Alright, I was planin on startin a journal on my b-day (01/31) but I'll go ahead and start it today.

we do it on the machine because the coaches make us, whenever I lift with the team I do their routine, on tesdays and weekends I go to the gym and do my stuff

oh god bad news, REALLY bad news

In a month I will loose my membership at the gym....that means I can only lift weights 4 days a week(in school for football) argh damn it >_<
and we got this stupid ass routine

the half squat/military things u speak of are called push presses.


just tough it out man and lift with the team. eat a ton and make the best of it.

When you list your dumbells, are you adding both of the dumbells up when you list here? Whe I read this it looks like you're using 70's for dumbell bench which would be much harder than your barbell benches unless your adding the weight of the dumbells together and really using 35's. So what's up with that?

on the dumbell bench I use a 70 pound dumbell in each hand, and on the normal barbell benching I do 155-185lbs, on that benchin on that day I just felt like benching some light weight for fun ;)

put some plates or some **** under the incline bench to prop it back.

i dont know how anybody does leg presses.

if i go deep my ass comes up and back rounds and my head feels like its gonna explode.

but if i dont go deep they suck :)

ill never touch a leg press machine again

cause of $$ problems, it's a really long story anyways
in football we stoped liftin and starte spring practice, and I can only get my membership back in june or july, so that's 3 months with no lifting, I decided to use these 3 months and try to cut down until about 15% bodyfat, if that goes easy I'll cut down even more

omg I'm so mad, and embarassed too

ok So i came to practice today, and there were 12 people there....on the first day of practice we handed out equipment for 40 people, and out of 40 12 of them show up! This is fukin bull****

and the coach thanked us for coming and told us that we're canceling ALL practice cause not enough ppl show up, we'll start practice again on July....but we'll have weightliftin once spring break starts, and then we'll lift 4 days a week

When he said he's cancelin practice I thought he meant weight liftin as well, I was ready to just drop all my **** and leave...but when he said we'll lift weights I was reliefed


****in lazy ass ppl, get a little headache from football and dont show up, wtf ITS FUKIN FOOTBALL

if they aren't gonna play, what's the point of acting like it? I'm no athlete, so I don't pretend to be. I bitched out of sports, but at least I had the consideration to talk to my coaches and tell them it isn't for me.

All my friends play sports and I know if something like that happened the coaches would go ballistic on everyone. lol At least you had the decency(sp?) to show up.

Just keep your lifting going. :)

its going to take that long to only get 50 pounds more on that for your goal ?
i mean im not as strong as u guys where the most ive deadlifted was at 255 x 6 reps.
ive never maxed dead lift.
i just started getting serious with deadlifts and have went from 135 to this 255 x 6 reps in like 2 months where im always adding 10 pounds or more a week on it.
i guess once u hit 300 and above its tougher right?

well i was just wondering if once u get into the heavier weights that ur gains take longer.

and ya since ur 375 right now im pretty sure ull get ur max of 405 pretty soon.

ya man for sure you'll get that 405 max pretty soon. i would guess at least 450 by 2006 for u.

and just keep getting stronger on the delts and tri's you'll get ur bench up soon. good luck!

after a few bench workouts ull be back up to where you were, 185x4 is 2 bad after ur inclines and the curls tired u out also. dont sweat it sir

Very good job on the deads, they look really heavy. Db-shrugs look ok, but you can probably pull alot more.

Watch out man, there might be small green men in the lat pulldown machine. If you bring a hair dryer to the gym and use it on your hands you will be OK. ;)

Squats used to hurt my knees too man. Are you sure you got the right technique? Your knee should never pass over your toes.

Anyways good bench work, everything looked solid for the volume you did.

Nice workout- even if that 2nd set of 205x4 was hard, if you had to gut it out, those are the good sets.

Some questions for you- why do you do the DB press after pushdowns? Thats a lot of volume on the pushdowns and the DB press is a lot of triceps too. You should do the pushdowns last.

How much rest between your heavy bench sets? Take as long as you need to feel recovered. Not so long you cool down, but allow your heart rate and breathing to become normal and allow your muscles to not feel fatigued.

Why do you start your warmups at 135x10? You are using a hefty % of your work sets for a good number of reps as a 1st warmup. If you start lighter, like bar x15, 95x10, 135x5, 185x3 then hit your work sets I bet you'll find that not only is the 205 easier, but you could do more weight for the same reps, maybe 215 or so. Let your warmups be warmups and let your work sets be work sets. That was one of the most important things I learned and one of the most helpful things to get my lifts progressing. You are doing a good number of reps of fairly heavy weight (185x2x5) before you even get to your work sets.

Why do you start over at 135 on the inclines? You should already be warmed up. Do a couple reps with 135 just to adjust to the groove of the inclines and then hit your work sets. Again, you can probably go heavier if you adjust the volume on your lighter sets.

Nice workout ILM, very cardio intensive!

Reminded me of a 'medley' I used to do for cardio:
squats - clean and press - high pulls - bent o rows - deadlifts - shrugs, all reps of ten, one exercise after another without letting go of the bar, with 115lbs. That was done a couple of times through, and got me puffing a bit.

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Dang man, thats some killer volume! Good work! What is the reason for all the sets at 185 and then jumping up? Work heavier- use 1 set of 185 as a last warmup and then kill the heavier stuff, thats what gets you bigger and stronger! If you changed your warmups around you'd be repping 215 for your work sets no problem.

I have no idea man, I'm definently not a bodybuilder since I'm like 20% bodyfat, I just lift to be big and strong cause I plan on being a police officer or fireman since I'm not going to college

Nice lifting. You might have to go to college to be a police officer though. I want to be a police officer too and throughout my whole state at least that I know of you have to have 2 years of college (60 credit hours). Don't think you have to go to college to be a fireman though.

I am on a routine, but I couldnt follow it this week because my knee was really hurting from basketball :(

slow down there. Probly just a bad day. I had one today also. My normal max is 260, but 225 was kicking my ass after one rep. It happens.

Just make sure you come back next time and show the weight who's boss. :D

u seem to be a lot like me, anytime i take a lil break where people say that may make u stronger, for me it makes me lose practically 1/3 of my strength.
the more i train the better.
Just try and avoid those kinds of breaks at all times.

u not only need to warmup, but u need to acclimate ur body to the weight.
