my bday was great. went to outback for dinner and had steak :D. yum. went and saw premonition--mary, do NOT see this movie. I was almost hysterical at the end. went shopping which was nice but didn't find much...got a pair of wo pants for cold chicago and a bracelet. still have $ to burn though so hopefully i can find more stuff.

I got drunk saturday night (paddy's day) which was SO much fun. I had a really good time and looked great too ;). We were out until 3AM...that hasn't happened in FOREVER so we pretty much slept all day sunday :p.

That's about it. just kind of twidling my thumbs until august i think....

Glad to hear you had a great bday!!
Any pics of this "looking great" evening?? :) whenever I feel that way I always take pictures hehe.

I just wanted to tell you that I experience the same exact thing with the breathing as you are going through.

I went to an asthma specialist because I diagnosed myself. When I went there, a nurse came in and gave me a breathing test and it came back 100%. Any person would think that means you do not have asthma (including the nurse that gave it to me). But this doctor I went to was great. He told the nurse to give me a breathing treatment and then they tested me again. My result went to 115%. Then, I was diagnosed with asthma. I am on a couple meds now and I can breathe!!!!

Just thought I would let you know that, because I know what it's like. And it really makes you hate cardio!!

I also noticed you're feeling like me about working out.....really not wanting to do it at all. I hope that gets better for you because it's not fun.

Have a great night!

Have a great night!Lisa! Thank you so much for your story! It gives me hope that this ISN'T just in my head! I'm seeing a pulmonologist in May so hopefully they'll be able to figure something out! Also, last week when I played bball it felt like I was a pack a day smoker :eek:. My lungs were killing me so bad....once i really got into the game i didn't notice the lack of breath so much as how bad my lungs hurt. hmm...we'll see. thanks for popping in!

Mornin ladies :)

I played bball last night--it was so fun! Not very intense games but fun anyway. next week intramurals start and i'll have three games a week! I'm pumped for that.

Not concentrating too much on diet. But I think I'll start lifting today or next week again. That'll be fun. Going to concentrate on high reps/little rest this time. I get great results going heavy but we'll see...I don't want anymore muscle mass---I'm pretty muscley as it is, just need to drop bf. My lean mass is about 134 lbs so for me that's enough muscle :o.

Anyway, just slowly starting to get back into training/diet/etc. I have been really stressed lately about different things so hopefully by next week they will all be straightened out and I'll let you know about them then :).

Happy Thursday all!

Hi All :o.

Just a check up...

Have dropped a good amount of weight lately, unfortunately most seems to be muscle. I haven't lifted in 4 weeks, just been playing bball for the last 2 weeks. My body composition has definitely changed for the worse but my skinny pants still fit great so I'm not being overly concerned about it right now. I've been eating the house too lately with no ill effects really in terms of significant fat gain. It's been nice just to eat 'whatever' and not have to put on the fat pants in the morning :p.

Hubs and I went out sunday night to Texas de Brazil for our 6 year anniversary of 'being together'. It is an AMAZING place---I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone, although there are only about 8 of them around the country....very pricey though so be ready :eek:.

My breathing has gotten progressively worse. I am calling everyday to see if there is a cancellation with my specialist. None so far :(.

This past week has been really stressful......finals are here for school so I'm putting in time there, this weekend I have to work everyday because of easter. Just kind of 'over it' AGAIN. As I was at the restaurant last weekend scraping a salad bowl clean in the dish room I just got hit with this 'what the hell am i doing?' type thought. I'm just ready to move on, unfortunately that will be to another restaurant in chicago until i find a 'real' job.

hubs is doing great. *heart flutters* He's awesome and the sweetest/funniest person I know. We're trying to book a trip to chi-town in June to look for apts but the fares are sky high then so we're waiting for a deal.

that's about it...just an update in my little world ;).

04-04-2007, 07:59 AM
YAY For the update Alecia....I MISSED YOU!!!

You and hubs are so cute...congrats on 6 years of being together...WOOHOO!! :D

There will defintiely be some deals to Chicago I'm sure..there are always are... Did you try Southwest? I'm not sure what flys out from your area..

They just opened a Texas De Brazil by us! What is the food like???

arose70
04-04-2007, 08:19 AM
Hi Mary :o. Thanks for missing me...I miss you guys too :). I still read, just don't post much.

Yea, we're waiting for a ding fare from southwest...they have them for may and july, just not june :confused:?

Texas de Brazil is INCREDIBLE!!!! OMG, I can still taste the food! haha! my mouth is watering!! It's brazilian and it's a really different set up. There is a salad bar where you start the night at and it is not just a salad bar---they have smoked salmon, sushi, lobster bisque, and 20 different cheeses i swear! Then you sit back down at your table and you have these little coins that are red on one side, green on the other. When you are ready for your next course (meat) you turn your coin to the green side and a bunch of guys with meat on skewers come to your table and offer you everything from grilled lamb, filet mignon, top round, pork, chicken, and my absolute favorite---garlic sirloin :eek:! It is SO SO SO good. They cut you a piece of meat and you can take as much as you like. Make sure to flip your coin back to red or people will keep coming with more food! And then you can get more meat, go back to the salad bar, etc. I have never eaten meat anything but medium well-well and some of these meats were medium rare but omg, they were insanely good! I passed on the chicken and pork---gimme more filet!

They also serve garlic mashed potatoes, cheese bisquit bites (YUM), and my FAVORITE thing there next to the garlic sirloin was the glazed bananas they served warm. There was a party in my mouth with those---amazing!

Each dinner is about $45 but if you sign up for the Texas de Brazil club on their website you get a free dinner for your birthday...25% off just for signing up, etc. GREAT deal there. The service was so great and all the guys with the meat were so nice and every question i had they'd say 'whatever you want'--so nice :).

So GO THERE NOW!

Yay for updating!! Been wondering how you were!

I like the "go with the flow" attitude. =) Very cool.

I REALLY hope they have a cancellation soon to see the specialist! Thats scary! I'm glad to see you can still manage to play some BBall though... GET BETTER NOW DAMNIT!

Hi Sarah! Well that's the interesting part---my breathing is SO good when i'm doing vigorous activity, I breath perfectly. It's when I'm just walking or sitting that I have trouble. Very weird. No cancellations yet---hopefully soon!

Okay, i thought this deserved a post of it's own---I am officially back in the land of the people living with DOMS :o. My legs are hurting like crazy this morning!

Yesterday's wo:

SLDL's---95lbs 3x10 (a bit of strength loss)
front squats----45lbs 2x8 (strength loss)
lunges---20lbs 2x12
leg press---?lbs 2x8 (can't remember the plate!)

YEow! And bball for 1 hour last night full court, no intramural game, just pick up.

Today will be walking at lunch and I'll be lifting legs again Thursday probably. Upper body will start after bball is done in 2 weeks ;).

Well, my co-ed bball team is first in the league with one more game to play...we rock :D.

And that's about it! I've eaten clean for one day now and it was definitely not as fun as eating chips/dip/trail mix/donuts but whatever :D.

I haven't gained *too* much fat--a bit but I've been able to really have control over my diet lately and not completely binge on things which is HUGE. This is the first time in 4 or 5 years that I've been able to go off of a diet for more than 3 weeks without getting fat fat fat. I've been without a diet for almost 2 months which has been great. This week I've added pp back in and my meal times so hopefully I can do a bit better with a few treats though ;).

HI ALECIA!!!!!!!! :D

I missed you!!!!! :p

First off, GREAT JOB with that workout and major DOMS!!!!!!! :D

Second - CONGRATS on your basketball team!!!! :D

Third - I AM SO happy to hear that you have been able to achive the life of 'moderation'. Basically being able to not eat so stricly 'clean' all the time, being able to enjoy the so called 'unclean' foods, but do so in moderation and with control so that calories are not way over and you don't gain fat!!!! THAT is AWESOME! I have found that type of balance and it's really great. It's fine to have a donut, It's fine to have trail mix, or whatever it may be....as long as you're not eating 20 donuts and 3 bags of trail mix all the time...it can workout just fine! I think it's easy to say this but for one to be able to do it is so hard.

So I just had to give you a big pat on the back for learning that balance. I know how hard it is and not many people can do it! YAY FOR YOU!!!! :D

How is hubs doing? What is he up to these days!?!? Any fun plans in the future???

HI Mary!!!!!!!!

:D

Thanks, it's been a bit of trial and error---one week I'll eat REALLY bad, way over maintenance but not gain a lick of fat so the next week I'll cut back a bit and limit the treats. Who knows what 'normal' is anymore! haha! Thanks--the balance took a long time to get and I'm definitely not all the way there yet but I am looking forward to things like luncheons and a free dinner thursday night :D. Not worrying about clean food, just eating good stuff--chicken, rice, maybe some pie ;). Then moderating it out a bit in the rest of the day. I think this is why I've lost some muscle though...my meal times have been nonexistant and I haven't been feeding my body continually throughout the day. That's okay for right now though. :)

Hmmm...hubs is good! He is SUPER busy these next two weeks---I get to see him tonight for about 2 hours and then on thursday for a couple hours. We've been hitting the beach every sunday though and it's been awesome! I LOVE FLORIDA right now! We're trying to find a time to go to chicago in june and then hopefully I'll get to swing by minneapolis to visit the fam and see a friend that lives in seattle who goes home at that time every year.

Other than that we are just trying to get through the end of the semester...my finals are next week :eek:. My professors are pissing me off too---I can't get a hold of them to save my life and I have a conflict with one of the finals....stoopid professors :mad:.

Okay, that was a novel...sorry!!!

Hi Jeni!!! Nice to hear from you!!

Hey Alecia!!! I know what you mean about DOMS...I have had a break since my comp and I can hardly walk today!!!

I am happy to hear you are finding your own moderation for you....it's all about finding out what works for you!!!

That dinner sound absolutely amazing!!! YUM!!!

Oh sherri, you know exactly how I'm feeling with the DOMS!

I have found some moderation for me, it's just odd because my goals at this point in time aren't the same as girls here...so I'm begining to feel like I don't fit in here anymore :o. But I've made such nice friends here I don't want to go!

So I've had a crappy crappy crappy last night and this morning. It was my one night this week to get a good night's sleep because all the other ones I have bball at 9 and 10PM so i can never get to sleep after that. i don't want to get into it but due to certain circumstances didn't get to sleep until 12 and it was crappy at that.....I'm just fuming right now. And then this morning I wake up late because I turned my alarm off by accident and then I lose the back to my earring so i'm taking forever to find it and then I finally get to work and get crap about being late. These people are late EVERYDAY and they can't give me a break when I'm the one that opens up the office EVERYDAY except today?! So by this time I'm just seething and then I roll over my toe with my big heavy chair and it's KILLING me. I'm just really off to a bad start today.

And I really miss my family :(. I didn't spend thanksgiving, christmas, or easter with them and that's bad :(.

So anyway...bbing stuff...that's what this site is...bb.com, not alecia'spissed.com....

My doms are much better today which is a wonderful sign that the worst may be over and I will be doing legs again tomorrow. I have bball tonight and tomorrow night as well. Eating has been good---2 clean days in a row although last night I could've really gone for some junk, I didn't though.

okay...off to go cry in a corner... :p.

ROFL...I'm cracking up at that bad morning I had a couple weeks ago...oh too funny :).

I'm having a FANTASTIC day today! I just got approved for ALL of my time off from now until I quit this job!!! WOO HOO!! I'm taking a day for a mini-vacation to a nice little island on the west coast of FL in May with another couple...and I'm taking a week and a half off in June to apt hunt in chicago and make a trip to see the fam in minneapolis on the way. I'm so EXCITED! We got GREAT fares to chicago too so I'm pumped about that!

Wow...this move is going to come up so fast...I don't know if I'm ready yet! I have really enjoyed FL this past year, the weather at least, but I think by August I'll be ready to get out, it's way too hot here at that time. It's supposed to be 90 this week so maybe that'll make me ready to go too :p.

Bbing is non-existant at the moment...we have our championship bball game tomorrow night! I was player of the game last week!!! :eek:! Hit both my 3's and had a bunch of little bunny shots too. I got a wheaties t-shirt :D.

I really hope we pull out a win tomorrow--the team we play is good but we have beaten them before (only by 6 pts though). After that I'm onto lifting full bodies. I have eaten HORRIBLY for the last 4 days and I'm over it. I put on a couple lbs of fat for sure but was doing alright before then so I'm okay with it. At least my clothes still fit (although my cellulite makes me puke).

Oh, and I went out BOTH friday and saturday night this weekend--it was so fun! stayed out late, drank beer, ate oreo cake :rolleyes:. it was a blast!

Anyway, just an update! Have a great one ladies!

Yipes, I don't think I'm that balanced...I know when to take time off but my body composition suffers for it! ha! OHHHH!!! Chicago is close to St. Louis! Do you visit there often?!

Okay, I am totally peeved right now. My professor emailed me and said since I didn't turn in my final I had till tomorrow to do it....but the thing is I DID it and turned it in LAST TUESDAY :mad:. These people drive me crazy! So I emailed it to him again with the email that had a time stamp of last tuesday on it and i put 'so f*ck off, i already turned it in' and signed my name.

okay, that was a lie, I didn't put that and sign my name...but I am pretty peeved. jerk....

Hiya Mary! haha, yes, i had fun last weekend! I am pretty damn happy come to think of it! Feels good :). Hubs and I are doing great and I don't have classes for a week and I've been eating great this week. Good times!

Sooo...we lost our championship bball game on Tuesday *grr*. It was bad, we sucked and the other team rocked. Oh well!

First Full Body Workout in 1.5 Months
Squats....highest weight 135 lbs...WOW, LOTS of strength loss here
SLDLs....higheset weight 95lbs...high reps so maybe not as much strength loss
Incline bench...highest weight 45lbs...high reps
bb rows...highest weight 50lbs...high reps
shoulder press...15lbs...*cry* lots of strength loss
calf raises...don't remember weight

Then I went spinning for an hour and thought I was going to keel over right there on the spin floor. It was rough and I'm a bit sore today but I think tomorrow is going to be painful!!! I think I over-did it a bit on my first 'real' night back. oh well, bring on the DOMS!

So I am SORE today. Just the lower posterior chain though---calves, hammies, glutes....OUCH! Comes with the territory I guess :cool:.

Last night was 25 min ellip MIIT. Twas good, although I felt like everyone was watching my flabby thighs jiggle during the sprints :(.

Okay, here's the BIG news of the day..........

Hub's finished his academics for 2 masters degrees and his doctorate degree with a 4.0 GPA :eek:

I am so proud of him! His last class was last night and his class all went out to chili's after---I met them there and had a diet coke--i would've bene in trouble if my table had chips and dip though :eek:. Anyway, so now he's DONE with all of his academics and just has the year long internship to do before I can call him doc ;). I am just beaming for him! He's pretty pumped too!!!

weekend plans are as follows....working tonight, working tomorrow, working sunday! bahahahaha! I crack myself up...but really, those are my plans. I might hit up the beach this weekend with hubs though and I'm PRETTY sure that I'm feeling a bad cold coming on for Monday and I just might not be able to make it in..hehe.

ROFL, yes, he's smart...not TOO much of a nerd though ;). He studies a lot but is pretty naturally smart too--he is in the 'mensa' category of IQ tests...which could mean many things :p but probably just that he's really smart! ha!

Yea, I say boo to weekend working too..but like you said, I SOUND sick, don't I? Monday may be too much!

I was just going to shoot baskets last night but there was some big shindig in our gym so I decided to do some ellip. And the next three days will just be 5+ hours of walking each day for exercise :rolleyes:.

HEY! Where are you! Get your butt back in here and update us!!!!!

Did you take a sick day Monday????

Hey Mar---Yup, I 'chucked a sickie' as them aussies say :D. It was great--got my car cleaned out, did laundry, took TWO naps! Nice lazy day! No explaining to the bosses cause they weren't there!

Things are going well here---got in 2 full body workouts this week as well as two days of cardio :eek:. good times. my gym goes to banker's hours next week so I'll have to work around that!

I had a great plan for nutrition this week and I stuck to it for one day completely *sigh*. Wed I had a lot of trail mix and last night we went to dinner with a big group and it was a 'sharing' type thing so everyone ordered something and it went around the table and everyone else tried whatever was going around. I'm pretty sure I could've not eaten anything if it wasn't like this (i already had dinner) but that yumminess passing right in front of my face?! Nah, I partook. And today I had a brownie. My work study made them for us for her last day. Yipes! I'm also drinking tonight---today was the last day of finals here and I'm partying with my intramural bball team :D. I'm excited!

Other than that, I am doing alright---got a CT scan of my chest yesterday and now the injection site of the dye is all funky---yuck. I'm also going for a pulmonary function test on tuesday to figure out my shortness of breath STILL. the doc told me I 'looked' like a person that would have panic attacks :cool:....are you kidding? I LOOK like it?! Must be my grey hair at 26 :mad:.

Anyway, I'm bout outta smilies so I better run---just one night of work this weekend! Woo Hoo!

Thanks for the bumps mary and kim :smilie:.

ROFL! I had a good time spamming your journal :D. Friday night was fun! We stayed out really late and I was exhausted but didn't have anything to do saturday or sunday so I was able to recover. I had a monster hangover though (after only 3 beers :eek:)! I know, wth? I'm a lightweight.

Congrat's to smart hubby!Hello there! Thanks for stopping by!!

So weekend was so fun...friday night details are above...

saturday hubs and i went to play GOLF! I did okay---he won't take me on the course until I can consistently hit a few good balls and saturday was the first time he said I could play with him if I hit like that more! YES! I am pumped! I did awesome---hit one about 150 yds on an 8 iron! *happy dance*

Then we went out to dinner as hubs graduated with his second masters on saturday (but didn't go to the ceremony). It was SO good...yum. Then we rented Blood Diamond. What an amazing movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The BEST movie I've seen in a long time! So good. I thought leo's accent might be bad but it was really good---he did a great job! So go see this movie!

Sunday I did some cleaning, laundry, cooking, etc. Hubs and I went to barnes and noble and I read eating for life. Great recipies in there!

So it was a great weekend---no work but friday night (and I made a lot of $$ in about 3 hours and got to go home so that rocked).

Sunday I read my homework assignments for the summer and almost was physically ill. I am SO OVER SCHOOL! It's not even something I want to learn anymore---its just a huge annoyance. Grrr. But I made A's last semester so my GPA is steadily climbing from my MBA days. It'll be really good if I can make A's this semester too.

workouts
None this weekend! Today will be full body + spin. Good times.

Okay, that was a LONG post! Have a good day everyone :D!

I am SO jealous.. I want to play golf so bad but I SUCK at hitting the ball. Hubs plays, and our couple friend that we hang out with ALL the time BOTH play like EVERY WEEKEND. But my girlfriend is SO good and so I just know I can't go on a course with them. I'd be an embarassement!!! THAT is the most frustrating sport on the planet. last time I went to the driving range I almost chucked my club at innocent golfers b/c cursing at the ball just wasn't getting out my anger enough...:D

hehe :D

Well, last night was full body but no spin---girl cancelled on me and I don't have a membership so I couldn't go.

Here's the wo:
Front squats
SLDL's --almost passed out here so I stopped at 2 sets...
rows
incline bench
shoulder press
calf raises
leg extensions---holy weak! I haven't done these for about 8 yrs due to knee issues so I thought I'd just *try* I could only get up 30lbs on the machine with BOTH legs! Might have to be one I incorporate a bit more.

Incline walking -- 31 minutes
1 mile jog -- 9 minutes
Stretching

Felt great! I had a lot of energy although that could be due to the 400 mg of caffeine I took prior :o. I haven't had energy during a wo in a LONG time--months now. So hopefully this will last.

Tonight is cardio.

That's about it---oh, and I hate my bosses again....stirring up crap between us co-workers here low on the totem pole. SO childish. I counted the number of days I have to work and it was at about 68 a week or two ago----NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT---59 DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!

LOL you can golf, huh? I played Putt-Putt this weekend & I wasn't too good! I just hit the ball too hard. Can't get the feel for it! Oh well. I have no athletic ability really, no hand-eye coordination! I'll just stick to lifting weights I guess, since it's the only sport I've been capable of doing!

And hungover off 3 beers? uh oh!

Did you get it?!
NO! The reason? My husbands an idiot. I made fun of him for this so much last night - we both were excited to rent it. The other day we had talked about renting Blood Diamond or Babel. Yesterday I said let's get Blood Diamond. So he goes to rent it on Cox on Demand and gets Babel w/o even thinking. So I kept asking him to spell out Blood Diamond - I said "no honey it's not B-A it's B-L..come on, you can do it" He got quite annoyed...:p

Babel was pretty good!!! I liked it! Hubs thought it was too slow and a bit odd. Brad Pitt looked old in it... but he's still hot! :D

haha! That's funny...I wouldn't let my hubs live something like that down either...he'd be hearing about it for a while! That's nice that babel was good---I don't think I could do subtitles?

I have a funny hubs story....last night I turned my lotion upside down to put some on after my shower and he said 'careful' and then grabbed the bottle and squeezed super hard! lotion was EVERYWHERE and he couldn't stop laughing...I admit, it was pretty damn funny. I had to act pissed off a lil bit though as it was slightly annoying ;). But I couldn't keep that up for long! I tried to get him to help me put it back in the bottle but he was too scared to come anywhere near me with all of that lotion! he apologized later :D.

Anyway, I think I've upped my maintenance cals to 3000 at least. I used to maintain on 2500 and I think it's gone up considerably. I've been eating A LOT lately and it's not affecting me too much...and yesterday I had a 1500 cal day and my pants are about to fall off today. Weird. I'm liking it though :D. My friend just emailed me about what food we're getting for our vacation over memorial day and we both decided cheese triscuits for sure---those things are straight from heaven. Other than that, the only thing we have nailed down is the alcohol!!!! LOL!

Okay----week in review :D

I think I left off on Tuesday for workouts, etc....

wednesday was cardio---20 min shooting baskets, 1 8 min mile. *wipes sweat* a lot harder than it used to be!

thursday was full body! it was good, although I get tired after about 2 sets. I'm in high rep mode right now (12-15) so I'm lifting piddly weights but whatever.

food
wednesday was good---went to a BBQ to say goodbye to a bunch of hubs' friends that were leaving for their internships...kinda weird to say bye to a bunch of people you'll never see again? hmm Anyway, I had a burger and a half and it was heaven! I hadn't had a burger in FOREVER! YUM.

Last night was good food, didn't eat a whole lot as we didn't really have any food TO eat in the house. Made some sf cocoa and called it a night! went to bed nice and early and it was amazing how much easier it was to wake up this morning :rolleyes:.

other 'life' stuff
had my first assignments this week for classes and almost forgot to do them! ha! I'm so over it already...I think i'm aiming for B's this semester!

hubs and I are wonderful---it's been really nice to spend more time together now that he is done with school. He's been to the gym FOUR times this week! I am SO excited! Last night I didn't know he was going to be there and I pulled up and saw his car and just got so excited! I love seeing him there :)./mushiness

HAPPY WEEKENDING ALECIA!!
Hope you make some huge $$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!

I'm trying barb! I did pretty well last night---we were SO SO SO busy! Over an hour wait most of the night. I was just running around like crazy--never got into a flow where I got a break so I was just stressed all night :p. Made almost as much as people there for 3 more hours than I was so that's good! Still, didn't get out till 11 so I'm a bit exhausted today. I'm actually extremely exhausted...my hip flexors are KILLING me and I just feel like a big deadweight.

I'll be back to work in 3.5 hours though :rolleyes: for the craziest day ever...*sigh*

I'm at my lowest weight in 3 years...172. It's because I didn't really eat yesterday...had some crackers and then went to work and usually I'll eat something after but I was just so pooped I wanted to go home. And then I was so tired I just wanted to go to bed! ha! I woke up at 4AM just starving!!! Too tired to do anything about it though ;). I'm sure the weight will stabilize this week after I eat regularly (which won't be today). I also won't be cooking for the week due to working so much this weekend so I'm relying on some frozen lunches as well as salads for meals. We'll see how that goes :cool:.

Be-Be!!!! Glad to still see YOU here! Stop by more often---will you be starting a journal anywhere? Or did I miss it?

I don't have one but I was thinking of starting one. I'm ashamed to admit it, but in the last year, for a variety of excuses, my body fat has crept up to an entirely undesireable level. The funny thing is, it seems to help me in my new career (I'm a personal trainer now in case you missed that in SeanDon's journal). Women feel they can identify with me since I deal with the same weight issues as them and guys feel that with some meat on my bones that I can better spot them. Go figure. Anyway, I thought I might start a journal to give myself some accountability to lose about 10-12% body fat. Maybe something will pop up in the next couple days.

Hey Be-be, that would be exciting to start a journal here...hint hint :).

I remember you saying you were certified as a PT but I didn't know you had really changed your career! great news! congrats :D!

I could definitely see how you would be able to relate to people well because of the struggles we all seem to face. Don't be ashamed about the body fat deal, we all go through highs and lows. Hope to see you around :o.

~~~~~~~~~~~
in other news I look like absolute hell today...my eyes are so swollen! weird. Anyway, I'm crabby and exhausted and I already snapped at my coworker first thing this morning :p. Oh well! Last night was late---got home about 10er after running around like crazy all night. And I spilled 5 glasses of water and sprite all over me about 7 so I was soaking wet the rest of the night. I almost cried over it because I was just so over it! I spilled it on a table too--no one got wet (it was all on me anyway) but I know the guy and I work with him at my other job so I'm just waiting for him to crack some dumbass joke about it today. Grrr.
Tips were alright---got a $46 one which really made my night! And people weren't too demanding, they had to know it was going to be slow going because they had just waited an hour to be sat!
Anyway, I'm about to walk right outta here today if anyone gives me hell...I'm just done. :(
I'm an ACE certified personal trainer now and I've been doing it for a living for about a year. I love it! The money and hours vary a great deal from week to week but it's really great to spend the day helping people achieve their goals. In fact, that's one of the reasons that I haven't been attending to my own needs. :(
Hope your day is going better. Couldn't get much worse!
You might try washing your eyes out with baby shampoo.
Woot woot! Be-be started a journal! yes! baby shampoo, eh? gets rid of the swollen look?
that's so great you love your job---that's my dream, to love my job some day :D.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

well, funny thing is that yesterday DID get worse! ha! I'm completely fine now but I had a bit of a medical emergency and had to have hubs come from his job and take me to the doctor (not going to get into what happened though). So I was gone the rest of the afternoon at the doc and then just headed home with an hour of work left...I couldn't go back to work, I was exhausted.

Today is MUCH better, feeling fine and got lots of work done already.

No workout yesterday obviously. Today I will be doing a light full body with some cardio if I feel like it.

Food is going well....I ate like CRAP on Sunday---pizza, cookies, ice cream at work :eek:. It was SOOOO good :p. and I'm at 172 still today. Gotta love this metabolism I've been having lately!

Hubs is doing so great at the gym too! He's lost 10lbs already and looking sexier than ever! I'm so proud of him and happy that he's taking good care of himself :o.

Okay, well, that's me, here's hoping to a mundane day full of work and nothing else :p!

Yea, walked around a lot this weekend! Too bad at my full time job I just sit here like a blob, dreaming of bagels and cream cheese :p. I kinda give myself little treats at the restaurant---or at least I'm not as strict because I think I burn at least 1000 cals per shift?????---5-7 hours of walking around, does that sound about right?

hey guys, question for ya!

i have been having MAJOR feet cramps (toes/bottom of feet) for the past 2-3 weeks (since I started lifting again). I have been drinking plenty of water (1 gallon), have been stretching, added bananas as i thought maybe it was a K deficiency....none have worked. Sometimes it's so bad I have to stop my workouts or it can affect me hours later.

anyone have any ideas how i can get rid of this?!

Other than stretching them, I've never found much that helps. They'll go away as the stabalizing muscles in your feet get stronger.

Hi all :o

Sorry I've been a loser poster lately. Hmmm...let's see...I'm doing alright although today I'm feeling a bit depressed and so far I'm chalking it up to PMS.

I've been trying to stay positive about my jobs and school but it's getting SO close to the end now that I'm having a hard time doing that. I literally have angry feelings daily and i don't like it. I'm working on it. Not to mention one of my professor's a real dick so it's not making my life any easier.

I just am hoping all of these bad feelings are the result of PMS....maybe...hopefully :).

So I went to sanibel Island last weekend for vacation--fun times :D. Lots of alcohol, burgers, ribs, corn, cookies, candy, swimming, bike riding, etc. It was fun. pics are below.

i've got a free week pass at anytime fitness here because my gym's being redone so i went there last night. They have a 'v-squat' hammer strength machine which was similar to hack squat but angled out a bit? it was fun...i walked by it about 4 times trying to be sly and figure it out without looking like a tool but then just said f-it and went and stood on the damn thing. it worked! ;)

tonight i am doing cardio and then about 4 hours of homework.....grrrr. i really feel the need to clean my apt too. It's getting down to the wire here with leaving in a couple months and we have to throw away SO MUCH STUFF. I better get started!

Anyway, i'm prolly not going to be around much, just trying to get back in the groove of things and the next two months are going to be crazy. I'll be in chicago in 3 weeks to look for an apt and then home to mpls for a week and then back here for july and then leaving again the first weekend in august for a wedding and then back here and then moving mid-august.

I'll be working out and after last weekend i've found my love of clean food again :p. nice to see you all and hopefully i can visit journals this week :o.

Hi Mary! Hubs is doing great, thanks for asking! He's working a lot lately :(...at the moment he's at work and won't be home for another couple of hours. It's okay, we've been emailing a lot!

THanks Beebs, I do think I was PMSing quite hardcore at the time!

Golfy you are hilarious. :D

So I'm chillin here by myself..hubs is a working man lately. Had a full body workout tonight with 10 min cardio. Felt AWESOME! Yesterday was 30 min cardio....that was good too. I don't think it's counteracting the insane amounts of pb and j sammiches i've been eating lately though :rolleyes:.

So...I have a question! Non-bb related of course :p. I had a sandspur get stuck in my arm forcefully by a volleyball in sanibel. Ouch. I didn't realize it until I was in the ocean too...so there's a lovely batch of bacteria for it. Anyhoo...I pulled it out but the ends are still in my arm because they are barbed. So I tried mini-surgery with a safety pin :cool: and it didn't work. I have two barbs stuck slightly and one stuck deeply that I can't see but I broke it off accidentaly while in "surgery." Now my arm is swollen about 2 inches around the site and it's red and hot :(. I put neosporin on it...should I be doing anything else? Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Go to the doctor for removal - it sounds like its infected and the longer you let it go, the worse it will get. Worse case scenario, it could turn into gangrene and you could lose the arm.

I know, you know that, too. You was hoping not to go that route, weren't you?

Sandspur story...

okay, so i went to our student health office. I showed the PA my arm and she FLINCHED! Can you believe it! She said, oh, we need to start some antibiotics right away :D. She said it was definitely infected and she thinks a skin bacteria because of the puncture wounds....great...beebs was right, here comes gangrene ;). 3 numbing shots later, I'm ready! Anyway, she scraped two of the surface spurs off and then started scraping skin away from the deep one. Then she made an incision because she couldn't get it. Then she tried to use little tweezer things to dig around. To no avail. The damn thing is still in there just breeding it's infectiousness. So now the game plan she gave me is to irrigate the incision every few hours and try to flush out the spur. She told me it was very important that a scab NOT form so I have to flush it pretty regularly. And now she bandaged me up so much it looks like I tried to kill myself :eek:!

So I'm a pretty paranoid person (can you tell? :p) so I try not to overreact and go to the doc and generally i feel very bad about going because I feel like my hubs thinks I don't need to go. I called him and explained the situation and that I waited for a day and it got much worse so i went...and it was free because i'm a student so no worries. It's not like he's not supportive I just feel like I have to justify going to the doc (and yes, this is in my head because we all know what a darling my hubs is). Well, ya know what? Screw that. It's my body right? And I like to live healthfully. And if something is wrong with me, no matter how minor, I'm getting it fixed. So hear me roar I guess! LOL!

No :mad: the one still isn't out. I now have to flush my arm every few hours to make sure the wound stays OPEN so the damn spur can get out. The issue is that it is barbed so it's not like a sliver where I can just pick it out...there has to be enough room for the whole thing to get outta there. Yuck...i'm making myself feel ill.

I DID feel myself getting the spots in front of my eyes at one point while watching her dig and thought the tunnell vision was next and then bam I'd be on the floor but I just looked away and thought of rainbows and puppies :p.

Hey Beebs and Mary.

I'm off to a great start with food + cals + workouts this week. I *think* my bloat is gone (finally) and now onto losing this yucky fat! Fortunately I don't have too much to lose to feel comfortable again!

So I went to the doc monday and she offered to dig it out but she didn't know where it was exactly :eek:. So this would mean opening a pretty big incision in my arm and then tweezing around for a while until she found it...um, make me gag. So she said since the infection is probably taken care of now, that it would be okay for the thorn to stay in there for a while to try to work itself out. So whatever, it still hurts but I'm not worrying about it anymore and I'll go back in a month if it's still bothering me.

Did full body + cardio Monday. Cardio yesterday. Cardio today (maybe). I've been walking too at lunch so that's good. Other than that diet is my key....and hopefully I haven't cut cals TOO low. my metabolism is pretty high at the moment though so I think I can afford to cut em a bit more and not fear too much slowdown.

That's it in my exciting life! Homework has been CRAZY this summer. I've spent WAY TOO many hours on it already and I'm only pulling B's so far. Whatever, I'm over it :).

Hi!!! Glad to see that the bloat is gone and you're back at it!Hey Tara! Thanks for stopping in!

Just walked yesterday. Felt really tired all day so I figured I'd give myself a bit of a break. Today will be full body + walking.

Got my homework done last night for the week...did laundry...and responded to my two best friends (they don't know each other) by email because they are both horribly depressed at the moment! It's so weird that they are both like that right now. One's doing better today but the other is trying to figure out how to leave her husband with her two little ones...she was looking up shelters online :(. Poor thing.

So my life is pretty damn good I have to say. Sometimes all it takes is a little perspective.

Oh and I wore my skinny jeans last night all around the house to let myself know how much further I needed to go and that a chocolate cupcake is just NOT worth it right now! LOL! The jeans look killer when I'm standing up....just when I sit down I develop a dunlap :o.

LOL! That sounds JUST like a professor at my school! Strategic Managment (I think the same class as yours) was our capstone class and the toughest one...so good job to you for your B in it! Brought that GPA down to a 3.95 did it? ;) You are so right though...I don't think anyone's going to care and I have a good GPA already and it'll still be good if I do get 2 B's so I'm not worried!
Yep, that was the capstone class. I wonder if the same guy teaches all of them. And you know what, nobody has asked in the 8 years since I finished what my GPA was. Though some ask what a MBA is. I thought that was general knowledge.

Actually, I didn't officially graduate for a year after I finished because the department that issues the diplomas lost my paperwork 3 times. The first two times, they tried to blame me but by the third time they realized there might be a problem. Which was bad because I very much wanted it by the year 2000 and ended up getting it in 2000. Guess that doesn't matter much anymore either since no one ever asks me when I got it. Where sometimes, but never when.

Charity...ms. 18% ;).

Beebs...I've come across the same, eg:

Them: Oh, you just finished school, what did you get?
Me: A MBA!
Them: Um, okay, in what?
Me: Errr...in business? A Master's of Business Administration?
Them: :confused: Oh.

I definitely thought it was common knowledge as well. Guess not! That really sucks about your graduation delays! Paperwork is SUCH a biatch---here's the same way.

So, where did you get your MBA with the 3.95 GPA in 2000? :D

Hey Tricia! I've been lurking in your journal from day 1 now :rolleyes:. Your progress has been AH-MAZING. We are almost the same height so I've been following closely ;). And no, I don't wear skinny jeans like the actual skinny jeans....the ones I'm talking about are "my" skinny jeans that only fit when I'm smaller! ha! I feel special! A NICE dancing man in my journal!

So the weekend was good but I had very erratic eating. Friday I had a total of about 3000-3200 cals...saturday I hit about 700 cals...sunday I managed about 2500 cals. Saturday was so low because I woke up at 1PM! NICE! I am a good sleeper! then I had to clean and go to work so I didn't get much to eat...then after work, a beer sounded better than whey and yogurt so that won :).

Anyway, here I am today feeling fat. :rolleyes:

NO work friday as mary pointed out again! it was fabulous...hubs and I got grocery shopping done early and then went to see knocked up---the first hour was hilarious...the second hour could've been cut to about 20 minutes :p.

Saturday plans were above.

Sunday I got up early and just vegged for a while. Hubs took me to the driving range and I was hitting well AGAIN! AND...que music....I am now good enough to play 9 holes with him!!!

I am SO pumped! He's Mr. Golf so I am very excited that I am now good enough to play a bit (of course we are going to a Par 3 course but whatever)!
That is next saturday morning!

Last night we went to chili's and I had the fajitas which were absolutely amazing...I estimated those at about 1500 cals. I ate about 3/4ths of it. And my tummy made me pay for it last night and so far this morning as well. Yuck...not feeling the greatest.

Hubs and I also got our apartment search narrowed and I am calling all the places today to set up appointments. I am so nervous--we leave in a week and a half!

So....I just got extremely anxious and almost in full blown panic mode here...

I don't think I'll be able to nail a great job in Chicago.

I have the skills, I have some experience, I have the personality (if I do say so myself), and I have desire to work hard and learn new things. I just think my resume is a big fat POS. I think I've applied to about 10 jobs from FL so far and have received nothing on them. I completely understand the issue of my resume stating I live in FL but I let them know that I will be moving shortly in my cover letter.

I'm just really frustrated already and am having serious doubts about getting a good job there that I enjoy. I'm thinking about hiring someone to write a resume and cover letter for me....anyone have thoughts on that?

I just want to come out of school with two Masters degrees and be able to land a halfway decent job ($45-$50,000) in the marketing or HR field. I think I'm just setting myself up for disappointment.

This gets a big fat YES from me. Your resume is SO important! It is your first impression and can definitely make or break getting your foot in the door.

Also, you might check out this book.

http://www.amazon.com/College-Grad-Job-Hunter-Techniques/dp/1558508414

I used it when I graduated. I thought it was great and got several job offers. I even talked the company that I eventually went with into letting me work part-time with full-time benefits :D

Good luck! Try not to stress too much. Remember that you are just sitting around waiting for them to get back to you. HOWEVER they actually have a full time job to take care of during the day and looking over resumes may not always be on the front burner for them. Hang in there :)

Um, you've only applied for 10 jobs? Sorry, but that's barely a warm-up. Start applying for everything and anything vaguely appropriate. If nothing else, it's good practice -just like interviewing for jobs you don't particularly like are good practice. And, by talking to all these people about potential jobs, you are networking. Most of my professional jobs have been from networking. Networking is just talking to people and seeing if anything turns up.

NO, don't have someone write your resume and cover letter because it should be different for every job that you apply for. I am very serious about that - customize both items specifically for the company and job. And that doesn't mean just putting their name in it. Make it real and personal for whoever is reading it. It takes a little more effort but you're looking for a big payoff. On paper, I have been a perfect match for every job that I've applied for in the last 10 years because the resume matches the job description.

There are a lot of good resume writing books on this and I'm happy to help you. The important thing to remember is that there should not be a single word in either document that does not directly relate to the specific job that you are applying for.

Oh beebs....I know it's a warm up---but not even one bite?! See this is where I am confused. I've read that I need to narrow down the search considerably and really focus on what I want and apply only to those jobs (then I use one resume generally). Good call on the networking though--I agree.

Yes, I will customize a bit for each job but generally the resume's for HR generalists, marketing professionals, etc in each category will be similar. I definitely use their keywords in both my resume and cover letters and specify the requirements they are looking for in both as well.

There are a lot of good resume writing books on this and I'm happy to help you. The important thing to remember is that there should not be a single word in either document that does not directly relate to the specific job that you are applying for.
Thanks, that was nicely put. Simple and to the point.

I had a mini-breakdown with my mom on the phone a bit ago. I'm realizing I may be just a pinch more stressed out than I think I am. School has been crazy demanding this semester and with going out of town I have double the workload for a bit....that together with my jobs and it being father's day on sunday (where if I don't work I get fired :eek: ), I think I'm just on the edge a bit. It's definitely self-induced stress and anxiety. Hubs has been amazing and I have to stop telling myself that he'll think I'm a wimp if I don't want to find a job right away or if I need a break for a bit. He's Mr. Ambitious---the absolute most ambitious person I've ever known so I feel as though I have to keep up. Career/job was never important to me...i get joy from relationships and balance in my life. So now I'm putting a lot of pressure on myself to get a job right away so he can think I'm really that great, etc, etc...........and the sad part for me (sad because I do this to myself) is that he already thinks I'm great, job or not. :o

Weren't you one of the people who said I was too hard on myself? Just wondering... ;)

Building up all this anxiety for a future that may or may not happen won't help you land a job and certainly could cause you to miss an opportunity. 10 resumes and no nibble - no big deal. Sometimes these places can takes months to get around to acting on resumes. Especially if a key person quits or there's a reorganization or a new project or whatever. Deep breath - it may not be about you at all.

You have a supportive hubby? Take advantage of that to give yourself time to find the right job. Relax, do all the right stuff to look for opportunities, and trust that it will happen.

You're envious that I found my passion, right? I quit my "real" job as an economic developer in February 2006. I got my first personal training certification (it was a cheapie) because I really liked helping people like those on this forum. 3 1/2 months later, I found a job. The perfect job but it was only part-time. By January 2007 I decided that while I still loved the job, I didn't want to train full-time so I decided to get my ACE certification so I could get my Lifestyle and Weight Maintenence Counseling Certificate. Then I decided to start my own consulting business. So, right now, after a year and a half of figuring it out, I'm still working towards starting my business - which may not be fully operational for another 6 months. That's almost 2 years exactly to "find" my career. How long has it been since you sent out your first of the 10 resumes?

I'm not trying to make fun of you. I'm just pointing out that these things happen when they happen. Kind of like losing weight and getting in shape - we have both tried to force that issue too. Maybe the perfect job for you isn't even available yet. So just relax and wait for it to happen. Keep believing. A couple years from now, when you have a great job, a few extra months of searching for it will seem insignificant.

Oh Alecia... such a bummer that you are struggling with the job stresses. I'm sure it's super hard right now.. but keep working on the resume and keep applying. Call back.. don't give up on the ones you really want. Honestly, probably it would be best when you take a trip up there, that you personally visit and hand deliver your resume and ask to speak with the HR people for a moment..just to introduce yourself and explain your situation.. Although you probably already thought of that.. :o

However, with that being said.. when I read your first post, i thought "what's the big stress? why doesn't she just search when she gets there and can say "i live in chicago". But then againn, I don't know your financial situation and if you can afford that 'short break' from work while looking.

But I'm glad you are coming to the realization that you don't need to stress. I know you, you're SO much like me, and WAY to hard on yourself. It's so cute that you said hubs loves you no matter what.. Absolutely Alecia. Go home tonight, tell him to give you a big hug and remind you one more time that everythings gonna be fine and he loves you - job or no job.. ;) That should make you feel better!

I mean, how sweet would it be if you could just move to Chicago - spend some time unpacking, getting your new place in order, etc. And having some 'you' time.. no job! :eek: I'M JEALOUS just TALKING about IT!!!!!

PS - It's super 'gay' that you have to work on Fathers Day or you get fired..:cool:

Okay!

Last night I ALMOST talked myself out of cardio but I went and started shooting baskets....2 hours later I was soaked and done playing about 5 games. FUN TIMES! It was awesome that there were people there to play with! We won ALL games too. And I was sent to guard their best player :D.

I felt very sick at one point and I got my abs and calves cramping again. I got home and forced down some yogurt and a peach but that's it. I think I hit about 1100 cals yesterday *don't hit me!*

Um, but my pants are nice and loose today! Hehe. I'll get more in today---I'm looking at a HUGE salad for lunch so that will be terrific.

Today is an off day for me---will walk at lunch probably but I need to get some homework done so that will be my night.

You are completely right---you can only make so many follow up calls and then it is a waiting game. I think that's the part that makes me most anxious. Hubs is working in indiana but his commute's a breeze (as we've been told) because he's leaving when everyone is coming to the city and vice versa on the way home. It will be an eye opener next week though when we visit!

You know what I like about you? Even when you go off the deep end, you bounce right back to a more balanced place. I'm glad you're feeling better and looking at the positives of not having a new job on the hook yet. Which means that once you're totally excited about a little time off to adjust to your new home town, you'll immediately get a job and have to change gears again. (We hope.)

P.S. Between you and me, I think we're averaging the perfect number of calories. http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/silly/sly.gif (http://www.thesmilies.com)

Arose, I understand your frustrations w the job search. It took me 4 mths to find my current job and my resume was great. I say this not to sound cocky but to tell you that stuff slips through the cracks all the time. I had to wait till a career fair and hand my resume to folks and they were like lets talk. Mind you these are the exact ppl I emailed my resume to or sent through a website like monster. The point of me telling you is to keep trying, God has a plan for us so no point stressing about (I know easier said than done), work on your resume and KEEP TRYING!!!! Also look up when local schools are having career fairs and just show up. I did. Lol. Perseverance pays off.

It took me about 4 months to find the job i have now being right out of undergrad. Career fairs are invaluable and there are so many colleges around and in chicago (hopefully right down the street from where we'll be living!) that I think those would be so good to check out. Perseverance.....that is a great quality that I wish I had more of! I'll get some though!! ;)

hmmm....my coworker just got a call from my boss---her daughter had to go to the hospital for high blood pressure, she just had a kid last week. Oh, and she's about 400 lbs and 5'9". :rolleyes: Seriously!? Wha? C'mon. I have so little sympathy for things like that.........*sigh*

Anyway, I'm so super busy this week that I probably won't be on much unless i get all my work done...i leave thursday for chicago and i'll be back July 2. LOTS to do before I leave! I'm so excited though...so excited! We are looking at some NICE places to live! And we SO deserve a nice place after the crappiness we've lived in for the past 4 years. Do you know that in our apartment now we cannot stand next to each other anywhere except for the kitchen...and even then it is tight?! I need some SPACE!

BBing is non-existant since thursday. Oh well. I had to work all weekend and father's day was absolutely the worst day for tips/grumpy dads.

I was told that people that can't usually go out to eat go out on these type holidays and it showed.
PLEASE TIP YOUR SERVER AT LEAST 15% (18% is more appropriate). And don't be rude--these people are handling the food you are about to put in your MOUTH!

We're renting---not enough $$ to buy and we're still not settled on a place where we'll have jobs, etc. We have at least 4-5 more years before we have enough $$ to put a good downpayment on a nice house without PMI.

We're staying at a hotel in indiana actually---cheapsies AND free breakfast :p.

Yes, I'm hoping we end up in a nice neighborhood this time....last night I heard the chirp of a siren, followed by a 'backfire' or 'shot' about 10 min later and then yelling that sounded like it was right outside my apt. Too afraid to look! I am getting way excited to go but work will ALWAYS make me crazy!

Hey Tricia! Yes, I'm sure you know being in michigan! I grew up in minnesota so i hope I'm ready for it. My nice winter jackets have been sitting in 90 degree heat for the last 4 years :rolleyes:.

So funny story today...my boss sent me and my other boss this email about 2 weeks ago about a recruiting fair that she wanted us to attend (not both, just someone to represent our school) and one fair is today, the other tomorrow. I emailed her back and said I couldn't do the one tomorrow and she said 'yea, i know, we'll get it covered'. Okay. Cool. So i've heard nothing about today's and I'm going to flip my lid if they need me to go---too much stuff to do! I can just hear it now----"YOU are going, I SENT you the email". And I'll say "sure, i'll head out right now in my flip flops" :D.

Hmmm...haven't counted down my days in a while....29 days MAX. YIPPEE!

BEEBS! How are you---I must look at your site sometime this week to see what all is new.

Trip News

Found a place! It was the ONLY place we found that we liked and could afford and it wasn't even advertised---found it through a friend of a friend! It is just a one bedroom yet but it is larger than our current apt. It has hardwood floors throughout, big big windows in every room, a big kitchen (:eek: ), and some much needed storage space. The heat is paid for but we don't have AC so we'll have to get a window unit. We do have ceiling fans though so that might help. It wasn't our absolute favorite but it was the only one we felt comfortable with on price (and it's still mucho dinero). We talked him down a bit so that was good but still a pretty penny. We are located in the BEST area though so I don't mind too much :). We are in Hyde Park if any of you are familiar with Chicago. A few blocks from the beach and right next to a train stop that goes straight downtown. Fun times :). We are also a few blocks away from a farmer's market so that will be nice to get some food there.

After that I went home to minneapolis for a week and found a love and addiction to searching for garage sales. I bought SO MUCH stuff and for about $1 each! NICE. Got two NICE wool jackets for winter for a total of $17. Crazy. An Ann Klein skirt for $1.50. This stuff is just crazy. Got some new house decorations as well as some new dishes.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous---even when raining! Not too hot most days (unlike FL now).

It was great to see my family and I miss them so much. I told them I'd visit every month now (about 6 hours from me when we move).

I think my last day on the job will be Aug 2. Earlier than I thought but I talked to HR and they said as long as I didn't say anything, no one would charge me for the remaining tuition I'd owe when I separated from the school! NICE! Hubs wants to go earlier and that's fine with me. More time to just chill, enjoy ourselves, see family, and spend time with each other before his job starts. (and then I'll be doing fun things by myself for a while until I get motivated to find work!)

I ate an incredible amount of food and surprisingly all of my clothes still fit. *wipes brow* A bit of fat gain but it'll be gone by next week I think. back on track now already....and with a bit of a more relaxed approach to clean vs. nonclean.

I got in about 2 AM monday morning to turn around and be up at 6:30 for work so that kinda sucked. But tomorrow I have off and right now I'm supposed to be doing an assignment! I'm off to the gym after that for my first gym workout in a couple weeks. I was VERY active at home so I feel good about being back and active here. The lakes in Minneapolis are just to die for and are all roughly 3-4 miles around so I walked/ran one of those everyday. Beautiful.

Okay, I'm off....hubs and I are GOLFING tomorrow so I might not be able to post pics for a bit but I will I PROMISE!

hey mar! I don't know about 'modern'! All the buildings are so old there they call them "vintage" which is just code for REALLY old. We have to watch our electric output because the wiring can't handle it! The building was built I think almost 100 years ago and it's solid as a rock. They have never replaced the bathroom tile which is kind of cool and gross at the same time :p. We're going to put carpet over it! ha! Its cracked in a few places and they won't redo it because I guess it's stuck in there by 4 inches of cement or something.

We looked at a few 'refurbished' or 'gut rehabbed' places which were extremely nice but much much pricier. We're happy :).

Lovely place. I like the older apartments with their high ceilings even though they are a pain to heat. What floor are you on? If you are higher up, it may get so warm in the winter that you have to open your window. Love the floors and the claw foot tub. I miss having one of those.

Are you going to rent a truck to move your stuff or hire a company?

Hey Beebs. We're on the 3rd floor of 4 total floors. They pay heat and keep it in the low 70s and our neighbor said he has to open the windows! That's so funny you say that! Never had a claw foot before---looks a bit scary to get in and out of :p.

LOVED Chicago---was afraid at first but the place we are living is just a beautiful community and close to so much stuff! biking/running trails, the science museum, golf course, downtown...can't wait!

THOSE were the pics! I was in one of them at least! ha!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi All. doing good. Yesterday was running + shooting baskets. Nothing strenuous, I was tired so I just called it. Tonight should be some upper body something :o.
Work's going well and I'm going out to lunch with a girlfriend today and I'm getting steak :D. I've been doing super well with clean food and controlling myself. Trying not to think about it a lot, just do it...which is weird but seems to be helping. Went to a big bbq monday night and had a bit of chicken, zuchhini, 2 potato wedges, a couple bites of pasta salad, and a teensy bite of hubs' desert. Felt REALLY good about that! When there is so much food/beer around I tend to go off the deep end but not this time! I felt satisfied with what I had. So i guess the game plan is to not think :cool:.
I also need you all to go to alabama and show your muscles to my professor...he's a dick.
Hey Beebs! Steak was awesome! LOVED it and it was paid for so for some reason that made it taste so much better ;). The girl i went with is a pharmaceutical rep and has no issues paying for everything with the company card...
So workout last night was a full body + 30-45 min bball. Fun but I'm a bit sore today. Been eating really well. Staying around 2000 cals or below for the past 2 weeks now. And I've lost some inches/weight/bf already. YAY! I needed to!
I've been writing a manual to my job for the next person here and it's a terrible task! No one asked me to but I figured it would be helpful...holy crap I didn't realize all of the stuff I did :p.
I've been writing a manual to my job for the next person here and it's a terrible task! No one asked me to but I figured it would be helpful...holy crap I didn't realize all of the stuff I did :p.
We are living the same life!!!
Are you worried about finding a job? Thats my only concern, it really shouldn't be an issue but just that uncertainty...grr.
Congrats on the results also :D :D
Hey! I've done a 'write up' before i left my last job too.. it really makes you realize how much you do.. That is really nice of you!
YAY for calories and food being in check and losing some inches!! Nice job!!!!
Any fun plans this weekend?
Hey Mar!
Nothing too out of the ordinary this weekend...hung out with pals we will miss like crazy when we leave, went to the beach, worked, etc. Same ole same ole!
Hooray for losing weight, BF, inches!!! http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q108/marj69/Smileys/cheerleader.gif
Ha, very similar situations! I am worried about finding a job...I guess not so much about finding one, but finding one that will pay me well and that I can put up with. I'm not out to find my dream job right now (cause I don't know what that is) but I'd like a job that I can do well and that pays me better than what I'm getting now (um, MUCH better :p). The uncertainty is bad I agree. Justin has a job already right? So does my hubs...I'll be living off him for a while. I supported him for a few years while he was in school so I figure he can support me to do nothing for a couple months and find a job that I want which might take a bit longer.
Finding a new job is so daunting...the resumes, the cover letters, the contacts, the follow ups, the interviews, the rejection. I think I need a spreadsheet or something! :D
SO weekend was good but food was a bit much. Not bad food, just about 2500 cals each day fri-sun. I feel a bit fat/bloated today. Bummer. This week will be good though. Hubs leaves me tomorrow for chi-town for a couple days and then thursday I have a pedicure and hair cut scheduled :D....and I feel a sick day coming on! So that will be nice and relaxing. Then my restuarant friends want to take me out drinking on fri night (surprise suprise...they want to drink :rolleyes: ). Anyhoo, so that is fri night, i work saturday and then sunday I'm off to see more friends for an afternoon at a beachside bar (the tables are in the sand) and they have live music. So that should be fun, as long as it cools down a bit.
Lots of stuff to do! I really have been having a bad mindset about food though...I really wants LOTS of food. I really want to BINGE....badly. Especially with hubs leaving it gives me more time by myself at home which isn't always a good thing. Thoughts of binging have really invaded my head lately...to the point of not being able to think of anything else. *grr*
oh, and i'm still waiting on you guys to go show your big muscles to intimidate my professor.....
Oooh man, I know that feeling! I had to fight off buying some binge-worthy food both Saturday AND Sunday... it was rough. Hang in there... I know it will be hard being all alone, just try to stay away from the binge foods (ok, easier said than done!) :(
Hi Alecia!!!!
I agree with Tara - try to plan stuff to keep you busy so you don't sit around too much and want to eat.. ;) Or just keep some healthy things in the house and hide the junk... :p
All your plans sound so fun! A beach bar?? OMG that is like the best thing ever! Having a drink with your feet in the sand... doesn't get much better than that! Have fun! And enjoy these times with your friends - since you soon will be moving away! :)
I'm so old-fashioned that I use a notebook. But it does help!
I understand your urge to binge. I find it helpful to delay the binging decision until some point in the near future. When I reach that point, I re-evaluate and may put it off again. Try telling yourself that you won't today but tomorrow you'll think about it. Or tell yourself that you won't until Friday when you go out - if you still feel like it then.
The new thing that I'm doing is some serious self-analysis on how eating so much will help me get over my anxiety or boredom or whatever. I basically pick it to death. I make myself answer questions about how the food will help me feel better, be less bored, etc. And when the food is gone, then what? I argue it back and forth but usually can't justify it.
Hiya ladies :)
Didn't binge :).
Did have a large amount of trail mix but not a binge...stopped when I was full and it wasn't even that good :o.
okay...so...I think I need to start baking MASSIVE amounts of brownies for all of you!!!!!!!!!!
You were right, I was wrong
I've had all the tests I need to for my shortness of breath and today I was told I have the heart of a trained athlete, valves that are in perfect working condition, and lungs are clean and well oiled. Soooo....shortness of breath....um...anxiety much? :o
SO anyway, I'm working, I'm packing, I took yesterday as a sick day and got a pedicure and hair cut :).
Life's good!
Hey gals...well, just hanging out here. I'm PMSing and therefore extremely emotional :rolleyes:. My countdown is at NINE days (business days). This weekend I went out friday night and got pretty drunk off of two beers and a lemon drop. I am pathetic! It was so fun though--made for a tough day at work saturday though. Then yesterday we went out with some friends to that sand bar. It was fun---the weather was beautiful, finally a little less hot...in the upper 80s at least.
Hubs is great. We are doing really well and I am really happy. Food's been hit or miss but as I was looking at the reduced priced bakery products this morning at walmart, I rationalized it and bought some bananas instead. *wipes brow* One more threat neutralized.
Sooooo...that's about it. Still working out but I'm really having some issues tying up loose ends here in the way of health insurance, credit cards, banking stuff. Luckily I have a husband who thrives on analysis and spreadsheets. He's so organized and has thought of SO many things that we need to do before we leave that I hadn't.....and he's doing a lot of them for me. I am a lucky gal :D.
Wait - you only have 9 days until you move???Hey Mar! Balance is tricky but I've noticed that over the past year I have been able to keep food in check before I completely blow up. My waist hasn't gotten above 29" since last August (honeymoon) whereas before there would be a few times (christmas, etc) during the year where none of my clothes would fit. It's nice being able to feel in control of that a bit more. Slowly.
9 days till my job is done...now, 7 :D. I move in 15 days :eek:!
FYI-cheap airfare between Chicago and KC.Hey beebs! Yes, I am very happy with where we are going, although neither hubs nor myself had much choice about it. He had to get matched to one internship site and that's the one he got....we could've been in Long Island, Syracuse, Denver, etc...we got lucky ;). I BET there IS cheap airfare between those two! How cool would that be!? I could just imagine us hanging out all weekend...I'd love to pick your brain about your business and your philosophies on healthy lifestyles!
Soooo...
Monday night was legs and back. I killed the legs, only did one back exercise. Shot around a bit after to get the blood flowing again.
Yesterday was BBALL! Woo hoo! 2 hours and I was spent. My feet were killing me...had a pedicure recently and my feet were just too soft for the starting and stopping of bball. My polish chipped off too on my big toe from it being jammed into my shoe :(. Repaired it though! I had planned on doing chest + shoulders but I got to the gym and two people just stopped what they were doing and came at me and said 'let's go' so......couldn't resist!
tonight will be chest + shoulders...unless another bball incident happens! ha!
So I am super excited because hubs wants to go strictly to cells in chicago. We did that in college and it was perfect but it got too expensive for us here when we were on such a tight budget so we went to Vonage and emergency pre-paid cells. He was showing me the plans last night and it will be a bit more than we pay now but not as much as we WERE paying..AND...I might get a pocket PC! He's getting one for cheapso from all of these rebates and deals (he's Mr. Find-A-Deal) so I think I'll get one too! And internet, MP3s, calendars, email, texts will be at my fingertips! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I don't think i really need one but they look so damn cool! He's getting a slider one with the keypad that slides out...I'm going with a cheaper one I think that just has the keypad on the outside...maybe I'll find a pic.....
We thought about going to cell only but found several reasons not to. I could live with the what ifs of losing the phone or letting the charge run out but my cell is also persnickety in the house. Even though there is no good reason, it is a crap shoot on whether or not I get coverage. So it's one of those deals where I'm frequently dropping calls unless I go outside which is not always practical.
But the big reason is that 911 knows you location if you hit the digits on a landline but not on a cell. So in a medical emergency (or if you were hiding from the bad guys) where you were unable to give the information, your cell would be useless for summoning help from emergency services.
Congrats on keeping a 29 inch waist. That's my goal but I have a ways to go yet to achieving it much less maintaining it.
Hey Beebs! Yes, we're going to check out the reception in the apt first....we have 30 days to cancel any plan and return the phones if we have to. The cool thing about our phones are that they are GPS enabled which means when we call 911 they know where we are :D. Thanks for the congrats! I've had it down to 28" in the past but so far I haven't been able to maintain it......
Most cells now have gps in them to locate a 911 call. BUT, even if you dont have phone service in your home you can still dial 911 from a landline! You just have to plug the phone in the jack. I keep a phone in my bedroom, under my bed, incase of emergency, just plug and dial!
That's good to know! I'll have to have another talk with the hubby.you should...capabilities of some of these things are just crazy. I am pumped to get mine!!! Saturday I think!
Soooo...another bball incident :o. BUT I did lift before so I lifted about 30 min (chest, shoulders, legs, lower back) and then played about 1.5 hours. Just half court though but still a good cardio wo. I am SORE today in the chest. I realized that I really enjoy working legs....HATE working back...and chest/shoulders are so-so.
Went home and hubs and I spent hours over the new plans and phones....got a GREAT deal. PDA (the Treo 755p) for $25, no activation fee, and 500 anytime minutes with free nights and weekends for $30 a month. That includes internet, TV, MP3 player, etc. :eek: I won't need cable (if I don't mind watching TV on a 3" screen!)! ha! I don't have cable now but I'd like it :). So yes, super excited! Having a husband that won't stop to find great deals is well worth it!
So anyway, now that that excitement is over (heart's still going over here but I know you guys are prolly --> :rolleyes: ) I'm heading to the gym once again today for something. Don't really know yet. Maybe back *puke* and some cardio. I'm feeling leaner for sure this week...all that ball playing (even with the 3000 cals I ate monday) has helped.
I need some help as I'm eating out a lot in the coming week......fri night I might drink again with co-workers...some of them had forgot about last week and want to go this week (how can I say no?!). Sat night I'm getting a really expensive meal at RL for 1/2 price as it's my last day and that's how I'm celebrating...it will probably be some form of steak and lobster so not too bad. Sunday my friends are having hubs and I over for a cookout and I'm bringing bottleS of wine and cheese and crackers (i could do with those two items but they insist on grilling something). Next week I think my coworkers at my primary job are taking me out and then I go to a wedding that weekend and then we move and hubs' family is helping and they LOVE to go out to eat so that will be a week of eating a lot of meals out.
I'm not worried though. I'm not even the slightest bit concerned...I think because I'm much more laid back (or trying to be) about the weight issue. I think that is better because I don't feel deprived right now, I feel like I can handle a situation in which there is a lot of food that I like and not binge. I'm happy with myself and what I've been able to maintain during the stresses of these past 4 years...working two jobs at 60-65 hours a week, taking 2 grad classes every semester with no breaks, and keeping a marriage going, all along with working out and eating healthfully. *pats self on back* :p
and it continues.....
It's time for me to take a break and I plan on it damnit. I plan on NOT worrying about ANYTHING for weeks...at least until september (and that includes macros, working out, and my weight too). I won't be doing anything that stresses me out or gets me anxious. I'll be chillin...cause that's how I roll. ;) LOL!
I won't have access to a gym but I have access to a beautiful new city where walking is the name of the game so I think I can keep my health up easily.
Okay so that was a pep talk to myself! i need it...got turned down for my practical dream job last night....not even an interview. Health Educator is the job and I am pretty disappointed. It's marketing, it's health promotion...all things that I have a lot of experience in through school and work. Specifically marketing health promotion and wellness plans so I'm a bit peeved that 'my qualifications didn't match' and that they 'are looking at other candidates that match the requirements better.' http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/wuerg/vomit-smiley-001.gif
*sigh* this is going to happen a million more times before I land a job.....I guess I'm just worried AGAIN that something is wrong with my resume and I'm not conveying my skills to potential employers well enough.
What they said. You've earned a break from everything. A short break will help you rest and recover physically and mentally from the last 4 years. Don't worry about the job - other "dream" opportunities will happen. And you don't know - maybe you would have had the world's worse boss if you had gotten this one or something equally undesireable. Even if (when) you go a bit overboard this weekend, you'll find that you'll miss your healthy eating and move back to it. With everything going on, you might gain a couple pounds (but mostly you'll bloat) and when you're ready to settle back down, it will come back off. No worries. Concentrate on saying goodbye and falling in love with your new home.
This sounds like a great plan! You are a stong healthy woman!! The rest is just ..........stuff.
Enjoy the new life. The right job will come your way....even though it's hard not to take the rejection personally.
When we made our last moved I bargained "no working" into the move.....he went for it!!
thanks golfy!!!
What they said. You've earned a break from everything. A short break will help you rest and recover physically and mentally from the last 4 years. Don't worry about the job - other "dream" opportunities will happen. And you don't know - maybe you would have had the world's worse boss if you had gotten this one or something equally undesireable. Even if (when) you go a bit overboard this weekend, you'll find that you'll miss your healthy eating and move back to it. With everything going on, you might gain a couple pounds (but mostly you'll bloat) and when you're ready to settle back down, it will come back off. No worries. Concentrate on saying goodbye and falling in love with your new home.Aw beebs...I think you're right---recovery! I know there's a path for me, I just have to find it and trust that it's there. I DID eat a lot this weekend---but restrained myself too---felt good :).
So...Fri night I didn't go out, just hung out with some Lobster people and cried my eyes out saying bye to my good friend. Saturday I had my 'last meal' which was 8oz sirloin, 6 coconut shrimp, and shrimp pasta with a bite or two of mashed tato. I ate half the sirloin and half the pasta...all of the shrimp. It was good! And I topped it off with about 3/4 of a hunk of chocolate cake which was HEAVEN! Didn't feel too bad actually--I hardly ate anything else that day so no biggie.
Sunday we went to our friends and had pork roast, huge baked potato, corn on the cob, cheese and crackers, and ice cream cake. Again, didn't eat much during the day because i knew this was coming and i faired pretty well i think! 2 glasses of wine did indeed get me intoxicated though :eek:!
Yesterday diet was great, lifting went well (got my 185 lb squat back---2 reps :p).
Today is going well so far. I have SO MUCH TO DO it's crazy. I'm going to try to get my homework done today and then start packing more things and cleaning up a bit. We leave early fri for the wedding, come back mon and then leave early AM thursday for chi-town.
I'm excited/stressed/overwhelmed/happy/etc. This will be interesting!
Sounds like the weekend was perfect!!! So sad about crying good byes to your RL co-workers. I'm sure they will miss you!! Your 'last meal' sounded awesome.
So are you done with your 9-5 job now? Or is this the last week? I'm sorry.. I can't exactly remember.. it's been a crazy past few days for me.. :cool:
Mornin guys....so no workout last night. I was on the treadmill for about 8 minutes and I just couldn't shut my mind off so I just left. I was almost having a panic/anxiety attack--whatever. It was bad and it felt good to leave. I went home and started working on my list--cleaned, picked up clothes, boxed up a few more things.
...and did one of my finals...whew! Beebs will understand this---it's a freaking organizational theory class and the final was a financial analysis, market analysis, and swot! wtf? the whole semester has been filled with crap we didn't learn about in the book or from him and the only way i know about it is from my mba. yeesh :rolleyes:.
anyway, today i have a list of crap to do....
exciting news....
I have signed up for the CHES (community health educator specialist) exam at the advice of the guy that turned me down from my most recent job application. It's in October and I'm scared---I haven't done that stuff in a LONG time! I found some papers going over the different competencies last night so I took that as my sign to really do it and go ahead and sign up. A bit of $$ but in the long run i think it'll be worth it. It can only open doors at this point.
that's all...gotta get ready for my second to last day of work ;).
Any time it feels good to LEAVE the gym .. it is time to LEAVE the gym .. :)
Glad you made such a wise choice Alecia!!
I am sure your mind is just maxed out with all you have going on ....
I hope you can find some time to include some activity for stress relief as well .. a massage, getting your nails done, whatever ...
Getting the doors open is often the most difficult part of the battle ... anything you can do to assist with that will certainly be worth the effort!!
Have a good one .. and BREATHE!!! :)
I know about this.. :o I majored in business management and Organizational Theory was my favorite class... the final I did was really hard too but my teacher was awesome and told us a lot of what would be on it.
Good luck on that!!
And YAY for taking the CHES exam!!!! Sounds like that will really help you out!!!
So glad your family is OK Alecia!!! That is SO scary. I'm always scared driving on bridges - I always have that thought in my head 'what if it falls?' but they're so big you think.. 'nahhh' .. :( Now I'm going to be really scared.
Those poor people that were on that bridge.. :(
Well - have a safe trip home. Hope you can enjoy time with your family!!!
And on a brighter note...
IT'S YOUR LAST DAY OF WORK!!!!!!! WOOHOOO!
