92 - miss

C&J

110 - missed clean (first time ever)
110 - miss, pressout
111 - 2 white lights http://media.putfile.com/Clean-and-Jerk-111

Doesn't get any closer than that. That was the toughest circumstances I've been in. It was 90 degrees and humid. The meet was not very organized, so it took almost 4 hours from the start of the snatches to the end of the jerk, just for this session. There was no display or printout of how many lifters or their attempts, no one even writing it on a board. I think I was just worn down by the C&J. I did break 200 which was my first priority, so it was a success.

Awesome work man!

Thanks a lot for the vids

Great lifting, spectacular considering the circumstances. Looks like the ballsy openers were a good idea!

Good job.

How did you miss the first clean?

Ibanez - Thanks. It was in Sacramento. That's where he grew up.

JLC - Thanks man. For a few minutes the opener seemed like a very bad idea.

newlevel - Good luck. It's a lot of fun.

Arlecchino - Thanks. I just wasn't focused. I left my shorts on, and didn't see them until I was on the platform. So I took them off and had to rush my setup. I caught it too far forward, and had to dump it.

I ask because in the clip you had it looked like you rounded slightly at the bottom of your clean, and wondered if you occasionally caught them out in front?

I think you are right. I looked at the videos in slow mo and the bar is not close to me at full extension. Something to work on.

I did not want to sound like I was bashing you, especially given the fact that I cannot currently clean worth a damn. However, it does look like you could pull under the bar a bit more. Or keep it closer. Or both.

I actually always cleaned with the bar a bit farther away than most, but I always had pulling power to spare, and this actually gave me a bit more time to pull under, as my rack is not that great. I always either made or missed the lift depending on if I could properly rack it or not.

Thanks guys. I've taken the clean for granted because it is stronger than the jerk. I'm going to work on it though.

Here is the full results. My name is Matt Erdman.

Good job.

'nother question. (I am good at questions, sometimes suck at the answer part):

Why don't you split under the bar on the jerk?

he's doing a power jerk, he splits his feet slighter wider to the side, like a push press but with a slight dip downward to lockout the bar.

I also power jerk, I feel much more stable doing it than the split jerk. That probably sounds dumb to some but I like it.

I know what he is doing, just wondered why.

I was doing the spilt jerk for over a year. When I tried the power jerk, I could do the same amount of weight, but I felt more stable. I've been working on dipping under the bar more when I catch it. The problem right now is flexibility.

Ever do overhead split squats with a clean grip?

Nice lifts how long have you been olympic lifting?

raffiki

Arlecchino - No. I do overhead squats with 95lbs using a clean grip and barefoot, as a warmup. It's tough. I am still too tight to be comfortable with that.

Ape - I've been training myself for about 2 years now. I started competing January of this year.

I have been training the olympic lifts for about the same time but usually in 2 month cycles then i go back to powerlifting. They are my fav. lifts, except for the deadlift. It is just sweet holding a huge weight over your head.
