Shaving my pubes question

I'm about to compete in this thing and i'm gonna need to do a split. I havent cut my pubic hair in 27 years and currently have it in a ponytail. I was wondering if i should cut it down a little bit or will it even flap out of my shorts when i split?

You put your pubic hair in a ponytail?? How did you do that?? I got my 3 hemorrhoids tied in a braid, but I can't seem to get my pubs long enough to put them in a ponytail. My best effort has been a mullet. :D
