They say it's never a bad thyng to be a momma's boy... When athletes get on tv - What do they say??? ... "Hi Mom!!!" ... If that's the case, I guess there's nothyng better than being a mom to not one.. not two.. but four.. That's ryght, 4 wild and crazy boys... Nothing helps to keep four boys in order than a mom in shape... and that's what thys lady is striving to be... The Lady looking for any exercyse that will add more velocity to the end of that whipping stick!!! ... The lady that can remove her belt, hit you on the butt three times and put her belt back on in .482 seconds flat... Ladies & Gentlemeeeeennnnn.... I give 2 you - Mom24Boys - Don't Make Me Spank You!! - Workout Threeeeeeeaaaaaaadddddddd!!!!!!!!!

With that build up I would have to guess the theme from Shaft would be appropriate. "She's a bad mother .... shut your mouth"
4 boys should be plenty of workout by itself.

LOL! There are going to be four very frightened boys somewhere in the near future, afraid of their mom with the bionic arms who won't take no lip. :D Looking forward to seeing your progress, here, mom24boys! :)

I know this is all in good fun, but I really think people should start their own WO threads ? We don't want people to feel pressured to do so.
Sorry guys, just the way I see it.

06-27-2005, 07:40 AM
Now thats a start to a thread lol....thanks GDD
now for the work out..I started the Body for like program eating wise about a month ago, and workout wise...15 days ago..so my stuff is gonna pretty much follow that. *grin* it seems to be working ,so i am sticking to it for a while. (with just a little alteration hehehe)
Today was upper body and i was up and at it at 7 am ( my weight bench is buried under construction stuff for a couple days so did just dumbells today)
(chest)
Bench Press 12x15,10x15,8x15,6x15,12x15
(shoulders)
Seated dumbell press 12x15,10x15,8x15,6x15,12x15
Bent over raises 12x15
(back)
One arm db rows 12x15,10x15,8x15,6x15,12x15
db pullovers 12x10 ( just couldnt make those last 2)
(tri's)
db extensions 12x15,10x15,8x10,6x10,12x15
bench dips 8xBW (someday i WILL get those last 4)
(bi's)
Seated db curls 12x15,10x15,8x15,6x10,12x15
standing db curls 12x15
and following some advise (thanks hibby and Wrek) I am increasing cardio. So this afternoon I have planned 20 min of HIIT on treadmill.
Oh and BTW did i mention I also have 3 grandkids LOl of which I get to keep 2 of for 2 weeks ( the baby isnt old enough) on July 8th? Oh lucky me. LOl and yes, that contained just a smidge of sarcasm..hehehe i love em to death but that give me 4 kids under 7 at one time (UGH) (there was a reason i spaced my own out 18 yrs LOL)
my goal is to lose the belly fat and firm everywhere :)

Hey Lisa, you look fantastic.. I'd never imagine you were a mom24boys or had grandkyds... Totally amazing... Make me proud, I've got a few 5 star threads under my belt already and would love to have one more...
Oh, don't forget to share with us all the cool stories and adventures you've had raising four boys and grandchildren.. We wanna know it all...!!! (I feel safer saying that here, than when I did in Thumper's thread... :) )
Peace..~G
Lisa: the pics are well worth the wait; you look terrific.
Looking forward to see what you think of the BFL program. Looks like you're a 5/7er; Jag, JT & the others have all the luck.

I thynk a short story about the lads would make for good filler between the posts of your workouts and any workout questions/regular questions you have...The majority of thys forum has children, I'm sure they could relate to a lot of your tales... :D

WOW you look ....WOW....anyway enough of my drooling.....good luck and good progress it seems so far....
I did the BFL, and have a friend who placed in the top 50 in one of the challenges..I MIGHT be able to help out with questions or ideas if you need as i did it for a long time and dropped a lot of weight with it.It works but they tend to push their supplements a LOT.

I've got a boy like that, too. He's 6, and we've alrady warned everyone with girls under 18 to keep an eye on him. He misses no opportunity with the ladies.
Lisa, I could tell you were in the 5/7 club by the great pictures. Your face has a striking resemblence to Jags. :) Seriously, I agree with Hibby. It's hard to believe you've had four children from the pics. Grandchildren even. WOW.

I've got a boy like that, too. He's 6, and we've alrady warned everyone with girls under 18 to keep an eye on him. He misses no opportunity with the ladies.RASP he doesn't by chance take JUDO at the piqua ohio Y does he? lol.. I went to class early the other night to watch the little guys work out as i LOVE kids...There was this LITTLE BITTY Guy there who might have been 7-8 years old...There was also a girl there who looked to be 12 or so but very" MATURE" for her age if you get my meaning....As the class progresses you rotate fighting partners...well this little guy gets to fight this girl and they faced each other and the instructor gave the command to fight...he walks right up, stops..looks...and grabs BOTH hands full of boobs...Then they got locked up and he put his face right in her chest and kinda shook it back and forth real fast.....I was literally laying on the floor laughing at this point....I was the only adult that saw it cause of the class size, but he definitely knew what he was after on that one.
RASP he doesn't by chance take JUDO at the piqua ohio Y does he?
No, but I wouldn't put that past him. We were waiting for a table at a restaurant the other day and he's putin the moves on the 17yo sitting next to him in line. As soon as he learns how to use the phone, he'll be getting phone numbers. LOL

thanks batts...hey, ya know all this rain is good for the cornfields *grin*...(hmmm, i wonder if altoid sales are gonna rise?) LOL
OK now to the fun stuff, due to all the rain and being cooped up in the house with the kiddo's all day yesterday i didnt get to do my watp for cardio BUT instead i jump-roped, hula-hooped (does that count), did all the kickboxing moves the kiddos did, and hey all that laughter had to have burned some calories and for the final bit of cardio we flashlight danced. heheheh ( turned off all the lights and used flashlights....kinda had a strobe effect) LOL
and now for today: lower body
DB Squats 12x15,10x15,8x15,6x15,12x15
Plie Squats 12x15
DB Straight leg deadlifts 12x15,10x15,(paused to tell the boys, if i have to put these damn weights down your in big trouble~breathe))8x15,6x15,12x15
DB Lunges 12x15
Single leg calf raises 12x15,10x15,8x15,6x15,12x15
Standing calf raises 12x 15
for some reason the boys wanted to work out today, musta been cause of last nights fun LOL since i dont have multiple sets of dumbells, they used fruit,(apples and oranges) and ended up thowing them mostly at each other GRRRR so i spent of lot of my work out growling at them.
chased the boys out to watch a video the n i did a 10 min "i want those buns"
with the personal trainer channell on TV. *grin*
Busy day for me today I have a playdate with the boys at noon, then I need to finish sewing my curtain panels for the LR ( need to edge and make tabs for 12 45"x 80" panels. ) Then, because YEA (I finally sold some of my barefoot sandles) i make I have about three hours of beading to do over the next 2 days)
ANd oh yea I almost forgot I have a question..some-one pm'd me the other day asking about my DB weight...I use 15 LB dumbells,(one in each hand) have i been writing it right? or should I be putting 30? but then, that doesn't make sense? *shakes head, now I am confusing myself, no wonder i confuse others LOL

Is a "watp" a walk? LOL I wasn't sure if I missed something somewhere in the thread and that was short for something else. :D
Did you know there are weighted hula hoops? I kid you not. :) My sister has one -- 3lbs, I think. Anyway, that feels like a workout after a while. I guess it does count, as it's kind of what belly dancers do and they have nice abs. :)
Enjoy your day with your boys!

Yes Hibby watp is a walking aerobics dvd ( walk away the pounds) It good for the days I just get tired of the treadmill, or its raining ,or just too damn hot to walk outside. i do the 3 mile (45 min) one. it has a pretty good cardio, low impact thing going. :)

Remember too, you are only as old as you feel! And I refuse to age with grace, I am forever young!!!

did a little more today than usual cuz i know i will have more than just a couple margaritas this weekend lol...and while it may not help it will make me feel less guilty about it...lol ya gotta love female logic *grin*
About your sticky keyboard, here's how to clean it if you don't know how. Unplug it & turn it over, should be 3 or 4 phillips head screws that you can take out, the cover will separate from the keys & you can then clean the yuck out of the inside. With 4 boys you might be amazed what you'll find in there.

mmmmmorning, slow day today lol love the 3 day weekends. and i did have a couple extra cheats...the good new is I managed to do cardio and some work outs. not as much as usual but better than nothin.
i posted last on fri so for sat:
Sat was cardio, I did 2 30 min session on the treadmill
and a 30 min bike ride.
Sun is usually my OFF day but I did 20 min of hit on the treadmill ( gotta burn off those sat margarita's hehehe)
Mon, we had family over but I did do a modified lowe body, i figured a little was better than nothing.
Squats (15# DBs) 10,10,10
Plie squats (15# DB's) 10,10,10
Lunges (BW) 10,10,10
1 leg calf raises (15# DB's) 10,10,10
Calf raises (BW) 30 (toes straight) 30 (toes out) 30 (toes in)
Straight leg dead lifts (15# DB's) 10, 10, 10
Side Bends (15# DB) 10,10,10
Side twists ( 8# medicine ball) 15, 15, 15
the only cardio I managed on monday was the race thru walmart to get the bug spray ( hey, it is in the back of the store LOL ) before heading to the fire works..and jumping in the kiddo's pool cuz it was hot :)
Today is cardio I did 2 miles WATP and will hit the treadmill again after supper for at least 30 min.
Back in the groove now, eh?

When I get discouraged, I start listing off the little gains I've made (like being able to lift two gallons of milk in one hand with no problem). Also, after I work out, I pause for a moment and think how much better I feel, especially after a cardio session. Another thing I've done is nixed the "little" weekday cheats. I'm even drinking my coffee black for the next seven weeks. It's not easy, but it will be worth it.
I actually have two goals, too. One is my ideal goal, which is to be a size eight in time for my anniversary. The other is my "realistic" goal, which is to drop one more size to a ten. I will be elated if I reach the ideal goal, but if I "just" reach the realistic goal, that's still progress. There will still be changes I wouldn't see if I just sit on the couch and eat chocolate and pizza, like I have for the past three years:)Heck, even if I don't go down a size at all, there will still be changes, because I'm already feeling a lot more enegetic and strong, and the increased circulation is slowly improving my skin tone.
Just keep at it. Cleaning closets is great exercise, too, lol. I've got mine about half done this summer. It was still full of unpacked boxes from our move last year.

Taking measurements made me think of something....
Why is it at my gym that anytime a young woman wants a trainer to take her measurements he'll jump over the counter to help? If I, an overweight middle aged guy, want my measurements retaken after 6 months I then have to schedule an appointment?
Rhetorical question of course... it just made me think about it.

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE......well i managed to keep the kids and the grands quiet while i got in some weights this am.
Today was upper body and since some of the construction is finished i manged to get my workout dont on the weight machine today. *yeah*
all of these are 3 sets of 8 (thought the kids might not give me enough time for my usual sets)
Lat pulldown back (wide grip) 50 lbs
Bench press 55 lbs
Triceps extension 35 lbs
Biceps curl 30 lbs
and because the kids and grands were still quiet LOL
Front arm raise (still 3of8) 35lbs
Lat pull down chest 50 lbs

with every one here over the weekend, all i managed to do was 30 min on the treadmill sat. and other than the ummmm, 3 or soo margaritas sat ( trust me i really needed these lol) i did good on eating.
It hasnt been so bad with having 2 extra kids around...re- check with me on this on the 23rd when they go home LOL...bad part is we are stuck at home all day, cuz i dont have room for 4 kids in my truck. (ugh) thank god for the pool, and swing set...oh yeah lets not forget the video games hehehe. And with having 4 kids here under the age of 7, it is the 21 yr old who calls and wakes up mom at 7 am on a sunday morning ( dont forget the sat margaritas lol) asking for directions to a museum in Chicago..Hell, i live in Indiana i dont know...darn kid. LOL ( llooking around for the men in white coats, nope they arent here for me yet)
Ok done wtih my stories off to read what i missed over the weekend. Have a great monday!

It's good that you did the workout anyway, Mom24Boys. A lot of it is about consistency. Some days will be awesome workouts, some days you just kinda get through however.

just finished doing my 3 mile watp dvd. And last night when i got on the treadmill after dinner, i did 10 minutes at 6 that is my longest at the higher speeds yet....then of course i finished out the 20 min at 4....that seems to be the speed that i find comfortable...not to slow and not to fast....just right. Going to TRY and take the kiddos to the small 4 H fair going on here, for some reason I am feeling brave today..its only about 3/4 of a mile down the road so I plan on walking....I have a plan ya see...if I walk em down, we spend a couple hrs walking around..then walk home....not only do i get extra walking in, but they will be tired. right???? I am an "Easterner" - born in Philly, lived in Cleveland and Chicago and knew nothing about Denver before I met my wife. She is a Denver native and pushed hard for us to be here. Now I know why.
Denver has great weather, good sports/outdoor activity, nice people, and without sounding overly weird/poetic, waking up and seeing these mountains every day renews my faith in a higher power.

Awsome job on the HIIT.
Taking cars in for work really blows IMO. I hate it, but it is a necessary evil. That reminds me I best be getting my Z in for an oil change, and have my radio replaced, the cd's keeps skipping.

Ya know, I'm not overly excited about school starting up again. If I had kids, I'd probably feel differently, but the trouble is that no matter which way I take to get to work, I HAVE to go by one of the more affluent high schools in town. This is where all the rich kids go to school. When you've been stuck in a traffic jam of high school kids all attempting various traffic maneuvers to get into the same parking lot all at the same time for twenty minutes at an intersection that normally takes you roughly 45 seconds or less to navigate through, it becomes a little frustrating. Especially when you get cut off by a 16 year old kid driving a brand new Mustang, H2 or Lexus. Yes...there are a ton of kids that go to this school that drive brand new, trendy cars like that. I just can't fathom parents buying cars like that for their kids, although it does bring a smirk to my face when I invariably see a couple of them with crunched bumpers, parked in a median with worried looks on their faces as a motorcycle cop issues citations. I know the parents need a break from the kids, and the kids need to learn, but let's just say I'm a big proponent of forced bussing. :D
I bet you're excited to get the vacation started, Lisa! Glad you're going to get out of the house and go have a little R&R!

I think it's weird that everyone starts school in the hottest part of the summer. Here in Southeastern Virginia, we don't start until the day after Labor Day. I know we are the only people I have ever heard of that start that late, but it does make a lot more logical sense to me than starting in the middle of August.
It gives you that last long weekend to do something, plus September is to me when fall starts, and the break is after all called "summer break". You guys get out in Spring and start back in Summer everywhere else.

I think school starts earlier in summer climates because the thinking is that it's too hot to be outside. Down here (FL), the kids get out in May and go back in August. When I lived in NY, the schools always started up after Labor Day but didn't get out until June.
I am so happy we homeschool and don't have to worry about this. Although my youngest is trying school this year for the first time

My son started school Monday. :p They go out there and do cross country training in all this heat/humidity. Unbelievable. I liked it better when school started the day after Labor Day and the kids actually had 3 months for summer vacation. The've shaved it down to almost just 2 months. They get out towards the end of May, I believe. Do the colder area kiddies have to stay in later, or do they start late and get out early. That would be cool. Don't tell my son if that's the case -- he'll want to move.

I am going to choose my words very carefully here, but from what I understand, the messing up of the school year has more to do with the teachers union than anything else. From what I understand, they want more days off during the year, so since state laws require kids to be in school X number of days, they have to start earlier.
mom24boys
08-10-2005, 07:43 AM
well hoosier that make sense kinda, LOL I am not really complaining( just bitching about everythin ,its one of those female perogative things ya know. lol) here the teachers are over worked and underpaid..I volunteer in the schools as much as they will let me....Next yr I am going for my TA (teacher assistant) certificate..maybe i can get paid instead of being an unpaid volunteer. I don't have kids and school being in session is a pain for me because I HAVE to drive past the local rich kid's high school to get to work and the damn kids clog up the roads in their expensive cars that their folks bought for them. It turns a normally ten minute drive into 30 minutes and is made aggravating as hell by getting cut off by 16 year old kids driving H2's, brand new Mustangs and NSX's. Makes me want to buy an old Toyota Land Cruiser with a push bar on the front and just let those kids redo their paint jobs against the sides (and sometimes the front) of it. :D
Have a great day, Lisa!

Ok, I am starting to get back to feeling normal. a little :) I have been so lazy and feeling so tired lately, I thought it might be cuz i quit the workouts...so yesterday afternoon, i did some squats and lunges, and about 20 min of some serious stretching.
Today, I have to go register the kids for shool. Do you all have to pay the book fees like we do here? for KDG its $33.95 and for grade 2 its $99.50.....this isnt as bad as last yr, when my first graders fees were $158.00..oh well at least I dont have to pay the monthly preschool bill any more. :)

I sypathasize about the cookies. We have stuff in the house for the kids, and it takes some mental toughness to stay away from them. Everynight, they come to me asking for ice cream...it looks sooooo good as I am scooping it out for them.

GOOD THURSDAY MORNING EVERYONE
Today is cardio and I am gonna skip the tread mill this AM and walk to school and pick up the KDG'er instead..It just a tad over a mile there..so it will be a 2 something mile total.I am gonna leave 10 min b4 he gets out..that way it wont just be a leasurily (sp) stroll...(at least not for me) but it will be slower coming back cuz his legs a just a bit shorter than mine ( not by much though) LOL
I will probably do another dance cardio this afternoon also.
AND inbetween all this I have to go buy a damn gate to keep the dog outta my craft room. And then I have to clean the craft room..all the constuction stuff gets thrown in there and I cant find anything.
Breakfast today was a 1 egg & 2 white omelet with green &yelllow peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatos, and some Pepper jack cheese. yummy and 2 slices ww toast

Just enjoy the walk mom24boys. They grow up too fast and if you can spend some good quality time with your boys individually and get some exercise in all the better!

Nah. When he gets tired just pick him up & put him on your neck behind your head, tell him to hang on to your head, hold onto his back & give him a piggy back ride home. That'll increase your cardio & he'll tell his friends how cool you are. Take it from me, works every time, even when they're 10 yrs old.

Ok I need a new routine..and if I dont find one I guess I will stick with the BFL one at least with the weights for now. and because i didnt have a plan today i just picked up the 15 lb dumbells and did
Lunges
squats
straight leg deadlifts
each until i just couldnt do any more ( no no I did not count )
then I did abs.
since i went out for breakfast, I didnt have time to run this am so I will get in a 20 min HIIT on the treadmill sometime today
I was really bad for breakfast today...( guess that was my weeks cheat)
I had scrambled eggs (not to bad)
2 slices bacon (still not so bad)
fruit ( this was good)
but then, I just had to have the biscuit and gravy..and while the gravy tasted good ,I swear, for the buiscuit I might just have well put the lard on a spoon and stuck it in my mouth. (BLEECH)
This is why I like to plan my one cheat meal at least i know it will all taste good when I cook it myself. :)
Have a great weekend everybody!

Good workout! Hey, its that time of the year here in Indiana. Are they having big pot busts out your way in the cornfields out your way like they are up here? They just had 3 big ones discovered this week up here. Corn is high enough now and they are spotting them left and right by helicopter. Happens every year about this time. So to the answer to everyones question all the time that i hear "Is all they grow out in Indiana the corn?" Now you can say honestly "No"....LOL

Now you're talkin'. Start 'em young on something like that and it becomes an extension of their own bodies.
