In natural shows, precedence is placed on conditioning, symmetry and proportionality... That being said, would cranking down on the obliques on a side chest pose vow to gain more attention towards the judges since it displays more conditioning and rippedness? Also, tensing the abs on a front relaxed pose rather than a vacuum?

A promoter told me after the show that I should've squatted lower on my side chest to bring out hams and pull my on-stage arm back to display rear delt separation and to drop arms down to hip to display abs on side chest posing...

Thoughts???

Mass appeal vs. conditioning appeal? Logic is that conditioning posing postures wash out naturals since we naturally are not as massive (no pun intended), but we do possess the same impressive traits such as symmetry, proportion and vascularity...

I studied a lot of the posing in Pumping iron, particularly, surge nubret, arnold and ed corney... Problem is, a lot of there posing is done towards mass appeal... The better poser who I have studied, is frank zane.. He was one of the first smaller bodybuilders to win by conditioning...

So I think I will pose following this promoters recommendations, considering my next show which is next saturday, he is the same promoter for this show!!! So if that posing style is the way he likes, I think I would be better suited to follow his advice as it would bid better at my chances of winning granted my conditioning is there along with proportions, symmetry and muscularity...

I agree with your promoter as I came to that realization earlier this year. This is why my abs are flexed in all front poses. The down side being that when an overhead abdominal pose is called the abs don't go anywhere. But that's one pose out of the rest. I also started squatting lower which I think is even more important if you're 6'0".
