View Full Version : Do the clothes guys wear matter?

I am wondering if what the girls think of clothes on guys. Does it matter if they are dressed up nicely? When does is it important to dress nicely? I am more of a gym shorts/sweatpants and normal t-shirt kind of guy. Reps to those that help.

It matters to some, and it matters differently. Most girls who care about how guys dress probably care not for the labels but whether the clothes a guy suit him well.

So long as you are comfortable and it is occasion appropriate. If someone has a problem with the way you dress, then they've got their priorities messed up. Unless you are teh stinky. Do not be teh stinky.

I like clothes that suit the guy, its not so much a particular style or fashion that i like but how the person wears them.

You could wear a $10,000 suit and look like crap if its not who you really are

The way a guy dresses can be a total turn on...I like a guy to look presentable, but he can't look way to metro. I don't care about labels, I just want you to match, your clothes to be clean, if they are wrinkled, iron them...and don't be stuck in some different time era please. :)

clothes definitely matter. I've met guys who I thought were hot but didn't date them cus they looked like slobs. If they can't get it together enough to dress well, who knows about what kind of date they'd be.

I always wear band shirts (usually death metal stuff), and I get some random attention from women, but whenever I wear one of the few nice looking shirts I have, I almost always get more attention from women.

I just gotta support my death metal bands, so I cant give those shirts up.

You don't need to be a flashy dresser, but avoid clashing colors and materials. If you are going casual, you don't want to look like a rodeo clown with mish-mash of ****ty colors.

I think there are four things to consider when getting dressed:

1. Do the clothes match?
2. Do the clothes match the person? Does the person know how to wear the clothes?
3. Do the clothes fit properly?
4. Are the clothes clean?

I think where a lot of guys go wrong is not shopping for outfits. What usually ends of happening is they might get a shirt they like one time and get the pants another time. This can work, but most of the time the two don't match. I think by shopping for outfits you get a better chance to see what it looks like on you and can make the necessary adjustments before making a purchase. Women seem to have this mastered because they will buy earrings, necklace, dress (or blouse and pants/skirt), hand/arm jewelry, and shoes all in one shot. Another really big issue I see with some younger guys is trying to dress like people in music videos. Most of that stuff looks stupid on the video and is going to look even dumber on the average joe.

Also, clothes should fit. I cannot STAND the trend of wearing gigantic clothing and pants with the crotch dangling at knee level and half their boxers showing. What the hell is the matter with guys who dress like this? That doesn't just deserve the fashion police, it deserves the fashion firing squad.

Personally, I like a nice ass on a guy, especially showcased in a well-fitting pair of jeans. The whole dangly-pant, giant-clothes thing makes a guy look like he has NO body whatsoever and his calves are probably about as big around as my arms. No thanks. If you're not 6'7 and 350, then you don't need the 3XL sports jersey.

What about tight(er) clothes? (if the body permits)

A nice loose, but snug button down shirt? (nice design with it or w/e)

How terrible is a white undershirt with w/e pants or shorts?

Depends how you look like.
If you're all hairy and sweaty, please do not walk around in white undershirts and shorts. Major turn off. White undershirts are pretty much a no-no in town, unless you're in a rock band. You might get away with it on the beach or the gym.

I care for how guys dress - they do not have to be trendy or anything, but they should wear clothes that flatter them and look good. Not too baggy. Clothes should match. No ugly 15 year old t shirts. Nice undies are essential.
I want my guy to look good and I don't want to dress him every day.

Whats so expensive about $300? I usually spend that on my homiez at the clubz making sure I don't end up deceased.

You're 17. I'm sure going out for Teen Night doesn't $300. Those little "Under 21" wristbands are usually free.

Fair enough. Not hairy or only sweaty when I just worked out... no rock band. The only downside is it looks kinda "ex con like" which is not flattering. Commfy and fits well though.

What's the opinion on button down, or silk hawian type shirts? ;D

I wear a black leather jacket, t-shirts and jeans. I am clean shaven (or light stuble). And I've got a decent smell. Does that sound good enough for most women?
