I am 35 and am entering my first competition this saterday.(NC Supernaturals). My bf% will be around 4%. I'm just wondering whether it is a good idea to start loading up on creatine. I have heard that it makes you retain water. If so, is the water held in the muscle or right beneath the skin. Any suggestions?

Thanks

same question, and seeing as how your show is over tell us what you did and how it worked. got a show coming up in 2 weeks.

As my husband got ready for his show, he was told to stay away from creatine as it does make you hold water. That's basically it!

Creatine would be good for a "off season" muscle-building regiment, but pre-contest, your goal is to cut up and get dry, and creatine won't help in that department.

There are some good articles on bb.com, check out the one by Big Cat.

He argues that it will fill you out, and actually help shed water.

Although not training for competition, I am dieting down, and have loaded this week. And I can tell you I have not noticed any bloating, but do see muscles hardness and fullness.

I second the above opinion. I loaded for a week b4 last show and had no problems w/ h2o.

hmmmm.......

Well, being that we were told that, we never tried it, so we really don't know. Glad to hear that others have had good luck with it!

I use creatine until two weeks out, then cut it out 2 mondays before the show, then add it back in the monday just before and it seems to work very well and not allow any water to spill over.. if it does, I add in taraxatone and glycerol...
