This will be my log for Designer Supplements Activate Xtreme. I was selected as a tester - thank you DS.
Ok I don't have any fancy banners, my computer skills are not that sharp. If someone wants to make a cool one for me, I would use it.
My logs are pretty basic and to the point.
I was always interested in the original Activate based on it's uniqueness but I never took the plunge. This new formula looks very intriguing.
I have tried a lot of test boosters in the past, most of them did nothing. Diesel Test 2010 & Universal N1-T were the only ones I felt something from. Mostly libido boost and strength gains.
Why am I a good candidate to do a log/review? I am not genetically gifted, in fact I am below average genetically for putting on muscle. Genetically gifted individuals respond well to training, eating, supps etc. I have been training a long time and have tried many different diets, training methods and supps so I have a lot of experience to draw from. I have helped many people with their physique goals from all different walks of life. I am also natural, so there are no anabolics skewing the results of these tested supps.
My age (36) also makes me a good candidate for a product like this.

I do as well...
Are you going to be doing starting weight, lift programs, and all that good stuff...
Or is it going to be strictly how you felt in the gym and if you noticed any strength increase etc....
Should be pretty damn interesting how it goes for ya

Here's the set up
My training is based around Power/Rep Range/Shock system which is a rotation of training styles each week. One week is power (low reps) the next week is rep range (a variety of reps from low to high) and the 3rd week is Shock (supersets, drop sets, very high intensity) then you go back to power, etc.
It's a great way to train. I have been doing it over the past year and have made some great gains. I am 14lbs. heavier than this time last year (at the same bodyfat) and I attribute the gains to switching training styles to p/rr/s. It was perfect for me because I had been training the same way for a long time and my body responded nicely.
more info:
http://www.prrstraining.com/
I am currently training 4 days per week as follows:
Monday - Shoulders
Tuesday - Back
Wednesday - off (cardio)
Thursday - Legs
Friday - Arms
Saturday - off
Sunday - off
You'll notice there is no chest day. I have a recurring shoulder injury that is caused by a trigger point in my pecs. It gets aggravated whenever I train chest. I was training chest consistently up to last month but I started going heavy with it and aggravated the shoulder. I am working with my chiro to find and get rid of the trigger point but it's going to take time. For now I am not doing chest.
Cardio is 4-5 days per week, at least 1/2 hour post workout. I am cutting right now.
I weighed in yesterday at 194lbs. I was 208 on new years day, I have been cutting slowly since May.
naturalguy

My diet is a carb cycle type of diet. With some low, med & high days. Sundays is anything goes.
Other supplements I am going to use during this log:
pre workout - Animal Pump
During workout - Xtend
Post workout - Torrent
fat burner - Cytolean
My biggest challenge comes from the fact that I travel a lot for my job. I always make the time to find a gym where I go and train. I actually like the stimulation that I get from training at different gyms. Eating on the road however is a challenge. I am often out to dinner with clients. You just have to make the right choices when your eating out and don't be afraid to ask for your food the way you want it. I bring my supps with me when I fly except for powders. So when I am on the road it's no Torrent post workout, I will grab a shake at whatever gym I am at.

I am going to start logging workouts today.
I have been taking Activate Xtreme since thursday. I went with 2 caps, 3x per day for thursday and friday then I read that the correct dose for me is 2 caps, 2 x per day.
What I have noticed so far is a definite increase in libido. I don't want to go into too much detail LOL but it's been very noticeable.

BIG changes in my life. I have been with my company for 10 years. I am a sales manager for a large corporation in the kitchen and bath industry. As of Friday, I accepted a job with another company, not a direct competitor but in the same industry. This is a big change for me. I spent roughly 1/3 of my life with my current company. With the new job I will be traveling more as my territory is much larger. I don't start for two weeks so the next two weeks training wise should be solid as I will be home but once I start the new job I will be on the road a lot at the beginning.
July 30th I will be flying out to California to learn the product line. I will most likely get in some workouts at Gold's gym Venice beach. I have trained there before and there is nothing like it. What a great experience and I get so fired up to train there. I will also go visit the Max Muscle store in Venice owned by my friend Dave and Jay Cutler.

I agree... But I hate what Ven. has turned out to be.. Nothing but homeless people buggin you for change or even "wanna be rappers" selling you there CD's.. But hell thats every where you go now...

Yeah shoulder injuries can be very tough because they are easy to re aggravate.
I've been on Activate Xtreme for 6 days now and I don't know if it's related but I have a better sense of well being especially during a very stressful week. With the changing of my job and giving notice and leaving a company that I was with for 10 years as if that isn't stressful enough I have a personal problem with a family member and money (my advice is DON'T get involved with family and money). It's extremely stressful and a lot is on the line. However I usually feel exhausted when I am going through stress and I actually feel very good and have had good workouts.
I am going to take advantage of the time that I will be working from home the next two weeks and will split up my cardio and lifting. I normally do cardio after training but I started this morning with cardio and lifted in the late afternoon. I woke up early, took 2 Cytolean, 3 scoops of Xtend (sipped on slowly during cardio) and did 45 minutes of cardio, moderate intensity on the treadmill.
Rep Range back (later this afternoon):
Lat pulldowns:
200 x 8
200 x 8
200 x 8
180 x 8
T-bar rows:
3 plates x 10
3 plates x 10
3 plates x 10
3 plates x 10
seated cable rows:
140 x 12
140 x 12
140 x 12
140 x 11
straight arm pulldowns:
40 x 15
40 x 15
40 x 15
40 x 15
dumbell shrugs:
100 x 12
100 x 12
100 x 12
Abs:
crunches 3 sets
reverse crunches 3 sets
lower back machine 3 sets
Good workout, felt great. Doing higher reps is more challenging to me then lifting heavy.
Here's a mini review: I used a sample of Nanovapor pre workout. I like to mix up my preworkout supps so I don't get used to the stims. I rotate between Animal Pump (always take this when I am on the road because of convenience) NO Shotgun, VasoXplode, Superpump and Shock Therapy. I have collected many samples. Nanovapor gave great energy, good focus, better than average pump. The one thing I didn't like about it is it killed my appetite. I didn't even want to drink my post workout shake but I would put it on par with other preworkout formulas. They all pretty much do the same thing. I know there are daily threads about this one vs that one but at the end of the day they are all very similar.
NG, quick question, do you have any prior experience with rhodiola rosea? if so, would you compare you current calmness to past experiences? i am just wondering if its the adaptogen at work or a combo of that and increased test levels. thanks.

I have never used it as a standalone but I have used Diesel Test 2010 and M-stak which have it in it. I can say that I dealt with physical stress better (improved recovery) while on those products.

High reps & Legs on a low carb day = :(
I did not use a lot of weight but it was still one heck of a workout. Form was very strict and concentrating on contracting each rep. The 20 rep set of squats was a killer.
I am lucky that my quads grow pretty well, not so for my hammies but thats just the way genetics goes. Here's a pic of my quads, it's an old pic but it's the last time I shaved my legs:

Just checking in to see how things were going.
Also I like your routines. They are simple, direct and to the point and at a good weight as well.
Quick question though. On T-Bars do you feel the need to use plates? Using 25's rather then plates gives a better range of motion imho unless for T-Bars you use a towel grip.
Keep up the good work though. Anticipating how this turns out in the end.

I use the regular 45 lb plates. I understand the use of the 25's but I feel like I get a full ROM with the 45's.
I don't use a towel grip, I use a close grip seated row attachment.

Just making my way through a few of the other ActivaTe logs, and this one stopped me. We have a very similar training style and application of the P/RR/S program in addition to a similar build. Now if only I could get my quads to grow like yours... :( I'll follow along and maybe steal some ideas.
Slightly O/T...
Also, I noticed that you mentioned Cytolean. What do you think of that, compared to Ergopharm AMP (if you've used that)? I'm looking to change (just for change sake) but I really like the appetite suppressant/mood enhancing effects of AMP. I don't really want a "jittery" stim, but rather a smooth, happy, hunger-buster like AMP. What is your experience with the Cytolean? PM if you prefer to keep the log on-topic. Thanks.
uhockey
07-25-2007, 01:38 AM
AMP is definitely a better appetite suppressant than cytolean, but cytolean has more of a dopaminergic/happy feel.....like a sustained release Basic Cuts. I get more appetite suppression from Basic cuts than Cytolean, but the neuralcognitive effects of cytolean are longer, and the stim feel is more pronounced. Scorch still dominates all the stims out there, IMO.....at least for another couple months.

How many days you working out per week?
4 days lifting, cardio is 5 days
Thanks.

In my experience AMP is a very good product for energy, not jittery but lasting smooth energy, and to take on occasion when you need to stay up or work a long day. I did not find it effective as a fat burner though. I keep a bottle on hand and use it sparingly when I need a boost.
I love Cytolean's euphoric feeling and it makes cardio a breeze, I feel like I could just keep going. I have found that a 2 cap dose to be best for me. It's a very decent fat burner as well.
I don't have experience with scorch or basic cuts.

I had to make a schedule change. In my business (sales manager, kitchen & bath industry) I have to be flexible with my training schedule as I travel a lot and don't have a set schedule. So I could not train shoulders on monday as planned. I did back yesterday on schedule and will hit shoulders tonight on my normal rest day. I am very regimented (as you have to be in this sport) and I used to get crazy if my schedule got thrown off. I have learned to be flexible over the years.
This week is shock week. It's not for the weak (pun intended). I usually do supersets, drop sets and rest pauses or super high reps, basically anything that shocks the muscle.
Back:
Lat pulldowns (drop sets):
210 x 6, 190 x 6 (1 set, no rest to failure)
210 x 6, 190 x 6
210 x 6, 190 x 4
190 x 6, 170 x 6
Cable rows (drop sets):
180 x 8, 140 x 6
180 x 8, 140 x 6
180 x 7, 140 x 6
160 x 8, 130 x 6
One arm dumbell rows (rest pause):
85 x 12, x 4
85 x 12, x 4
85 x 10, x 3
Nautilus Nitro pulldowns (high reps):
120 x 17
120 x 15
120 x 15
Cardio: 25 minutes recumbent bike
Great workout, very tough. Fantastic pump.
Activate Xtreme notes:
Libido is still up. I am dealing with stress much better. I have a lot going on. This is my last week at a company that I spent 10 years with. I have a crazy personal financial situation going on with a family member and I am finishing school this week. I fly out to California on monday to start my new job. So a lot going on and I feel great physically. Normally these stressful situations wear you down but I feel great in the gym and recovering well also.

Training shoulders is always special to me. Shoulders is the one bodypart that I really need improvement on. I have genetically flat deltoids and narrow clavicles. I want big, capped out delts. Nothing looks better to me on a physique than round, full deltoids. While my mindset is focused every workout, on delt day it's a heightened sense of awareness.
On to the workout:
Seated side laterals superset with one arm seated side laterals:
25 x 9, 15 x 8
25 x 8, 15 x 8
25 x 8, 15 x 8
25 x 7, 15 x 8
Nautilus Nitro shoulder press drop sets:
200 x 6, 180 x 4
200 x 6, 180 x 4
200 x 5, 180 x 4
125 x 20
Rear delt machine:
110 x 12, 90 x 6
110 x 12, 90 x 6
110 x 12, 90 x 6
110 x 11, 90 x 6
Great workout, pump, focus and strength!
Cardio was 45 minutes in the morning on treadmill.

I can only do them with dumbells these days. Doing them with barbells hurts my elbows too much.
Me too. After my 3rd shoulder surgey I just couldnt get in the correct position with a bar to feel correct. I like using DBs better and doing it on a decline has been great for growth.

Sounds like very comparable products, maybe with an edge to the cytolean on the "happy" factor. Definitely going to give it a try based on the feedback from you and Mike.

Any chance this product will be out before October? I'm in the market for a good burner for the last month before my competition. I've never really used a serious stim (just AMP, and it doesn't have much in the way of fat-burning I don't believe), but I'm looking for an edge to take me to November. If it won't be available retail, is there a way I can slip into your manufacturing facility and snag about 5-6 weeks worth while no one is looking? :D

Thursday was shock legs.
Things have been real busy so I don't remember the weights:
Nautilus leg press superset with leg extensions:
4 sets
Seated leg curls superset with lying leg curls:
4 sets
standing calf raises superset with seated calf raises
4 sets
cardio was 45 minutes in the a.m.

I was going to post up my shoulder workout from Gold's Venice last night - which was excellent including a 10lb. increase on db shoulder presses - but I would rather tell you about meeting Peter Putnam, fresh off his class victory at the USA's, and his wife Jessica (pro figure competitor). Peter was doing a photo shoot for Musclemag and I spoke with him while they were taking a break. Peter posts on muscle mayhem so I know him from online but never met him before. I had dinner with them at the Firehouse (had a "Bob bowl"). Peter's going to be a pro soon and has the type of physique that I think is ideal, very symetrical and aesthetically pleasing. More importantly Peter and Jess are really nice and down to earth. It's easy to let success get to you in this sport (Peter and Jess were both recently on the cover of FLEX) but they are real nice people.
I also saw Chris Cormier and Will "World" Harris. There is nothing like training there.

I trained at Gold's Venice again last night. I hit back & biceps. There is nothing quite like deadlifting there and looking up at the wall of Mr. O winners, looking at pics of Haney, Yates, Coleman and Cutler can really fire you up! I did 405 x 6 for 3 sets. I have not been deadlifting consistently enough but I am going to make an effort to get back into it. I haven't done 405 in a long time and it felt pretty good, must be the Activate Xtreme.

I apologize if my workout descriptions have been brief. I am on the move with the start of this new job. I have only been home 2 days (sat & sun), I am back on the road this week and learning a new product line.
Saturday I did Legs & tris. I don't usually mix bodyparts like this but I had to get my workouts in.
Sunday I did shoulders which I usually do on mondays but my schedule does allow me to train monday (today) as I have a dinner with a customer.
Both weekend workouts were real good even though I was tired from traveling. As I have mentioned before I feel that I am handling stress, both physically and mentally, much better on Activate Xtreme.
As a part of my traveling I always make sure to find a local gym so I will find hotels near gym locations. I will always get my workouts in I just have to be more flexible with my schedule and times.

Strength is good. I have not attempted any pr's however I am gaining strength back easily on some exercises that I have not done in a while like shoulder presses and deadlifts. As far as bodycomp I look fuller and feel like I am up a few lbs (no bodyfat) however I have not been to my own gym in a while to use their scale. I want to use the same scale that I have been so as to be consistent as we know different scales yield different results.

The past two mornings I have been training at 5 am. I am on the road out in the hamptons and have meetings all day then customer dinners at night so thats the only way I can get my training in. I do not like to lift in the morning, I have tried it in the past and I am not as strong as I am when I train later in the day when I have 4 good meals in me and lots of water. However when I am on the road I have to suck it up and do what I have to do. Getting up at 4:45 am sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do.
I trained back yesterday and legs this morning. Training legs at 5:15 am is not fun but it wakes you up real quick. :)

I got in late last night from Orlando. I fly Jet Blue for the first time (usually fly continental) and it was pretty cool. They have Direct TV in every seat with your own screen. They have about 30 channels for free and pay per view movies. I watched Fantastic Four part 2. It was pretty good.
I normally train at NYSC, I have been training there for years. LA Fitness came to town and was opening up a huge gym across the road from NYSC. They started selling memberships in January and saying they were going to open in March. Well here it is August and they just opened yesterday. So I went this morning to do cardio (which I have not done in two weeks) and check out the gym. It is huge with a ton of equipment. It's got more cardio machines than I could count, seriously. I will never have to wait for a machine again. They have a full size pool, a full size basketball court, 6 raquetball courts, a huge spinning room, a huge aerobics room, heck even the babysitting room is cool as they have video game machines set up with xbox and PS3.
That being said I could care less about that crap as I don't use it. The weight room is large and has plenty of equipment and is spread out nicely. They have normal round plates where my other gym had the plates with the straight edges on them which makes it almost impossible to deadlift.
The gym is a little too fancy for me but sadly there are no good hardcore gyms where I live anymore :(
I did weigh myself and I have gained 1lb since starting Activate Xtreme but I look much fuller.

Just for the experience take the JMZ to Williamsburg and get off at the first stop. Ask where Frenchie's Gym is located, it is right on Broadway. Walk up the three flights of stairs to a longtime Brooklyn Bodybuilding tradition. Two old cardio machines and the rest free weights. No air conditioning, and the subway runs directly past the windows rattling the entire gym. Frenchy is an old Puerto Rican bodybuilder that opened this place back in the early 70's and it has not changed a bit. Frenchy also organized some of the earliest bb competitions in NYC, there are pictures all over the walls. Some of the biggest, strongest guys, predominantly Puerto Rican and Dominican, train there. A true old style NYC place, not the new Disney Land NY BS that is slowly eating away the soul of NYC. I have ever seen train there but it is always the same group of about 10 people. Summers are brutal as there is no AC and this thing is on the third floor of an old building. Frenchy charges $20.00 a month and it is worth every penny for the experience. A true hardcore gym if there ever was such a place. Now you have no excuse, you want hardcore, there you go.

I just finished my bottle of Activate Xtreme.
I am going to get right to the meat and potatoes of what I noticed on the product:
Libido boost - this was a very strong aspect of the product and suprisingly it kept up (pun intended :) ) the whole time. I expected it to taper off but it didn't.
Dealing with stress - boy did I put this to the test as I was going through several stressful situations while logging this. I will say that I dealt with the stress very well both physical and mental. I am guessing it's the rhodiola but perhaps it's the formula in whole. The stress adaptation was very strong and noticeable with this product.
Strength - I did not break any PR's because I did not attempt any however I was regaining my strenght back rather quickly (had a previous shoulder injury) and I seemed to be getting stronger as I went along.
Body comp - My bodyweight went up 1lb I was eating around maintenance however I looked much fuller.
Overall, bottom line, would I purchase this product or recommend it to someone else?
Yes I would.

I said this in the review and I'll echo it here. You're one of the few on this board whose opinion I really respect because it doesn't seem like you care waht others think. Your positive evaluation means a lot!

Great review, sounds like DS has a solid product on there hands, cant wait to try it.
And as far as TV screens, I wont put them in my Gym. Hell, most of the reason people are fat is because of TV, seems weird to me to put the in a gym.

I'd rather watch sportscenter while running than stare at the floor.
