I decided to start this journal to give myself some accountability. I have been doing this weight loss thing since 2000 and haven't stuck with anything therefore, I haven't had any results. Working out hasn't really been an issue with me,(not quite sure if I'm challenging myself enough) it is the eaing!!! I have such a hard time following an eating plan because I have always been an instant gratification kind of girl. Sometimes I stay out all day and when I come home famished, I want something already prepeared. I'm a fast food type of person. I know it's bad. I joined a 12 week fitness challenge at my gym and haven't done anything since the first week and we are going into week 5. I had out-of-town guest and taking them to food festivals and eating out just really got me off track. My eating hasn't really been atrocious (until recently) I usually do well with eating clean up until around 5 or 6 P.M. then I get terrible sugar cravings. Anyway, I'm 5'4" and I weigh approximately 201 lbs with a body fat % of 38.6. I would like to get down to around 145lbs and lower my body fat into the mid to low 20's.
Anyone have any suggestions or advie for me. I have been doing BFL as far as working out is concerned but I really need a change. (The gym's fitness challenge is basically BFL as well) Haven't been able to get to the gym lately though because they don't have childcare and since my daughter's(who by the way is the blame for my being overweight and she's 5 now) daycare closed..I am stuck working out at home. I will try to keep this going as well. Today I plan to do my Tae bo tape. Hey it's a start!
There are millions of journals but if anyone knows off-hand of some journals where the journaler has a sizeable amount to lose..I would appreciate it.

Hi! Welcome to journaling. I feel for you, it would be very hard to be at home with a little one and not be tempted to snack on the same things as they eat. I am not at home with my toddler but I was getting into the bad habit of picking at his pancakes in the morning and sharing his teddy grahams and fig newtons way too often. I think with a little bit of research you will be able to come up with a good diet plan allowing you to eat 5-6 small meals a day and really get your metabolism going.
Post your diet and we can help you tweak it for what you need.
Also, do you lift weights? An idea of your w/o plan will be helpful too.

i did BFL for awhile, but outgrew it :D i wanted to experiment on different workout routines....my eating is not perfect by any means, but it's a lot better. i used to be really really bad with eating...still struggle w bulimia occasionally, so i can relate to ur eating frustrations...the trick is not to get bored, not to buy or stock the junk/bad foods at home....and not to eat when u feel horrible...i focused on my training,my goals and learned to distract myself by coming online :D posting a journal, walking the dog, baking and cooking for the family...little chores to keep m hands busy rather than my mouth.
since u like instant gratification- prepare food/snaacks the night before and keep them with u so u can munch on it BEFORE u get too hungr-otherwise u end up bingeing....try having frequent n small meals, that way ur cravings n bingeing will be reduced....
good luck with ur goals,i'm aiming to gain weight :) so we're very different in that aspect!

Thanks for your comments ladies. I know that I should get rid of the junk food but I don't want to deprive my kids just because I need to lose weight. ALso, my mother is good for sending cupcakes, and all kinds of things for the kids. I tell her I am trying to lose and she says "well you don't eat any, it is for the kids anyway". Cakes, cookies, etc really isn't my weakness anyway. I crave them once in a while but I'm mainly a doritos, candy, cream, kind of girl. My meals for yesterday...Not good either!!!
I forgot the times so these are approximated times.
9:00 A.M. Half a cup of oatmeal with skim milk and splenda, banana
11:00 A.M handful of almonds, half a chicken breast, nectarine
1:15..Lean Cuisine dinner( chicken terriyaki and noodles) with other half of chicken breast
5:00 steak, small baked potato (yellow gold because I hate sweet potatoes)
with nothing on it, 1/2 cup asparagus spears(canned)
This is where I fall off.I'm so disappointed in myself
6:00 Ice cream (have no idea how much but the bowl was FULL)
&:00 small bag of cheetos and a handfull of Ranier Cherries.
Aside from the obvious major fiasco with the icecream and other junk. I did notice that I am not eating enough veggies.
I do know that I should have protein and carbs at every meal as well as veggies. (I spent a lot of time reading books, boards, etc so I believe that I know the basics) It is just so hard for me to put it into action.
Does anyone know how much I should be eating to lose weight? I was thinking along the lines of 2010 calories since I weigh about 201 but that seems like an awful lot. For those of you that have lost, how long did it take for you to see results. I want to lose at least 8-10 lbs in a month before I attend my family reunion. I don't think I can stomach the "you have gotten so fat, and look how big you are" comments from family I haven't seen in a while.
