Okay I have finally decided to do a journal of the next 11 weeks for me. I am planning on doing the Palmetto Cup in Columbia sc on May 14 2005. I will post some pics this weekend and continue to do so for progress reports. I wanted to do more than this show, but my husband is in the US Coast Guard and we will be transferring to Alameda Ca the first of June...I might do one after we get there but I am unsure since we have four kids 16,14,11, and 5 and he will be gone for months at a time.

Here is my diet and usually is this everyday but Saturday.

1 1/2 to 2 gallons water a day.

Meal 1
6 egg whites 1 whole egg with veggie cheese(will cut that soon)
1/2cup oats w/1/4cp wild berry mix

Meal 2
1/2 cup oats w/1scp protien

Meal 3
4oz tuna
1 cup sweet potatoe
2 cups veggies

Meal 4
protien shake made with 1/2cp yogurt and water
handful of almonds

Meal 5
protien shake w/ 1/4cp oats

Meal 6
4oz chicken
2 to 21/2 cps veggies


Todays workout

20min hiit am

pm weight lifting

Back/Bi day
warmup w/chins and wide grip pullups
150 DLs 3x8
100lb Bentover rows 3x6
90lb close grip pulldowns 3x8
120lb cable rows 3x8 superset with double cable bicep curls 50lbs
40lb 21's
20lb conce. curls

Everything looks great, the only thing I would suggest is maybe replacing one of the protein shakes in meals 4 or 5 with real food (cottage cheese maybe?)
But 3 shakes is still okay..

Oh helen I only take for pre and post shakes that one protien in am is mixed with the oats and cooked.

I am so coming to see you!! LOL I can't wait! :) I was planning on going to The Palmetto Cup and The State Bodybuilding Show here in Columbia as I thought it would be good for me to see some shows before I do mine. Best of luck to you!!

Oh my goodness. I must have worked the hell out of myself last night. My whole back side hurts to even drink my water. I love that feeling, lets me know I am pushing myself really hard. I can not believe I am actually retaining my mass pretty well loosing inches and about 1/2 lb week down to 118lbs. My abs are actually starting to come out. At the gym last night this friend of mine was like great god your cutting in nice. Made me feel so great to know that someone actually noticed. I am going to take pics tomorrow and load them up, so you guys can critique me.

This is not good. Yesterday I tripped off a curb and landed wrong. My left quad felt strained and now this morning it hurts. I know in my hearts of hearts that I pulled it. At the moment I have heat on it and relaxing it as much as possible. No leg work out today. I hope this is only minor injury I should be able to tell around Wed.

I did loose more inches no weight but inches. Which is good thing. I dont know If I can hit the poses to take pictures tonight we will see.

Diet today is the same as before.

usually leg day so I am doing Shoulders
cleans 3x8 100lbs
standing miltary press 3x8 60lbs
front and side lateral raises 3x10 15lbs
bentover raises 3x8 20lbs
shrugs 3x8 120lbs

I did no cleans yesterday to much pressure on legs. But I did work the hell out of my shoulders. no work out today. Diet is same. Would do cardio but cant with leg. No bruising so that is good.

Im excited to follow your journal. Our shows are around the same time and a commrade with like thinking is awesome.(may 21st for me) Im curious what your physical stats are. Im new and you may have posted it somewhere else.
Im considering a journal, but that means Ill have to lose this sick sense of denial and start hearing my own truth about myself. Also, did the children leave any evidence on your flesh on your stomach? This factor alone has given my many 2nd thought on competing.

I was blessed with good skin no stretch marks. To clarify 2 are mine and 2 are my husband's but all live with us and dont see the other parents.

Glad to hear that you are competing around the time I am. If you need anything I will try to help ya. What federation are you in? I'm in the NPC.


Currents Stats as of 2/28/05
118lbs
34.5 chest (was 36 so sad they are disappearing)
26.5 waist
35.5 hips
11.5 bicep flexed
13 calves
19.5 quads

Bf not sure I think around 15-16% going to try to get that done this weekend. We will see though weekends are a circus in my house.

I will be NPC as well. However, I was considering a WNSO FAME show also. The shows fall on the same date. At this time Ive been asking around for comparisions. I asked about your stats because I took the OMROM BF% test on Sunday and literally almost started crying in the gym. (20.1%) I thought my results would have been achieved much sooner. (Mass Increase/Fat loss diet started mid Jan 24.4BF% at the time) After I sucked it up, I came crashing into the reality that Ive just got to STEP UP MY GAME. The fire is there but the discipline needs a overhaul. Your journal has helped me refocus. You have already been an amazing HELP!

angeleye, I was told for the Omron to take a female athletic reading, a male athletic reading -- average the two -- and subtract 1%. When I do this, I get a reading that is almost exactly the same as my caliper readings my nutrition lady does. You should also take the Omron reading first thing in the morning, right after you tinkle. Hope that helps. :)

Angeleye- My competition is a WNSO FAME competition. I have been to the National competition in Toronto, and it was awesome. Plus the people running the comp sent me cards to post up at my gyms, and Posters. The federation seems to be really friendly and supportive of its athletes. I have also meet a female bodybuilder who competes in the federation and loves it, and said she would never switch to another one.

Sorry Sunshinelynn for butting in. You are doing great, it must be nice to have such a tiny waist. Hope your leg is feelign better.

I really think everything is against me doing this competition in May. My leg feels much better but now I am running a fever arrrrrrgh.... A friend of mine that was at my house on Sunday is now sick with the flu.. I swear I am going to scream if I have it. I am already battling my addiction to working out with my leg lol... You know when you have your mind set and when something goes wrong it is hell on the mental status. I keep thinking ohhh I cant take a break but if I dont I know it will hurt me more. We will see how I feel tomorrow.

I noticed your no stretch marks remark. I don't have any either and Brittany weighed 9lbs, 2oz. It's a blessing! LOL

My leg is alot better yeeeaaaahhh.....but still sick.

Well this is start of 10weeks out so next week I will post more pics so you ladies can see progress if any. I have to charge the batteries and will get the rest of pics posted today. I am not low enough bf yet but that will come in the coming weeks and need a tan. Start tanning today.

Yeahh... Got 25 mins of hiit in this morning. I also did some ab work. Today is chest day here is my routine

flat bench 3x8 125lbs
incline bench 3x8 85lbs
decline bench 3x8 135lbs
cable flys 3x8 50lbs each side
scull crushers 3x8 35lbs
dips 3x12 ( this one usually I can barely kick out the last one really have to push)

Since this week has been so messed up with workouts I will make it up on the back side. I usually take weekends off, but not this one. Tomorrow will be back day I will post my routine tomorrow.

You look great! It looks like you've packed on some good mass over the past 10 months -- I'm sure you'll cut up beautifully.

BTW, your benches are awesome! I'm a total weakling when it comes to my chest ... your #s are definitely inspiring me to work that area a lot harder!

Your back looks very good, and you should cut up nicely. I am also very impressed with your lifts. My goal this off season is to get my bench up to 125lbs. Very Motivating!!!

You look wonderful- very inspirational! I can't even believe that you have kids, I am so paranoid of having kids and getting stretch marks and gaining weight. Seeing how strong and beautiful you are helps me to realize that a woman can do both.

Oh you guys are so sweet.. Thanks so much... Having kids is not so bad. Mine when they were small I would lay down on my back hold my knees up and place the kiddos there and do leg lifts. Talk about workout. I would also do bench presses with them my oldest was 40lbs when she 11months so it was a good workout. You girls are giving me more drive to be better than I ever have. I am glad I started this journal.

Well I was gonna do chest tonight and that fell through since I had no one to spot. So since I am behind anyway this week I decided to do Back/bis

Deads 145lbs 3x10
SLDS 100LBS 3X8( I know I am supposed to separate but I did anyway)
close grip pulldowns 100lbs 1x8 90lbs 2x8 supersetted with bentover pulls 30lbsdb 3x6
cable rows 110lbs(not as much as last week) 3x10 supersetted double bi cable curls 50lbs 1x10 40lbs 2x12
Drop set curls 45lbs, 36lbs, 30lbs 3x8
alternate curls 15lb db 3x8

My arms were screaming....veins all popping out in my shoulder. That is one thing I love watching when I get low bf. veins coming out when working hard. I know It may seem sick but hey I have worked hard for this.

Oh I have to tell you guys this. These two young (about 18) guys came into the gym tonight. It was hilarous to watch them. The bigger of the 2 tried to show off, mind you I have never seen them in there before, was trying to bench press(cold) 225lbs. Well his friend was not paying close attention, hands in his pockets while he was spotting. So I saw this coming I slowly walked by to make sure someone would catch the weight. The one benching starts to get in trouble after dismounting the weight and the other almost let the weight fall on him. Then they stop that and try to be impressive again by standing next to me and make grunts while trying to lift weight way to heavy for them. I can not stand youngsters trying to be more manly than they really are. or in fact any man....men and there testostrone....lol. You know women dont go around grabbing theirselves to show how womanly we are do we ladies no..... Sorry for the vent but this with some other things going on tonight(my ex and his stupidness) I felt that I needed vent this.

I have a terrible sinus headache this morning. I hoping it will ease off before 3pm so I can actually do my chest day since I switched it up yesterday. So the work out today will be chest as previous posted, hubby is coming to spot me yeah. I am sure he will be watching my form very closely and not letting me be a lazy. He pushes me very hard and I love it since it usually pisses me off and makes me work even harder to prove him wrong. Oh and I am sure we will work on poses in between sets as always when he comes in to help.

Oh I have confession. Last night the kids had pizza oh I do so love pizza....I had three bites and threw the rest away. I was shocked that I threw the rest away. I knew I would throw everthing away if I ate more. My willpower is getting stronger and stronger with pizza. I usually have really good will power but it smelled so good. After that I made my chicken with veggies and pretended it was pizza. Now I feel better.

Woo-hoo! Having three bites and throwing the rest away would take way more willpower from me than just hiding from it altogether. I'd say you're getting stronger all around ... body, mind and spirit!

Oh, and the young gym dudes are hilarious! Very entertaining stuff ...

I have a terrible sinus headache this morning.

I woke up stuffy this morning but it's better now. I always can't wait for spring, then the minute the pollen comes out, I remember what I don't like about spring in South Carolina. :eek:

That's what i have to do when I eat chocolate sometimes, I'll have a bite then throw the rest away.

its okay. I am not as lean yet as I was in the tan pic. and the lighting was horrible. I was taking pictures by myself and when hubby saw the ones that I posted he cringed. He said that next time he will take the correct one....lol. So hopefully tomorrow we will take some in the morning.

I would try today to take pics but I'm taking my stepdaughter to a concert tonight and have lots to do.

That is it since I will be crawling out of the gym....

Hard earned sweat has gone into pushing that weight. Trying to get these stubborn legs to grow. Hubby says their awesome but not to me their not big enough lol...maybe cause I see them everyday.

You have to try not to pinch your shoulders. For double bicep your try to keep elbows up a little and deadcenter. For figure back poses you again try not to pinch shoulders together and bring top of shoulders a little forward to bring V out in the middle of back and flare your lats along with pushing your butt out so your back is arched (no creases on bottom of butt that is how arched your back has to be...) and while doing all of this keep all muscles tensed up everywhere. Its hard either pose but practice practice practice. I will post that tomorrow morning. Hubby finally going to take pics....yeahhh.

When I get home for lunch I will try to lighten these up. I did not realize how dark they came out.

Oh on leg day yesterday I switched up somethings. I could not lift the 250lbs & 270lbs as normal due to I was scared of reinjuring left quad. So I did this routine
squats atg 135lbs 2x12 1x16
squats parallel 225lbs 3x10
press 352lbs 3x8
superset press close low footing w/wide high footing 2x10
hacksquats 185lbs 3x8

No cardio today.
Shoulder/Trap day will post that routine later since I dont have my written journal with me atm.

Oh, i have a question, you know how bodybuilders/competitors spend a lot to compete, $ on suits and stuff, do winners get any prize money? Or does the money come in on endorsements and such? (yes I am that clueless, don't laugh) :D

Prize money comes in later in the game at higher levels of competing. Some prize money gets up to $20,000 but thats at pro status. Endorsements are where they make the most money. You really have to sell yourself to get those. Like when entering a show get to know the promoters and have cards with your pics and experience on them and hand them out. This helps you get endorsements and gets your name out there. The more shows you do the better they know who you are.

And thanks for the explanation above, oh I also gotta say you got me doing poses in front of the mirror after my workout tonight :D maaaan do my quads need work! I used to have nicely defined (but small) ones in highschool when my body fat was also a lot lower. :0/

Yesterdays work out

shoulder presses 2x15 2x12 20lb dbeach hand
sitted lateral raises drop sets 12lbs, 8lbs, 5lbs 3x10
cable front raises 20lbs each hand 2x15 1x12
reverse pec deck 15lb db ehand 3x15
shrugs 100lbs 4x15 supersetted with upright rows 15lbs db ehand 3x15
standing calf lifts 320lbs 4x15
sitted calf lifts 60lbs 4x15

This morning 25mins on cardio. One ab exercise all I had time for since I got to gym so late. No work out this evening just tanning.

I have still have not lost a pound lingering on 118lbs. Did loose an 1/2inch in thighs down to 19" was 22" when I started at 12weeks. If I dont loose anything this week then I will reorganize my diet I think go down to 1800cals a day and maybe add a cardio session on Sat. of 20hiit.

Oh I have question for you ladies. I was told my lats were lacking and that I really need to hit them harder. I was just wondering If you think that to. My hubby says it was just because the lighting was bad that you could not see them well what do you think. I am concerned since that is a major point reduction if they aren't good enough. Maybe I taking that persons point of view to much to heart but I am nervous about that. If they are then I am going to hit them much harder maybe more pullups and chins. Any critism is great I need honest opinions. Thanks.

Yeah I would say that the lats could be built up more, well at least compared to that pic I use to help me find workouts for each muscle group on this site. But that lady is a big time BB too! :D I don't know what those angled muscles in your back are, but those look good! :)

I just noticed your belly ring matches the rhinestone in your suit...too cool!

maybe it was the lighting for your lats, because i have just noticed a v shaped muscle in my mid back that probably wouldn't be picked up on camera? i dunno... I'm no expert on these things :D

need some help ladies with a new back routine since Lats seem to be lacking. I know it may be near to impossible to do anything while trying to diet. Please take a gander at my back routine and let me know what I need to change to get those lats looking better.

I'm not sure if you already do this, AND i'm not sure if it actually works the lats? I don't even know the name for it, but you bend over...holding dumbells, pull up leading with your elbows as far as it can go, then you twist your wrists and pull up more as far as you can go and reverse it back down ...rinse and repeat ... PLUS I don't even know if that actually works the lats....but when I squeeze in that position it feels like that's what it works.

feel free to laugh at me if this is just a lame exercise though, i haven't seen it on any of the sites for videos on how to do exercises so far.

I was researching more back exercises since I plan on doing it tomorrow and ran accross an artical titled "7 best lat moves" and one I found interesting to me, and really liked it, and thought of you ....(i dont' know if you already do it though) One Armed *Arc Dumbell Rows

I practiced it, and it really works my back muscles a *lot more than just pulling the weights up to my chest.

YOU are so inspiring! Okay, so tell us what you do to push through when that quad feels like its going to explode from the burn? Outside of crying/ugly faces, giving in to the pain seems to be my only option(haha) My legs by far are my weakest group, and no matter what I tell myself to blow of the anxiety of a leg day, the burn always wins(ahhhh!!) Ive been given the advice of starting my week off with the hardest areas, but my schedule doesnt allow to do so.

Those are called Bentover rows. I rotate my back workout I use those on the other workout I use. But I do bb ones at 120lbs 3x8. Maybe its time to change routine again and add those in. Thanks though. Yes those do work wonders especially for the mid back.

I always get really in mode and dont even notice the burn anymore. I tell myself over and over that I want to win and be the best. Try thinking that or think of something to motivate you even more.

ah well I figured as much that you'd know it ;) You girls are wayyy ahead of me here ;) So for the other one armed DB bent over rows you've already been pulling the weight up to your hip too? Dang I feel like I've been wasting sooo much time not knowing that simple alteration to that move. I never really felt much of anything simply pulling the weight to my ribcage, except a little bit in my outer ribcage. Man I wish I found this site sooner! :D

yep pull it close to your legs and to hips. make sure to squeeze the lats though. You can also do this on a bench put one knee on the bench and one hand (same sides) and other leg on floor . While holding a db in hand let weight almost touch the ground and pull back up towards hip. This really pulls the lats too.

Okay not sure what back work out I am going to do yet. I will post it later. I did change diet yesterday a little

first 4 meals the same. No post workout shake since I did not work out and for dinner
5ozs of lean pork chops baked
3 tbspn of cheese rice( mouth was watering cooking it for the kids had to try it)
2 cups veggies

No cardio this morning.

Back and bi day will post later.

I know how it is too, wanting to try something I make for my daughter, I got lucky and lately the mac n cheese just isn't appealing to me (i think mainly cuz the last batch i ate was a cheap brand and was really gross)

I think I'm feeling like you too about the bf, I feel bigger and kind of depressed that I can't see much results on the scale, but like you, a pair of shorts that were too tight to wear when I was 10 pounds *lighter , they finaly fit comfortably now! :)

Tomorrow is practice day 30 mins of posing if its nice we may go ahead and get some good pics for this weeks progress.

Had a very busy day today. Did do 25min hiit with abs this morning. Started on my bottle of tight. We will see how it does. I did get on the scale this morning 116lb whoooohooo...Finally broke the 118lb mark. Its leg day I will post later what I do since I have been loosing weight not sure if I can keep the heavy weights. I am going to try to keep them as heavy as norm.

I did do about an 30min cardio session yesterday with my 5 yr old playing chase and hide and seek. Then shopped for 3hours sped walked the whole time get that heart a going.

Yeah, you are definitely my hero! I DREAM of making guys mouths drop when I lift a massive amount of weight, and look like a tiny, thin woman :D
Are you finding it hard to maintain energy levels when you squat so much weight and are still cutting? When you cut for figure, do you usually continue to increase the amount of weight you lift? (haha, even when I don't PM you I ask a 100 questions!!)

No not really I just started taking tight and have not cut cals as of yet that much. I am loosing weight and inches so no need to adjust the cals just yet. Last time I cut I upped the reps and lowered the weight. I am trying something new this time to retain my strength and to see what happens. I am continuing my heavy lifting as usual adding weight and I am going to try to get to 10reps with heavy weights. Just wanted to try this since a good friend of mine said to continue lifting as heavy as I could and to add in cardio and see how my body reacts. Well so far it is working.

Thanks Jenn. Yes i know I need it tested I think it has gone down since those pics. Veins are showing everywhere. I am a very veiny person which would be great if I was bodybuilding(hmmm my try that later this year.). Just with 4 kiddos its so hard to get away on Saturday morning to get it done. Hubby is great during the week to watch them cook for them and take them where they need to be but watch out weekends its me.... I have decided that maybe I should go before work tomorrow or friday.

Is it a requirement for the competition to be a certain level? And if so, do they make everyone use the same method of measuring so there's a better chance of them all having the same accuracy (or at least evenly the same chance of such)?

That's good to hear, SL! The lady doing my nutrition is aiming for 7 to 9% for me and everyone keeps telling me that is way too low for figure. I think with my figure -- which is curvy and I tend to put on weight in the hip area -- that I'd best be seeing around 8% if I want to wear that little outfit on stage. :D

Nice job on the shoulders!

Went and did 20min hiit and tanned this morning. I have started to love cardio since finding the 20min hiit sessions. It really gets my day going. The tight I started this week is great. No jitters just plain energy for the day. I have been taking it around 5am and go to gym around 545am to do cardio whew what a work out. Funny things is I still have enough energy to do my evening weights. Boy those cleans have my traps screaming at me havent felt that in a while.

Sorry no pics yet I suck I know but today its 8weeks out. Tomorrow I will drag hubby outside and make him take some progress pics. I can really see some changes. The cuts in arms are coming out really well so are the abs.

I am getting so excited...got the entry form and sending in this weekend so no backing out then. I am going to rent my one piece this time. Shannon Meteraud (pro figure) and her husband own a gym close to where I live and they rent suits. My one piece I just dont like so instead of buying another it more cost condusive for me to rent one for 25.00.

I will atleast get some good walking in and I am going to pack my meals so no binging....

Tomorrow is usually the day I rest and do posing but I will have to do a wo. Since next thrus I am having some major work done at the dentist and that is going to screw up the week. So next week I am planning on working out Sunday, Monday, off tues, Wed, Thrus morning cardio, off fri, Sat....

Added one more day of cardio up to 4 days 3 being hiit 20mins and one 30-35min mod. int. wont change diet until 6 weeks. Thats when diary and breads come out....that is when it get interesting.

Yeah it freaks me out when I lift what I do. The guys at the gym always tell new guys that not to mess with me she will kick your a$* and they laugh until they see me squat more than them.... It has taken 3 years to get to the power I have and I do alot of strength training. Like pausing on the last reps of last set for atleast 10sec and go pretty slow for the burn.


Okay this morning I did some hammy work some sldls 105lbs 3x8, leg curls 70lbs 3x10. For cardio which imo kicked me so hard thought I was going to puke, I did the seated row machine on the hardest level(didnt know till after I was done). I have never had cardio workout like that. Good god gurdy. That was something else, my glutes were burning so bad I wanted to stop. I didnt though did hiit on that for 20mins rowed almost a mile at 36spm to 40spm at times...I will incorporate this into my routine from now on. No workout this evening.

Didnt realize it was at 10 till I was done. The gym owner was like woman you should be on the floor passed out. I knew that it felt like I was rowing my arse off literally sweat everywhere. When I was done I felt like I had been hit by a freight train.loll.

Didnt realize it was at 10 till I was done. The gym owner was like woman you should be on the floor passed out. I knew that it felt like I was rowing my arse off literally sweat everywhere. When I was done I felt like I had been hit by a freight train.loll.

I had a wonderful weekend...relaxing too. I hope everyone had a great weekend.
i did 20min hiit the kids went with me and i wore them out...lol I had to slow down for them. Its leg day yeahhh my favorite. Did 20min hiit am and ab work. Tanned also.

Weighed this morning was not impressed. I think it was the ham I ate yesterday its loaded with sodium so extra water today and weigh again tomorrow.


diet is the same until end of this week and then its interesting.

This morning got up and did 20min of stretching and worked my calves 5x15 300lbs standing calf lifts varying the foot placement and 60lbs 5x15 seated calf lifts. Hubby would not do the donkey calf raises at the gym.....He said he would be embarassed sitting on my back ..said it may take away from his manlyness...yeah right 6ft and 195lbs of muscle dont think so....

Started tweeking my diet lowering cals just a bit.
430am take tight, arginine, carnitine w/half protien bar or small bowl of bran about 1/2cup just something to put on stomach before cardio at 600am I do abs at 530am
800am 5 egg whites, 1/2cp bowl of oats made w/1%milk no berries and no glass of milk, supplements fish oil, glutamine, calcuim, glousamine, flax, multi.
1100am 1/2cp oats made with 1scoop protien powder and water.
130pm 4oz tuna, 1cp to 3/4 cp brown rice, 1cup veggies steamed.
415pm prewo shake made with water and 1/2cp ff yogurt 1scp protien
700pm postwo shake made with 1%milk 1scp protien w/glutamine
845pm 4oz chicken with 1.5 cp steamed veggies

I stopped the creatine this week so I am sure I will drop some from just that, since I retain water with that.


Last night changed my leg routine..
squats
wu 1x15 w/bar then
135lbs 1x15
225 4x10 slow movements pausing at the bottom each rep
135lbs 1x15 rep out
hack squat
191bs 3x10 low to ground and slow movements.
triple set presses consisting of low close foot, middle shoulder width foot, and wide high foot placement 176lbs 3x10(for those who dont know triple set is you do all the foot placements as totally 30 reps of one set.)almost passed out from this those will kill ya.
leg ext 60lbs each leg 3x12

I was a cardio queen this morning. 2.6 miles on the stairmaster 30min then I was still pumped so hopped on the treadmill for another 15mins. I also did abs.

I have to do back tonight since my daughter Natalie is performing Thrusday and Friday night. She auditioned for the Sc ballet and got a part in the Cinderella Ballet.So I have to switch my routine for her. I am so proud of her this is her second performance with them. It will look great on here resume when applying for an Arts College.(a little ahead of myself she is 11, but this is what she wants.) I always tell her when it gets to where its no fun anymore to stop.

225 4x10 ? Dang! Impressive... Can I ask how you worked up to that? Were you constantly doing squats? I'm asking because I'll get to the point where I'm increasing my weight, but then after 6-8 weeks I'll swap squats out for something else, but by the time I get back to them I've lost my gains and I have to drop the weight. I'd LOVE to squat 225!

I was doing 270lbs but strength is fading with diet down slowly but surely. For awhile yes that is all I did for 30-45mins then I incorporated leg press then hack. I added 5lbs every other week. Make sure to eat big the day before and the day of.

I noticed earlier in your journal you said you were changing the way you "cut" and this time you were continuing to lift heavy, rather than switching to lower weight, higher reps. How is that coming along for you (Well besides the fact that you are still making gains and can lift a truck). Just trying to decide what route to go for myself....do you think this is getting you better results??

Yes, I think I am getting the results I was looking for. Plus this time I am not a cardio queen. I do cardio but last year at 6weeks out doing a 30-45min cardio 2xday plus 6dayweek. Learned that I burned way to much muscle so you live and learn. I am starting to loose some of my strength but I am not going to give in the lowest I am going to squat is 225 just adding reps...I am set on that.

Oh and I have had so many people come up and say boy your getting ripped just in the last 24hr period. I need to take some more pics to see, since I really dont see it..except my boobs have gone from a full c to small b....oh well...

I have been asked to do our state show by Shannon Meteraud the local pro figure here in sc. Its date is on the week before we move to cali......so not sure if I should. June 4th is the date of show and the movers are going to move us on the 6th and 7th and on the 8th we head to the west coast....So not sure if that will be to much for me or not.

The Ballet was wonderful, my daughter had a blast doing it. I am so proud of her she is so brave. I know its really hard to get in front of 200+people and remember your dance steps.

I have had a very rough weekend. I would post my workout from Friday but forgot what I did and have it written down at home. I will have to find that and post later. I did 20mins hiit on stairs 15mins abs. its leg day so I am sure I will pound it out do to the stress I am under.

Okay I have to vent. Teenagers drive me nuts. Okay Saturday night my hubby and I decided we needed a break from the kids. We went to a local bar and shot darts for 2 hours 7-9pm. In this time we get a call from his 16yr old son stating his 14 yr old daughter is outside in a car with 2 boys. (Note we have rules no door, no friends when we are not home period) So hubby goes to the house and proceeds to interrupt the boys and his daughter. She starts making excuse yatta yatta......He sent her to her room and told her that he would deal out the restriction when he got back from picking me up.Well he had to come back and get me from the bar. During this time(10mins away) she called all of her friends and told them she got the sh*t beat out of her and that her father hit her so hard that she threw up everywhere. They proceeded to tell her to call the police and go to the hospital and to call dss to get out of there. She then said no no I cant do that lets just mess up his new car. Okay her brother called us she hung up and told us to what was going on to hurry up to get home. So hubby and I showed up and all hell broke loose. We ended up staying up till 2am that night. (she acts out like this all the time when she does not get her way she will either pick a fight with her siblings or threaten to kill her self so this was no suprise that she was doing this. yes she goes to pshycologist but half the time she refuses to talk or tells him that she is an angel. None of the less yesterday I asked her if she could even say she was sorry and whatttt did she say. ummm No. I have no remorse for what I did and you should have let my friends come over, I pay rent here too by helping out with the dishes. It took all of me not to knocked the cramp out of her. I told my hubby that I can not do this anymore. He agreed that it was affecting the other 3 kids and our relationship. So he called her mother and told her that we would be sending her daughter when school was finished. Well then it got worse when his daughther knew we were sending her there and would not move to cali with us. So after another long night and morning we have decided it would be in our best interests to drive her to alabama tomorrow.
Please know I really am depressed about giving up but she has taken so much out of me and the other childern suffer. I love childern and hate to ever give up on any of them. But the more I give the more she takes. My own daughters ask what has happened to mommy why are you so angry all the time. I just feel awful that everything I tried blew up in my face. I dont get it, even my mother said she never had problems like this. So much disrespect towards all adults and no remorse. Her brother is nothing like this so I know its not the house I just dont know.

Whewww... thanks for letting me get that out. Sorry for the vent.

Sunshine..... girl I don't know what to tell you. My kids are not at that age yet and I can't comprehend what you are going through. Just wanted to say that my thoughts are with you, I'm sure that is an excrutiating decision to make. You do have to do what is best for the whole family though....her behavior obviously affects the rest of your children and like you said if the 16 yr old son doens't behave this way it's not the household.

i don't have time for a long post, but I gotta say this. You are a terrific mother. I don't even know you personally and I can say that. Any lady that can raise teenagers...two of whom are stepchildren, hold down a job, train for a fitness competition and STILL have time to help little old me and countless others with their routines and diet is one AWESOME LADY :D

I personally am a step-child and i will tell you its hard. its hard being a teenager, and then on top of that, dealing with a step-parent. I did and said a lot of mean, selfish things when I was 15-18 and I feel very bad for the way I acted towards my stepdad (and my mom for that matter!!) it wasn't until I grew up and went to college that I realized how much my stepdad sacrificed for me, and how difficult it was for HIM to take on my mom and two kids that weren't his! Your stepdaughter will one day realize the effort you made and appreciate you so much more. And even if she doesn't ... know that it isn't your fault. Sometimes there are things about people you can't change and you are very right to make sure you consider EVERYONE involved, including your three other children.

I hope that you are feeling better, and that this change will be for the better!! :)

She also stated that I dont have much left to loose for the comp that I am pretty lean. makes me feel great to hear that from a pro figure who knows what they look for.

I havent been in in awhile. Just read the story of home. My sister, seriously, has took my family there and beyond. My parents are very strong, and had the energy to never give up, the had alot of consideration to, but they never left her on her own. I dont know if that was best, because at 25 she is still having cycles of extreme behavior. 10 years later. Now she says she didnt realize how out of control she was. She is somewhat more apologetic, but mostly she blames my parents(dig that!) for too much freedom. For the most part she is more chilled but I PRAY for my niece and nephew, she gets her crap together.

I hope she will know that I tried. She just does not like the rules in my house since I am strict about certain things. Manners, chores, and respecting others space and so on. Her mother is going to give it a try so we will see how long that last. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. She told my oldest daughter she did not want to go and that she should have not done what she did. Well she can not take it back now. She has these outburst of anger about every 2 weeks. And they have influenced the smaller childern in the house to not respect adults to hit others and lie without even blinking and thinking its funny to lie. I could write a book about how all the things that have happened in the past 3 years.

I noticed your post in another journal and saw we were both from SC..i have a question..i use to do alot of cardio..running 6 miles a day 5 days a week..now like you i'm doing more heavy lifting and less cardio..so how many days a week do you do cardio..i was thinking of doing HIIT 3 or 4 days a week and that being the only cardio i do..and lifting 3 days a week..does that sound good...

No dropping of weight at the moment still lingering on 116, but I think the bf has dropped again due to my boobs getting so lost in bras.....lol...and my bubble butt down to 34" from 35.5 2weeks ago.


Cardio this morning 20min hiit rower. 15min abs.Back and bi night will post later.

I had a relaxing weekend. Friday I was fit to be tide so told hubby I had to get away. drove to my friends house an hour away and stayed the whole weekend. I feel so much better I really needed that. MY friend was like your hubby has not called you all weekend. I said well I knew he wouldn't he can handle the kids. She said boy your lucky I can not leave for 20mins and my hubby cann't take it. I just laughed gosh I do love him so. He is so understanding and could see the distress in my face......

I have to gloat a min. I have been hovering around the stair master could not push through the 2.5-2.6mile mark for 20mins. Well this morn I did 3 miles in 20mins....whaooooo....I was so elated....it was so refreshing. I also did abs this morning. Leg night will post later when posting fridays chest and tri.

I can not believe its just a little over 4.5 weeks out yikes....Oh my I got on the scale I know I was retaining quite a bit of water since yesterday I barely got a half gallon and ate the heck out of carbssssss. but scale said I was back to 117.5 errrrr. I will weigh again on wed and we will see. Since I know I look puffy this morning but the veins are protruding pretty well so I think my bf has dropped again.....I get that tested this week so we will see.

Just popping in to say hi!! HIGH FIVE to the 3 mile stairmaster mark!! The stairmaster...to me...is a legalized form of torture. I am so impressed :D

I just think its so sweet and cute what you said about your husband. I am finding out more and more if you don't have someone with you to lean on (or leave the kids with) its about 10X harder to get stuff done ;)

It is getting very difficult to continue the heavy weight loads , but I am not dropping it I refuse. I can tell I have cut all dairy, bread products and now cut my one cup of brown rice down to 1/2 cup and upped the 1 can of tuna to 2 and upped the veggies to 1 1/2 cup per lunch and dinner. Spices are still being used and nooooo salt. I have added a calcuim supplement and potassium supplement. Will start practicing posing 2 times a week for atleast 30 mins. I have upped my tanning sessions to 3 times a week. This is were I usually become unbearable at home since I get in game mode all the way.

Yahooo... I knew the scale was wrong on Monday. Darn water gain. This
morning down to 114.5...Took measurements this morning they are as follows
chest 33; waist 25.5, hips 34.5, thighs 20, quads 19 calves 12.5, bis 11.5. So they are dropping in the right places. I can tell the Bf is low due to separations and you can actually see the seratus(spelling) muscles along with abs (which I counted looks like 8 little pads.....whew the hard work is paying off). Yes I know pictures are needed. Just my family life right now is so crazyyyyyy. So I will try to get some soon.
Bf will be tested at 630am friday.

Wheew was tired this morning not because of kiddos but because of my CAT!!!!!!! Wouldn't you know it I let him in while I was getting ready for bed he gets in my bed. Wet and sandy I tell ya. I was unaware and climbed in SAND everywhere. I had to wake the hubby 10:00 and remake the bed or I would not have been able to sleep. Then I was not tired so I laid there for awhile wide eyed and bushy tail.

Did cardio this am 20min hiit 3.03miles stairmaster yahoo. I can tell that I am cutting cals now I am sooooo tired at the end of the day. But I am almost there so that will get me through.

Oh bought tickets to the Jr. USA National show in Charleston. Saturday night is the show. I am so excited I can bearly stand it. I am going to get some great signatures while there and do some rep work for meeeee...See if I get any bites on sponsors.

Well went got bf tested this morning. 15% which is higher than last time. The reason why is due to her miscalculation. She divided wrong so here is the last month of measurements

3/19/05
tricep= 23.5mm
supra=20
thigh=12.5
bf=23.2 first calculation was 13%

3/31/05
tri=21
supra=19.5
thigh=12
bf=21 first calculation was 11%

4/15/05
triceps=19
supra=6
thigh=12
bf=15

Please check these for me since she messed up. I have lost only 2 pounds during these so that is good that I am not loosing lean mass.

and your second one was 22.1

they say about 3 pounds for every bodyfat percentage so that would mean you'd need to drop about 15 pounds. definetly possible if you are planning on dropping your water intake which i'm sure you are.

i'm not a huge believer in bf tests. i think they are very innacurate. i don't know how you could only drop 1 pound but 6% points. did you change your water intake for your last show? i know i usually drop almost 8 pounds that last week when i cut my water intake.

I think I dropped due to not taking creatine in 2 weeks and since that holds water on you that could be the issue. I am still lifting as heavy as possible and still building muscle which could be why my weight is not moving. I am loosing though around .5 pound a week I started out at 130lbs from bulking and now down to 114. I did some research on what your saying I believe you can loose bf without loosing much weight. Here is an article on it:

If you have a lot to lose the answer is yes but sometimes fat loss will outpace weightloss because you will be building muscle at a faster pace and muscle weighs more than fat. At this time it's important to focus more on body fat and inches lost rather than a number on the scale. If you have less than 10 pounds to lose the number on the scale may not budge at all and you will have to come to terms with the fact that muscle weighs more than fat. If you're losing inches and you've gone from a size 10 to a size 6 that should tell you that you're making great progress. If you still find it difficult to accept that the number on the scale isn't budging even if you are getting smaller take a picture and see for yourself how much better you look. Mirrors are very deceiving and sometimes a picture can show you how you really look. Another thing to consider is that weight fluctates from 2-10 lb a month depending on what time of month it is and what you've eaten so keep that in mind when you're having a bad weight day.

This article offers a definition of good body composition and gives guidelines on how to evaluate your own body makeup—professionally or at home.

What Comprises a Lean Body?

It is a myth that low scale weight automatically means lean. The world of dieters is filled with what I refer to as “skinny fat people,” those who have managed to reduce their scale weight considerably through calorically-deprived weight loss programs but at the sacrifice of lean muscle.

The body requires a basic amount of calories every day to repair and maintain lean tissue and to keep one’s metabolism efficient at burning fat. When a person is eating the correct type and amount of protein, fat, and carbohydrate daily to support their metabolism, they will drop body fat and build and maintain a healthy percentage of lean muscle, even if they are overweight to begin with.

When a person is eating too few calories to repair lean tissue and support metabolic function, the body will have to get its energy sources from somewhere—it will literally cannibalize its own muscle tissue to feed and repair itself. A person will lose scale weight on this type of diet, but it will be the wrong kind of weight. So, instead of being firm and svelte, these individuals will look flabby and gaunt.

The correct definition of having a lean body is how much you weigh per square inch. A pound of fat is three times the volume of a pound of lean tissue. Muscle tissue is very dense and compact. So, you could literally lose five pounds of body fat and gain five pounds of lean tissue and have a much leaner and tighter body with no scale weight differential at all!

If you are already very muscular, and you just want lose a little body fat, then a fat loss program that includes regular cardiovascular activity and weight training is perfect for you. The best way to get ripped and maintain as much muscle as you can is to diet slowly. The truth is, when you are on a low calorie diet, your body prefers to use muscle tissue for fuel rather than excess body fat. So, the slower you lose weight, the more likely you are losing fat and not muscle.

Ideally, you should aim to lose no more than 1lb - 1.5 lbs per week that's it. If you are obese, then you should try to lose no more than 1% of your bodyweight per week. Any more than that and you are sacrificing muscle.

Please dont think I am being harsh I just think you can loose bf and retain your muscle mass if done correctly. If I loose 15lbs as you stated that will compute to almost 5lbs a week till my competition and that is going to jeopordize my muscle which I am not going to do. Like stated before it is unhealthy to loose weight like that.....I have done that before and will not go down that road again.

The picture with Tammy Tucker she made pro bodybuilder last year. She is such a sweetheart. I look at her pic in my gym every morning working out. We talked about what I needed to do when I get to Cali. and to keep in touch. She is the promoter for the show I am doing in May so I smoozed a little with her....smiles

The picture with Adela Pro fitness. She also is a sweety she performed last night. OMG ......wonderful....jaw dropping performace.

We did get a pic of the overall lineup. Class A-D the girl farthest to right got overall She kicked ass and was so freaking talllll.
It was a great show all in all. The Bodybuilders were so hugeeeee. We got alot of free goodies too.

i agree with the article and what you said about being able to drop bf without losing a large amount of weight since it is what is happening to my body this time around. i weigh about 135 right now and am in size 2 jeans, last year i was in a size 2 at a weight of 125. obviously my body has changed and gained more mass since i weigh more by the scale, but i'm not sure about the number % of my lean body mass and composition. i apologize for my babbling and please just ignore me if i'm not making sense. i'm 3 weeks out from my show and most of the time even if i know what i mean i just can't get it to come out right. looks like you had a great time at the show!

This work out was the toughest due to me cutting. I didn't think I could lift heavy but I did anyway since I am determined not to drop weight on squats.
Yesterday I switched meal 2 from protien mixed with oats to 4oz chicken with 1 cup stemmed veggies. Boy I was tired last night.

Took measurements again this morning. Last weeks measures chest 33; waist 25.5, hips 34.5, thighs 20, quads 19 calves 12.5, bis 11.5.Lost a half inch in thighs and waist yahoo. and a half pound in weight.

wooooooooooooooooow, narrow stance squats at 135..thats like 10lbs heavier than my heaviest lift...and that sure as heck wasn't easy. 25.5" waist?! yahoo is right!!!!!!!! keep lifting heavy sheri, you can do it!!! I remember someone's wise words "its you against the weights" ;) so get angry, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

This is what I hate about loosing bf. I noticed in the mirror that my pecs are bigger than my actual BOOBS....yikes. Well its sort of good ya know means I made progress on pec muscles just dispointing. Since when before I had kids I had nice 36d's.......now after breastfeeding and loosing bf they are struggling to fill my c's........

I have little boobies too, much smaller than your C cup...but I understand what you mean about losing their size! When I was painting up for my competition I did in November...the tan stuff, you know, I was noticing like litte stretch marks in my Barely B's...I'm like, um, WHAT???! You have got to be kidding me...guess I lost more weight there than Ithought I did!

uh, I totally second powells...a push up bra and a roll of toilet paper couldn't give me the illusion of D's!!!!!!!!!!! but I can sort of understand what you're talking about. As a result of bulking my boobs have gotten bigger and I'm surprised at how much I enjoy them. Now that I'm doing cardio and cutting, I wonder when they'll dissapear...;)

My attitude - P'ah!! Boobies just get in the way anyway!!! How would you bench and run and do front squats and cleans if you had what amounts to great globs of fat hanging around in the way!!!??

I'm a creative B...I think they look bigger because I have pecs & my ribcage is really wide anyway. As I'm losing weight, I'm sure they'll disappear. :( Not really looking forward to it, but honestly, I'd rather have abs.

You don't need big boobs, they really are just excess. Look at...oh heck, anyone in Hollywood. No big boobies. Especially on the actions stars -- look at Jennifer Garner. That's a B if I ever saw one. :D

smaller boobs are a small price to pay for greatness.

I am getting so pumped about the show my one piece will be here tomorrow. So I will gets some pics for ya. I am also getting excited about moving to Cali....its going to be rough at first but I have planned to keep the kids busy doing things and see places while hubby is gone out to sea.....(so I dont feel so depressed about him being gone gotta stay busy to pass the time. I just looked at the calendar and I am tomorrow 3 weeksssssss out.....yikes..... I know I will be ready but its still nerve racking that its so close. I will practice posing tonight too during survivor...

I may change my diet again. I am thinking of next week I will sub my carbs with veggies. Instead of eating a bowl of plain oats with my 6 egg whites I am going to try to replace with veggies. Just to get the last bit of bf down. The last week before comp May 7 I will do a carb and soduim load and depletion. Its crunch time really now so forgive me if I get forgetful or angry. I cant believe I am doing a comp and moving at the same time. I have already planned to order pizza before the show and have it waiting on me when I get back from the show. My lord I will probably eat only one piece and pass out.


And just when I thought it was getting hectic, the owners of the dealership where I work annouce last week they have sold the business..... The new owners take over on May 2 that is 11 days before my comp. I hope they understand that I need the 13th and 14th off. The old owners knew about this way long ago. I am so worried about being let go a month before I leave. I need the last month of pay since I have been saving every penny for a nest egg for the move to cali. Since I dont know how long it will take to find a job. I am sure we will be okay finacially but I dont like not knowing that I dont have sercurity there in case of a emergency. I am sure we will get through. Thank goodness the military is paying for the moving expenses or we wouldnt be moving.
