I was looking for opinions on this from people who have been there and done it. I am posting it in nutrition because it seems people here are either trying to gain or trying to lose so it is a very weight oriented forum.
Anyway, when trying to gain mass, what do you feel is a optimal weight gain per week or month to where you are getting a best muscle to fat gain ratio? How much gain is too fast? For example, if you gain 1 pound a week would you say that is too fast and possibly at least 50% fat gain? Or is it possible to put on a pound of muscle per week with the right diet?

How long have you been lifting?

It really depends on the person, their current fitness level, genetics, etc.

I can tell you in my expiernce that if I gain more then 1lb a week too much of the weight gain is fat.

I was in Boarder's yesterday, and it said that based on your size and composition, a body cannot synthesize more than 1/2 to 1 pound of muscle a week. So if you are gaining much more than 1 or 1.5 lbs a week, ur probably looking at some extra fat gain.
