I've seen some members who have titles other than "Registered User" under their avatars...anyone know how to change that?

Go to user CP. Edit profile. Change your custom user title.

yeah, you're not alone, i struggled with that concept for a while myself, eventually i stumbled upon how to change it but it took me a good little while.
