I know pre-workout nutrition is very important for several reasons. Also, sup's designed to enhance pump and strength (no-xplode, superpump250, storm, etc) are generally recomended 1/2 hour pre-workout on an empty stomach.
I have done the fallowing with decent (inconsistant) results:
45mins preworkout - NO2 supplementation (EAS Nitron 5), CEE (HP CEE)
5 to 15mins preworkout - 23g sugar (AST DGC), 6g whey (AST VP2), 5g BCAA (ON BCAA powder)
During workout - 16g carbs, BCAA's, and other misc goodies (EAS Endurathon HP)
DOES ANYONE HAVE CONSISTANT RESULTS USING A SIMILAR OR DIFFERENT ROUTINE? Please do not post theories. Only what you do, and the results you have (or feel you have) gotten. I realize I might get a better pump by cutting out my pre-workout shake and taking the NO2 product closer to actual workout, but don't think the trade-off is worth it.
PS Not looking for specific product recomendations. I use the products listed because I got free samples and/or got a really good deal on them:)

I feel what you're saying. It's somewhat tricky to me as well. I for one feel that the preworkout meal is ultimately more important in the overall.
Currently I'm taking a Citruline Malate and CEE 'stack'. I eat a solid meal and then an hour later I drink my mix and get to the gym about a half hour later.
I also take the Citruline Malate first thing in the morning, hit the bathroom and then start making breakfast. So, about a half hour later I'm eating.
Empty stomach is a term I can't take to literaly.

It's tough to supplement properly when using alot of stuff, but would you rather be small your whole life?? Here is what I do:
1.5hour prior to training- normal meal
1 hour prior to training- OPTIATP creatine by Phytoceutical form
w/ about 6grams l-glutamine
15oz. water
30minutes prior to training- 2grams l-arginine and 1grams l-ornithine
w/ 23grams maltodextrin
15oz. water
10mins prior to training- 1 serving labrada supercharge
25oz water
That works great for me and I do that every training day. It's probably helped me put on about 3lbs. lean mass in the past 2 months. I'm leaning down at the same time too so I am not looking to gain a bunch. As far as the pump and endurance/entensity, I wouldn't do anything else.

Thanks for the thoughtful responses.. (reps coming-if you care). I like your pre-workout eating/supplementation recomendations and they helped me see room for improvement in my own rutine. I'll report back in about a week with modifications and results.
Anyone else have some input? Speak up.

Be sure to keep up with your water amounts. When you start supplementing with creatines and l-arginines and using carbs along with that water plays a big role. You wanna gradually increase water up to your workout as your supplements start to absorb. Just by adding another 15oz. of water to your preworkout stack can make a huge difference in pumps.

I got a question, I workout at 6:30 in the morning, I normally eat my meal with Swole V2 at 6:00, and then my whey about 15 minutes before my workout. Now, instead of Swole V2 I got some SuperPump 250, how do I do this with my pre-workout meal? If it helps, we normally don't start until about 6:45 with the actual working out...peace

Well you gonna need atleast 30-45mins between your preworkout meal and your superpump and cut out the whey alltogether. Wake up earlier and eat a light meal around 5:30-5:45 then take your superpump at 5:15ish. Don't worry about that whey preworkout, thats just gonna mess up the superpump. Your suppose to take the superpump on a relatively empty stomach. When I wake up first thing in the morning and take my supercharge(very similar to superpump) I don't even eat, it has enough carbs and calories in it for me to burn through.

How's this for a deal: Eat a healthy amount of carbs (Barilla pasta, Brown rice, Oats - whatever!) about 2 - 2.5hours before the workout, and then supplement with NO explode or Arginine/Orthinine/Citrulline powders...
By the time 2 - 2.5 hours passed, the meal should be fully digested, so you're on an empty stomach... however, you just filled up your carb reservoires, ready to give it all in the gym!!
What do you guys think? (I'd say eat something like 100-150g of pasta with a light sauce, e.g. Olive Oil + garlic + parmesan cheese)

is 1 hour or 1,5hr enough for the food to be digested completely ?
for example,
I workout at 6.30pm
so i eat my oat + whey + other complex carb 4.30pm
drink no-xplode at 6pm
should i go for 2 hrs distance to be safe?

I would eat the pasta, brown rice, etc 1.5 hours before exercise then 30-45mins prior to workout take your NO xplode or arg/orni/citrulline. Two hours is just too long to go without protein, also you don't want your supplements listed too close to the pasta cause the protein in the pasta will throw it off(less absorption). Eating that many carbs your gonna gain weight, thats just plain and simple, hope thats what your trying to do.

About 1 1/2 hours before my workout, I have a regular meal. Right before I leave for the gym, I drink 32 ml of Cold Fusion. I then have a shake during my workout consisting of 3 scoops of ON whey, 3 scoops of ICE, and 16 oz of Gatorade.

when using NO supps it's very important to load up on some carbs pre workout. i lift about 2 hours after i wake up. upon waking i take my NO supp then i make a skillet consisting of 1/2 pint egg beaters, 1 red potatoe, and 2 slices of cheese. good stuff :D

Does anyone have a good link to a more recent thread?
I feel like taking my white flood after I ate a full meal will diminish my pump....
