View Full Version : Do woman only care about the upper body???

The reason I am asking because I have met a lot of guys so far that goes to the gym and only works one part....yep, you guessed...the upper body part.
I can seriously count on my fingers the amount of guys I have seen in my gym doing : squats, leg extensions, leg curls, calves raises, leg presses or any other type of lower body exercises.
I asked around and this guy told me...which my cousin that does the same thing agrees with : Girls don't care about your legs...they only care about the chest, arms and abs. So when they come to the gym they only concentrate on that.
And now I see why that the bench presses are always busy while the squat rack are empty...Actually I take that back. On more than a few occasions I have seens guys doing barbell curls in the squat rack.
Now girls/woman of the misc...Do you want your man proportionate all over or seriously you only care about the upper body???
I have seen my share at the gym...those guys pumping their chest up and flexing their arms for the ladies than I look down....chicken legs :o
So all comments are welcome :D

Seriously, work the lower body, chicken legs=not hot IMO. I don't understand why on Earth guys do that...It makes no sense, I love legs, especially solid legs, it all has to fit, proportion really is key.

I don't understand why on Earth guys do that...It makes no sense, .
That is what I am trying to understand.
I have been at my new gym for close to 3 months now and seriously...the woman are the only ones that do lower part.
Actually it is kinds funny...the guys concentrate heavily on upper body
The woman concentrate heavily on cardio and lower body
The people at my gym need some schooling!

I don't know because it seemed that I missed the memo.
Some guys consider cardio as leg workout.
Now can you woman help pass along the you like your man to have a lower body to match the top...
This way some of them would actually start working that part.
The view is quite upsetting.....and I am straight

Lucky you...or lucky him...Whichever way it goes ;)
So why? If both woman that posted said that they love well proportionate bodies with a nice pair of legs attached to it...why to teenagers, guys in their 20's up to 40's keep concentrating on one part and forget the other.
And the usual reason is : Woman only care about the uper body!
So are you woman to blame?

IMO,
1) Developing an excellent set of legs takes a lot of dedication and an impressive threshold for pain. Bicep warriors usually don't have either one.
2) It's hard to show off legs unless you are wearing these (http://www.kenston.k12.oh.us/khs/tplookalike_new/dangle_reno911.jpg).
..so basically, for most people training legs is simply "not worth it".

Realistically the upper body is at eye level so it will be the first thing you notice most likely but proportion has always been something I have noticed, whether the guy is big or small, skinny or big proportion is still important

Before i got into bodybuilding I STILL didn't like chicken legs!! i HATED seeing guys with a wide chest and little twigs for legs!! there used to be a guy on campus and we used to call him lil T because he was shaped like a "T"
Wide chest, wide lats (back then i didn't know what lats were), but the tiniest legs in town!!
When did we see his legs? in the hotter months where it just got too hot to wear jeans all the time. Those commercial lifters never think about THAT. Or how getting a beach body means you'll be walking around a beach with your LEGS exposed!!

Hey Matt, how you doing. Good to see your still at it. My legs are huge too, but it was from years of hockey and lifting. I keep trying to tone them down as my legs grow faster than upper. It becomes a pain after a while, always trying to get bigger up top and tone down the legs.

That's what dufuses tell themselves that women want. Why? Because lower body work is HARD WORK, and it's far easier to make excuses than to actually perform the work.
Also, don't take advice from guys who workout just to get women... take advice from guys who workout for the sake of the sport and to improve themselves for their own sake. Improvement should be proportional... lack of balance is very noticeable.

I look at the whole package. Chicken legs are ridiculous looking.
I do calf raises on the leg press machine when I am working my legs. I put the front half of my foot only on the sled and raise the sled with the same weights as I lift with my whole legs 3x12. Don't know if that is a proper exercise, but, I really get good results with it.

One of the things that attracts me most to my man is his lower body: manly, but well-maintained feet, nice calves, great hams and quads and an ass that defies description.
As for chicken legs, the only time I want them is with some barbecue sauce right off the grill.

pffft, big penises are overrated imo. You can't hit the right spots if you have to stay backed off, you know what I mean?
Size is definitely a varied opinion, but, smaller guys are just as loved as large guys. When they say couples are the perfect fit, they mean that in more ways than one ;) JMHO

My boyfriend is a year younger than me, and at 23 he is incredibly focused on his diet and training goals. Actually, I think he is just one of those rare finds - but they're out there!
I really think it takes a certain type of personality to live this lifestyle, and you either got it or you don't - age doesn't really matter, because sooner or later the ones doing it for the chicks grow up, get married, and realize that their motivation for staying fit and muscular is gone. I've seen many once-fit guys turn to flab once they decided to "settle down"!

No... I stopped working them for a while because of a lower back injury and never really got back into it with the same gusto.
Funny story... it turns out if you overbalance forward in a squat, you shouldn't 'try and save it' by turning said squat into a bastardised good morning... just let the weight hit the spot bars. I have since been informed that 440lb has not, nor ever will be, considered a 'warm up' good morning. And also that it shouldn't have been my 3rd warmup set.
I think calling it muscle is kind of an exxageration... I was [am] quite pudgy. I don't have pictures though... honestly, cameras kind of frighten me. Hm... to give a mental idea though... almost no hamstrings, big calves, big quads, and a J.Lo ass...
Actually, thinking back, I'm kind of glad I got that injury.

Very true, happens to alot of people. But it makes sense, the ones that do it for the ladies lose motivation when they find the one they hold on to. Thats sad. Hey, I realize I'm a day late and a dollar short but I wanted to add my two cents. The woman that only care about the upper body are the shallow ones. They only care about what other people will notice and oh look at what my mans got. The ones that really care...they want their man healthy all over. Personally I like all the leg muscles and a well defined bum but I guess it comes down to personal preference.

It's shallow to describe personal preferences, because it's not just the body but the whole package including personality, shared values, etc.
But on that shallow note, I don't like that big puffed up arms/chest look. I don't think that bigger is better.
I like skinny guys. Or something in between skinny and built, like one of the guys in the fitness magazines.
If a guy is going to work on his body, he should work the whole thing, not just the upper part.

Ever since I was a pre-teen in middle school, I've ALWAYS had a thing for well-developed calves; even up to this day. There's also nothing sexier than a man with squat butt. It's nice to grab on, especially for maneuvering.

and yet you read all three pages, and felt compelled to post an opinion off topic? That's... that's super, really.
I asked a few girls in my class 2 years ago what they liked on a man's body; ass and abs, lol (ass came first)!!
They liked the squatbutt, they also wanted to know how I got mine :p

just getting sick/fed up of all the nonsense and bull**** that goes on in these forums. No not the misc piitb no homo nonsense. Im talking about the company reps who are all ****ing tools, with nothing to show (granted a FEW actually have physiques representative of the actual BBing lifestyle). Also all the ****ty information being passed on day after day, when companies could give a **** all they see are dollar signs, not people.
As im typing this i opened up another browser to quote some things and clicked supplement company promo, to find this, another perfect example.

And as for this thread, reading some of the replies, you have adolescent males in here thriving off sexual inuendos, a 300lb dude talking about leg definition (not ron coleman), saying he will post a towel pic, no one wants to see that ****. and like 8 women in this thread saying how they dont like bird legs, whom maybe 2 have room to talk. The fact that the outside world exists ever occur to anyone, and MAYBE there is life beyond bb.com?
Just some angst ive been having over the past week or so, I dunno if I'll be around these boards much longer.

Then take a break from the board? You do have 5,000 posts since Febuary...so take a break. I understand...I mean I have to take breaks from nutrition forum or I would go inane. I enjoy the nonsense posts because they are just that, nosense. Just post in your logs and **** the rest! :)

Proportion, proportion, proportion! Chicken legs are gross!

All women like different things... you cant stereotype one type of guy that EVERYONE likes.
and no, women dont ONLY care about upper body.
hey i see that a lot of military guys dont work their legs as much. on more than one forum i have noticed bigger bench stats than dead and squat. my friend in the Corps doesnt work legs.
is it becuase you guys on ur feet all the time, do alot of running, or just workout with the little energy you have left to improve ego and relieve stress...or possibly a combination of many things?

yeah i get occasional annoyance thresholds as well. Just take a hiatus from the boards or from certain sub-forums. I've done three, five month hiatuses along with a week or two here and there. It does wonders for the e-patience, trust me ;)

If you dont like it, then find another site. You dont have to Ronnie Coleman to be proud of what your working your ass off to get. I probably bust my ass in the gym (my garage) a lot harder than you do, but then again I dont know you, or your routine. But I work my ass off, and jsut because im not thin, doesnt mean I cant show off what I work to get. So STFU, and go lift and quit crying.

Umm I believe that no matter how far anyone is along in their weight loss goal we all work our asses off...I don't think it's fair for you to come in here and say something like that...I lift four to five days a week along with cardio, and have a strict diet and even though I am no where near my goal, I can say if I like legs or not and I may not look like I have room to talk but I do, cause I work just as hard as anyone else who actually looks like they workout.
Anyways, I understand your frustration, you should take a break, people can get annoying :) hope you feel better...

So because I weight 300 lb, I shouldn't be talking about legs definition???
So because I am fat...I cannot appreciate what a well define leg look like!
Ok...based on what I may ask
Have you gone to professional bodybuilding contest?
Have you looked at the judges table???
Tell me...all the judges are always fit???
Ignorance will never cease to amaze me ;)
