I read recently that using pro tan can take away from your definition if not washed off? Is there any truth to this? If i was it off then i don't get dark enough. And i have a show on saturday, so i was going to do 3-4 layers tomorrow, and 2-3 layers saterday morning, but when i shower, i loose most of the color. Just wandering your guys opinions. THanks

i've never heard that before.
i've heard people say that dream tan can hide defintion, but dream tan is a thick bronzer, not a skin stain like pro tan.
i used to do my ex-gf's color when she'd compete and we always used several coats of pro tan stain on her leading up to the show and then showering them off at night. the night before the show and the morning of the show I'd apply another coat, which she wouldn't wash off (I know for sure that she didn't wash off the AM coat, but she may have washed off the coat from the night before, I don't recall for sure). then, we'd apply the dream tan and get her out on stage.
of course I'm biased, but I always felt she had the best color on stage...except for at Nationals when there were like 150 girls in her class...at which point it was hard to say who had the BEST color..but I think she had better color than most for sure.

you may be confusing that with Dream Tan. Pro tan, as already mentioned is a dye, so it actually soaks into your skin. It will do nothing but bring out more definition.
I would be suprised if one person who has used it would argue otherwise.

Alright guys thanks for the input. I'm starting to apply it after my last cardio session, and i shave and shower. At around 4pm. So there is no need to shower it off then correct? I loose alot of the color when i do that.

Begin to apply it 2-3 days before the show, shower each morning like normal. The excess that isn't in the skin anyway just washes away. With my extremely pale complexion, I have found 3 nights of ProTan amounting to 2 bottles total and a half jar of Dream Tan the morning of the show gives me decent color, though I am never nearly as dark as many guys. Color can absolutely make or break you; really pay attention and find what works for you. It really varies from person to person. I have seen some look incredible with Jan Tana while it looked totally horrid on others, for instance.

For those of you that apply pro tan 2-3 days out, when do you shave last? I have never used pro tan just dream tan on comp day. Is it ok to shave after the first couple of applications, and if so does applying it afterwards give you a greater chance of getting razor burn which in turn looks horrible on the stage.
