free weights are best for mass... no doubt about it...
Ok, but with hammer strength machines you don't need a spotter and max out. With free weights you need one. Lots of bodybuliders train alone. To gain 'MASS' you need to max out on every set and need a spotter don't you?
Now tell me which one is best?

no... that is bull****... you don't need a spotter... perform as many reps as possible in good form until you can't do another one... many people think spotters are detremental... If you can't do another rep then don't do it... your set is over... push yourself but you don't need a spotter....
by maxing out you mean going to faliure right? because when I think of maxing out it is doing a 1 rep max to find out how much weight you can lift... and you should almost never do those... maybe once every few months because they will slow progress by overloading your CNS...
Ok, thanks for you advice, Keep 'Pumping Iron'.

free weights all the way but you can't go wrong using hammer strength to hit the areas free weights can't. Also they give you a hell of a burn.

F*** Hammer strength.... there good machines for isolation... but I think alot of people that go for machines are mainly just laxy people in general!!! Period! unless your injured I don't see the point with using all these fansy dancy machines free weights build real strength and also huge muscle mass as well...machines give you a false sense of strength in my opinion!!!
