I want in too!!! I used to have the Italian AZZ. The one that was like a table at like 180 lbs on a 4'11 body -- goodness me. Those clothes hang off now with a lot of sagginess-- no more table AZZ for me!!! Loving the squats and lunges now. I still have some to go to get it where I want it, but its firmer and higher and did I mention no more table!!!

been a while since I visited this thread. I ve been busy working out, helping my friends move out, hanging out with them, working.......reading stuff on nutrition, trying to lower my bf so i can lose the fat on my cheeks,,,,eeks its so disgusting...plus I m thinking of competing in a figure competiton with phil valentini's help.
Another important thing I noticed is that, WHENEVER I do deadlifts, I get a sore hamstring for sure. Conventional deadlifts kill my legs literally, and I remain sore for longgggg. Its a good feeling. Squats: my form is getting better, but it doesnt make me a whole lot sore on my glutes. Lunges: Makes my glutes sore!!!!!!
Now all I need, is a hot bf who will help me stretch after a niceeeee leg workout LOL..
I cant wait to go to the carribean for med school, but I need a hot body for that :)

Her form was reasonably good but there's a few things she could work on to make it better. If she got her butt down a little lower and used more leg drive, she'd get that 120.
Some people are leg pullers, some are back pullers. Seen Bolton's miss of 1000+? (the recent one, forgive me, I forget the number exactly)... looks nearly like a stiff leg. I think you're right about her though.
I'm sore today and VERY happy. After a six month lay off, I got back into training again two weeks ago and yesterday was my first heavy squat day.
I managed 308 x 10 reps on my heaviest set so I'm pretty happy that I haven't lost that much strength :) Yay :D
Whoa... that's... scary! Very nice work though... I lose all my strength in squat when I take time off... sigh

No... no it isn't... because it's a guy's ass.
Any hints for a newbie on the deadlift? Squats I can do and will do. LOL. I havn't tried the deadlift just yet. I wanted to strengthen my back first. I had it go out when I was 18.
keep your lower back tight, make sure you get your form down pat... and for god's sake, don't 'pull' with your arms, they're just holding the weight. there's no easier way to screw your back than a messed up deadlift (well... maybe a mangled good morning, but still).

I respectfully disagree. This is not a front hack squat. It's a dead lift. If you use too much legs, the targeted areas (hamstrings/lower back) are not hit as much, if at all...not to mention that if your knee is traveling over your toe while you're trying to pull, have somebody call 911 cuz it's just a matter of time.
I would hate to post a vid of my most recent 1RM up here. Quite a hitch on the initial pull.
Edit: Also, would like to enter an application (serious).
The deadlift is as much an art as it is a science. Call it an extra sense but I tend to 'instinctively' pick up on things. That is how I worked when I was PTing clients and it worked wonders (my clients kept coming back for more). I stand by my initial comment that, for the girl in the video, a little more leg drive would help her.

don't get too creative the same day you've had a really good leg day without a solid stretch beforehand - i did that once and ended up with a leg cramp right in the middle of it all! wow was that really awkward. But it was like being on high school sports team...you shake it off and get back in the game! lol

Did my sumo squats yesterday for the first time, along with long, deep walking lunges and I am feeling it today (shifts in chair some more....). :D :D
In the beginning, I don't think I quite believed that squats would have the effect they do, but I think for the first time in my life now, I have an appealing... roundness that was never there before. :D Husband has noticed as well. ;)
Now if I could only get my husband to stay awake and give me that a** massage I need to help out those gluteal doms.... ;)

So I went back into the gym today after being out for about 3 weeks. I feel slightly nauseated.

Well... in my own irrelevant post. I'm back in the gym once more... after a... ohh... 8 week layoff for injuries.
Good god I've never felt so weak... 220 for working set squats, 300 for working set deads. And I'd rather not post the upper body. It's like starting all over again. Inexplicably, my stiff legged deadlift has risen though.

So glad to see a club for the a** to gr** exercise. Imagine my surprise after doing squats, lunges, deadlifts, sumos for months. One day I looked in the mirror and to my surprise...a bubble. Huh?! I exclaimed. Seems dumb, but I thought I was working my hamstrings. I had no idea my rear had this capacity. Now, when I put on my gym clothes, my waistband takes a dip in the back to compensate for my new bestfriend. Is is possible to walk backwards everywhere you go? ....She makes me proud.

OK Procta... booty update. I worked lower body today. I was still a tad sore from the lower body workout two days ago, but since I do different exercises today, I went for it anyhow. I FEEL DA BURN BABY!! :D Every time I bend over to pick something up my glutes and hammies start to tremble! Now that's gonna feel good tomorrow. :D

There's not huge amounts of definition in this pic firstly because I am relaxed and secondly because I am on a mission to get to at least 200 lbs of muscle. The definition will come when I get my arms back to 18 inches (or more hopefully):D

I got to use my new equipment yesterday to do squats... Wait! I haven't bragged on my new stuff! I put in in my body blog, but haven't mentioned it in the forum!
Soooo, hubby gets home the other day and asks if he can give me my Christmas present. I say, no, wait until Christmas. We are going out of town to visit family for Christmas and he says no, that it's too big to take there. He'd rather give it to me now. It was an adustable rack for squats and bench. The bench is seperate from the rack, does incline and decline. It also has attachments for preacher curl, hamstring curl and quad extensions. It's awesome. So, now I can squat and bench away without worrying about having a spotter! Or worrying about only being able to squat as much as I can lift up and over my head. YEAHOOOO! :D
So, I worked legs real good yesterday. This morning, I don't have DOMS, my legs are still feeling weak and wobbly like rubber! I can feel the DOMS just beginning to start. I predict trouble walking when they kick in full force! :p

I usually have DOMS two days after my leg workout. Do you guys workout your legs if it is still in doms state? Or is that a bad idea?
I generally don't train a muscle group again until a couple of days after DOMS has gone away. Having said that, DOMS isn't necessarily an indicator of muscle stimulation. You can get muscle growth without DOMS.

Thanks Titania..I was wondering why my calves never get sore, no matter how hard I train! For me its the hamstrings, quads and glutes that get doms:)

Power to weight wise, we are exactly the same in strength. Our squats are 2.32
times our bodyweights :)

I hate doing squats! But, they are lifting and toning like you wouldn't believe. I had started to the get the flat butt syndrome from sitting in a chair for 8 hours a day at a desk, you girls know what I mean! Hooray for squats!

I too was a member of the sad black girls club. You know the group of us that missed the genetic booty pool! But I have earned my way back and I now can go to hood proudly baring my bootie. My sisters (of the same sad genetic pool) are all jealous! I will try to get them to join as soon as they get over their hair/gym issues...

I went out and got all new pants just over a month ago. Within two weeks they didn't fit right, I had to go out and get the same pants the next size down. Then after about two weeks those don't even fit right, not that they feel too big or small, just fit differently in different areas. I figure I'm going to wait a while before getting any more new clothes, I like how my legs and glutes are shaping up but am a bit frustrated finding clothing that works.

I've seen this thread wandering around for a while now and I'm finally checking it out...
Since this is the Squat Booty Sorority, I think this is the perfect place for this, my strange little question: In the one section of my fitness trainer text, they talk about the different misalignments of the spine, lordosis, kyphosis, etc. Anyway, they said one way to easily see whether you're basically in alignment is to stand against a wall with head, shoulders, butt, calves, and feet touching the wall (I'm going by memory, this was a few chapters ago). If any one part is "out of place", you may have a problem, because if your spine is as it should be then all the aforementioned parts should touch the wall without strain.
So my question is this... my calves do not touch the wall, so are my calves just underdeveloped (unlikely, considering how crazy-specific my training is for them), or is my butt so big and muscular that I need to be in the Squat Booty Sorority?!!
(I don't think I have a back problem; I've been to the chiro and they never said anything dramatic about my spine or anything.)

Maybe when I fill them out without the pump I can finally join. I sure had a good one growing up and through my 20's.

it took me forever to find the jeans i'm wearing in my avi - fit perfectly around the waist and right fit in the thigh. Nowadays i hate jean shopping :/

Never too late! and deep squats work wonders for the inner thighs, trust me. I've trimmed down a few inches around my thighs from squats

I was recently told my rear looks..."full". If there were cup sizes for butts I'd say C working on a D :) I love the muscle growth, now if I could just spot reduce the fat on top *sigh*

I'm so glad I discovered this thread!!! My booty is very much a work in progress, but I've already seen results from squats and lunges. I've never had a completely flat butt, and I still have a small one, but it's already getting bigger and rounder :)

Ok so for some reason I never get DOMS after squats solely. The only thing that gives me DOMS is still legged deadlifts. I mean just to check, I did 10 heavy sets of squats on the smith machine day before. I waited till today, but no DOMS. Does this by any means, mean that I am not working hard enough on those squats? I never get DOMS in my calves either. I wonder why, this is such a partial process.
I mean I can do squats every single day in this scenerio and get a hugeee booty :) lol

I have the same prob doesn't mean it's not working though.
I would recommend moving to a squat rack though (if you can) you get a better range of motion. Also to get some good DOMS try variations of squats.
Ex front squats, bulgarian squats, box squats, atg squats, plie squats, narrow stance squats...I can't think of anymore.
That may help you with getting some soreness and also targeting slightly different angles. (also prevents boredom and injury to keep things mixed up)

Do some box squats in the squat rack, but beware, you wont go as heavy as before. I started doing PL style squats and my lower half is in a bit of pain.
Ay, you might want to do some SLDL. It works the hammies, but nice hammies make that bootie look a lil bigger.

DOMS isn't necessarily an indication that you had a good/bad workout! I find I get DOMS mostly when I try a new exercise or drastically change the reps/sets on one i'm used to.
