hey guys ,
this is my first post here but i am by no means a newb to lifting supplements juice etc., i was wondering if purchasing 4 (2 lb) containers of VPX micellean tha expired four to six months ago for 40 bucks was a good deal. The protein has never been opened and it has been stored in a cool dry place. I also have a friend who wants to get in on the deal so when i get them i will use them immedeately. If you have any insight please reply.

I actually found an answer to my own question. Here it is for you guys who are curious. expiration dating is not a requirment under FDA guidelines - it really is a practice done to help retailers rotate and control inventory - as protein powders (dry) do not represent any microbial or health issues as it ages - most powders will be "good" for 36 months - most companies use 2 year dating - so they can ensure continuity in the taste and coloration of the powder - becuase as the powder ages - it will change color characteristics and in many cases can have a degradation of the flavor components that are added - so the powder can taste a little bitter. Expiration dating is only required on food supplements or supplements that have an age issue due to spoilage or microbial growth - these are usually products with a high water activity level or high moisture content - like RTD's...or protein bars - as the moisture over time will spawn microbial growth or spoilage (just like in real food item
