shoppe. The product has a good analysis, mixes easily with any liquid, and has a pleasant flavor with no after-taste. I mix because either flavor alone is less palatable to me, maybe not for others, but this IS a totally subjective thread. I've done the same with other brands and I like this combo the best so far.
