is it ok if you do a 20 - 30 min cardio session in the morning right after you wake up, to burn body fat, and then have your breakfast and then you snack and then weight train then have lunch ? is that ok or will it start burning muscle? cause i need to cut down on some body fat to get ripped out.

yep....keep it to about 20 minutes of high intensity cardio right when you wake up.
But make sure to get in a breakfast with lots of complex carbs and proteins shortly after

I think that is fine. To lose fat make it high intensity cardio.

I must disagree with this statement. You will burn fat even if the intensity is not high. Let it be moderate. When you're heart rate raises above it's base line (which is while doing cardio), what do you think will happen? Fat burning process will kick in.
A really good way to do cardio workout would be to start with low intensity and end up with high intensity.

I agree with Phatecoder - it can actually be a lower or higher intensity cardio session; one of the key tips I hear is that the cardio is done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, and try not to eat for appx 1 hour thereafter (if weight loss is the objective). I also hear/read that the cardio should be done for a minimum of 20 mins, but I wouldn't exceed beyond 30 mins as a whole (some people think more is better - I don't; stay within the 20-30 min range). As far as weights, definitely eat before your weight training session - I get really "flat" if I do not fuel up before weight training. Another thing I noticed is that if I do not eat correctly for the weights, I being to smell "amonia." On researching this, I found that it means I am burning up muscle tissue. Hope this helps...=O)

Yes, the smell is strong enough to be annoying. Of note, it is not the "body" that has this smell but rather something you smell in your nostrils (I know, sounds dumb...). This had been happening for a number of years with me (not consistent, but cyclic - like when I do my heavier training days). I had asked around as to what this could be related to, and finally found the answer - that it was the result of muscle tissue breaking down. This information was found thru searching a number of search engines on the web. I changed my eating pattern (type, amount and timing), and watched for over-training. I have not had the "amnonia smell" since doing this.

True....I didn't mean that you wouldn't burn any fat while doing lower intensity cardio. I was just stating that you will burn more fat overall if you do high intensity cardio.

I would like some suggestions on a cardio program for my cutting phase that will burn fat with minimal muscle loss.
I do weights in the morning followed by 20 minutes moderate intensity cardio. For my cutting phase I will be adding another 20 minutes of cardio in the evening and doing HIT on 2 of my non weight training days for 20-30minutes.
My main question would be, is what TYPE of cardio should I be doing on my weight training days? Should it be interval training? just moderate? steady state? or what?
Please and thank-youuuuuu!
