After discussing with one of my friends here, I found he is working out alone. I know personally that I always do better when I have my workout partner with me. He is able to sense when I can do more and makes me do those 2-3 more reps. As a result, I grow more. But, my friend is having difficulty finding a suitable workout partner.
Here is my idea. Why not have a database or search engine that allows you to search for potential workout partners? Far as I know, there is no type of search available and would be very useful for finding a workout partner.
Please let me know what you think or if there is something like it on this site.

yeah i think this would be a great idea, I'm also looking for a workout partner so when i work chest i can always be sure to get a spot from someone and havent found anyone here yet.

I don't quite think that would be that great of an idea, as there is always a leader and a follower in those type of partnerships. And this would make an issue because everybody would want to lead. Butting of heads. I think it would do more harm than good. I just ask for spotters whenever I lift. ;)

You are right that a partnership needs both a leader and a follower and there can be a potential conflict when you have two leaders together. Yes, I can go find a spotter. But, I much prefer to have my workout partner spot me cause I can trust him. Plus a workout partner goes beyond just needing a spot. We feed off each other's energies. I tend to always do better and am willing to do more when my workout partner is around. I throw down the gauntlet for him and he does the same for me. I also greatly enjoy the friendship and camaraderie with him. There is something special between the brothers and sisters of the iron. I think everyone should have a workout partner and that the good outweighs the downsides. Just my 2cents.

I definitely support this idea. Schedules are hectic & its hard to find a new lifting partner (my old one joined ROTC & then transfered schools)... I'm sure within my area there is someone who is willing to go @ 5am.
