One way I know of how whey protein is partially pre-digested is through a lactic acid fermentation process. This makes the protein even more bio-available while virtually eliminating its lactose content.

The long amino changes have already been broken up into shorter chains. This allows the aminos to be absorbed even faster.
Some people think this is a good idea, but personally, when you consider how fast whey is absorbed anyway, its not needed.
