You are not supposed to put eggs right into the boiling water?? Thats what I would have done as well- so I guess we really do 'cook' alike!!
-They have chicken in pre-pouched packets. It is really good and it costs the same as tuna. They also have crab and other stuff, but i don't agree w/ those. But the chicken IS GOOD! They have them at Publix for about 99 cents a packet and one packet is 4 oz which is perfect. Just a thought
Wow, you are supporting you and the hub. I am very impressed!

I would like to try something different in the tuna's place but I'm not finding anything as of yet...my search is far from over though!
Hey Arose,
On the tuna thing, I eat a lot of tuna too and some things that help are mixing it with different things. Instead of breaking it up with a fork I just dump the can into my hand, squeeze the water into the sink and then crumble it up into tiny pieces into a bowl. Sometimes I add balsamic vinegar, capers, cherry tomatos, chopped artichoke hearts (packed in water), mustard. I've also mixed 1/2 can tuna and 1/2 cup cottage cheese and spread it on whole wheat bread and broiled it in the oven. I guess if you wanted to add fat-free cheese or something, that would be good too. (Although there's just something wrong about fat-free cheese, it doesn't really "melt".. )
My mom makes tuna with chopped apple and sweet pickle relish. That's good too - except for the sugar in the relish.
Also - as far as eating egg whites, have you tried scrambled egg whites instead of hard-boiled egg whites? Much easier to choke them down that way :D
Good work on your eats though!!

Mmmmm apple and tuna...
Hon, if you aren't a tuna fan, have you looked into other fish varieties? Tilapia, for example, (or red snapper) is excellent. It doesn't have a fishy aroma or a fishy taste, it's a nice bland white fish that tastes very good with a little salsa and cayenne pepper.
Now, as for the egg whites -- if you're having trouble eating them hard boiled, scrambling IS a great option. Scramble them with a little ff cheese and roll them up in a tortilla with some salsa, or put them on a slice of sprouted grain bread with some pepper or garlic powder. THAT is good.
Your diet looks good though, chica.
Sunny
Hi arose, I eat tuna with a beans and pasta sauce. I boil up some beans and add them to a homemade tomato pasta sauce (garlic, herbs, diced tomatoes etc) and put in some sliced veges too. I store the beans mixture in containers so all I have to do is grab a container and chuck in the tuna and mix it all up and heat it. Takes away that gross tuna taste, and beans are an excellent source of protein and carb.

*shudder* Tuna... I'm still 'off' this fish for a few more weeks... I overdid it, and now I can't even stand the thought! lol! I look forward to when I'm ready to re-introduce it into my diet, since it's so convenient to bring to work. (My poor co-workers must hate coming into my smelly office! hee hee!)
Anyhoo, something to replace tuna? I'm guessing you don't like egg whites? I love egg whites in protein pancakes (3/4 c oats, 5 egg whites, cook 5 minutes each side in cooking sprayed non-stick pan, then sprinkle w/ cinn and splenda after cooked - tastes delicious!). I also like egg whites in omelettes w/ chicken and tomatos, or pepper, or just scrambled with vinegar (Kim - IveyItch, will back me on the last one! Tasty!!!)
Do you eat chicken? Salmon is good, too, but I can see someone not liking the fishy flavour, I guess. Hmm... hope that's been helpful!

Do you eat whey protein? That's good, too.
Baking chicken is super easy, and you hardly have to handle it. Use tongs if you don't want to touch it. Or buy it frozen so it's not so slimey. Just put it in a baking dish/pan w/ sides (fat draining, if you have), cover w/ tin foil, and bake at 400 degrees for an hour. You can flip halfway through, but I never do. :) If the chicken's thawed, it will take less time cooking.
What about nofat cottage cheese? SUCH a good protein source (30 grams for 1 cup!) and tasty tasty tasty. Goes great w/ fruits, too. (Dessert anyone?) If you don't like it on it's own, it's great to throw into a protein shake to make it extra creamy.

Your husband should be cooking chicken for you or at least preparing it! My FH can't stand handling raw chicken or beef either.. but he has his chores that he does and he will cook if I prepare the meat first. You should get onto his case..he gets benefit from you looking and feeling better too! Have you tried using disposable latex gloves?
If chicken is too expensive where you are then get some round marinating steak.
I posted in my journal the bean salad recipe I used.. that was amazing. It can be made starting with precooked canned beans instead of the dry beans.
I can't cook eggs either! I get FH to cook them. You can buy egg cookers for your microwave. They should come with instructions. If they don't then just ask me.. they only work when following carefully the instructions.

Hey, even they microwave eggs can be messed up!!!!!
HEHE, I still have trouble w/ the microwave eggs and it is supposed to be easy! Did you know that egg whites expand when exposed to heat? News to me. Lol
Are you sick of even talking about TUNA yet??

Hey there!
I used to hate handling raw meat, too. I still get a little icky, but I do it anyway. Something that worked was ground turkey...you don't have to touch it at all! Just open the package and turn it upside down in the pan. Your hands NEVER touch the stuff! You can season it all sorts of ways, make meatloaf with it, spaghetti sauce, chili, you name it!
As far as eggs go, have you ever thought of making a fritatta? Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Cut up and sautee a bunch of your favorite veggies in a nonstick skillet...mushrooms, onions, and peppers are really good together. Scramle a bunch of egg whites and add a bit of fat free cheese to the eggs. After the veggies are soft, evenly spread them around the pan and pour the eggs in. Don't touch a thing at this point! Allow the eggs to set firmly in the pan. Once they are set, sprinkle a little more cheese on top and put the whole thing, pan and all, in the oven. If your skillet has a rubber or plastic handle, make sure you wrap it in a few layers of foil before sticking it in the oven. Keep a close watch on the eggs and pull them out when the cheese is melted.

Wow, I guess I have A LOT of new things to try!!! Thank you guys soooo much, you all have such great ideas! :)
I am going to try that frittata and some 3 bean chili with ground turkey-I can handle that one lol! I have eaten a lot of tilapia before so i think I could work that in as well as the tomato sauce with tuna...that oddly sounds likeable.
Thanks again, its funny when you get excited to go grocery shopping;)
Nutrition yesterday:
Not good, ate clean but not enough by a long shot :( Will do much better today.
Workout yesterday:
Ran and walked a tad for 2 miles. Then I ate a stack of protein pancakes and about an 1.5 hours later I went to lift legs...thought I'd be alright but I'll never do that again! Learn from your mistakes I guess. I got super light headed and dizzy while doing my walking lunges so I just set my dbs down and went to the bathroom to sit down. I faint a lot and those were my symptoms where I felt it coming on but I sat down for about 15 minutes and let my body settle and finished one more set of lunges. So here is everything (not as much as usual because I wasn't feeling well):
Squats: 1x12 2x10 (increased weight by 10lbs!!)
SLDL: 3x10
walking lunges:2x8
That's all!
My body has really been shutting down on me lately. I haven't had a day off work in about 2.5 weeks straight. So I called in sick yesterday to my full time job and might again on Friday night to my part time job. This was supposed to be my relaxing week without school but its not!!!
Oh, but I did pull out a B in that class that I was super worried about!!!! :D (It was Managerial Economics and I got a 67% on the midterm so I must have done pretty well on the final!) *happy dance*
Tonight is shoulders and some light cardio to relieve some soreness from yesterday. My hubby asked me to show him how to do deadlifts tonight-TOO CUTE! ha! Have a great day ladies and thanks again for all the food advice!

Well, the measurements came in...a few times cause I wasn't too sure!
I did the 7-site test and all was going REALLY well until I got to the measurement on the side of my stomach-eeeeeekkkkk!!!
Everywhere on my body I measured 18-22 except for my side stomach which was 28!!!! WOW, yikes. So I plugged that info into a calculator and came out with 27.77%. So that is me right now, 27.77%. Although, I couldn't measure my thigh because I couldn't get a good grip on the skin?! Anyone else experience this? Its like my skin was too thick...so I just put 22 into the calculator for that one. I'll do measurements this weekend and a new weigh-in and post it all together.
Hmmm, was expecting this so I'm not dissapointed but I am damn hungry right now! I think I'll go get some nuts over at our bookstore. They should be digested by the time I work out-in about 3 hours. I'll have some pancakes right before the WO too. WAIT-----I have Happy Cookies!!!! YES!

Hey arose - Congrats on your B in your economics class!
That's great that you got a good starting point with your BF - even if it's not where you want to be at least you'll be able to see how far you've come come September :D
Hopefully you'll get some good rest with calling in sick - I think it's a great idea! Take care!

Thanks Hollyday:)
Sb-I'm gald someone else thinks calling in sick is alright once in a while...I always get these "I'm trying to make you feel guilty" looks from my husband when I think about doing it. Sometimes ya just need a break! Hmmm...I would make a big rant here to vent a tad but maybe I'll post it in general chat so I don't take up my journal (yes, it is long). *note to self-don't let other people control your emotions or your day, only you control that-end note*
Alrighty, here we go with last night's WO:
Shoulders/Calves:
military press 2x10 1x8
front/lat raises 3x10
Calf raises 3x12
30 minutes on elliptical-(YES! was NOT in the mood for cardio but did it anyway)
I feel like I am getting weaker with my weights this week (other than squats). It was much harder for me to push these weights yesterday then the previous weeks. Hopefully I'll recover alright for next week.
Today is my extra long day of work...first job 8AM-5PM, second job 5:30PM-11:30PM. Then wake up tomorrow and be back at the second job by noon. Blah. At least I get Sunday off this week!
Oh, I almost forgot...how silly...Official 1st Week Weigh-in:
179.6
Monday I was 185.8 and I know it seems like a killer drop for the week but for me it's not. It will slow down now after this first initial drop that gets my bod back to its almost usual weight. Have a great day gals!!!

Great workout, chica.
Calling in sick is TOTALLY allowed, too bad some people didn't get the memo. You put yourself at risk for getting sicker if you don't give your body the time it needs to heal, plus going in to work with a bug means you may pass said bug on to other people, thus getting dubbed the Office Typhoid Mary. That's never cool.
Good job on the weight loss! Looks like this diet is working for you, huh?

05-16-2005, 05:31 AM
Whew, this weekend was a disaster!! BUT, I did do HIIT on Saturday morning so that is my only saving grace. I ate clean and well Friday, underate Saturday, and stuffed myself (uncleanly) Sunday.
Serving absolutely killed me this weekend. I worked Friday night and Saturday and all was well until I got in a huge screaming match with one of my managers and then the kitchen crashed. Orders were taking 1 hour to get to the tables. It was terrible. Then I got into ANOTHER screaming match with the same manager, and these were while she was cooking on the line and I was out in the food prep area. Then everyone started yelling at each other, people were fired, people walked out...including me at one point but that was just to get some air so I wouldn't throw a punch! It was the first time I ever wanted to just leave in the middle of a shift, I was ready to walk out had it not been for the poor servers I was working with...it would have really left them in a bind. And my favorite line guy got fired :( He was the best at his job and just a really nice guy all around (don't find that too often in the restaurant business). So I'm a tad sad about that.
Today is leg day and I was going to get up early to get some cardio in but I couldn't fall asleep until about 1:30AM and then I'd have to get up at 5:30 :( so I didn't do that. Arrrggghhh, I hate this stuff right now, and school starts this week, yuck!
sb_cali
05-16-2005, 09:31 AM
Oh man Arose! That is just crazy about your work. I can't even imagine what I'd do in a situation like that... I'm sorry about your friend that got fired.
So when school starts in a week does your work schedule wind down? Or do you drop one of your jobs? I hope you get a chance to relax before your school starts next week.. :)
By the way - congrats on that weight loss chickie!!

Thanks Sb! No, the work schedule doesn't change...I just add class to it twice a week for 3.5 hours a night!!!
It was funny though because that bartender quit so she was giving out free drinks to us servers on Saturday night during our shift...lets just say I don't drink often and I was feeling pretty *good* after that first (and only) drink at about 9PM. I thought about my diet and then said f*** it. Sometimes that stuff just gets tooooooooo stressful! I am totally back on track today though, although I am having some intenstinal pain...never had that before, its weird but when i push on them my whole lower stomach area hurts as well as my intenstines...hmmm, hopefully it'll go away!

Well, I said I wouldn't be able to say "i'm having a fat day" anymore, because all my days are "fat" days until I get my bf down...BUT...today I'm having a REALLY big fat day. I was doing legs and I looked in the mirror while I was racking my weights and my legs just looked terrible. They just seem to be looking worse and worse, I don't know what the problem is! I am going to definitely start running more and hopefully that will help but geesh, they were repulsive!
Anyhoo, here's tonights legs (a little sporadic...after I caught that glimpse in the mirror I just wanted to do more and more):
Squats: 1x12 2x10 (increased 10 more pounds!)
SLDL: 3x12
Sumo Squats: 1x12 2x10
calves: 3x12
walked for about 5 minutes
single leg squats: 1x6 1x4 (each side)
lunges: 1x8 I only had 10# dbs in my hands and I could barely do em so I called it quits.
Made my chili and it smells and tastes pretty good right now. We'll see how it goes over at lunch tomorrow!!
Hopefully I'll get over this REALLY big fat day soon, I'd go for a run right now if I could with a good concsience after legs.....that and the fact I can still barely walk ;) Hmmm, well, have a great night guys and I'll see ya later.

I don't actually use any protein powder in them but maybe I should? This is what I do and I got the recipe from the thread started in the nutrition forum:
4 cups oats
1/2 cup I can't believe it's not butter liquid
1/2 cup egg whites
1 cup splenda
cinnamon
I added a couple more egg whites last time because the mixture looked crumbly. Then I cooked em at 350 for about 10 minutes. I'd suggest 15 minutes though. This is just a way for me to eat oats and not gag!!! haha! If I add some protein powder I might add some milk as well to make it mix easier. I'm not much for experimenting in the kitchen because I'll have to eat what I make!!!
Here is my chili recipe which turned out well:)
1 pound lean ground turkey
1 green pepper
3 cloves garlic, mashed
1 can red beans
1 can black beans
1 can navy beans
1 can diced tomatoes...chili style
1 cup salsa
1 tsp ground cumin
lots and lots of chili powder :)
Overall, not too bad...a little sugar from the tomatoes and beans but only about 5-8 grams/2 cups of chili (I think!) I estimated the cals to be about 300 per 2 cups, fat at about 7 grams, and protein at about 23 grams. These are very rough estimates though!!

Good mornin. My biceps are really sore today and I am so excited!! Does anyone's shoulders ever get sore?
This morning I did a Firm tape for cardio and was about to go jump in our apartment's pool because it was so dang hot but a scary man was out there at like 6AM smoking in the hot tub so I decided against it.
I'll be lifting at lunch for back day.
Nutrition has been tough lately, I think I'm eating all this food and when I put it in Fitday its 1400-1500 cals. It's hard too because right now I'm estimating my chili so hopefully when that is done I can see how many cups it is (maybe I'll just do that tonight). Cals cals cals, always a battle ;) My ratios have been off too, about 40P/50C/10F...anyone have any thoughts on this kind of ratio? Good or bad?
My husband tried my chili last night and he said it was the best thing I ever made!!!! Our class was good last night but our midterm is in 3 weeks and our final in 6 so it will be a BUSY 6 weeks. Covering 2 chapters + per night so by this weekend I'll have 4-5 chps to read and homework. I am going to celebrate sooooooooooooooo frickin much when this program is over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well its not even damn hurricane season and one's already out there :( :( This stuff gets me so stressed...Megs, you come here if it goes towards your coast and I'll come there if it comes towards Brevard! Well, gotta go get my "hurricane box" ready, and yes, we really do have hurricane boxes! Have a good one ladies!!

Hi Arose, 1 cup of cooked beans has about 15 grams of protein.. so 2 cups of your chili probably has more protein than that. I suggest calculating the total recipe cals.

I'll just have to break it down now for how much I eat per day. I think I'm going to do an extra cardio session tonight...feeling like a lump of lard here lately!! Nothing big, just some elliptical probably.
Sb-hurricane season starts June 1!!!!! Can you believe it???!!! Are you guys gonna be affected at all in cali?

Sb-hurricane season starts June 1!!!!! Can you believe it???!!! Are you guys gonna be affected at all in cali?
Aha - silly me... It must have been that news report that came out a couple of days ago that I was thinking of... Wow, they said it was going to be a bad hurrican season again.
Naw - it doesn't affect us here in SoCali. Except for all of my dad's family is in Florida - Clearwater - of course we all get worried for therm. The only thing we get here is earthquakes and it's been a while since we've had a big one here. (knock on wood) Although this year wasn't too great in the wet-weather/flooding/landslide dept. :(
Your chile sounds pretty good. I make one with ground elk.. My hubs likes to hunt a couple of times a year. I don't mind eating the meat and it's really lean. I told him as long a I don't see any fur or hooves, I'm okay with whatever he brings home. :p
Gosh - I'm feeling chatty today - better get some work done. :D

Yes yes, no work for me either, not like I'm busy though! ;)
Here is my back WO:
Pull ups wide 1x10 1x8 1x8
pull ups narrow 2x10
single db rows 3x12
reverse flys 3x10
hyperextensions 3x12
Just for kicks I tried glute-ham raises on the lat pull down machine...those are a ton tougher than they look! I did 6 halfies and my hammies were still sore from leg day Monday so I called it quits. I couldn't go all the way down though so that'll be my next goal.
Definitely want to do another cardio session tonight...I look sooooooo yucky lately! I think I am starting to build some muscle (i know its soon but it comes on pretty easy for me) and this is making my fat look just icky. So cardio, here i come!!!!
It's funny how dieting and training just kinda click when you do em right, you know what to eat, when to eat it, how to train. (this isn't me...YET...I will get to that happy place where I know all those things soon though ;)) I feel like I could do some amazing things over this summer. I am trying to look at it long-term so I don't get frustrated by how yucky I look now. I just picture myself 15-20 pounds lighter and I smile :) It's keeping me motivated now, like last night my hubby bought one of those huge bags of peanut m and m's and I had ONE! I made my protein and milk shake and went to bed. I need to focus more on those little achievements, not so much on the pudge on my body...I trust it will go away if I continue to diet and train hard-it's only a matter of time.

A rule stating not to lift weights over your head is pure stupid. I don't know what else to say! That's ridiculous! Can you do your shoulder press sitting?? (It's better for your back anyway.)
sillyvent
05-18-2005, 01:54 PM
Arose- wtf!!! You can't have weight above your shoulders....that is by far the stupidest "rule" in a gym I have ever heard! Then he has the nerve to tell you you are lifting light......some people are complete morons! I think I would snap if someone told me not to lift a certain way...."umm aren't I paying your ridiculous gym fee like everyone else? oh yea I am...so why don't you walk back to your "work area" while I lift my tiny ass weights...thanks!" geez- roll of the eyes! haha SOrry to hear that girl!!!

Haha, you guys crack me up...I bet that employee doesn't know he has 10 bbers out after him!!!
I did my extra cardio last night, 30 minutes of elliptical...then I went to Starbucks to study and got a nice non-fat steamed milk with sugar free syrup. Mmmmm, so long ago were the days of frappucino goodness :p
This morning I did sprints. Not sure of the distance or how long it took to sprint but I was pretty much dead by sprint # 6 so i think it was okay ;) I did 10 in all and it took me just over 20 minutes. It is so dang hot here now that I was just dripping with sweat after that was done!
I plan on doing sprints tomorrow too, then Saturday a nice slow jog and then Sunday I'll see what I'm up for after running around that damn restaurant on Saturday!
I'll post nutrition later...it'll be interesting as I need to go grocery shopping!!

Here is nutrition info today...the rest of the week looks similar also:
Total: 1673
Fat: 36 322 20%
Sat: 11 99 6%
Poly: 5 42 3%
Mono: 9 80 5%
Carbs: 215 744 46%
Fiber: 29 0 0%
Protein: 140 559 34%
Yay! I miscalculated before and I edited so here is my new nutrition...better cals that's for sure!!
Carbs are creeping up this week and protein is lacking...I took a week off of protein pancakes because I was gagging getting them down so that's probably why. Next week I'll be back on em, this will get my cals back up too hopefully.
My chili stats per cup:
241 Cals
23 g protein
8 g fat
28 g carb (from the beans mostly :))
Not too shabby, I think this will become a lunch time staple-keeps me full and tastes too good!!! Have a great day gals and keep up the good work everyone!

YAY! I'm glad you did these! Aren't they great?!?!?! You will get used to them after a little practice. They really work the hamstrings! Your diet, cardio, and weights are all looking really good!
How are you feeling on your short break from the school insanity?

I LOVE glute-ham raises. I feel like such a weirdo doing them in the gym...it's fabulous!

Thanks guys, I REALLY appreciate your support...especially now...today was weigh in day :(
Well Paichka, I resisted pizza (last night), m&m's, frappucino goodness, alcohol, and it wasn't enough.
Today's weigh-in:
181.6...up two pounds from last week.
And I guess the part that bothers me is that I thought I was doing so well, I am pretty good at guessing my weight and I thought I was 178 at least. And the crap that maybe I replaced it with muscle, water weight, etc...not gonna fly...with this much bf to lose it should come off with the cals I've been eating and the workouts I've been doing. This s*it is supposed to be scientific LOL! Well, I'm bummed. But this is the first time when I've been up weight where the first thought that has crossed my mind was "work harder". Then other thoughts came flooding through-"f*ck it, go out to eat tonight", "drop cals", etc. But I'm going with work harder. I ate big last Sunday and had 2 little hard candies this week and no protein pancakes so I think I can get back into it by changing those things. The cheerios in place of my pancakes will be the first to go. Then next week I will tweak depending on my weight.
I read somewhere that 164 is the highest of my ideal weight...hmmmm, think I can get to it by end of August? That'll be 17.6 lbs in roughly 3 months. Doable.
The week off from school was okay...had to work my other job more though which absolutely sucked-thanks for askin though WB!
Just got in from sprints and I had to turn the A/C on!!! It's soooo freekin hot here! Gotta run and get ready for work...

Arose .. you are doing great ... just keep tweaking with it!!! When you are lifing heavy and working out heavy .. the scale wt. doesn't always reflect what is going on!! Do you do measurments??? I think that a tape measure is truly one of the best ways to assess progress and monitor if your body is going where you want it to.
Just DO NOT get discouraged!!! You are really doing so.......well!!!

Ah, the heat- I love it!!! Hope you are doing your sprints in the morning tho, the sun can be a real stinger!!
Great goals you are setting, you are definitly on the right track and I do not have one doubt that you will be exactly where you want to be by the end of the summer. Just don't give up. You are making progress even if you do not feel like it. People around you will notice the difference way before you feel any different. Hang in there and I promise you it will pay off!!!!!

yes Megs, those sprints were at 6AM this morning---still dark outside!! And I still wanted to jump in our pool afterwards!! I couldn't even begin to imagine doing them in the mid morning-dusk time...I would DIE!
Alright, here is the chest/tri workout. I got done really quick with the bulk of it so I threw some exercises in here and there:
Incline bench 1x12 1x10 1x10
Bench w/dumbells 2x12
bench w/bar 2x10
flys 3x8
pullovers 2x10
skullcrushers 2x10 (it hurt my wrists really bad so I stopped one set short)
bodyweight dips off side of bench 4x12
And then I had a really good turkey sandwhich...Friday's I need to be more creative with my meals because I usually run out of food. Tonight will probably be a salad with chicken. If I had all the money in the world I would buy all of my meals from Wannabemodel, fully cooked and all I would have to do would be heat them up.
Feelin a bit better about my weight...I *feel* smaller so I guess that is what really counts. I will measure tomorrow and post if I have time before work. Have an awesome Friday night ladies and a great weekend...and for you Canadians, a great LONG weekend!

Hi Arose -
First off, I think you're doing great too with your meals and workouts. ;)
And... about that darn scale.... (it's evil I tell you!... Evil!) You're braver than I for stepping on it. Sometimes I'll be feeling GREAT and step on it and WHAM! my good mood is shot, frustration and disappointment rise up and it's all over at that point. I say the exact same things you mentioned in your post.
But hey arose, you're doing everything right - the laws of thermodynamics dictate that eventually something has to give... right?
(Gosh - I could be talking to myself here :D ) Just hang in there and keep on chugging away... k?

Doll, there's a bunch of reasons you could be a little bloaty. Maybe you overdid the salt, or you aren't sleeping enough, or you're getting close to that time of the month...our bodies fluctuate and we retain water like CRAZY especially as it starts to get hot. I also notice that I start to retain more water when I'm eating a ton of fiber...of course, nature takes care of that one.
Take a deep breath and ask yourself -- how do YOU feel? If your energy level is up, if you're happy with your diet and your workout, and if you're harder in places you were squishy before...those are all signs that what you're doing is working for you. If you're unhappy with any aspect of what you're doing, we're here to help you figure out what's right! I stand by what Kris said -- you may just need to tweak your diet a bit...but I'm sure you're on track to make your hotness goal by September.
Keep your head up!

Thanks guys for support :)
I feel better overall but I do know some areas in my diet where I can improve...I just thought they wouldn't be hurting me as badly as they are. Like this week I replaced my protein pancakes with cheerios because I didn't want to start hating the cakes...I think maybe I'm more carb sensitive than I thought. I'm gonna try to lower those a *little* this week by not having any cheerios. The carbs I'll be taking in will be from oats and beans. I also wasn't as great at getting all my protein in, so I'll definitely need to work on that this week. Still eating all clean stuff though the past week, except for my 2 hard candies and one m&m. Too bad my honey doesn't get on the bandwagon...then I won't have to resist pizza, drinks, and donuts ;p He did say my butt was a lot firmer......maybe the .5 inch there was muscle!!! (ohh, I wish). I'm gonna have him take pics this morning.
And I guess it is strange because I think I will be looking awesome once some of this bf goes away...I noticed some changes in my skin on my legs and arms...it is looking kinda goofy, maybe a little looser than normal ( and really not very cute) and I read in the losing fat section that this might have to do with muscle taking over a bit and losing some bf...it'll just take the skin some time to tighten up. But I guess that wouldn't explain the increased inches. Hmm, oh well, I tried a theory! I am in good spirits today and may take the day off, just some light walking or a swim...I usually plan cardio for today but it's my only "light" day so I may bypass it (got a TON of homework to do anyway).
Last night at work I was thinking about my friends there and how I really like some of the people I work with and then how they were probably going to get some cake and ice cream later...then I thought about you guys and how you're my other set of friends and how much you'd hate to see me eat that. Well, you guys won out and I just think it's amazing that we all have similar goals and interests and are here to help each other...we are a unique bunch, and we are all so successful and ambitious. You gals rock, thanks for all your help :)

Hello!!! Wow, tons of energy this morning, that day off really was great! I ate well yesterday, made happy cookies and cut up loads of fresh veggies. I am ready for my week! Except for my chili which I will make tonight. I was going to do cardio this morning but woke up about 35 minutes late and couldn't get it in. Will do tonight instead and lift legs at lunch. I am still going to do heavy squats and deads but I'm gonna lighten up my lunges and one-legged squats a tad. The reason being I don't want DOMS as bad as I usually get them because I need to focus on cardio more now that I am on my losing fat mission. I usually can't do cardio after leg day so hopefully this will take care of it (along with a nice long stretch session).
And, not to make any assumptions or get ahead of myself, but my pants are a *tad* looser today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was supposed to be me holding in my excitement but I think more of it leaked out than I thought. I don't want to be disappointed though at weigh in at the end of the week so I'm not going to get REALLY excited!! lol! Have a good day ladies and I'll post my WO's later.

Okie dokie, here is today's legs!
Squats warm up x 2
Squats 3x10 (increased another 10lbs...I think this'll be the last increase jump for a while! That was heavy!...for me anyway ;))
Plie squats, just the bar 2x12
SLDL 3x12
walking lunges, no weight 3x12 (did these sets almost continuously, about 5 second break between)
Legs feel like J-E-L-L-O! Even though I didn't use weights on the walking lunges I sure felt the burn!!!
I have an hour for lunch so I usually try to get my WO done in 30-35 minutes, shower, and eat something quick. Needless to say my heart rate was through the roof! I was a monster!!! muhahahaha! Lunch WO's are the best, soooooo much energy for the afternoon slump ;) Tonight will be cardio, the elliptical for about 30 minutes and then off to my EXTREMELY busy Monday night...but the hubs won't be home till about 8 so hopefully I can get some stuff done lol!
I am going to post my meals this week so i know exactly what I am tweaking from week to week. Here is today:
Meal 1 .5 cup oats, whey, .5 banana
Meal 2 cup yogurt, whey, 8 oz skim (close to Pre WO)
Meal 3 Salad with turkey and ham, 1 whole egg, .5 banana (Post WO)
Meal 4 Strawberries, carrots, brocolli, 2 tbs ff sour cream
Meal 5 1 cup Chili and .25 cup shelled pistachios
Meal 6 skim and whey, fish oil caps, .25 cup shelled pistachios

Good mornin ladies! Thanks Megs ;)
Did my elliptical last night for 30 minutes. Then got up and ran this morning for 2 miles. Had to cut it short because of a LIZARD!! IN MY APARTMENT!! I didn't want to wake my husband up so I tried to capture it at first then tried to kill it because it was so fast and I couldn't do either!!!!! So it is still roaming around there having it's way with my apartment! It was so yucky and I didn't want to smash it because it was a fairly good size and then all the guts would be everywhere...eeewwwww. So before I left for work I told my hubby about it (and maybe could've mentioned that he should take care of it)! ha!
Legs have a bit of DOMS today, especially after my run they tightened up pretty well. And now I am feeling like I'm getting the world's worst case of cramps and backache....blah, here comes a great week ;)
I might do some light walking at lunch to loosen my legs up but since its so hot here now I'll have to go to the gym.
I'll post my meals later....now all I want is some extra strength ibuprofen!!!

Don't you just love the feeling of jello legs after an intense workout? Great job, arose! :D
You can drop your carbs more by adding protein in place of carbs. So, at meal 4 you could add protein, drop the strawberries and carrots, and add a salad there or some other green veggies.
Keep the great work! I really doubt those increases that you saw earlier this week were bad increases. Sounds like they were just womanly increases from your last post! Don't you just LOVE those????

Hi Hi! Well, didn't get a walk in for lunch...my mental health was more important today!!! Work's been a killer so I had to go vent to my hubby...it was great! I don't mind, although these damn cramps are not going away which is making me feel "large"! Ha! Thanks for the support ladies, this week is probably why I was a tad heavier last week.
WB-that's a good idea for meal 4...I'll have to figure out some protein there. Maybe PB???!!!!! PLEASE!!!!??? No, I'm not gonna do it but a nice big tblspn doesn't sound to shabby right about now! I'll figure that out this weekend...too much stuff to do during the week ;)
And my hubby couldn't find the lizard this morning so tonight I'm going to bed with an extra friend I guess...yuck! If that thing even gets near my bed I'm sleeping in the car. No joke.
Here is today's diet:
1. .5 cup oats, whey, .5 banana
2. yogurt, whey, 10 oz skim
3. 1 cup chili, strawbs, .5 banana
4. veggies and ff sour cream dip! mmmmmm...yum!
5. big salad w/1 whole egg, extra veggies, ff dressing, .5 cup pistachios
6. skim and whey, .5 cup pistachios
Total: 1796
Fat: 56 503 29%

Fats are a tad higher today because I just realized I was only at like 1550 cals and wanted to add the pistachios to get me to 1800. Carbs still under 200!! I may take out my banana too, along with the changes to meal 4 and replace with a lower carb fruit but they are so danged good!!! I LOVE apples too, but those also have higher carbs.
Now off to my 3.5 hour class...our midterm is next week already!!! ahhhhh!!! At least it's memorial day this weekend and I'll get a chance to study ;o Work is slowly settling down here, if there are any more "fires" around I'm gonna poke someone's eyes out! Have a great night ladies!

Mornin! This morning I got up to run and it was insanely humid!!! I just felt the water in the air as soon as I stepped out....thank goodness we left the air on last night ;) So I ran but my legs seem like they are taking longer to recover from leg day (especially the hammies) with the extra cardio so I only went 1.5 miles and walked a tad. I think I'll change my cardio day off to the day after leg day. This should help them recover a bit more.
This week has really been great in terms of my diet and WO's. I am proud of myself :) It has become a way of doing things that gives me energy and sanity. Even when I think I might want some bad food I know if it was actually in my hand I wouldn't eat it. Hope this lasts! I also realized the only time I really start craving things is when I don't have any food to eat and I get hungry. Last night this girl had some wheat thins in class and I almost attacked her I was so hungry!! Got to plan more food for that long ass class. I just waited till I got home though, had my pistachios, milk and whey and felt awesome.
I also saw a success story on the Body for Life webpage of a girl that was 6' and 172 lbs and 16% bf....holy crap did she look good!!!! I have a vision of her in my head now :D Not that 16% is my goal right now but it sure is good to see someone around my height and weight that I can aspire to!
geesh, looks like I have a lot going on in my head today! Will WO at lunch...back/bis and will post that and nutrition later today. Have a great day gals!
Glad to be of service Megs!

Hey you! :)
Cals and workout look good today! (of course they usually do every day ;) )
Your meals look good! I just love the strawberries right now! Do you ever eat fresh raspberries? They're so good too! (lots of fiber too! - what an old-lady thing to say, huh? :p )
I saw your vent about the "yelling men"... LOL - that must be a drag, I can't really relate though. But you're so tall and (already) a hottie I bet it gets old. You got some good feedback from the other girls too!
I did have an old man whistle at me the other day while I was taking a walk. It was actually cute! It's been a long time since I've heard a whistle :D We work next door to a senior living community... LOL
That's funny about attacking the girl with the wheat-thins - yep, I'm thinking you should probably bring something to munch on in class. (Protein pancakes? chicken breast/apple?)
Anyway - I'm so glad you're having a great week! I hope it continues!

Hey Sb! Geesh work is slow today...just keep looking at bb.com :D
You CRACK ME UP! I bet you gave that old man a nice show walkin down the street!! ha!
Yes, I will have to bring some more snacks to class. I have been only bringing my salad for dinner but I think I'll bring some nuts too. Is it possible for brain activity to burn a lot of cals??!!! Seriously??
Oh and raspberries are my FAVORITE!!! We grew tons of em in my garden in Minnesota...I hope I'm there this year for them (my mom usually freezes some for me ;) moms are great). I would get them all the time but they are like $3 for a tiny little pack which I would devour in a handful. I have a hard enough time not just munching the strawberries down in a day!
Ahhhmmmm, already a hottie....thanks :) Hope to be more so at the end of this journey!

hi arose! your diet looks good, especially that chili - i think i might try that sometime. i love berries too, and eat them mostly from frozen bags since they're much cheaper. you might want to try that. it's delish adding it to morning oats since it'll help cool down the oats.
brain activity needs a lot of energy, so they do burn a lot of calories. i find that on the days i'm off school, i don't need as many calories as days that i go to school.

Ahhh, school...my nemisis...
I ended my last semester May 6 and then school started up again May 16. I have to go to school year round to be able to graduate and leave when my husband goes on internship. And so goes my summer :(
I do have a question though. Last night I was still super hungry after dinner. I didn't eat anything and I stuck to my cals but do you think it would be a bad idea to have a bit more to eat at night? I ate plenty during the day and think I even went over what I said yesterday...not by much, still in the 1800's. I just felt guilty and didn't want to eat "out of my plan".
Anyway, it's official...my pants are looser! Tomorrow is weigh in and measure-in so we'll see how much other progress was made this week!!!

Tehe...I do have milk and whey before bed but I wouldn't call that "eating something" I guess :D After this week I will re-evaluate and probably add a meal 7 in...this is so exciting! I LOVE BEING HUNGRY AND THEN BEING ABLE TO EAT! Now just gotta keep my protein up with real food and find a good dinner meal without too many carbs. I love my breakfasts and lunches (wow, the queen of powdered sugar donuts loves healthful food??!!! wth??!!) and now I am going to look at the recipe thread to find something for dinner. Maybe that southwestern tuna...hmmmm....this is making me hungry....time for meal #2!!
Thanks for the advice powells and terra, I was thinking the same!

Hi!
I was reading I believe earlier in your journal and you were mentioning something about not liking the tuna, and getting it because it's cheap. I can't stand tuna either, which is why isn't not on my diet plan. lol We aren't SUPER stretched for cash, but I am very cheap. :) I was going to mention that at the Super Wal-Mart here, I get the packages of frozen Salmon and Tilapia. They are only $4 each and usually have 4-6 peices of fish in them. They are also indiviually wrapped, so you don't have to worry about trying defrost everything or worrying if the rest is going to go bad. They defrost in hot water in about 10 minutes, less with the tilapia. Just an idea. Also with chicken, we buy the big "Great Value" bags of chicken breast. There is usually 5-6 HUGE peices of chicken in them, and that's $8. Now we do have the tuna, but my husband eats that. I've tried and usually end up gaging and on the verge of throwing up. lol So I just don't do.
arose70

Yes, I've had the tilapia before and that was good...maybe I'll get that for some change in dinners too.
Thanks for the encouragement sthpadre and powells :)
Alright....today I had a looooonnnngggg discussion with my scale...it went something like this:
Me: Okay buddy, let's see some improvement this week, we can do it!
Scale: Step right up!
Me: No, that's not right.
Scale: Yep, try it again, it'll still be the same weight!
Me: FINE, I WILL try it again.
Scale: Told you so.
Me: You mother %#&&^*!
Scale: MUHAHAHAHAHA
Me: Fine, next time I'm gonna kick your ass. You are not putting a dent in my mood today and just for that I'm gonna run an extra sprint and pound your face in the whole way!
Scale: I'll be right here waiting for you next week *evil grin*
Me: You BETTER! Just know you didn't get the best of me today!
So, today's weigh in didn't go as planned ;) Officially it was 181...a .6 drop from last week. But a drop is a drop! My goal to lose this weight was September but if it takes almost twice as long to February so be it! I will get there!
My measurements went back down to normal and then, on some, past normal!!!!! So that is great! I am looking for another 1.5 inch loss on my butt/hips by July and I think it is doable with some running. That is another short term goal.
Official measurements:
Waist 30 (down .25 inch)
Bust 37.5 (down .5 inch)
Hips 43.5 (same)
Thigh 25.5 (down .5 inch)
Abdomen (where my jeans sit...about 3 inches below my belly button) 38 (down .25 inch)
calf 13.5 (up .5 inch---YAY! i wanted to increase these :))
Wow, when I write it down it looks like a great improvement for one week!!! YES! Next week expect more ladies, expect more! Especially off that hip measurement! These are my "normal" measurements...at times when I haven't gained a lot of weight or lost it. So I'm happy but hopefully I'll see more improvement on the scale too next week. I'm not going to change cardio/diet around too much before June just to gauge my progress more. I won't add cals next week at night though...sorry terra and powells!
This morning's WO:
Sprints x 11 Added that extra one ;) Did fine, maybe I'll add another one next week too. Could've pushed myself harder I think. Will do a long jog tomorrow. Have a great day ladies...I feel great today!!!

MsJ-I DID hear that! How terrible....poor guy. What a cool thing to leave the world with though! Yes, I was very excited about my calves...they are ALMOST disproportionately small compared to the rest of me so it's nice that they grew a tad ;) I'll be looking for your measurements next week!
So, I just bought two new pairs of shoes on my lunch break :p They were at payless and I got em both for $20!!! They are super cute sandals and we get to wear sandals year round here so it was a pretty good deal. I haven't bought new "dressy" shoes for about 2 years (okay I did but they were $3 on sale at Target :D) and I just couldn't super-glue my other 2 payless pairs anymore!!!! (if that doesn't give you an idea of my financial situation, don't know what would!!! LOL!) So yay, figured it was a reward for a great week. And now that i thought of it that way, every time I am unmotivated or want to cheat I just have to look at those shoes and feel guilty about it!

Hey Arose -- I haven't posted in your journal in DAYS and I completely missed the weekly progress, your Dr. Evil-esque conversation with your scale, and all sorts of things. I hate it when my internet goes down!
Keep at it with the homework -- my conversations with mine used to go like this:
Orgo Book: You're too tired to study me tonight.
Couch: The book is right. Look at that ridiculously thick chaper on addition reactions -- you could be sleeping!
TV: ER is on.
Orgo Book: Yes! ER! You'd much rather drool over Luka's supreme hotness than study me.
Me: You guys are satan's minions, aren't you.
TV: No! Why would you think that?
Me: Come on, admit it. You're satan's minions.
Couch: Gah! She has us!
Orgo: You have unmasked us with your clever wordplay.
Me: That's right, biatches. Now stop tempting me & let's get to work.
College was so weird.

Welcome back Jeni!
Sb-I guess I have an hourglass shape...I'd like a smaller hourglass shape though!!!! This might sound really weird but I am "well endowed" and I am terrified of losing them!!!!!! I'd be so sad, but hopefully they'll just go down a tad...I've never been at a small bf% before so it'll definitely be an experiment!
Good to hear from you Megs, I hope your trip is awesome and it looks like you'll be able to keep on track with training a little bit at least!
Sunny!! That was hilarious...I definitely have conversations with inanimate objects ALL THE TIME! Sometimes I think I'm going crazy ;)
Well, today has been LAZY! Whenever I have more than 1 day off of work per week I just crash. I slept about 8.5 hours last night and then I just got up from a 2 hour nap!!! Its like my body goes into conserve mode. I really had to push myself for my run this morning too-the whole way I was hating it! I ended up doing 2 miles and calling it quits. I'm about to go do legs tonight, I'll post that later.
Nutrition yesterday was a little higher on cals than I would have liked...2000 I think and my fats skyrocketed because the extra few hundred cals came from pistachios! Of course I underate on Saturday at work and that lead me to overeat on Sunday. But there was this huge oreo cake that a guest left us to chow on and I didn't have one bite! (I did help a friend stick a piece in another co-worker's face though, which made my night!!)
Story time. So Sat night I went to Friday's with a bunch of people from work and I was waiting for one of my coworkers so we could leave together (safety thing because we carry so much money and have to walk a distance to our cars). Anyway, we got to our cars and these guys jumped out of another car and ran up to my friends car and tried to get in!!! They looked psycho! My friend locked his doors and drove off and then the other car followed them so I followed them because I didn't want my friend to get beat up! Well, we were both on the phone with the cops and all of a sudden like 5 cop cars showed up and the other guys took off! Ahhhh!! Guess these guys really wanted to beat up my friend...feel bad for the guy, he's 19, like 6'3" roughly and a good 140 lbs wet!! Oh well, hopefully he's alright, won't see him again until next Saturday.
But my husand did order dinner at Friday's (dinner at 1AM hehe) and I sat there with my diet coke and wasn't even tempted. Came home, had my protein and called it a day! Today's nutrition is pretty good so far. Haven't put it into Fitday yet, but I will in a bit and I'll post it later after legs. Have a wonderful and safe memorial day weekend everyone!!!

My hubs and I went to olive garden last night---it was terrible!! yuck! So i barely ate anything...which is okay ;) Cals came out to about 1770 with roughly 160 g protein and 160 g carbs and maybe 40 g fat. Not bad!

I worked at a restaurant for 2 years, I know how hard NOT eating the food can be. Someone screws up an order and there is this nice plate of food o eat and you have been running around like a chicken with your head cut off ..or it's been dead, and you're bored ...So congrats on keeping up your will power! What's even harder ... going out to eat ANYwhere, because you know what goes on behind those doors. LOL
arose70

LOL Jess! It's nice to hear someone else say "dead food" and know what it means :p I have pretty good faith in restaurants as far as cleanliness because ours is so clean...maybe that's a false sense of security lol! It definitely does take willpower....like last weekend a guest brought in this HUGE birthday cake and the guests gave about 3/4 of it to us servers...I didn't have a bite! Good thing we are always busy so I'm not standing around staring at food that I can eat ;)
Ah, the joys of the restaurant life...I can't WAIT until I can quit!!!!! Congrats to you for getting out of it. It is hard sometimes for people to do that because of the cash, I know many people that just stay and put up with the BS that all restaurants have just because they can walk out the door with $200 in their pockets on Friday and Saturday.

lol Yes, restaurant lingo is a language on it's own. I left when I was about 3 months pregnant. The money there was getting slow because they were starting to change things around, and I was getting irritated to the point of no return. I had gotten another job, and was going to work both, but then fgured I liked the other better and quit waitressing. It can be fun at times.
Oh our kitchen stayed .. somewhat clean, but what I was talking about was the fact everyone there would pick off plates! The plates sitting in the window. Plates that weren't dead yet, and were waiting for the rest of the order to be taken to the guests.
But the money started sucking when they were forcing us to start tip sharing with the bartenders and the hosts!! The more people we got in, the more stuff we sold, which in turn caused us to have more money taken out of OUR tips to give to the host, that just sat people. They lowered the host pay from $7.50/hr to $3HR PLUS our TIPS. IT was pretty crappy. Then they took the hiring of the host job away, and would rotate it between the servers. And of course no server wanted to host because the pay was ****ty. The only "good" thing there was I was of the vets and the head trainer, so I ended up getting a set schedule, and being able to make some comments that were actually listened to. They were wanting to start training me to be a manager, but I left. :)

I am pooped today...makes me want sugary things to pump myself up. (but I won't, no worries) Tonight is the last class before our midterm and I am starting to freak. I have one night to study (tomorrow) and it's 10 chapters!!! I am going to do cardio tomorrow morning and then hopefully on Thursday (the day of the midterm) but if I stay up late on Wednesday I'm going to skip it and just go Friday and Saturday...it'll still be 4 days of cardio this week then so that'll be good. I'll probably do HIIT tomorrow morning and hopefully Thursday morning to keep my energy high throughout the day.
Gonna put some coffee on in about an hour to help get through the rest of the day ;)

That's disguisting - The servers eat off food that is going to be served to someone? If I was a server, I would have definitely made a comment about that to the person doing it. That's nasty. :( It makes me not want to eat out anymore. I don't understand why people don't realize that one day THEY might be the ones waiting for that food! *shudder*
Don't you have a minimum wage in the States? It's illegal to pay someone $3/hr in Canada. I THINK the minimum now is over eight bucks in MB...

I know, pretty gross huh MsJ?? I agree, and I reprimand people that do it but they laugh...usually it's not off plates directly, more off of the food waiting to be plated if that makes any sense.
Minimum wage doesn't exist for servers because of the tips. We made $2.13 an hour for a long time and then just last month it increased to $3.13! Wow, a whole dollar! Haha, it depends on where you live too...here in Florida it's like the above but in Minnesota it's minimum wage (which I think is $5.25 or maybe $6.15??? I don't know). they think your tips compensate more than enough to pay you-which is true, just most servers don't record that for taxes, which has it's own pros and cons.

Well, min. wage here is last I knew .. I haven't worked in over a year. It was $5.25/hr. BUT When someone is a server they cut that down because they make you claim tips as your income. So with tips, some days you can earn up to $15/hr Of course that only depends on the days. Some days you get your hourly pay and only say $30 in tips or less on super slow days. Also, as a server .. unless you work a double .. (two shifts in one day) or a straight double (working the entire day with no break between shifts- also known as HELL ;) ) You are only working 3-4 hours tops ... 4-5 if you work the night shift. Which is why they have serving as being one of the top 10 most stressful jobs. At least in the US.
Also, when it comes to people picking off food ... it's not just one person .. it's just about everyone that works there. Oh, and we know that it happens in other places.. which is why most servers ... I'm not saying all .. eat at the place they work at. Why? Because we can go back there and get our food, and know that no one has put their grubby hands on it. At least we could go back there when ever we wanted where I worked. The servers also hated me when I was the expo (person who gets the food from the windows and makes sure it is up to par and has the amount of servings it's supposed to have on the dish) because I would be yelling at them all the time for touching the food. I wasn't the only expo that did that, so needless to say, the expos weren't the most liked people. Which is why I rarely go out to eat. But it's also something you just choose not to think about. Because if you thought about it.. no one would EVER go out to eat. It happens everywhere, there is no stopping it. Not unless you are sitting right there as your food is being prepared and served to you right in front of you. Now, when things did hit the floor .. we got new stuff. LOL
Tips for Eating out:
Also, don't be rude to your sever ... they handle your food most of the time.
Don't talk on your cell whilst ordering. Don't take more than 20 minutes to choose something to eat. Don't stay long than 45 minutes to eat your dinner(why? Because most servers have an area they are serving of the restaurant, and if people camp out at a table in their section, that means less money(tips) for the server because they couldn't turn their tables fast enough.) Understand you are not the ONLY customers that the server has. Of course, if they haven't been to your table at least every 5-10 minutes or you haven't at least seen them walking around in that amount, then you can get annoyed. :) Some servers aren't the best at multi-tasking, which of course is something that is mandatory to know how to do.

Geesh! What a scary night you had with those guys in that car... I'm impressed with the response time with the cops... wow! Glad no one got hurt.
And thank you SO MUCH for your post in my journal - it meant a lot and while I still want to feel challenged, I do feel a lot better about where I'm at :)
Like Megs said - it's about the journey, not the destination... I just think my journey needs to be more on the scenic route :D
I'm pooped today too, BUT good for you for skipping those sugary things, you know the first jolt might be great, but the post-sugar crash sucks... :p I like the coffee idea! I'm drinking my (sugar-free) monster energy drink myself right now :D bzzt!

Yeah, she's right about most servers not claiming their tips. But if it's done by a credit card, at least in most place, the tip is already adding into the PC and therefore taken out of your pay. I could go a whole week without claiming anything, but on my paycheck at the end of the week it would say I made like $130 in tips.

I was also thinking Hooter's is probably a safe place to eat since you can see into their kitchen too, and see the servers when they get the food. So they don't have a chance to pick it off. lol Although I don't really care for their food, and I also don't particularly care to see nasty women wearing clothes my daughter could fit into while I am trying to eat. *evil grin*

I would suck as a waitress anyhow! hehehe

Well, I was super tired last night so I went to bed at 10 and got up for cardio this morning. I got my 2 mile run in...pushed the last .5 mile on each mile pretty well. I got in about 6:30 AM and by 7:30...the time I leave for work it just started sprinkling...by the time I got to work it was pouring sheets of rain!!! I am soaked sitting here right now....hair, pants, feet, you name it. Oh well, at least I got my cardio in ;) I would have been so mad if it started raining earlier!!!!
Today will be back/bi at lunch...a quickie...and then off to study all night. Have a great one ladies!!!
Edit: I also resisted a bag of mini powdered sugar donuts last night...it seems when I get stressed with school my inhibitions about eating bad all go out the window...damn, stress is like alcohol-all inhibitions are gone! But I didn't eat them, although I really wanted to and thought one just wouldn't hurt. It would have turned into a MAJOR binge though-especially because my hubby bought two bags. Dang he has some bad eating habits! Oh well, tonight will be a challenge too :D

Then I really rationalize it and think that food can't make me happy! So, now is a good time to post today's nutrition. Ok, do you want to hear something GROSS? I was reading an article about Reese Witherspoon...and she was saying that Dolly Parton was her hero, and that one of the things Dolly Parton often does if she is craving a donut/pastry thing is get a donut, chew it up really good, then spit it out into a cup! All the flavor none, of the cals. I was dying when I read this, so I decided to test this little trick on a cupcake I had just baked.
Well...it tasted really good..but all that chewing made my mouth fill up with saliva, and when I tried to spit it into a cup, lets just say it got MESSY.
And then on top of that, the smell and taste of the cupcake made me HUNGRY! LOL. So I'll never do THAT again.
But hey, its always a last resort if you get an irresistable "OMG I NEED that food!" moment ;)
DISCLAIMER: I am in no way condoning chewing up and spitting out food as a regular means to losing weight!! In fact, it was messy enough for me to never try it again :D

I'm glad you'll never try it again, because that is an eating disorder, Tai!!! Developing strange eating habits like that is one way to quickly develop worse disorders and health problems. Also, sugar starts dissolving and digesting in the mouth, so you are still taking in cals anyway by chewing the foods.
http://www.anred.com/defslesser.html
Chewing and spitting
The person puts food in his/her mouth, tastes it, chews it, and then spits it out.
Some people think this is a separate eating disorder. It is not. It is a calorie-control behavior commonly seen in anorexia nervosa, and sometimes in bulimia and eating-disorder-not-otherwise-specified. The person is creative, allowing some experience and enjoyment of food but avoiding calories. Since essential nutrients are not incorporated into the body, chewing and spitting can be just as harmful to health as are starvation dieting and binge eating followed by purging.
http://adam.about.com/reports/000049.htm
Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified
A fourth category called eating disorders not otherwise specified (NOS) has been established to define eating disorders not specifically defined as anorexia or bulimia. This category includes the following:
Infrequent binge-purge episodes (occurring less than twice a week or having such behavior for less than three months).
Repeated chewing and spitting without swallowing large amounts of food.
Normal weight and anorexic behavior.
Such patients tend to be older at diagnosis. Although less serious than other eating disorders, these patients still face similar health problems, including a higher risk for fractures and other conditions.

Terra-that is too funny because I'm sure you don't cook junk anyway!
Powells!! I would have a negative time in that race if they took off 5 minutes for every donut I ate!!! I can pound em down I tell you! It was a childhood thing I think...My mom got me donuts every weekend...she got me 3 chocolate covered ones. I could eat two one day and then one the next. That was my treat for the weekend. Mmmmm, ignorance as a child was such bliss :D
Tai-I have heard of that disorder...I have also tried that with coffee cake (another nemisis). I wanted to eat that crap so bad after I did that that it wasn't worth it. No more! I will just resist completely now :( Really, that didn't work at all for me.
Jewels, those are really interesting links, thanks for posting them :)
SV-It's funny how someone so committed to their health as a bber/figure competitor would do that. I guess we all struggle.
Ah well, good ol willpower needs to be challenged too...it grows like muscles didn't you know??!! I wish it did. I am having some major struggles today thinking of all the bad food I want. I might cheat this weekend. I am sick of my chili, sick of veggies, sick of eggs, NOT sick of my happy cookies ;) My office was just talking about critical violations in restaurants and how bad chinese buffets are around here....instead of it grossing me out like it should, I am thinking about all the things that I love at those places. This sucks. I haven't cheated since May 6, and I don't want to start now but man, I really want some bad food!
My challenge included a little cheat for myself, not a whole meal though. Do you guys ever feel like you need a whole meal of cheat to feel satisfied? That's what I'm feeling and re-reading that statement it sounds terrible!! I don't sound like someone committed to losing bf. Geesh, I was doing so well! Just makin it through the days now I guess. This is a process and it was going extremely easy for me for the first month...how times have changed. I hope this gets easy again!!!! ;)

There are tons of clean foods to eat, so make sure you don't get sick of a certain kind of eating it all the time. That might be why you're struggling with your diet right now? Also, everyone needs cheats now and again, but be sure that you don't go overboard and ENJOY it! :) Try to pick something a little on the healthy side, but to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if you felt gross and overstuffed after eating whatever your 'bad' choice is, and realized that you like the way healthy eating makes you FEEL, as well as how you LOOK. :) You're doing great - everyone has slumps and cravings.

You are right MsJ, I would feel gross. I said it before but I don't know if I'd have the courage to actually put some bad food in my mouth without feeling sooooo guilty! My outlook on food has definitely changed and next week I will be changing things up food-choice wise a ton! That is so true, I probably am getting sick of all my food.
Hm, everyone does have these times, just little statements like that can put me right back on track. Thanks MsJ, tonight may have been a disaster without you! I appreciate everyone's concern, and I regret even posting the chewing thing in arose's journal. I just want to assure everyone that I absolutely in no way have an eating disorder. I wasn't trying the chew/spit thing because I'd like to develop a new way of not cheating, I was simply utterly in shock that anyone could do that on a regular basis. I am a curious person, I just had to try it myself :)
I was VERY MUCH joking when I said arose could use that as a method to get over cravings, and I can't tell you Arose, how sorry I am that it must not have come off that way. Chewing up the food and spitting it out was gross, messy and a complete waste of time and food! I guess what I thought was a funny story of the ridiculous extremes people go to to NOT eat sweets seemed more like a very twisted suggestion, and I'm sorry. My intention was really to show you that waiting out that occasional craving is FAR more healthy and intelligent then chewing something up and spitting it out. I guess I totally blew that point! :(
Just for the record I am and always will be a complete advocate of eating clean, wholesome foods and also the occasional treat...without guilt, regrets or regurgitation :)
Sorry to worry everyone, I'll keep my mouth shut from now on!

Please DON'T keep your mouth shut, Tai!
Obviously horrible suggestions like that are out there, and that's how YOU found out about it, and decided to give it a try. I only wanted to avoid having others try what you did, and find that - 'hey, this might really work on a regular basis' or something, and then have them develop a serious e.d.. I never for a moment thought that you had an eating disorder, I just wanted to ensure that you knew that such activities were clearly not healthy. I am annoyed that Reese would make that comment to a magazine, and hope that she gets bad press about it. And HELP! So many women are awed by her body transformations for movies, and I'm sure that many would try her brutal 'tricks' to solve their own weight issues.
Asking the question is the way to get information, so please don't feel bad about bringing up this topic, or any other one in the future!
Arose - I'm thrilled that I helped in some way to curb that craving! I know that it really works for me to think about how lazy and gross I'll feel after overeating or eating poorly. :)

I know how you feel about the whole cheating thing. If I cheat ... it's my fault. I am the one that buys all the food. So if it's bad and it's in the house it's my fault. So I don't buy it. Although .. I do have breaking points .. I love those cheap oatmeal cookies ... and so does my daughter(lol). Well, I bought some a few weekes ago .. I had to throw them out. I bought them again the other day ... dumb me went to the store hungry ... I threw them away today. lol They are only .88C for a big package, but there have been other "bad" foods that I bought, and ended up throwing away that have cost a bit more money. Throwing away money like I have it to throw away. lol Which we don't!
Also, I was going to get that Jergens stuff today ... and wouldn't you know .. it was ALL gone!!! LOL I saw where it would have been and saw that it came in different shades. Apparently it's very popular. :D Guess I'll have to visit another store.

Powells, you know I was getting ready this morning and I though to myself, I should just have some extra "happy cookies" (oats and egg whites, etc) instead because those are my favorite meal! Great idea;)
Jess-my husband would kill for those oatmeal cream pies if that's what you are talking about! Every time we go grocery shopping he's like, wow, only $1....PLEEEAASSEE??? (I pay for everything so what I say goes into the cart!) Good thing is I don't like em! I didn't know that Jergens was so popular...maybe I should use it more often!
Jeni-I know, my legs look like death if I don't have any color :( I think my friend is alright, haven't heard from him and won't see him until work saturday. I'm pretty sure he'd call if something else happened!
So I didn't post my WO yesterday odly enough so here it is:
Back/bis
Assisted Chin ups 1x10, 2x8....improvement!!!
bent bb rows 3x10
hyperextensions 3x12
reverse flys 4x12
incline curl supersetting w/21's-what was I thinking?? 2 sets each, inclinex8 reps
Didn't get out for cardio today...got about 4.5 hours of sleep studying for this dang midterm tonight. TOO much info for one test to cover...especially when we've only been in class for 2.5 weeks and it's over 10 chapters!!! WTH? This professor is nuts! Anyhoo, off to catch up with everyone!!

AROSE! Make some oatmeal cream pies for that man! LOL Happy cookies + homemade filling...he would be too happy! You could even make fat free/sugar free ice cream and fill the cookies with that. Then BOTH of you could have a major treat, with out it feeling like a cheat!
EXTRA GOOD LUCK ON THE MIDTERM!!!! :D

THANK YOU JULIE! :D I left out in my previous post how much I really appreciate you looking out for me, and for all the other girls that check this site out. I know all too well how many of us have or have dealt with borderline ED and I think you're absolutely right to make certain everyone knows that "The spit method" is not a viable solution for dealing with cravings!! I am impressed and proud of the large amount of info you put together in your post, please don't think I was mad or upset that you posted it!! Just wanted to make sure no one else ;)
And arose, great minds DO think alike :D (and soon, we will have even greater BODIES to match our enormous sexy brains!!!)
Arose- I donīt know where I have been... I just did a major catch up of your journal... I am sorry I have not been around. I just learned so much from reading a few of the posts that you guys have thrown up here.
Wow, I am completely shocked over here. I had never heard of the chew and spit, and as much as I know its a bad idea...humm... interesting.
Donīt get me wrong, Im not thinking about it. Ha, Im trying to bring myself away from that cr@p, but I really did appreciate the information that was posted on here.
Powells, I am with you on feeling like oatmeal and protein powder is a cheat. and the best part is that i can eat 4 cups of it a day!! what a fun way to "cheat"
T- you and Ms. J had some excellent posts. I wish I could rep you more on this as you do deserve it. So if anyone out there reading these, please send reps out for this topic!!!!!!!!

hehe no, these are like the store brand regular oatmeal cookies. They aren't THAT bad for you ... but still, when you eat like 5 in a row .. they are bad.. LOL But I do know the cookies you are talking about, and I am not a big fan of those either.
Looks like you had a great work out!

WB-That is SUCH a great idea! I won't tell him that it's fat free/sugar free ice cream though...then he wouldn't touch it;) Thanks for the EXTRA good luck-I NEED IT :D
Good to hear from you Megs!
Jess, I see what you mean now, yes, those cookies would be much more tempting to me rather than the oatmeal cream pies. And thanks for the good luck, like I said, I am gonna need it!!
I am having happy cookies and yogurt for dinner tonight to get some carbs in for the exam...that probably doesn't have any real logic in it but I figure my brain will work well off of some complex carbs and a tad of protein.
Totals today:
Total: 1770
Fat: 39 355 21%
Sat: 8 72 4%
Poly: 11 95 6%
Mono: 16 144 9%
Carbs: 195 655 39%
Fiber: 32 0 0%
Protein: 164 656 39%
May exchange eggs for my pistachios later tonight and get some fat from them because they were pretty dang good last night! That would shift some cals around (lower) and would make carbs lower. That's alright for today because I have not done any physical activity at all and don't plan on it other than getting up to go to the bathroom....yikes! Ah well, tomorrow will be a good sprint session with chest/tris. Have a great day!

Hey!
I think the carbs pre-test are a good idea. Your brain will need them to function properly and think clearly. Ever tried no/low carb for a few days? The brain fuzz is nasty...nothing you want to do when you are taking a test. Eat those carbs, girl! :)

Cookies with Oats and Eggs.....that sure fits perfect with my diet =0) how do you make them?
=0) Best of luck, everything is looking great! Keep those cheats under control you can do it. Its hard and I think its different for every person when it comes to 'those cheats' and cravings. I guess you do reach a point when you are done cheating and you start noticing the difference in your body that cheating is not even worth it anymore. Ok maybe once a week or something but your cheats will not even be close to what they used to be. Ok sorry Im rambling =0) good luck- you can do it!

WHEW! Thanks everyone for the well wishes!!!! That means a lot :)
The test went well, I think I got in the high 80s low 90s. Not bad for all the studying I put in. It was an interesting night though! About 1/2 hour in to the test I had to pee (of course) so I got up and went to walk outside and as soon as I stepped out of the classroom I blacked out and fell down the step!! I tore up my knee and shin!!! I layed there for a while but popped up when someone came out to check on me ;) Then I went through the whole getting hot flashes, chills, crying thing....this used to happen to me a TON! Docs said it was low blood pressure which is true but I just hate it! My hubs knew exactly what happened and he was worried but all is well, especially with my measurements today!!!!!
Today's weigh in: 178.6 (down 2.4 pounds from last week :D)
The funny thing is it didn't really matter, I was more excited to see my measurements!!!
Waist 30 (same)
Lower abdomen 37.5 (down .5 inch)
Bust 37.5 (same)
Butt 43!!!! (down .5 inch...1 more inch to go by July!!)
Thigh 25.5 (same, a tad disappointing)
Arm 11.5, 12 flexed (down .5 inch)
calf 13.25 (down .25 inch :(...must have been a freak measurement last week!)
So I am ecstatic about this! I hope I continue to see such progress...I know it'll slow down but I secretly hope not! I think I'm right on track to get my measurements to Waist 29.5, Hips 42, Bust 37.5 (same as now) for my friends wedding in July!
This morning's WO:
Did 10 or 11 sprints...I lost count!!! I started off really sluggish but then gave myself a pep talk and my two favorite songs on my hubs MP3 player came on---"I Do" by Toya and "ATliens" by Outkast! They totally pumped me up. Off to check on everyone but I HAVE to get some work done today---haven't been doing too much lately :O!
Oh, almost forgot my happy cookie recipe---off the thread in the nutrition forum:
4 cups oats
1/2 cup liquid I can't believe its not butter
1 cup splenda
4 egg whites
CINNAMON!!!
Then mix it all up and let it sit for a few hours. Put them in the oven for about 15-20 minutes at 350 and walah! Makes 16 cookies with each one having 1/4 cup oats. YUM! Just got done with mine for today ;)

Nah, the low blood pressure thing is nothing to worry about and I've learned to control it really...eating often, not standing up quickly, not letting myself get REALLY stressed, etc. It used to be terrible, I'd faint and be out for a good 10 minutes! Now I can feel it coming on *usually* hehe!!

I did get really lightheaded during my WO today and then after when I was tying my shoes I got up really quickly and felt lightheaded and really dizzy...hmpf, hopefully this will stop! I ate about 45 minutes before the WO-carbs and all! If it doesn't get better in a couple weeks I'll go see a doc-and they'll tell me again that I just need to tough it out!
Today's WO, Chest/tri/shoulders
Incline bench: 1x12 1x8 1x10
flys 2x12 1x15...will increase weight next week
flat bench 3x8
(flat bench supersetted with dips)
Dips 2x10
Shoulder press 3x10
medial raises 3x12
skullcrushers 3x12
pullovers 1x15---was running late so I had to go!!!
Have a great day gals, and really, your support is incredible!!! Thanks!

Great job on the weightloss and stats!
I'm glad you are okay. I had a friend that would pass out when getting out of bed, if she got up too quickly. She had really, really low blood pressure and had to be really careful if she stood up to fast, etc. Everyone worried about her, especially about her hitting her head when she went down.

You know, my best friend is just like that...she has blood pressure issues. Of course, she has some random cardiovascular disease called POTS -- don't ask me what it stands for, but it's bizarre -- but she can't stand up too quickly or she'll pass out as well.
Arose, hon, don't worry about getting a swelled head -- I don't think that's possible. You're the most grounded, down to earth person I know! Paichka-POTS?? haha that was funny for a second, but then I looked it up. POTS is Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and it is a disorder of the autonomic nervous system. There were a slew of symptoms and here are the ones that describe me to a T:
Lightheadedness
Dizziness
Palpitations
Blurred Vision
Fainting or near fainting
Anxiety
Flushing
Headache/migraine
Intolerance to heat
Feeling cold all over
Low blood pressure upon standing
Bloating after meals
Delayed gastric emptying
Polyuria (excessive urination) ------ LOL!! :D Don't we all have this one??
Tunnel vision
Sleep disorders
Cold hands
Chills
Reduced pulse pressure upon standing --- hence the fainting/lighthead/dizziness, etc.
( I guess most of the symptoms described me!! )
The thing is all these symptoms are pretty generic....I could have these from anything-including stress, daily life, etc! They said one of the four reasons it starts is from a traumatic event, which happened to me the first time this all started. Hmmm....I go in for an annual exam in July and I'll have to ask my doc about it! It's funny because when we used to have to take our pulse for gym class I never could because it's so soft!!! Everyone made fun of me and said I was dead lol!!! Thanks for the info Sunny, very interesting!
And thanks for the compliments Sunny, they mean so much!!! :D
Jeni-LOL! I have a hard enough time making myself do sprints LOL! Glad I could help :D
Alright, enough babble--- This morning's WO was planned on the beach but rain made that a no-go. Here it is:
Sunny's plyo WO, 2 times through (damn girl, that is quite the feat to do that first one 6 times and the last two cycles 4 times!--good work!)
The rain let up a tad so I pulled a Megin and went running in the sprinkles...it was AWESOME! I only went a mile but I felt like I was racing it because of the rain. Glad I did it, I was pretty unmotivated this morning. Off to work in a few hours to I'll catch you gals later!

HOW MUCH FUN WAS IT!!! Its been years since I played in the rain
And donīt you now feel amazingly great...I almost wish it would rain more often (but then the hurricanes follow and thats just no good for the floridians!!)
Oh, and about my earlier post. I really do mean it, each and every word. You are developing more than just the physical traits, you are pushing school work and the hubs and kitchen time...
I must secretly admit that I really do miss cooking (even though I donīt really cook, more like mix stuff that doesnīt need to be heated) but it was starting to grow on me ;)

Thanks abbs for looking at my pics!!!
Megs--I know, I am becoming attached to cooking as well-you'll have that stove and oven on before you know it back in FL!
SB-happy happy cookies!!! YUM! Made some of my own last night but left em in for 30 minutes by accident, can you say crunchy?? LOL! mmmm, PB, haven't had that for over a month!!! That would definitely bring on some strong cravings that I think I have beat!
Meggie-I posted the recipe on page 14 of my journal and I'm too lazy to post it again :D
Whew, what a weekend, I am totally pooped. I cheated yesterday a bit too, which I don't feel bad about because it was small...I stayed under 2500 cals at THE MOST! Today I'm cutting back on cals a tad to even it out. I did sprints this morning...10 to be exact and I couldn't run another step.
Legs will be at lunch today, not looking forward to it because I'm so tired. Blah, I HATE weekends!!!!
My mom is coming to town on Wednesday and I am insanely excited!!! I haven't seen her since before christmas and I MISS HER! My plan is to go out to eat with her (she'll be here till Sunday) but to eat cleanly at every restaurant...which will usually mean grilled chicken breast and veggies. I'll get in all my weight workouts before she gets here but I'll still do cardio while she is here.
I'm not even going to say what I did this weekend because it'd take up 4 pages so today I'll start logging everything activity/nutrition wise again. Have a great day ladies....I have hit the one month mark of my weight loss journey and I will post total one month stats later....when I get more energy :p

No, arose, no...
Not a pointless post at all. I come to the boards when Im not in the highest of spirits and post some stupid paragraph that when I reread it later sounds like im a 5 year old...but the replys that you get to certain posts can totally bring you up from the low feeling.
You measurements will be great. I wouldnīt worry too much about the numerical stats though, remember, first and formost its about learning to be healthy and how to eat (how to cook for us) and how to live. Its a new way of life...
TAKE THE NAP!!! You more than deserve to take your break, and actually have a break. If you push yourself into a workout that you just really do not want to do then you will end up not enjoying yourself. Yes, there are times when you need to get yourself motivated, but coming from you..take the day off!
Could this feeling be nervousness of your parental visit?

Awe! If I moon you will that get you out of the downer mood? :D I have a SUPER white butt, so it might blind you. LOL
I agree with PP, take a nap! I've had to do that before. Heck it was last week. LOL I was SO tired, I wasn't in the mood to do anything, and I wasn't feeling like working out. So I slept. :)
And your post is not pointless. You've read my journal .. LOL I write books of "pointless" stuff. HA HA HA But it's a journal .. that's what you do. It's YOUR journal.. post whatever you want. And like the PP said someone might just come along and help you get out of the funk.
I agree, grilled shrimp is WONDERFUL. I am a shrimp nut! I don't get to eat it as often as I would like. But I do love my shrimp.
Oh, I finally got some of that Jergens Natural Glow stuff. I got it yesterday. There was ONE tube left for Fair skin and I snatched it! :) So we'll se how I look in a week or two.
Hope your day is getting better!

yep take a nap.. I know if the first 16 oz of coffee doesn't work that I need a nap. Everyone has down days eh. I'm feeling good today. I replaced my music.. it seems to be helping a lot. Believe it or not but math without music puts me to sleep.. haha.
You have been doing great Arose. You'll reach your goals. We're here to listen to whatever you want to write.

Alright, well sorry to disappoint terra, jess, and megs, I did not take a nap ;) I went and did legs. I can't get behind this week because of my dear ole ma coming to visit! And I feel a *bit* better now...I will take that nap tonight when I get home from work :D
Legs:
Squats 1 warm up set, then 3x10
Sumo squats 3x12
SLDL 3x12
walking lunges 2x12 each leg
calf raises 3x12
Hmmm, doesn't look like much does it?? Oh well, got er done and will have DOMS tomorrow for sure.

Megs-I am a bit nervous about my ma coming but I miss her sooooo much, she is my only family member I really keep in touch with on a regular basis. She is the best! I cleaned like a mad woman this weekend and my mom said she will be here two days earlier than planned!!!!!! YAY! By sunday we'll be at each other's throats but that'll be good for us ;)

Yeah - those low cals threw me for a moment there too  way low, but I see what you mean about it averaging out over a couple of days.

Hope you have a great weekend with your mom. I'm not close with mine at all. So I don't really have anything to say. lol I don't know anything about mother/daughter relationships, except for the one I have with my daughter, but she's 1. lol It's a little different with adulthood.
Coffee never works for me to stay awake. I drink it way too much, and drink it strong. My body is use to it. I can drink a cup right before I go to bed, and still have no issues falling asleep. When I bleed, I bleed caffeine. lol
Hope you had a good night at work and then took that nap! :)

Arose -- hon, I'm glad you're feeling better. Sometimes naps are what we need, sometimes kicking a little butt in the gym is a better mood-booster. I'm so glad you're excited about your mom coming to visit...I miss my mom SOOOOO much. That nap last night was EXACTLY what I needed!!! I slept for an hour and it was so amazing (and hubs wasn't even home to keep me awake!...it's tough when you live in 500 square feet with two rooms ;))
Anyhoo, this morning was off on cardio (day after legs) and lunch will be chest/tris/shoulders. So I got to sleep in today...which was really nice! Bit o' DOMS today, not bad at all though, quite the change from the 3-4 days of DOMS I would have before with legs!
Paichka--my mom is coming TOMORROW!!! She'll be here until Sunday. She is coming from Minneapolis (aka, the BEST city in the entire world)...where I grew up...hopefully she'll get to enjoy some sun! That's cute that your mom stays up late to talk to you on IM, I could see my mom doing that too :)

Hi, today was chest/shoulders/tris although I ran out of time completely!!!! And my fury from this morning didn't quite make it to 1 PM so I was kinda tired :(
Incline bench 3x12
flat bench 3x10
flys 3x12
shoulder press 3x10
dips 1x12 1x8
That's it!!! Hopefully the tris/shoulders got a bit more of a workout from the chest exercises. I have just been exhausted lately, need to get more sleep. I have also been thinking about starting Lipo 6 in August...depending on cost. And I read up about Ready 4 War so we'll see about that one too. If anyone has any experience with these let me know. I need some kinda boost!! I just have been waaaayyyy too tired to push the workout, I was laying on the flat bench today between sets and wanted to close my eyes and take a nap!!! LOL! That would've been a sight!
Both the hubs and I are getting pretty burned out this summer. I think it's because of the weather too---you know your not supposed to work as hard when it's hot out, you should be at the beach surfing!!! We agreed last night that after our craziness of school is over and he is officially a "doctor" then we will save up for a couple of months at random jobs, quit them and then do absolutely nothing for one month! HEAVEN! This of course isn't for another 2 years but we have dreams :)

So hubs is going to be a Doctor??? How cool is that?! What kind of practice?

Okay, this morning it was sprints and I went for 10 although I was absolutely exhausted!!! Right now I am feeling a pretty darn good high though ;)
Sb-I put "doctor" in quotes before because he is getting his Doctorate in Psychology (similar to a PhD). He's not gonna be a MD. He only has one more year of studies left and then an internship and he's done!!! And I was low cal-ing for a couple days to offset my cheat, which also probably made me really tired :(
Vanilla Bean-Hmmm, notice I've never mentioned my dad....let's just say I know what you mean!
Paichka and hotmama-I plan on restin up this weekend!!!! I got Friday afternoon off of work and all day Saturday so I am ready for some fun!!! (and relaxation of course) I love it when my mom comes, it's like a mini-vacation.

Great job on the sprints! :) I wish I could get myself up to do cardio. I try to hold on to any sleep that I get. It's my own fault though. lol I've been thinking about waking up early to do the cardio. DH has to be at work at 7:30 two days a week, and 6am the other days. So if I wanted to get in my cardio -alone- I would have to wake up at 5am! LOL And well, I just don't have that kind of motivation! LOL

Thanks for the encouragement ladies on the sprints :D
Last night we went to outback with my mom and I saved about 700 cals for it. I had 8 grilled shrimp and 2 HUGE skewers of veggies...I asked for them not to be grilled with either butter or oil but I think it was loaded  So I alloted about 1000-1100 cals for the meal. I was going for the bread and my hubby stopped me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is the BEST! Saved me there ;)
So I ended up with around 2000-2100 cals yesterday and I felt really bad about it...just when I get over my last cheat I eat all that food, with a salad!! So that's probably another 100 cals. So dissapointed in myself :(
Just for all that I got up earlier than normal and ran another mile this morning to make the total 3 miles in about 30 minutes...I was DYING on the last .5 mile it was so freakin hot! I will walk at lunch today for .5 hour and decrease my cals by about 200 today. This will even yesterday out....I HATE "evening" things out, just want to eat right and have it pay off. I am nervous about my weigh in tomorrow and I'm trying to drink TONS of water today.
But my mom said she LOVED my arms and wants them :D We are going to the gym tomorrow together and I'm gonna show her the weights!!!
Blah, I don't want my progress to stop!!!!! We aren't going out tonight but we will be tomorrow and on Saturday.....tomorrow is the only thing I'm worried about but I'll try to get the best thing on the menu (or not on the menu). Have a great day ladies and I'll post my nutrition a bit later!!!

AROSE! You are doing fine! Your mom even said so, you know that you are doing great, and so do we! Your measurements prove that you are making progress.
Your cheat meal was a CHEAT...treat it as such and don't feel bad about it. If you find yourself too consumed with it, just stop having cheats. If you feel like you need to compensate by dropping your calories and carbs a little, go ahead. Just don't drop cals and carbs AND try to run yourself to death.
I'm not trying to be funny...I promise. Are you starting your period soon? That always makes me feel gross and bloated. Maybe this is the cause of feeling not so great and "gross?"

Thanks guys...
WB-yes, Sunday night was a cheat and I felt pretty good about it, not bad at all. Then last night I thought I was doing well with the shrimp and veggies but I don't know if they used a ton of butter or not, even when I asked them not to! I was afraid to send it back-DOH! It's just getting to me today....and no, unfortunately I can't blame it on my period :(
Terra-Sunday I had a cheat so I lowered cals on Monday and Tuesday. Felt great. Yesterday my mom came into town and we went to outback and I thought I would do well with the Shrimp, salad, and veggies but I don't think they were that good (with butter/oil) and I ate EVERYTHING! Yes, I think it was somewhere between 300-500 cals over...just makes me feel bad!
I will do great ALL weekend and will not eat out of my diet except for dinners out with my ma. Then it will be good food and I will MAKE SURE they don't use ANY other butter/spices/oil AT ALL. I will send it back if I think they do.

Don't worry about it! It's not like you go out all the time and you only exceeded by 300 cals.
That's great about your mom wanting to join you. I wish I could convince my mom to come with me to the gym. My mom wants to lose 15 pounds, but she is going to eat less (aka starve herself). She loves to swim so I told her that she should go, her work pays for a monthly pool pass. THen my dad got on me that some people don't have the luxury of being able to work out because they are too busy. You know, because I don't do anything all day except go to the gym. Unfortuntaley my mom buys into that crap so she won't go swimming because others will view her as lazy for taking time for herself. Ugghhhh.

Okay - I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to butt in... I seriously doubt your meal could have come to 1000-1100 calories...unless you were anwhere near a bloomin' onion. I'm sure it wasn't quite that high. Strip away the shrimp and veggies (prolly < 200 cals) and you're left with butter... I bet you overestimated.
I swear, this is why I dread going out to eat... how pathetic.. I know. But I don't like not being in control of what's on my plate. In some instances I've actually taken my own food to restaurants. Of course, then I'm "obsessed" LOL, oh well... (and I wonder why the lunch crowd here at work never invites me anymore.... )
By the way, I think it's great that you're taking your mom to the gym!!

Okay, I feel so incredibly good right now, I am on the biggest high, have felt the most energetic and fantastic in weeks!!!! I will now explain why:
1. Had a kick-ass walk on incline for 20 minutes (more like a hike)--made me feel WAY better about my meal last night.
2. CLASS WAS CANCELED TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!! I get to go home at 5 instead of 8:30! I am realizing this is a HUGE stressor for me.
3. MY MOM IS HERE!! So now this means I get to spend MORE time with her!!!!!
Okay, usually I'm not very religious but I definitely think God had a hand in my day today---He knew just what I needed! Wow, I feel so blessed right now!!!!!
Alright, that was kinda hokey but who cares??!!! So tonight will be going out to eat again but you know, sometimes family is more important that 300 calories! I will definitely make a super healthy choice but I'm not gonna worry about it because there is just so much more to life! Geesh, I must be bipolar or something!!!! (A bit of a change from this morning ;))
Anyhoo, you ladies rock and I really appreciate your support. It's really motivating and definitely kicks me out of some of this funk I've been feeling this week. THANK YOU :)

Hotmama-that is so nice, thanks for the compliment ;) You'll get to this stage in NO TIME! Sorry to hear about your parents...they have to figure all that out on their own, it would be hard for me not to preach though!
I basically ignore my dad when he starts crap like that. I've been dealing with it for years so I'm good at ignoring him :-).
Great job today. Enjoy your dinner tonight!

HURRAY!!! I am SO happy for you!!! You needed a wonderful day! :)
So, what's on the menu tonight? (meaning where'd ya go?) ;)
When we go visit my dad, we don't eat out at all. I usually go buy stuff and cook dinner every night we are there. lol Yeah, WONDERFUL vacation. But I don't mind it. My dad lives alone and lives the typical bachelor life, he NEEDS some home cooked meals. No tv dinners, no pork chop and rice, no pb & j's! He does go over to my brother's in-laws with them sometimes for dinner, but that's not very often.
Once again, you are doing wonderfully! Correct, a few meals aren't going to kill you or your hard work (unless of course they are laced with some sort of poision, and then, well that's it for everything, unless you are treated fast enough by a doctor. LOL Ok, see how my mind works!)
lol Ok, Have a great night!

EVERYONE-------------
I am so sorry for my insanely irrational behavior yesterday...I don't even want to go back and re-read any of it because I feel so embarrassed. You all are so great, and I feel like such a dope now!!!!! Sometimes I think my husband may have a point when he tells me I'm being irrational ;) Anyway, thanks everyone for your support and I am sorry about being such a worrying girl :D I'll get my month stats together and post em in a few hours. THANK YOU!
Jess, I cracked up about that poison comment...thanks for your support :D Really though, I appreciate you being so happy for me!! We went to Chilis and I had the fajita chicken salad (YUM) with low cal dressing on the side and no cheese. Wonderful!
And thanks hotmama!

This morning's WO WAS going to be 10 sprints but I was beat! I did 5 and couldn't muster it up (probably because of a tad of an over-do yesterday) so I stopped because it wasn't worth it. I'll get in some quality cardio tomorrow.

Sb-thanks for understanding :) hahahahhaa, 8th grade, I think not!!! I use that one too though, when people are talking about how tall they are, I say, oh, in 8th grade I was 5'8"!!!!!!!!! LOL! (Really, I was!) And a single digit pant size  Maybe I'll get back to that place someday...not the height, the pants! And you were all right, no setback whatsoever, feel really good right now!
Thanks for dropping by my journal HisKid :) I AM proud :D!!!!!!

Way to go!! Those numbers are awesome! Very, very proud of you!
See, and from what I hear .. a little cheat here and there isn't that bad, I heard it actually boosts your metabo, because your body gets use to eating those same clean foods all the time, and when you throw something "dirty" (lol) in there, it makes it work extra hard to get rid of it, thus having a bit of a boost to get rid of the ... "foreign" foods.
So anyhoot ... CONGRATS!! Keep up the AWESOME work! :D

Oh yeah, and the closest I've ever been to 5'8" is when I am standing on a step stool. ;) lol You get a totally different veiw from up there! :)

Wow, thanks everyone, I really appreciate it!!!! :D
Now I feel bad for what I am about to write.....not toooooo bad though....I fell off the wagon last night. I did really well all weekend with my mom here, eating clean, maybe a tad over maintanance but with clean foods but last night I didn't...And it carried over to this morning :( So, I am writing it off like bad debt, I had 13 hours of momentary insanity and now I am back, ready for action!
I did manage a 2 mile run yesterday in between thunderstorms :) I feel alright, I feel really ready to get on with the next month and see more changes so I think this "fall" was helpful in that respect....I got some MUCH needed rest and fuel so I am actually looking forward to leg day tomorrow!!!!!!! That hasn't happened in WEEKS! I am really happy right now. It is amazing what two days off work per week can do for someone ;)
I am going to go with no cheats until July 8...when i go home for my friend's wedding. (her wedding dinner will be my cheat :)) So I don't feel bad about anything, I feel energized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Let's go kick some fat's butt ladies, WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!! I figure we all have those moments of weakness and this time it got the better of me, but only with two meals. That is much better than before when I would say screw it for today too, I already ruined it with breakfast. What a learning process, things are starting to "click" :)

We'll forgive you for your temporary insanity ;)
Just get right back with the program.
July 8 is pretty soon! You can stay clean until then.
I have to go out to eat after my dress fitting and I'm going to try to be as healthy as possible .. that is only 1.5 weeks away now.

Thanks Terra, yup, right back on track today!!! good luck with your fitting :)
I did sprints this morning, 12 in all. Felt good, got a ton of sleep this weekend which was great.
Busy busy here at work. Feeling a bit bloated today after my 13 hours of insanity but I think I'll be feeling great by Wednesday. I probably set myself back about a week but I am okay with that. This week I'll work really hard to come in at the same measurements and weight as last week, of course I'd like smaller/lower but I think I blew that goal already!!!
No worries, I'll be back to last week's stats in no time (by Friday hopefully). Tonight is legs and cals again will be about 300 under "slow losing" this week due to my frightful weekend! I'll be at about 1500-1600 all week. Then next week I'll REALLY be back on track, PROMISE! Have a great day guys and I'll post my legs tomorrow probably.
