I wanted to know if those bodyfat scales (i.e. Tanita) were accurate...
I started dieting 2 weeks ago and lost around 7-8 pounds, and when i pinch myself i notice that my bodyfat is decreasing. However, thats not what the bodyfat scale is telling me...its telling me that my bodyfat% is still the same...Furthermore, when i go to the gym, I can lift the same weight that I did when i wasn't on Diet, that means that it seems that i didn't lose much of my muscles since I can still do the same amount of reps and add cardio...

Did anyone try those Tanita bodyfat scales?? I think it's worth crap if you ask me...Any comment would be appreciated...
Thinking of getting a good old caliper ;)

I threw mine out. It just wasn't functioning, and it was barely used. I reverted to the old mechanical scale w/ dial.

I think they only record changes in foot fat .. lol!! I just use mine now for weighing and forget the bodyfat function. I got a pair of digital calipers instead. They're easy to use and actually show changes in bf. I hear they are reasonably accurate. Certainly more accurate than Tanita!

So the feed back on the Tanita is? Crap or good? We are ordering one for our gym at work. The one we are ordering is about $1800.00. I don't want to order them if they don't work properly. Let me know what you think.
Thanks

Mine cost only a couple hundred bucks, but i felt they were wasted.

Owned a Tanita scale. Do not waste your money, buy a caliper instead! Spend money saved for creatine or HMB.

I know this thread is dead, I still felt the need to reply. I bought a Tanita B/F scale thing. After opening the box and reading the manual, I found out that it wasn't intended for use by bodybuilders. Nice huh?

the thing about calipers is that you can't use them by yourself, you need someone else to do it for you so that you can get an accurate measurement.

I dont think they are very accurate. It always depends on whether you have eaten of drank or exercised. You can never be sure with the tanita. Go to your gym and ask for a fat caliper measurement. Most gyms will do it for you.
