Are Leg Presses necessary? When I first started lifting weights at school my strength and conditioning coach said they were worthless and were only there to show off strength that was already made by squats and lunges but they didnt make you any bigger or stronger.........so since he said that I have never used them but 3 times in my life....So was he telling the truth or should I start using them?? for example if I had a routine like this:

Squats
Leg Extension
Leg Press
Wall Sits

would it be more beneficial to switch Leg Press out with something like Front Squats, or Overhead Squats, or Lunges....or should it be left alone????

I think leg press is a better exercise than leg extension, but not as good as squats.

Legs are my favorite bodypart to train and I wouldn't just stick with just one program that repeated the same exercises over and over again. I would switch things around just to make it interesting.
Legs altogether are a big group of muscles so different exercises could also hit different muscle fibers for over-all leg size and shape.

Agreed. To me, squats are the hardest exercise, yet I love doing them because of this.
