You won't know until you try them both. It's trial and error really. Some ppl respond well to dex while others like oats only (I like oats only and I'm a little lower than 10% or so) and some like to do both.

If you haven't had a chance to, read the following sticky from the "nutrition" section. All is explained there.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, this is a really interesting subject. Right now I'm using dextrose but I plan totry oats in the near future.

Yeah, if you're someone who struggles with excess adipose storage, oats very possibly would be a better bet for you. Other than that, I would say there are a lot of dietary factors that would decide which is a better PWO supplement for you. I do think total amount of carbs post-workout is the biggest factor.

Of course that's all IMO.

If you drink a pre and during shake, then oats post is much better.

Some people just can't "handle" (as if fat storage, too much of an insulin spike causing them to become hypoglycemic, etc.) dextrose. I personally have no problem with it, but I limit its use to specific days while cutting.

thnx bro,

when cutting, does that mean u use dex for specific days? or like 2 in general per week?

It depends if you are doing carb cycling, UD2, CKD, etc. Insulin is definitely anabolic when combined with protein, so if you are doing a cyclical diet and trying to gain some lean mass, dextrose could be used on your high carb days. Though you will have to judge if it affects fat loss/gain.

As mentioned in that pre, during and pwo thread; I use the method where you combine some oats and dextrose. 60 grams of dextrose and 20 grams of quick oats (high gi) in order to help out with antioxidants. As Alan says, "best of both worlds".

I'm with dexterium, except I go the other way - a couple of teaspoons of dextrose, and about 3/4 to 1 cup of rolled oats, crushed up.

Yeah, same here man. Except I use a different ratio. I like a 1:1 ratio of oats and dextrose. Usually 35g carbs from oats and 35g carbs from dextrose gets the job done for me :D How have your results been from using "the best of both worlds" man? I just started the new 1:1 ratio of oats and dex today, after I tried a 1:1 ratio of skim milk and dextrose for awhile. It tasted pretty good too actually
