My hamstrings are DEAD after yesterday's legs session! Squats, lunges, ham curls, quad extensions, deadlifts, OUCH!!!

Alright, I'm officially going back to lifting on Monday. After taking a few weeks off to focus on cardio, I NEED to get back to the squats!
Since I'm losing bodyfat with all the running, my backside is starting to get a little saggy!?!?!? Who knew?
Must return to the squat rack promptly to fill it out with some nice firm round ass muscles. (all the better for my man to grab in a few months!). Truly, if I can have a rear-end as fine as the one on the man I live with, life will be good. (will have to figure out some sneaky sort of way to take a good butt pic of him when he's not looking ;) )

While Shakira does have an admirable physique, none of the lyrics, song title etc correlate or give praise to the wonderous magnificant Boot-ay. I will have to deny that request :(

Oooh count me in! My bum has always been a big ole bubble butt, my mom used to tell me to suck it in because it was so prominent... but since it's among friends I suppose I'll let it all hang out lol
Hi ho Hi ho off to do more squats I go...
Wow, YOU too??!! My step dad used to always get on my case, telling me to stop walking around sticking my butt out and I WASN'T!!! And I was only in elementary school!! It wasn't until I got older that I realized why he was always saying that to me. My male friends at the one gym I went to used to tease me, asking me if they could set their gym bags down on my "shelf", bwahahaha! So anyway, yeah, I was born with my squat booty. I've also skated ever since I was a teen and started inline speed skating at the age of 24 so with all the skating I do, it's keeping my booty in shape! I do know how to squat though! I've squatted in the past and I still do sometimes, but very light cause heavy lower body weight training just messes me up for skating. I skate twice a week so I need my legs NOT to be fatigued. I skate hard, bounce skating as they call it here in NC, which uses a lot of quad muscle!
Oh, and don't even get me started on trying to find jeans and shorts to fit, grrrrr!!! All they seem to sell these days are low cut jean shorts and I keep finding the SAME problem in ALL of them, in order to get them to fit over my butt, I have to get a bigger size but then they're TOO BIG around my hips!! I mean if I bent over in them you'd see all the way down my ass!! And the ones in MY normal size, won't fit over my ass! GRRRR, it's so frustrating!! Here's me, with my bubble butt and narrow hips.
So anyway, do I qualify to be in the sorority? :D

Hey Jon, You would have enjoyed Toronto this weekend, went to a ribfest and lots of booty there, then was at the BlueJay game today and WOW lots of squatters there from what I could see, then when we were downtown the World Under 20 soccer championship was over and all the sweet girls from Argentina were dancing in the streets in little booty shorts celebrating. Yes it was a great time had by all. And lots of good looking booty, it looks like the girls in downtown Toronto know how to squat. I am hoping to head back downtown once the kids are picked up.

Glad to know I'm not alone... :) I come from a family women who are quite well endowed with bubble butts. My mother used to see how many quarters she could stick on her mom's butt in church while they sang songs...

Sissy squats are great. You can really get an extreme stretch in the quads. I do them without weights to stretch the fascia after squats and I've noticed a lot of improvement since I've started doing them.

Exactly what Matt said, or try 1 or 2 for 8 weeks, then try another set for another 8 weeks and see what works best for you and keep mixing it up to shock your muscles. I personally try various ones all the time so my legs are never used to what is coming, it also helps to target different muscles in your legs.

Well im sorry, but I dont want you to hurt anything there good lookin, after all it is our duty as an AZZ WATCher to look out for ya. You have to keep the body guessing if you want gains, but you dont want to strain any muscles doing so, so you could incooperate all of them, just a couple different ones each week.

Well trust me its not easy, but since when is anything physical supposed to be? This is my third week running and I missed my 2 mile lastnight cause I was real pissed about some things, so im going to run 4 miles tonite. The only thing that keeps me going is im dropping inches like crazy, still not losing weight. Im 260 not budging at all, but the line going down in between my abs just came out, so i know im losing.

Nah dont cry, I dont like that, not ignoring you, I can only log on periodically to check replies. I am at work, if im on any longer I will get in trouble, dont need that. Anyway the meals are not going good. I still only getting 2 meals in a day, I just cant bring myself to eat anymore than that. And I know that some of the reason my fat burining isnt at its full potential. My glycemic levels are all messed up, so my body thinks its starving and its keeping some of the fat on. I need to eat 6 meals a day, im working up to that, last week id only eat one meal a day. But with the heat, its a healthrisk out here.

for me its 25 lunges total for a walk accross the gym so i do 4 sets of that, my legs feel like they are going to explode after though :D

I was reading an article about whether to do weight training or cardio first & this is what it said...You just reminded me...
Cardio and weight training cause fatigue, so if you run on the treadmill first, the quality of your weight training program will suffer and vice versa. Scientist from BYU found that post-exercise metabolism increased most when people did cardio first and weight training second. They concluded that people should do cardio first and then lift weights if the goal is to maximize caloric expenditure. The downside of the cardio/weight training sequence is you don't have the strength for a high quality weight workout. It's difficult to do lunges or knee extensions when your legs feel like jello. If your goal is losing body fat, then cardio first may make sense. If your goal is to have toned, strong, shapely muscles and minimal fat, train with weight first and the hit the treadmill or elliptical.
I don't know I thought it was interesting, I usually do my cardio first then weight train, just because I'm maintaining my LBM and dropping fat rather then trying to gain LBM...

x2...exactly!...cardio is definitely overrated...people need to pay more attention to eating clean and training HEAVY!
they should/can do some cardio yes, but cardio should not be the main focus.

Depends on what your goals are. I just started 30 min. lifting sessions with a 4 mile run afterwards, so ill see how that goes. Ive definately weakened since I stopped lifting. Did incline lastnite, only got 185 for 6 reps, and 2x10 135. Thats horrible. SO hopefully ill get some strength back on top of losing weight.

There is a point of diminishing returns with cardio. There is a reason the cardio buff in your gym, the one that does 2 hours a day, likely still has a high bodyfat %, even if they are thin. The body is very adaptive, if you don't provide enough calories and do way to much cardio, your body will simply store the food you eat as fat. It knows you're going to subject it to tons of cardio. The only way it can provide the energy for such a thing is via fat storage. So it's a vicious cycle. In the end, weight training will provide a longer "burn" time. Any muscle you add will allow you to burn more calories in everyday life. Over time, leading to more fat loss. I never recommend more than 30-40min of cardio, after training. I never recommend running. Put the treadmill on an incline, walk as fast as you can without using your hands for 30 minutes. This will work your glute/ham tie in. I've used this method with countless girls that compete and it works fine.
In the end, some have genetics that override irrational dieting/training decisions. The majority of people don't have that benefit. So just because someone looks great, doesn't mean their methods are right for you. Diet is SO key to everything. It's just the hardest part of it. Eating for function rather than pleasure.

It looks like some sort of mutated power lifting stance squat. The legs are wide enough, she's just too tilted with her back.

Idk, that's how I was taught. Look at a spot high up on the wall, puff your chest out, and keep your back straight. Dont let your knees go over your feet, but dont sit back too far, but hey, I could be wrong.

It's hard to tell without seeing her from the side. I always make sure my chest is out and keep my back rigid. I'm not sure about my knees, I really just try to keep from going backwards, LOL.
It just looks painful the way she's positioned, LOL :)

I think that's why they tell you to make up your mind about whether you're doing parallel or a2g BEFORE the rep... so you don't end up in her position. Chest out, knees... not so much. Though knees past feet makes it much harder to break parallel.
I knew I'd seen her positioning before... that's what happens to me if I forget to stick my chest out.

I personally always have. I'd rather be able to actually see my squatting form to make sure I'm doing it correctly. I actually don't remember ever reading anywhere where it actually told you where to look. I mean I've never seen mention of where you should be looking. In most of the photos I've seen though of someone squatting, the person is usually looking straight ahead.
