Hey Everyone,
I could use some advice about competing.I'm 11 weeks from my competition, I am 5'5 and 125lbs with 18% body fat. I work a physical job at night and a full-time mom by day. I am very determined but intimidated by the whole thing, I have yet to meet anyone with experience.Any help would be greatly appreciated

You should post posting this in the female bodybuilding section!

I too am competing for the first time this fall in September. I have been doing a lot of research on my own. And customizing my weight training and meals..and have seen good results thus far. I will began training with a Bodybuilding Professional this summer.

That would be my best advice. Find a trainer and until then just do as much research on your own and find what works best for you. Make sure you record and track your process that seems to be helpful!

Also I will be attending a competition and volunteering backstage this month, I have also been told that is great to do before your first competition to get a feel for what goes on behind the scenes.

GOOD LUCK in all your future endeavors.

Hi, I just did my first show April 15th and it was GREAT!!! Hmmmm, advise?

If you can go to see one I would recommend it, especially now, when there is time to fix whatever you see you need to fix. If you wait a week out... what can you do. I was told not to because it might freak me out but it would have been valuable looking back.

Suits are very important. I had to save money so mine were generic and I decorated. They looked fine but the one piece really had to much coverage. It covered obliques and the back straps were to.......just shouldn't be there.

Tan. You can never be too dark. I had two coats of protan and then 2 coats of dream tan and I think I had the best tan. Tip. Apply dream tan to an area by dotting all over (be generous) and then rub. I used my hand so have a scrub brush to get it off palms. After spreading SMACK your skin to blend. Works great.

Your your lats good. They are a big thing.

Don't cheat on the diet. Most of the girls are probably around 12% bf. Drink lots of water. Eat clean. Lots of protein working your way down to little or no carbs.

I had a great time and am doing another show in 6 weeks. Keep me posted on how it is going. Here are a few pictures of my show. I am in the black bikini with short hair.

My next show is June 18th. It is Oregon State and untested and although I am natural I am not sure what my competitors will be like. I am not sure if steriods are a issue in figure but it could be. I am doing it for the experience but I'd like to make top 5 at least.

Wow, you look wonderful, congrats to you. Definately an inspiration, I used to model when I was younger after having two kids I decided it was me time again. I would love to maybe one day compete in a figure competition, with people like you to inspire you just never know. Thanks and enjoy your adventure.
Take care of you!!

you should definetly be going to some competitions to see how it all goes down. you'll need a good diet plan, two suits (a one and a two piece), clear heels, tanning agents (pro tan or dream tan), and you should be at the gym at least 5 to 6 days a week.

i think there's an article on here somewhere from a figure competitor that tells alot about posing and other things you'll need to know.
