I believe it was 13 regulation wins in a row, as teh Oilers beat them in a shootout late in the season during that run. But non the less my Pool is solely based on Sharks and Canadiens players.

They've called it so many times in the past on instances where the player barely nudges the tender, but when a Huet is knocked out of his crease when a flyer charges another cap into him they let it play! All Darian Hatcher knows how to do is clutch and grab, and he gets away with it every shift. Hell, that's all he did 10 years ago in his prime, but the league allowed it. Now that he is immobile it's even worse.

The Vancouver Canucks are poised to make Mike Gillis their new general manager.

CTV British Columbia has confirmed a report that the former player agent will join the Canucks' front office. Gillis has no previous management experience.

The team is expected to make the official announcement on Wednesday.

Gillis is the current agent of Canucks captain Markus Naslund.

The 49-year-old also played 246 games in the NHL with the Colorado Rockies and Boston Bruins.

The Canucks fired former general manager Dave Nonis on April 14th after the team failed to make the playoffs.

I had to keep myself from jumping around the house like an idiot. Calgary was completely outplayed last night in all aspects but I'll be honest, when they went up 2-1 I thought that maybe the Sharks were going to be in trouble. Thankfully they responded with 4 unanswered goals.

Anyone else really happy to see J.R. get those 4 points? He can be an arrogant, oain in the ass, but there's just something there that makes you like him. He's got a lot of charisma, and you can really see his passion for the game. I know it's kind of cliche, but he really does approach the game like a Canadian.

One more thing: Brendan Morrow is one of my new favourite players. Dude would go through hell and back to win a game. He better be on the Olympic team in '10. Great call by the Stars putting the "C" on him. Modano's just not a natural leader, and he's not the best player on the team anymore either.

With the addition of Garon and Gagner to Team Canada, the Oilers now have three players on the national team roster as defenceman Steve Staios had previously been named to the team on April 8th.

Garon appeared in 47 games during his first season with the Oilers and compiled a 26-18-1 record with a 2.66 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage and was ninth in the NHL with four shutouts. Fourteen of his wins came in overtime as he was 14-1 in the extra session and he was a perfect 10-0 in shootouts, stopping 30 of 32 shootout attempts.

Gagner enjoyed a remarkable rookie season with the Oilers in 2007-08, scoring 13-36-49 in 79 games to finish third on the Oilers scoring list and fifth in scoring among NHL rookies. Ah, I see. After you made that comment I read through an interview he did recently and he said that he'd finish his contract with Anaheim, but certainly seemed to leave open the question on what he would do after that. I think that after next year if he wants to go back east then, well, that's his choice and it sounds like he has good reason to. He's earned it. I'm assuming you're referring to Toronto as the frontrunner for his services; I hope he does go there if that's the case. Maybe he can be the catalyst - that final puzzle piece - to get them the Cup.

Lupul always seems to kill teams in the playoffs. He got the game winner against the Caps last round and I remember 2 years ago when he scored all 4 goals in a playoff game vs the Avs to give Edm the win. Definitely a dangerous guy and one that the Habs will have to watch as this series goes on.

That thread is retarded to begin with. ALL professional athletes are outstanding athletes. That's why they are at the top of their respective sports. However, every one takes a very different skill set that one must master in order to excel and it takes a lot of time and dedication to develop those skills enough to compete at such a high level.

Take Steve Nash, indoctrinate him into Hockey at a young age. Have him put forth as much time and effort in that as he did with basketball and you'd probably see him in the NHL. Likewise, take the reverse with Crosby, et al.

Both the pens and the rangers looked pretty bad after their long breaks. I'm pumped for game 2 I think it will be even better(though maybe not as high scoring). Gary Roberts is back sunday too, hopefully he'll shake things up.

Did you watch any of the Stars vs Ducks series? Because that is how the Ducks played and the Stars beat them. They take the hit to make the play. Also Zubov should be back for game 2 so it's only gonna get harder for the Sharks.

It's still impressive, even though they got eliminated first round. They are hard to compare since they have two very different playing styles as well

I'm not taking ANYTHING away from Ovechkin...he's a great player. But Crosby is simply amazing...passing, shooting, skating, balance, etc...he's got it all.

I knew the Rangers would be a tough out. But I didn't think we'd score 5 and they would get 4. I figured it would be a defensive hard hitting battle. I don't see anyone stopping Pitts Offense though, and our PP is one heck of an advantage...Crosby, Malkin, Hossa out there together :eek:

the pens power play is downright ridiculous.. when they are clicking on all cylinders like they were late in the game, its pretty much unstoppable. it's biggest weakness is that they tend to take chances and can lead to odd man breaks for the defense. that said, i really cant remember the last time a team got a shorthanded goal vs pittsburgh.

What a **** call against Straka last night. I don't think Crosby took a dive, but it was just one of those plays where two guys got tangled up, and given the game situation, shouldn't have been called IMO.

but Ovechkin carried the Caps on his back. Look at the Pens lineup. So many more offensive threats. Plus Ovechkin plays a more physical game compared to cry baby crosby.

From what I've seen of these games I think the winner of Pit/NYR makes the stanley cup finals. I know pittsburgh can handle Philly, and montreal isn't playing physical at all.
