power clean and jerk

In the past I only did the clean portion of the lift in competition so I would catch clean very low and then front squat it because the weight was too heavy to pull to powerclean . Now that im doing the full clean and jerk Im wondering if there is any problem with simply power cleaning semi heavy weights I use when doing full clean and jerks ?, Should I just get myself in the habit of doing deep catches on the clean so incase in the long run I need to lift in that fashion to be as efficient as possible Or simply power clean the weight because my pulling power is far beyone my jerking ability?

I'm in the same boat with you vis a vis clean a lot more than I jerk. I often do powercleans with lighter weights but that's just out of laziness. We need to stop, man!

You should focus alot of your energy working the jerk. You should be doing full cleans in your routine, maybe not always, but definetly some.

If I were you I would get yourself in a squat cage and just do jerks do develop your form.

He just means jerks from the rack inside a power cage. Just walkout like you would with a front squat but jerk it instead. It means you don't have to clean it.

you use some common sense its not to hard to figure out how to do a jerk in a cage, you set it up to be at the right height and then climb in and jerk it...
