Why hello stranger! You aren't eating enough....nor are you eating enough carbies! You have to eat at least 200 calories over your mantainance to bulk.... Your fats should be 30% at the highest....I really like a 50/30/20 for bulking and in general. My calorie intake is approx. 2000 and I'm a small fry. I think you should be somewhere near 2100 calories a day...just a guess not knowing your weight, height or bf! haha ;) Kris is right, carbies and milk are the miracle workers when bulking. Your carbs should be in the general area of 200-190 a day. I eat a lot of fruits, almonds, ff cottage cheese, ff yogurt, ff milk, oats, whey, go lean cereal, ground turkey, chicken, turkey lunch meat, and even wheat bread girl! :D Don't be scared....eat those d@mn carbs!!!! I even got my bench up to my body weight.....come on, join in on the fun!

Me to the rescue....naw! There's many days where I thought I couldn't or can't and you ladies have brought me up. You rescued yourself...you just don't know it yet. ;) Hey right now wear what you are comfortable in at the gym. If you put on a tank and you feel gross, grap a tee shirt. Makes you focus on your lifting instead of what other people are thinking or you feeling uncomfortbale in any way. I've been wearing tee shirts and it helps me feel comfortable right now.

I use oats, oat bran, sweet potato, fruit...lots of things. :) Usually a combo of oats, whey, and fruit. Sometimes oat bran, egg whites, and fruit. A little healthy fat is good preworkout, so you could have some fish oils or some natural PB there.

Bad,Bad girl on tracking this weekend!!!! I think the idea of the intensity of record keeping the next 16 weeks encouraged either laziness or rebellion.
Didnt keep one single number. I treated it like I never lifted before. Ive got some aprehension about whats to come, maybe because this time flew by so fast. Its hard to believe I was doing this a year ago. Ive been searching for a detox. I do remember it playing a significant difference in my diet prep. However, I dont remember WHAT I DID!

I have been buying size 9 in womens(first time in my life) seems to work but waist is a little big. My quads have grown by leaps and bounds so I cant fit into half of my clothes. Hubby said wear skirts and you wont have that problem. I told him I like my jeans(I work in a very casual place to and mostly men so I get very self concisous with the gauking. I work in an office for a landscaping company so you know whjat I mean.

Kris and Powells - are you sure you guys cant knock off a couple of banks to get to us. Im gonna need back up.
I wasnt really feeling this SB thing at first. But then I realized its the perfect Milestone for Ty's 10th B-day. Although we arent actually getting in the game. There are millions of activies(most free or cheap for kids to do) Its pretty sad, well all be missing the $500 and up P-Diddy, Usher parties not to mention Em's party will probably have lines out the door because the tix were cheaper. But I'll live. Trust me when its all said in done, Ill probably have just as much fun for free.

you must be talking about the email! who ever took the time "WRONG, JUST WRONG"

I, dont think I ever told this but those pix are the reason for this next entry....

...when I competed last year, my parents, both sets, started acting really funny, turned out that NONE OF THEM, wanted to see me in competition physical state! My dad admitted to my mom, he didnt want to see my reveal so much, my stepmom, had "spiritual reasons", and my mommie told me "I looked like a crack addict". Why am I admitting this now, I got some ULTRA(my favorite word!) DEEP pictures, that are without a doubt, the reason, most women run from any form of lifting. Although I have no idea if the pix had been altered, Im still uncomfortable with the fact that Ive seen in person, body altering(the nice way of putting it) in this state with my own 2 eyes.

Body Building to me is one of the most beautiful ways to display one's own physical knowledge of the human body and the human mystery. It also glorifies God's greatness in creating such an awesome entity: human physiology. I hope more people grow to respect what and why we do this. Its an awesome lifestyle to live!!!!

WBM missed a smilie
 : eek :

funny that you ask your q. in barb's journal because we all read it.. good idea..

I responded in there - basically that you should go to a doctor - and get sent to a physio.

don't wait around for possibly serious shoulder injuries to heal.

too bad! As someone who has permanant shoulder problems, I am recommending you get yourself to a doctor and get a physio appt. right away.. they will check for inflexibility and perhaps take x-rays.. I highly recommend not waiting on a shoulder injury.

Oh my gosh, that is so true.
I am sorry that your parents werent supportive...I would your step mom besides her "spiritual reasons" why else dosent she want you to compete?
~I dont understand the problem with Ultra Deep, what does that mean? And why would women shy away from it.

You did not look like a crack addict....sheesh. Thats just rude. I mean right then you are so vulnerable, and those comments just cut right through! You must be strong of will.

Yes, I agree, its a show of your knowledge of yourself too. I mean not every one can do this...I havent yet, but its worth a shot. Its like chemestry sort of...lol. Well it is! Its so exciting to do this!!!

Love your spirituality Angeleye!!! KUDOS TO YOU!!! :)

Now you woman ... quit messing with that shoulder ... even if you don't want to see a physician ... try a chiropractor ... they have given me some great help with my shoulder after breaking it ... that and adding external rotations to build it up have made a world of difference! I so hear ya on the pain in removing shirts etc ... but it doesn't have to be that way ........ get it taken care of now before it really becomes an ongoing problem! I have also had some great success with theraputic massage to the shoulder .... hope you get some relief and SOON!!!!

Definitely talk to the chiropractor from step class. We can't have you out of the game again! What a sweet daughter you have. :) You've got to be proud of her. Most kids don't have that sort of compassion for other people until they are MUCH older.

Girl ... reading about that shoulder brings back all sorts of memories ... however you can't really compare recovery time because I was totally out of commission with it for 6 months ... yes, hit the chiro ... he'll take some films, get a fix on exactly what is going on, and hopefully then will be able to assist you with a treatment plan ... DON'T hesitate another day with getting a good diagnosis and treatment ~~~~~~~ we want you on the road to recovery ~~~~~ NOT going the other way! In the mean time, have you tried some ibuprofen to relieve some of the inflammation???

Have a good one brik chick!!

Actually all the anxiety went away when they cancelled. Not that Im scared for dear life like i used to be, but yestersday was not good for my schedule.

I need to be held accountable in taking this test. Ive wanted to do it for over a year now, but Ive always let other thing or another get in the way. My love for this environment has made me assess my current work ethic. Im a true believer that if you seek deep enough you be able to find a career that satisfies the physical as well as the spiritual! So as we speak Im looking at various programs in Nutrition as well as Physical Fitness that are available on local campuses.

Happy Monday Everybody!
I had a really good weekend and all was accomplished that needed to be. It started off with a well balanced wko on Friday. Step warm up, light weight powerflex, and concentrated ab work. I ended the evening working on a portion of our couples routine. Fun, but didnt get a solid structure yet.
Sat took the kids to a medical workshop, where they learned about nutrition and where Babies come from amd that was extremely fun! Sundays wko improved drasticly, I actually was able to work at 95%. I did all 100 push ups which is a far cry from wednesday awesome 16. Although most (set/work) started with a little pinch, by the 3rd rep it disappered. I also incorporated more stretching in and that helped as well.
Today is chiropractor/doctor. I have two appts. and trying to figure out which will be more beneficial.

Oh BTW, got measurements, no pix, but Im waiting for my co-conspiritor!

okay, our secret though, promise ;) - for valentines day I bought the kids a strawberry/vanilla layed cake. (Kiddie size) I actually just took a small sliver(and Im being honest) and crumbled it on top of the banana. It was good, considering it was next to the triple choco cake, dunkin donuts, and the Whittman's samplers my dad bought for valentines day. Being at home has truly made a courageous woman out of me! Some days its sooooooooo hard to live amongst the bad habits. i.e., my father cooking late(after 11pm), sweets in every room in the house, my step moms potatoe chip addiction, my dads idea of a staple being sugar free vanilla ice cream, and of course the idea that bread and butter go with every meal. ITS KILLING MY KIDS, THEY ARE TOTALLY CONFUSED. They have fallen in love with toast!
I promise pix tonight - I promise!

AHHHHHHHHHHH! Im done with the worlds most boring 2 day training. Im totally out of sync. Meals and rest. Im taking today to pull together my stats for the last couple of days.
By fluke I ended up at my NEW consultant on Saturday. I wasnt supposed to see him until THIS FRIDAY, but I have to train at a conference this weekend. I have my official CONTEST DIET - SO YOU KNOW MY EXCITEMENT IS OFF THE CHAINS!!!!! We worked over the training schedule and decreased the sets(as expected) and basicly set the new transformation goals. Concerns about the length of the diet, bf%, and LEGS were my key problem areas, and he addressed them all with great confidence that things are going to be much more success this time. Not to mention, my knowledge base of what MY BODY is capable of is far more the wiser!- Most importantly, $$$$$$ will be used in the appropriate areas at the APPROPRIATE TIMES. Lots of $$ went to waste last year on things I just didnt need at certain times. I so excited to be in the hands of someone I can trust. I got burnt on the last run, and I promised him I would SEEK, KILL OR DESTROY him if he left me out to dry. Considering my size in comparison to him: I think he thought that was cute :>

I got major new data to plug, be back in a minute......

btw, are any of your other ladies being girly like me looking for really CUTE sweats and gymies FOR THE ARNOLD................hey I dont get out often so Ive officially made this the venue "that I have to have SWEET GYM SHOES FOR!" IM SUCH A GIRLY GIRL!

Last post - WEDNESDAY (no points on this one

MOOD:Wonderful, and although I would like to say it is some result of my effort - I must put in perspective that Ive committed to a praise and worship cd ("Throne Room" - CeCe Winans) and it has made a tremendous change in my life. My level of peace has intensified, my temperment has mellowed, and last but not least my consistency in these areas have improved by 100%. Im really excited to see some changes - almost more than in my body.

Now here's the skinny on the training: Ive only lost 2#'s after being on this diet for over 1 month. Very interesting to say the least. Some key factors Im trying to remember: although I wasnt cutting before, outside of the occasional loss of control, my diet was pretty decent, and the other factor, Im still busting out of my jeans at the thigh. Now here's to praying that all that heavy lifting will go to justice! :)
Soooooooooo all that being said, Im going to continue to roll with Animal Pakfor training and here we go................

training routine #4 (6 day split, 2 on, 1 off, 2 on (modified 2 days off)
weds: chest/shoulders

Hi you! How have you been? My reading has been horrible, I actually have work to do now when I come :(

Sunshineslynn
04-05-2006, 12:36 PM
Okay here is what I have learned recently...
Eat Bananas only after post workout due to insuline spikes. Keep fruit like apples, cataloupe, papaya (I will have to look up the others.) Your fats are pretty high too esp. sat. fat. Maybe sub those strawberries for a different carb like brown rice, or ligumes. Your protien intake is pretty high to but that could be from not substracting the foods that are not whole protiens. Like when you eat certain carbs they have protien but not whole protien and you can not count that towards your protien count. What weight are you wanting to get to? What is your heart rate during cardio?

Sorry so many questions just trying to help you out the best I know.

I dont have a weight goal, last time I went to 120 and It didnt even look healthy, Im thinking 125.
Heart rate Ill is somewhere around 185/190 according to the monitor, not my count.

Okay that is great. Now for the heart rate at 60 mins at that high you are building cardiovascular and endurance. So with that said try doing it moderate pace around 136-140 hrt (which is great for dipping into the fat stores to use it as fuel and not the muscle.) Try lowering the cardio to 45mins at a steady hrt. From what I have been learning that is a good way to insure your not burning muscles especially if your doing cardio for only 45min. I am also a true believer in HIIT but I am trying this for now and I am seeing pretty good results. Now when I get stumped on loosing I will add in a HIIT session.

Looks like you had a great workout. And everytime you think about cheating remind yourself you will never get to your goal. What are you craving? If its sweets then I would up the carbs and lower the fat some. I say that because that is my problem I crave sweets so I am on a 35pro/50carb/15fats. So far I am seeing that I dont crave the sweets.

Well as usual the weekend had its usual challenges. The freedom and access to the foods I wouldnt normally eat proved to intice me. I think the key is change. The repetition gets to me and I start to crave things out of the norm. I ended up working this weekend so hence the evidence to me not posting in a couple of days :)

Monday

grains
Cereals: Other
All bran extra fiber Whole wheat pasta
Bran bud plus psylium Corn
Hi Low Yams
Kashi
Kashi Go Lean Breads
Whole wheat/whole rye
Hot Cereal Pita
Barley Pumpernickel
Bulgur Sourdough

Rice: Legumes:

Vegetables
Broccoli, Collard/mustard greens, sprouts, lettuce, spinach, peppers, peas, cabbage, asparagus, onions, cucumber, muschrooms, soybeans, califlower

Fruits
Apples, Apricots, Peaches, Nectarines, Pears, Cantaloupe.

Avoid or minimize bananas, pineapple, raisins, grapes and watermelon.

Complete Protein Meat
Ground turkey extra lean, boneless skinless chicken breast, *beef eye of round *flank steak, *top round **with all visible fat removed, Bison/Venison steaks, Ostrich, Low fat lunchean meats the least processed the better, all fish especially cold water fish.(you can buy buffalo at most whole food stores which is ideal meat actually better than chicken.)
Other complete Protiens
egg whites or non-fat egg substitute, PP, nf milk, nf cottage cheese, nf cheese, dannon or yoplait lite yogurt, low fat tofu

Complete proteins contain all of the essential amino acids. These come from animal sources. Incomplete proteins are lacking one or mre of the essential amino acids. These come from plant sources. Incmomplete proteins will not be counted as part of your protein requirement. The body needs all of the essential amino acids present at one time to be able to synthesize them. Calories from incomplete proteins (except those from fat) should be considereed carbohydrate claories because they will most likely be converted to cab in the body. If you wish to minimize your animal proteins you must use complimentary proteins which are a combination of imcomplete proteins from different groups to form a complete protein. the groups you must combine are grains, legumes, seeds and nuts, vegetables.

Okay that is alot to take in but will give you some more choices to avoid the binging..

Alergy kicked in - NOW mouth sore from Hades! And did I mention I had to take a pain reliever to eat last night. Oh yeah probably didnt, because you would know I took the wrong kind :) Its official, VICODIN is not for punks! And now 12 hours later..............Im still WEIRD!!!!!!!!!!! Help me! :D

SO IVE BEEN CHILLIN! Havent documented since thursday but Ive been a good girl. Unforunately I dont have my log on me, but It looked something like:
thurs: legs
fri: cardio, and abs
sat: ??? I give up, I think its the low carb thing!
Sunday- church

Monday - new diet :)
lost workout on sunday, REAL STRONG ATTEMPT TO DO IT AFTER CLASS - both of us just crashed and burned :(
back:
• Dead Lifts: 3 Sets x 10 Reps@135
• DB Rows: 3 Sets x 10 Reps@35
• Lat Pulldown: 3 Sets x 10 Reps@50
• Rear Delt lift: 2 Sets x 12 Reps@15
needless to say, heres what I was supposed to do in addition:
• Barbell Shrugs: 3 Sets x 12 Reps
• DB Shrugs: 3 Sets x 12 Reps
• Upright Rows: 3 Sets x 12 Reps

Went to see the consultant on sat. Diet changed a tad, not much however and Ive started 7 keto and L-Carnitine. Interestingly enough, I felt a huge difference in my activity level, my mood and my endurance during my workout.
Scale changed by three, but we all know that doesnt mean anything. Posing sucks for me, I dont have a solid grip on. However, Ive noticed that my confidence level plays a huge part in it. I know the more I practice the better Ill get, so here goes the NEWEST committment: 4:30-5:30a practice practice practice. Hopefully this will get my but in gear!

Eat Bananas only after post workout due to insuline spikes.

i don't mean to confuse anyone but fructose (fruit) doesn't cause insulin spikes. it is a slow-digesting sugar.

workout still a day off but as for my diet - IT WAS ON! but my ratios are pretty high, really need to talk to V.I.P. Fitness today, seems like my cals would be a little lower :(

Looking forward to chest today:

FINALLY!
Im out of training and back to work. Hate I havent had time to post because its been a really successful week for me. Everything has been on point(especially my diet) I actually go to 2 clubs and both scales show a 3 lb drop, however, I just look and feel a whole lot leaner. Ive been focused and have had quality workouts. My cardio days have been productive since Ive modified them per "Sunshine" I actually feel a difference post workout ;)
Last post on Friday so here's the short of it all.
everything flowed and was done for form!
Sat: clean up day for chest
Sunday: Back/cardio add in: lunges for balance of leg routine
Monday: Step/circuit
Tues: Chest/delts/posing(side chest sucks but in the making - still cramping
Wed: 15min each: efx(lvl7-10), elliptical(lvl 10), tread(grad up to lvl 4 incl 4.5,random) then wet area(for soreness prevention - it worked!)
My favorite tonight: Legs

everything is looking good. I used to be obsessed about my thighs but those days are over, I know they come either geneticly or over extensive work. Everything else is smooth sailing, I must say I love obliques, there a motivation of their own.

Work is weird, its obvious change is on the horizion, some are dealing with it calmly, and others in denial. Im taking it as the next path God would have me to walk. This is going to sound flaky, but Im like your date, not really sure of the right steps to go with. Teaching is my passion and Ive always had the desire to do so on a college level, just how to I begin, where and when are the next batch of questions........

yourfaveandmine
04-27-2006, 07:24 AM
I go to the YMCA in Southgate. I'm a student at Wayne State, though, and I'm planning on checking out their facilities sometime this month since I already am forced to pay for it with my tuition. I've heard it's very nice there.

What about you?

I love their track too! I love spying down on the people playing basketball when you run by the downstairs gym.

I read you're interesting in teaching. That's what I'm back in school for right now. I have a BA in prelaw/poly-sci, so I'm getting a MAT (master's in the art of teaching) from WSU to teach high school English. After that, I'll also be qualified to teach at some community colleges because they'll usually take anyone with a master's. I want to do that too, maybe later on in life. If you have any questions or anything about how I got started going back to school or the profession/opportunities in MI, don't hesitate to ask me. :)

Have a great day!

yourfaveandmine
04-28-2006, 09:23 AM
You should go for it!!! Like I said, I go to Wayne State. All of my classes are evening or weekend, and there's a wide age spread. I went very much part time the first 3 years (averaging one class/semester) ... next year, I'll take more, and it will be my last year (*knock on wood*)

Baker College in Allen Park is where my boyfriend goes for business, but he's told me they have an education program that offers a lot of online and evening courses.

If you already have a bachelor's degree, all you need to do is pursue teacher certification, but they recommend going into a master's program so the credits apply towards a degree. You can get financial aid that way, and once you get certified, you'll just have 2 more classes before you have a master's and thus a mandatory raise if you work for a public school.

I definitely say pursue your passion. The more classes I'e taken, the more excited I get to teach :)

BACK TO BASICS
The weekend was awesome for me, I got so much work done, that Im amazed I hadnt attempted some of those chores earlier.....lots of work around the house and seeing that Ive finally gave in to an agent, it will probably be to the benefit of all involved.
