Hey,
I don't normally post over here, as I am natural bodybuilder myself, but my girlfriend wants to get into figure competition and is looking for some good websites that are full of useful information on posing, suits, ect. I can guide her through the dieting and such, but do not know where to begin in regards to suits, tricks the figure girls use, ect...
Anybody know of any??? I have been looking around this site and there is a little stuff here and there, but short of the forums, nothing great in the area of figure...
thanks
Sean

thanks for the sites...anybody else know of any other sites???? The more the better.
I think at this point the biggest concern is finding a suit that fits her well. Also, the posing is different, so any tips in regards to that would be great.

All I can tell you is research research research!! Here are just a few of suit manufactures that I have found:
http://www.jagware-posingsuits.com/ - they have one of the best selections but give them PLENTY of time
http://www.cynthia-james.com/ - this is who I used last time and she is awesome!!
http://www.merrychristine.com/ - this is who alot of the pros use but she's VERY expensive

As far as info on competing I have found good information here on bodybuilding.com, monicabrant.com has great information also.
I would also look at pictures on ironman.com or flex.com at the pro figure competitions, see what suits those girls are wearing to figure out what suits your girlfriend will like, there are ALOT Of different kinds out there. Also study those pictures for posing. Those are the best girls to learn from and then practice in your mirrors at home ALL the time. The more practice she does the more natural it will look on stage.
Good Luck!!!

I have lots of info about competing in fitness and figure on my web site. My members area includes both training and nutrition programs that I and my personal training clients have had a lot of success with as well as a posing guide to demonstrate the mandatory poses.
If you have any specific questions, you can also drop me a note...
Good luck!

I know the www.suitsyouswimwear.com has posing suits and they are in Florida. I can't remember where, but you can check ou their website and it'll tell you. I ordered my figure comp suits from them and they did a great job.

thanks for all the responses...this has been a great help.
She bought one suit from bodybuilding.com, to use as a practice suit/backup.
She bought her contest suit from www.suitsyouswimwear.com. It was a hard call for her, she found a lot of suits she really liked...I think it boiled down to cost more than anything though...this is her first show and until she decides whether or not she is in it for the long run, it seems wiser to not drop hundreds on a suit...
Time will tell if she likes them...contest is May 14th in Des Moines, its the NANBF Natural Iowa/Central Midwest Bodybuilding, Xtreme Fit and Figure Championships. Wish her luck!!!

Tamee,
Your client will love the show. The Natural Iowa show is one of the best ones around. The promoters do an absolutely fantastic job and it always has strong competition. I competed last year and had the time of my life. I will not be there this year, as I have a scheduling conflict(hence me not competing)...but Beth will there. She is competing in both the Natural Iowa division and the Central Midwest Novice. We are assuming she will be in the short class, but she may get put in the medium class...it just depends on the how many people enter.
Good luck to your client!!!

Try Tamara Oakley from Bikini Guru. She is awesome. By discussing your girlfriends needs in regards to suits, Tamara can tell you which style suit will be more beneficial for her. She is a very caring person and I trust her 100% with my suit needs every time!
