Hey,

I'm new to this forum and so far in the womens section I get no replies, so maybe here I will.
My name is DeAnna, I'm 23, about 5'8" and about 160lbs.
I am trying to get my weight down to 130lbs or lower.
I want to compete in figure competitions and I need all the help I can get.

I am already in a workout routine and diet but, any advice would be truly appreciated.

Thanks,
DeAnna M.

What do you want advice on, off season diet, workouts, getting ready to compete, competition diets. That's a pretty broad question. I compete on the NPC level. You are about my size. I'm 5"9 and competed at 125lbs this year........ too small!! We should compete in the 135 range.

I guess that was a bit broad, lol.

I want to compete by next year or sooner. I know that is going to be alot of work but I am prepared to do whatever it takes.
My biggest problem is nutrition. I have the basics down but, what else can I eat that won't ruin this for me.
When it comes to working out I just need to know what the judges look for and what areas to focus on.

Pick your date, that's the most important. That gives you a time frame and something to shoot for.

Your in what's called off season then. You need lots of Protein and a good amount of "good carbs". Don't worry about the weight until 12 weeks out from your show. I will eat 2 times your body weight in protein a day (cottage cheese, tuna, chicken, lean hamburger, shakes, fish, etc). Your carbs should come from mixed veggies, oatmeal, any green. Try to eat EVERY 2 hours. Allow yourself 1 good cheat day a week to reward yourself for being so good the rest of the week.

Workouts. Don't worry so much about cardio. You want to build right now. Keep your reps between 8-12 and really push yourself. 12 weeks out start with the cardio but until then it shouldn't be a priority.

Judges like good symmetry, nice round muscles, not too muscular, not too vascular, and no striations. On the regional level they like the girls alot softer. I was beat out this year because I came in too lean and not full enough. But on the national level they like the girls a little more cut.

Email me if you want anymore info, I'm not a expert but I can share with you what's worked for me. TameeMarie@cox.net
