Dude do you know how much CLA you need for it to be effective? I hope you have a TON otherwise its not worth it.

started AD yesterday. dont have my exact numbers bc i used scrap paper to track and wife threw it away by accident

anyway, here is somewhere around what I had yesterday:

cals: 2330
fat: 150
carb: 25(sugar 9)
fiber: 9
protein: 220
water: 75oz

gotta get used to eating more at the golf job...hard to get enough time, esp for AD

took a week off from golf, hit 100 balls with a 6-iron and spent 30 min workin on flop shots at work yesterday since it was slow. felt good to swing a club again!

starting weight: 235

What bodyfat do you reckon that you're around? If you had to make a qualified guess.

235 at your height is quite much.

off to the gym to kill t3h legs

im thinking some warmup cardio, squats, 1-leg leg press, 1-leg leg extensions, hip work, and a hammy machine

need some input for more legs things....for golf-specific training I'll start doing lunges and step-ups again soon, but need more hamstring and hip specific stuff. I'm going to alternate squats/Sumo DL for now, and both will help the hips, but I want something other than the boring machines for these parts that will specifically tailor to the motion of the golf swing(not that hamstrings play much of a role, but I dont want to neglect them).

any ideas, esp. on legs/hips?

As far as hamstings go, When you leg press try to put the pressure more on your heal. this will isolate the hams a little more

Also, Light stiff leg deadlifts wouldnt be bad

9/23

AM:
walk 18 holes
course length: ~6700 yards

40-37: 77

notes:
-struck the ball as purely as i EVER HAVE in my life
-hit 10/14 fairways, and 3 of the other 4 were within 1 yard of the fairway...each of them DEAD straight
-hit 12/18 greens in regulation. put 4 others on the fringe. put one in the water, and recovered with a chip-in par. iron game was NICE
-short game was the best it has been in YEARS!
-putting felt good, and putts rolled well, but nothing fell. 32 putts today, 18 on the front 9
-VERY inspiring round, as with a putt here or there could easily have been at par or better..... my distance is still down from the swing changes getting put into place, but my accuracy is the best it has EVER been, HANDS DOWN
-this is not having played in ~3 weeks due to the flooding

got home, and immediately went to the gym

treadmill: 10 min

DB bench: 30x15, 40x15

DB military press(seated): 35x15, 45x10, 55x5

Incline bench(wide): 105x15, 135x8, 150x5

sorry been busy. ill try and get caught up w/ workouts a bit later

updates:
-tried wingin low-carb diet w/o following numbers for a few weeks, ddint work out so well, got up to 247 somehow last week
-got back on strict track this week, was at 244 yesterday
-found a semi-local trainer who specializes in golf fitness, meeting with him for first time this Monday
-im going to vegas in february to get certified through the Titleist Performance Institute as a golf fitness instructor :)

lifts are going up, swing is getting better, game is slowly improving.

today:
played a local windy, lakeside course. hit 13/14 fairways(all 13 with driver...only one I missed is a goofy hole that makes you hit 5 iron off the tee).... iron play was off, so only hit 7 greens, but had a few GREAT wedge shots and chips and shot 79 playing at 7,000 yards in the cool wind(50 degrees = reduced ball flight)

i'm loving the Taylor Made TP Red ball right now too, very nice so far

golf update:

-shortgame is very solid again, been chipping great lately
-putting is good, but nothing's falling...frustrating, but rest of my game is getting real hot, so when the putter gets hot soon, look out
-weakest part of my game right now is hybrid and long irons....having trouble with consistency and alignment
-strongest part is the driver. i'm SO confident right now, my last 4 rounds I've hit 13, 11, 10, 9 fairways out of 14. i'm hitting the ball DEAD straight, pretty long, and have ripped quite a few over 300(first time since swing changes)....my shoulder rotation is as big as it's ever been, and my drive is getting real good, plus I'm finally getting the lower launch angle again for good initial drive on the ball. I just can't wait to tee a ball up lately...no matter how tight the fairway, I'm just crushing it down the dead center every time

-my right and left rotation of the thoracic spine is well above PGA tour average
-my right hip has pga average external rotation

lowlights:
-my glutes are weak, and my pelvic tilt and hip flexibility need to be worked on
-my lat flexibility is just below that of PGA tour standards, and just needs a slight improvement
-my calves/hams are tight
-my left hip external, and both hips internal rotation is bad
-balance needs work

ok, so began my TPI workouts...intense!

note:

I will not post exact workouts on here. These workouts for starters are custom designed, hence only meant for my specific golf swing. Further, these are private, semi-expensive tailored programs, and it would not be fair to my trainer or TPI to simply post away. Especially when I myself am getting certified as a trainer in a few months, and would basically be costing myself business.

i WILL however post some examples, thoughts, and the basic gist of what im doing.

the program is 18 workouts over 6 weeks, then a reevaluation

crossramp x 10 min(30/30)
TPI workout
crossramp x 20 min(30/30)
treadmill x 10 min(30/30)
bike x 5 min

workout hightlights:
very very SLOW squats with super tight form, toes pointed slightly in, narrow stance....my outer quads are way overdeveloped compared to my glutes/inner quads(thanks to years of squats/DLs with toes pointed out, and a toes out wide leg golf swing), so we're workin on that. it's basically cardio too because we go right from one thing to the next...harder than most of it all looks lulz

was out of town last few days due to a PGA conference, so first workout since last posted

nah, halloween was 60's here...it was so warm i took my jacket off from sweating LOL

i cant remember off-hand...I know since I got my computer installed on the bike I've ridden it for maybe 10 shifts of varying lengths/busyness, and I'm around 200 miles on duty so far?

halloween was alot of sitting around in parks/problem areas too, so it's not a constant ride where I rack up 100's of miles....but prolly ~40 miles halloween night

plus alot of our riding is hills, off-road and sprints to catch cars/go to calls...so it's not always long-distance, but it can be taxing!

Thats good to hear!

How do they evaluate your progress and performance in the TPI program?

depends on the exercise...some are on ROM, some on stability/balance, some on numbers(strength, endurace) some are visible(eg: shakiness/steadiness while performing a 1-legged bridge to test glute strength)

after 18 workouts(6 weeks) you're reevaluated on the same tests they give you the first day...they compare, then reassign your golf handicap
