Now I am back in Wilmette. I workout at home in my Garage but I have a membership to the Mcgaw YMCA in Evanston.

Its very cheap, good atmosphere and some heavy lifters. I recommend it highly

Theres also a cardinal fitness that I go to in Round lake off of Monaville Rd and 83. 19.95 and a few more miles is well worth it than 2 year contract and 50$!

I joined in a month after you left. Niles is cool, I've been talkin to him lately. I make lots of noise when I deadlift, never a complaint yet although I could see them saying something sometimes lol I'm out of my 1 year contract so I could leave at anytime. The head bitch Alaine Johnson or something, watch out for her, she will yell at you, shes the head loser of the place next to the owners. I got told on for dropping the weights one time, but niles just told me to not do it when the day manager was there. I got kicked out because this girl that used to work there was in a bad mood and told the other (loser, I hate him) manager Pete to send me home. She just wanted me to leave, but he wrote it as a report, that got me kicked out. I think it was "harrasment of employee". She quit when she learned that.

Iv only drove by the 24hr one, but it looks small and plain from a drive by. Cardinal is ok, except they only have 120lb dumbells.

American muscle and fitness kicked out a marine last year because his "aggressive stare" was scaring other members. He then went to my gym and got into a fight with a trainer and he called him a women molester. He quit and now I have no idea where he is. Its one drama filled gym when I was there.

Hello, I am in Aurora both my hubby and I work out here at the VAC. I used to live up north in Wildwood ( By Gurnee) and still go up there occasionally. We looked at LTF but, fo a family of 5 it was too expensive and not really that close to home, though my hubby works in Lombard he could have stopped there on his way home but for me, it just didn't look like a smart decision.

For the person looking for a gm in DeKalb, check out Wrights Gym. It's nothing fancy but it's a place where you can get done what you need to get done and the owner is real nice too. You can talk to Ray Binkowski down there, he promotes the OCB Midwest States comspetition in November and is freindly and helpful.

For you guys that are in the Wheaton, Bolingbrook, Naperville areas, maybe when it warms up we could get together for some bleacher runs or hill bounding or something. Some great outdoor cardio! PM me if you are interested. Oh..and Hi Layne!!

I moved to Palatine about 8 months ago and go to the XSport off of dundee and just east of route 53. It is way better than the bally's in Deerfield. That Bally's is really nice too. I ahve noticed a lot of people making the move out west from that Bally's. SuperBBgirl, you should go to the XSport, there are a lot of hardcore people there.

Totally agree. F19 is NOT my favorite place. I started working out there. When I asked if I could put my account on hold for the summer because I was going to college in Champaign, they gave me attitude. I said, Then fine, I am cancelling my membership. They gave me bigger attitude. And they lost me completely. I've been tempted to try it out. But not anymore. Besides, XSport has my loyalty. I love it there. Sure it's in Libertyville, but it's only a 15 min drive from where I live. And I know all the short cuts.

Sorry for those who have NO clue where Lake County is. :-P

hey man, Cardinal in McHenry did the same thing. they just got new carpet, a couple new mirrors, and new tv's in the place, but wont touch the equipment. They are more worried about pleasing the fat housewives that think they can walk on the treadmill and lose weight while eating half a cow for dinner, and putting dairy queen out of buisiness when it comes to dessert time. Some heavier dumbells would have totally been nicer, or even some more equipment. but no, a frickin TV? What good is that going to do people? Sure you could probably take it off the wall and start curling it or something...

my buddy used to go to that gym. He used to tell me all about it on how everyone there was serious, old equpiment etc. Sounds like a dream come true. I guess golds is my only option and I am not sure thats even "hardcore" for what I want.

That's not so. My friend Patrick was a great and reliable partner. By a remarkable coincidence, he also went to NIU, though that's not where I met or worked with him. He graduated a couple years ago. I haven't seen or heard from him since.

Nice man, a powerlifting club sounds kickass. I actually used to do my heavy deads in that little room closest to the bball courts. Not sure if it's still around these days? I pulled 450 in that little room hehe, no straps, no belt, just mixed grip. Those were the days.

Wish I was out there to train with ya, but I'm stuck out here in the real world, workin in Morton Grove, and training at the Bally's up here.

Hey, Y'all !!!

I live on the SW Side (Archer & Kedzie area now). Been on the SW side for almost my whole life. (the few exceptions are the years that I was in the military)

I go to Handle Bar's II Gym on Archer, near Pulaski. If anyone else on here goes there, say "Hi !" in between sets and maybe you'll get a fist bump. (I'm all business when I'm at the gym - notice the skully pulled low and the headphones jacked into my ears with the tunes cranking)

We can talk after the workout.......or on here. LMAO !!!

I live in Chicago's River North area. I work out at David Barton Gym... anyone else? I love the atmosphere and the equipment selection, but I've realized that not many people at DBG (at least not many of the females) are there to make full use of the offerings!

I'd love a serious lifting partner for 3 or 4 morning workouts per week. Either gender is fine, as long as you take fitness seriously and aren't a flake.

I used to when I was at Northwestern. Good selection of machines and hardly ever crowded during the day, but the pool was frequently out of commission when I was a member (it's on the 2nd floor and was always leaking into the store below to the point that said store below had to close).

Its doing pretty good, deadlifted on it a few weeks ago, 375x5 after over 2 months off, and didn't need to compensate, so I'm thinking it is close to being back to full strength. I got released to go to a padded camp in Anderson, Indiana this week, even though I only had the surgery 7 weeks or so ago, so hopefully it goes well.


Also, you Aurora guys, any of you go to AU?
