I'll be doing a few little experiments in the next two or so days, thought your guys might like the info. I'm going to be fiddling with dreaming and supplements, I have heard some good anecdotal evidence, including some reports on Erowid, for a Valerian, Melatonin, B-6 combo. I have also had good experiences with 5-HTP and dream recall before, very, very good experiences. Tonight I'll be doing this:

1g B-6
2.5 mg Melatonin
400mg Valerian
50mg 5-HTP

Let you know how it goes tommorrow...

(BTW, for anyone interested in replicating, I have heard that the B-6 HAS to be in the form of Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, which can be gotten anywhere for a very good price, as can the other ingredients.)

Melatonin gives me some very strange dreams. I hope your experiment goes well...

I should also note that this technique is only for sparing use, do not do this often, escpecially if you take a B complex. Temporary nerve damage in the arms and legs could result.

EDIT: This is because of the super-high does of B6. I found a section on Merck's website that said that the nuerotoxicity involved happens at doses of 2 to 6 grams of B6 a day for a long time, so this acute dose should be OK.

No effects. I noticed a small increase in awareness going into the hypogogic (sp?) state, but no good dreams. I also had a rough time going to sleep. The B-6 made me feel sick all day too. I'll try again on tuesday, this time with 800mg of B-6 and nothing else. I think the Valerian might have supressed my dreams, given that it acts like a weak benzo.

Did you get the idea from my suggestion in the lucid dreaming thread?

Good luck mate, I've been doing it for 2 weeks now with great results

Valerian acts in NO WAY like a benzodiazepine, even a "weak" benzo. Just wanted to point that out. Anyways...I've tried the Valerian, melatonin, b-6 night-time combo. For some reason, melatonin alone seems to potentiate my dreams more than with the combination of those three. My two cents...
