Hey!

I am a 15/female. I workout everyday with moderate weights/high reps/high intensity. I do a different muscle group everyday. I have a very healthy diet. I eat lots of fruits, veggies, grains, nuts, chicken, turkey, tuna, eggs, just anything healthy, I eat it. I also get two whey protein shakes a day containing 25 grams of protein. I do not drink milk, but I do drink Soy Milk. I take 2 ZMA capsules 30 minutes before bed everynite. I take two multivitamins a day. I also take glutamine. I am trying really hard to build muscle and have seen a very big improvement in my build. I do not ever eat any junk foods or crave them at all. I am completely satified with my diet. The only cheat food that I allow myself sometimes is peanut butter (oooohhh how I could eat a whole container its so good! But I never would). I have been working out for a year like this. Following this same routine...The thing is I haven't had my period for alongggg time. I got it once a couple of months ago and then it disappeared and never came back! Now, I saw my docter about this and she said I need to take this medicine thats some sort of hormone that will make my period start again. She said that when a woman doesnt get her period the inner lining of the uterus can get thick or something and later cause cancer???!! I was like what!!! I don't really want to get my period...but I suppose maybe I should. I feel that if Im not getting my period that its ok, cause its my body thats controlling itself, its natural, right? I feel that if I get my period again I will gain weight.....go into all thoes mood swings....have acne....get alll bloated....cramps...etc. Does anyone else here on this message board have the same problem??? SHould I try taking the hormone so I can get my period back? Im just really stuck between a rock and a hard place here...I like not having my period and all, yet I dont wanna get cancer! O yeah, by the way, there would be no chance of me being pregnant (lol)......Anyone got any advice??

what is your bodyfat %? The menstrual cycle ceases in women with extremely low bodyfat percentages. Also, are you taking in enough fat in your diet? Fat is essential for hormone production.

Hey! Having the same problem myself, only recently did I stop my period, once you get below 11 or 12% BF you will stop your cycle. I don't know what hormone your Dr. is talking about, was it oral contraceptives? That is a good idea just to keep your bone density up, and reduce your risk of various cancers, etc. Please find out what he wants you to take, I work in the women's healthcare field, and many artificial hormones they give women like us are to keep our fertility, and if you're like me you're not having kids anytime soon, so you don't need unnecessary weight gain. I haven't gained a pound from the pill, BUT, a lot of the regulating hormones out there Drs love giving women, WILL cause your BF to increase. SO, do some research first and post the reply. I am curious now!!

You should ask a trainer at a gym to caliper you. No it's not sexual, ha ha it's the plastic pincher thing, they should pinch several sites, and it's real important that you ask someone who knows what they're doing. To get the most accurate read, you need to have them test you BEFORE you workout. Some gyms charge a small fee for this. If your gym doesn't do this for you, there are individual personal trainers that are certified in this area.
Hope this helps!
Oh yeah, wear baggy shorts you can pull up or down a little, and a sports bra. <easier acccess to the testing sites>

One overlooked micronutrient is iron. Women need more iron than men due to their menstrual cycle, and iron deficiency can play a part in delaying periods. whenever you eat beef or broccoli, have a glass of orange juice as this will help with the iron absorption.
remember when you pump iron, there are actually TWO types of iron that are important.
All the best

I'm having the same problem! I'm 16 and I weigh about 145(last time I checked, about a month ago) and w/ like 28% bf (also from a month ago). Is there anything else that can screw up the cycle because I'm nowhere near below 12% bf. I don't want to get cancer when I'm older either! :( My period stopped for like a month or 2 and then I got it again for one month but then it stopped again. Last time I had it was in Feb. Should I go see a doctor and see what he has to say about this? I run between 2-4miles (15-40mins) every morning before breakfast except for saturdays. After that I weight train(30mins) & work a dif. muslce group everyday except for saturday(my day off). And I eat healthy just like FemaleTeenBBlder, no junk food. I'm good w/ fats (between 30-40%). And no, it's not pregnancy. Any advice? Should I just supplement w/ extra iron? I'm not on the pill or any birth control and my mom would never let me be on any of that stuff because she thinks that would give me a reason to go have sex... so that can't be an option unless the doc says its a definite must.

Hey, I went to the docters again today. I decided I am going to take the Provera medicine. I have to take one pill everyday for 10 days in a row and I will eventually get my period. The Doc said that it doesn't start up the menstration cycle so it keeps going, it just starts it once, then, if your body doesnt have the hormones needed to start the next period, it wont start. So, Im gonna go for it. The Doc said it is wise to have your period at least once every three months. SOmething to do with the uterus building up too much, which may lead to uterune cancer?? I don't know much about that, so Im just gonna tak ethe Provera and get my period once....Anyone else taken Provera?? I hope it doesnt make me gain weight, get acne, or have bad mood swings...its been sooooo nice not getting all thoes cramps, yet I know it's not exactlly healthy to not have your period..oh well, see what happens...!
