History's attempt at Testosterone Enhancement

For years supplement companies have been churning out products promoted as testosterone boosters with large marketing budgets and flashy graphics in order to drill home to the masses that the product is brilliant. The fact is the majority of these companies spend more on the advertising than the research and development. In fact, a lot of companies save a lot of money by re-hashing the old ideas of the more innovative companies, or simply ripping off their newest ideas. To put it plainly, those who can, do, and those who can't, copy. Because of this, there are herbs ever-promoted by these companies for their newest products, and like a broken record you can guarantee they will focus on one, two or all of the following: tribulus, avena sativa and long jack (aka tongkat ali).

Tribulus has highly conflicting scientific research behind it regarding whether it does anything for impacting testosterone levels, although the older population end to note that they notice improvements in libido from it. Ultimately, very, very few users report any influence to body composition or strength levels. Avena sativa is touted as being able to increase free testosterone, and yet there is absolutely no scientific evidence to support this theory. In fact, we are quite perplexed as to where this rumour came from. Finally, long jack possibly has the most potential of them all, but results seem to be quite hit-and-miss and it is not rare for users to report negative side effects that are attributed to it use, such as itchy nipples.

More recently, aromatase inhibitors (AI) have been released and used extensively as a means of estrogen control. They also have the secondary benefit of tricking the body into releasing more testosterone, however many users will take dosing to the extreme which inevitably has negative implications on sex drive.

The Future of Testosterone Optimization The release of ActivaTe two years ago marked a change in the market for testosterone enhancement. Never before had one natural compound proven so effective, giving results across the board. That compound is Divanil, a lignan found naturally in the root of the stinging nettle. High dose of this particular lignan had never been seen before in the industry.

And so now we earmark another revolution in the industry as we release - ActivaTe Xtreme. Again, utilizing Divanil, a compound tried, tested and scientifically proven to enhance free testosterone by binding to sex-hormone binding globulin (SHBG), ActivaTe Xtreme goes those few steps further to improve upon the greatness of the original. Icariin, a flavonol found in epimedium extract is included for its testosterone mimetic properties and for its ability to promote serum testosterone levels. In addition, this compound can enhance erection strength and should work as a fantastic libido enhancer. Basella alba marks another first for the industry from Designer Supplements. Closely related to spinach, basella alba has been shown to promote testosterone production in the testes and even help increase bodyweight. The combination of the three compounds should give rise to significant elevations in testosterone, and so the natural occurring phytochemical indole-3-carbinol is included to promote healthy estrogen metabolism and counter any unwanted side effects. Finally, rhodiola rosea, the classic adaptogen is included for its effects on combating fatigue and stress, regenerating ATP reserves, and promoting physical performance and endurance.

ActivaTe Xtreme is the future of natural testosterone enhancement and will help lead to improvements in strength, body composition and sex drive.

Yeah the black label looked terrible. The new ACTX labels didnt come out as bright as I had thought but thats because of the cool foil background.

Now I just have to get BBing to change the DS logo to the new one.

YES! After I got married and had a child all in about a three month time frame I had no time to train and wound up taking about 5 months off and got way out of shape. Its been a struggle to get back to where I was mainly because my body isn't responding to things it used to so I'm going to try some different things.

Anecdotal thoughts: I had to move my monday workout to this evening due to some family stuff I had to deal with. So I'll be training back tonight. As far ACTX goes its still very early so I haven't noticed a great deal. One thing I have noticed are very vivid/wild dreams. I've also felt great the last two mornings upon awakening. I'm pretty sure this was common with the original product but I'm not positive on that. Feeling my chest workout this morning big time which is good because it lets me know I'm doing something right. Again to any DS people if there is a set parameters or specifics you would like feedback on let me know.

D_

Oh I'm interested in the aesthetic aspect of the product as well. Anything that will change my body comp in a favorable manor is always a plus. I've posted before but I'll say it again I don't and haven't ever considered myself a bodybuilder. I started training for athletics in HS and then some in college. After that it was hit or miss for a couple of years and then I got into powerlifting at about 24 and did that for a couple of years until my right shoulder couldn't take it anymore. For the last couple of years I've just "trained" out of addiction. I've had a few setbacks but my life seems to have normalized at this point and through some give and take with my wife I was able to get some solid home equipment and build a room (an addition to my shed if you will....) to house it. I'm limited in some aspects but I can still manage. I don't powerlift anymore but I still train with the same mentality, heavy as hell all of the time.

Anecdotal thoughts: In general had a ****ty day yesterday but a solid workout none the less. Felt good and focused though out. As for ACTX its still early and I would expect it to start to pick up in week 2. I did notice one potential side yesterday. About 20 minutes after my second dose for the day I got a nasty headache which may be from the Rhodiola in the formula as I've seen others report the same with Rhodiola supplementation in general. We'll see what happens today. Question for team DS, I'm currently dosing 4 caps daily (2x2) and I'm wondering at my weight if it may be beneficial to increase it to the max dose of 6 daily? I wanted to run the log for a full 30 days so thats why I was dosing it at the 4 caps daily. Also is there any preference to dosage timing? I've been dosing in the AM and in the afternoon.

nni
07-18-2007, 06:02 AM
at your weight the higher dosage is beneficial, but you wont make the full 30.

225+ take 2 caps, 3 x per day. just spread the dosage out.

incline db curls - 80x15x3

hammer curls - 80x15x3

Anecdotal thoughts:Well I had pretty good workout yesterday. Probably the best I've had yet since starting this log. Felt strong until the end. I did up the dose to 6 caps daily with the final dose about 60 minutes pre workout and I did notice a difference in intra workout pumps. My tri's began to hurt around rep 8 on my pressdown sets. Although not worked directly my forearms were also pumped/hurting more so than they have in recent memory. As far as the headache that I received on Tuesday, it didn't come back yesterday but I will continue to monitor this none the less. Libido seems to be up a little as well.

Anecdotal thoughts: Best workout this week. Felt great all day long. I do think there maybe something to the dosage increase as I've felt the product a lot more the last two days. That being said it also could be to a cumulative build up of the ingredients as well. Intra workout pumps were very strong again today. In fact painful. No sides(headaches)today either.

Basella Alba. In the studies we went over there was a specific dosing protocol used based on weight which we tried to duplicate. So the guys that weigh more or dont respond well to supplements (Shadowjack and Twin) will get more from the BA at the higher dosing and then the Divanil/Icariin will do their job.

Depends on how "new" you're talking about, and how hard you're willing to go. Here's what my workout playlist consists of. It's not for the faint of heart, but it gets me mentally jacked day in and day out. These aren't really new, and you've probably heard most of them before, but they get the job done.

Anecdotal thoughts: Great workout today. Added 10lbs to all movements and subsequently dropped a few reps. Feeling extremely tight in my upper body, everywhere. DOMS seem to be increasing also but it maybe an increase in overall tightness from the product. No real sides to report other than the one headache and some oily skin. Libido seems to be up as well. Having used both the beta form and the retail version of ActivaTe this dose seem to bring the overall efficacy up a notch.

Anecdotal thoughts: Probably the best workout I've had yet. Added 20lbs to my lat pull downs and 40lbs to my stiff arm pull downs. Really aggressive and intense (alpha male mentality) yesterday. Pumps are coming on and the overall tightness/density of my upper body and lower to a degree is great. This stuff does cause me to have crazy ass dreams. I don't often have dreams that I can remember but pretty much every night since I started ACTX I've had some of the most vivid/intense dreams that I can remember having. Don't know why but I do. No major sides but the increase in oily skin has caused me to have a couple of minor breakouts here and there on my body but nothing major.

Anecdotal thoughts:Felt great yesterday. Almost didn't even workout as I was tired as hell after work yesterday but a couple of scoops of Steel Edge took care of that. Increased weight in both press downs (+40lbs) and incline curls (+10lbs) so I'm happy about that. Getting some very strong intra pumps and overall hardness/density is way up. Feel pretty pumped for most of the day fallowing my workout. All in all I'm liking this stuff quite a bit. IMO it's way more potent than the original and outside of Omega T-Force it's probably given me the most noticeable results from an herbal type test booster.

So I'm not the only one, is this a common thing?? I started having them on day 2 or 3 and I get them almost every night. Thing is the dreams themselves are out of control. Some of the craziest and weirdest **** I can ever remember dreaming. Some good (sex) and some nightmarish (people dieing) and some just out there (aliens and ****....:D).

Anecdotal thoughts: Great workout yesterday. Totally in the zone and managed to add two reps to both of my press movements and 4 to my fly's. Total upper body tightness, somewhat feels like DOMS but with the real bad soreness. Almost what I felt like when using Anabolic Pump to a degree. No major sides to report other than some acne. Overall I like this product a lot and for me anyway it's had more of an effect on me than the original version.

Never experienced the nighmares on ActivaTe. Actually, the only time I do get horrible nightmares is when I'm forced to take high doses of prednisone.

I hear that a lot, actually.

ActX has been interesting for me, sleepwise. AcitvaTe just made me sleep and have vivid dreams. Xtreme is lights out......better than most sedative hypnotics for me. I feel great, despite schedule.

Stiff arm pull downs - 160x14x3<--start--current-->200x10x3

Low back extensions - 300x14x3

Anecdotal thoughts: As you can see on both pull down movements I've made some pretty significant strength improvements since starting this log and I've added a couple of reps to the others. As I stated earlier I attribute some of this to myself but without question ActivaTe Xtreme is doing it's part as well. This product has met my expectations thus far and in the last 3 or 4 days really started to kick in. I'm pumped all day and based on a comment my mother made (hadn't seen her in about 3 weeks) I'm getting bigger in my upper body. Also I put on a shirt yesterday that I wore about two months ago and I got it on but barely and it felt like it was going to rip at the seems at any given moment. Between Act X and T-Force the last two months have been great in terms of overall progress to get back to my pre married physique. Tragically I only have enough left for three more days after today so I will be able to finish out the week. I've been dosing the 6 caps daily so my log will fall short of the 30 days that I think most will be doing. An 8 week cycle of this would be special IMO and I wish I had more........

Thanks Mike. Yeah the vivid dreams are something else man. For example this very morning I was dreaming I was running late for work and when I woke up at 1:15 am I jumped out of bed and got into the shower. Keep in mind I usually get up at 4:00 am. My wife came into the bathroom and asked me WTF I was doing and I told her I was late for work and she said no your not, its 1:30. So I went back to bed, but clean. :D

Anecdotal thoughts: Solid workout yesterday on chest. No improvements anywhere but I did feel strong throughout. Weight is in at 309 lbs this morning and since I'm trying to loose/cut thats cool with me. So yesterday I had to do some shopping and ran into a friend of mine from back in the day, Dave. He and I used to train together and I hadn't seen him in a couple of years and when I walked up and said hello he was "holy ****, you look like you should be in training camp with the Bears!" and I said "man I'm 310" and he stated "maybe but you look a lot more solid and defined". So needless to say that was a huge ego boost that I needed in my quest to return to my former self. My wife keeps telling me similar things but as they say you're your own worst critique. Also as Matt has elected to send me another bottle of ActX I have run out with my first so as of today I'm bridging with some original ActivaTe until it arrives.

First, I have used/am using both and they both work. That being said Novadex XT is an anti-aromatase supplement. Meaning it binds or suicides the aromatase enzyme which is needed to convert test into estrogen. The body which is always looks for a balance is "tricked" into releasing test in an attempt to increase estrogen levels. ActivaTe Xtreme works via 5 different mechanisms none of which are like that of an AI.

Second, the Cowboys??!! Right, who's there QB?? And how many games as he started?? Oh and how many of those did he suck in?? BTW when was the last time TO came to play and wasn't worried about self promotion??

There potential sides with NXT, such as estro rebound, loss of libido and some others. ActivaTe Xtreme is what I would use. Try both and see what works best for you because it may be different from my experiences. We don't live in a one size fits all environment. Its all very subjective on an individual basis.

Get off my boy man!!!! :D ;)

Anyway the differences, in my best bro-science, are:

1) Increased libido
2) Stronger intra workout "pumps" (again I hate that term...)
3) Longer lasting "perpetual pump"
4) Greater strength gains
5) Makes me feel good (state of mind)
6) Has made it easier to drop weight
7) Enhanced daily energy
8) Enhanced daily focus

I'm sure I'm missing some but those are the most apparent to me. Keep in mind I've used ActivaTe from it's infancy with the original 20 caps per day beta and subsequently three other times after that. So I'm pretty well acquainted with it.

I still like the beta better than the retail of regular activaTe for both mood and sleep. I'm sure it is some of the "other" components of nettle, but it was great. I still have 2 bottles left.

Funny you should say that but I noticed my best results with the beta. Went through 4 bottles of it.

Low back extensions - 300x14x3

Ab work

Anecdotal thoughts: Felt great yet again. Added two reps to all three sets of my back width movements. My strength and endurance increases are quite impressive to me considering I'm actually down 7 - 8 lbs since beginning this log. Strong day after pumps(not DOMS but strong fullness). Bodyweight is in the 304-305 range so I'm happy about that. My short term goal was 290 or my pre marriage/pre child weight.

I wouldn't spring extra cash on HLG's personally. I saw no justifiable benefit to that product over XF in terms of net gains, but to each their own. Maybe only if using as a standalone. Then again, since you're a doctor now, money probably isn't an issue. ;)

Anecdotal thoughts: AWESOME workout on sunday. Upped the poundage on my incline fly's to an all time high of 130lbs for 8 reps and 3 sets. Everything else fell in line with that of my last chest workout. Great intra pump that is still very strong a day later. BTW 130lbs is about the max at what I can do at home. I'm gonna have to switch to barbell movements soon. Anyway no significant sides to report except some slight acne here and there. Got the new Saliva and Godsmack CD's and downloaded them to my IPOD and I've been rocking out to those over my last couple of workouts. I don't know what it is but when I infuse new music into my workouts it tends to add a new element to them if only for a short while.

Ok team DS I apologize for the lack of updates but it's been crazy for me since last Thursday. We got hammered with storms/tornado's/subsequent flooding/power outage's and it took a couple of days to clean up the mess. Then over the weekend I had to prepare for my daughters party (35 people! ) on Saturday and then have the party on Sunday. Then yesterday we had to go visit my wifes grandmother in the hospital along with a whole bunch of family drama on her side that I am just sick of. So after all that I honestly haven't had a chance to train since last Wednesday (8/22). I have three days left of Act X, including today so I will get in three workouts up to Friday and then give my final thoughts on Friday. Things are still going good in the libido department and with my weight loss (301lbs this morning). I'll be doing my chest workout tonight so I'll update in the morning. Again I apologize for this.

Hi dtrain13,

I just found and subscribed to this journal of yours. It is very helpful.

I started on the ActivaTe Xtreme on August 20th, and have been a bit puzzled, because so far, I've noticed no effects at all (no dreams, no strenth increase). I know it is early, but I also want to make sure I'm using this supplement in the optimal way.

I've been taking 2 capsules, twice a day. Does it matter when I take it relative to meals? I've been taking it at meals. Also, from your journal, it seems as if you time it with your workouts (I've not been doing that).

Lastly (other than vitamins/minerals and protein powder) this is the only supplement I'm taking. Do you recommend something else to take that works synergistically with it?

Cool info in this thread, and great strength gains!

I didn't notice anything major until the second week so give it some time. The dreams actually stopped after a few weeks, something I think I forgot to report. If after two weeks you still don't see much going on I would bump it to 6 caps even though your below 225lbs. There is no exact science it determining a dosage protocol for everyone just a general idea. There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to supplements. I would take both doses on an empty stomach and not with food. I would also recommend one of your doses be 45-60 minutes prior to training. In terms of other things that I think would work in synergy with Act X the first thing I would recommend would be Omega Sports T-Force. Its also an herbal test booster but it works via a completely different mechanism. Another one would be the new ISA-Test from Isatori as I'm big fan of Testofen. Also I would ask what exactly are you goals and what would you want from this additional product(s)???

My main goal is to increase muscle size. Second goal is to lose bodyfat. I am impressed to see that you have gained strength even while losing a bit of weight!

I admit to placing priority on "form" (how I look) over "function" (how much I can lift), but fortunately these two goals usually go hand in hand.

Your training and diet are the most crucial aspect to achieving your goals. The hard part is being consistent with them (my problem :D ). After you have those down the supplements can help. You seem to have your staple supplements down and ActivaTe Xtreme should help you significantly with reaching your goals. Outside of that the two other products I mentioned will add to it as well as possibly some form of thermogenic can help you with the fat loss aspect of what your trying to do. Just keep up with what your doing (assuming its on point) and results will come.

Absolutely. :) I don't normally believe in LA, at all, but I see them as an 8 seed this year.

Though it is kinda scewed since LA plays Anaheim, San Jose, and Dallas 8 times each and the Hawks get the depleted Preds, awful Jackets, and mediocre Blues.

In short ActivaTe Xtreme met or exceeded my expectations and has become one of my top 5 all time favorite products and it gets two thumbs WAY up from me. Here is my final review:

Trial length (days): ~45 days with a 5 day bridge of the original

Beginning body weight: ~311lbs
Beginning body fat % (approx): ~20%

End body weight: ~301lbs
End body fat % (approx): ~18%

Please note any effects the product had on:
