Okay. What does everybody think about the 1kg rule? I like it, it makes people more willing to go for records, since they 1 kilo isn't a very drastic jump. And what does everybody think about the new small Eleiko plates that go outside the collars? I think they look kind of crappy. I wish they wouldn't use them at the big comps.

1 kg rule is good.
but what can they use besides the eleiko plates?

Well, the US uses Werksan as its official barbell, its just the IWF that uses Eleiko these days, for some reason, and so I guess they have to go with every gimmicky thing that Eleiko decides to produce.

Woo-hoo! 200th post *little dance*
Anyways, anybody have a good idea of what sections to post in? I want to put it in several where we'll get good responses and more people to come here, I have already posted in teen earlier today, and exercise and sports training.

athenafootball
07-05-2007, 03:34 PM
how much does it weigh?
PrivateBaldrick
07-05-2007, 03:40 PM
Men's bars always weigh 20kg, women's always 15kg. Yes, the women lift on a different bar.
athenafootball
07-05-2007, 03:40 PM
why do women use a different bar??
PrivateBaldrick
07-05-2007, 03:42 PM
Women are generally smaller proportioned than men, and so the women's bar is overall a bit smaller to make it more "equal," I guess.
athenafootball
07-05-2007, 03:45 PM
just like there's a women's tee in golf?
PrivateBaldrick
07-05-2007, 03:48 PM
Yeah, that's the idea.
PrivateBaldrick
07-05-2007, 03:51 PM
PS, don't tell any women weightlifters I said this, but I believe having a shorter bar makes lifting the weight a bit easier than the 5 kilo difference.
athenafootball
07-05-2007, 03:51 PM
there shouldnt be a different bar, women powerlifters are beastly
PrivateBaldrick
07-05-2007, 03:54 PM
Not that the women weightlifters aren't. The world record for superheavyweight women in the clean and jerk is over 400 lbs! By this beastly lady:
