It starts with a C, man! Cael Sanderson! I'd have to agree with you, though, on Iowa State's coach. Not because of Sanderson (he was already too good when he got there, and you can't go by recruiting because all his brothers went there), but because they had the most NCAA champs (3) and came in 2nd in NCAA's.

Cael Sanderson, sorry. At least I didn't say Kyle Anderson like one kid at my school, what a dumb kid.

If Dan Hodge hadn't been hurt, I think he'd have eclipsed everybody. Not sure the exact numbers, but it was somewhere around 50-0 with 40 pins.

I didn't know when you said your first match, if that meant first ever or first of the season. But on tips for success, it's hard to say cause I don't know your strenghts or weaknesses, but if this is your very first match, be sure to guard your legs.. That's something a lot of new wrestlers don't do very well.

First season wrestling. Basically only reason why im wrestling is for football. I can tell you its 1 ****ing hard sport, and wrestlers dont get enough credit. Im around 260ish right now, wrestling 275 weight class. I never wrestled in my life so far, but so far I like it. I find that a lot of the moves my coach teaches us as a whole aren't really what us SHW guys would do, what moves should i practice on that you see SHW guys doing ?

The best hwts are the ones that do moves most hwts don't do. If you get a good shot like a sweep single, even if you suck everywhere else you're way ahead of most hwts. Learn what the lighter guys learn and you'll do very well. We have a guy that totally sucks but he can ride legs (he's like 240!), not even very well, but he wins because no one expects a hwt to put in the legs. Get good with "lighter" moves, that's all I can say.

for short heavyweight i like to see them with a good double leg takedown. cause i know strong shorter heavyweights can actually pull it off.

and get into the habit of pummeling for inside control

Best coach: Bobby Sherman is very good
Best Wrestler: I like Kendall Cross but I don't think he's the best, I'm tempted to go with Aleksander Karelin but I actually think Cael Sanderson could end up being the best of all time. For now I'll stick with Karelin.

Also to the guy who said he's never wrestled before learn these moves you will end up being a beast but learn them so you can do them in your sleep: a strong double, a choke out front headlock, a regular headlock for when you need a jackpot move or want to get off the mat quickly, a really good standup that will lead to your takedowns, and finally perhaps learn legs if your lanky enough but on top all you need is a solid half nelson, an arm bar and maybe a turk.

the experience from grade 12 to university for any sport is quite a big change. especially with wrestling because a lack of scholarships. you may be an all star in high school but you need to the best of the best and to start in college you almost needed to be ranked in high school. now, fargo is pretty much the only way to get spotted.

Very true, this is why I'm trying to get good at freestyle right now so I can go to nationals at Fargo so I can get a scholarship, I don't want to go to Iowa or a good wrestling school I just want to go to Princeton or Stanford they are both D-1.

Hey guys I'm kinda discouraged. This is my first year wrestling. I'm 0-4 right now. I guess I'm kinda contemplating if I still wanna wrestle. I'm just not aggressive enough. I don't shoot enough. I'll post more details l8r.

drill as much as you can, stay with it, i know a kid who didn't win one match his first year and now he is really good. do speed drills and get some good scrimage time, this is all pretty well common sense so yeah
