TOPIC: Which three supplements would you take if you could only choose three and why? Please give your detailed answer about why you chose these three. You can use brand names if you want, or just a generic answer like "creatine".
Don't discuss any other topic in this section. ONLY discuss the question above.
The best response will get $50 in credit to use in our online store! The other good responses will be used in an article on the main Bodybuilding.com site, with the poster's forum name listed by it.
Thanks,

1. Protein/Carb Weight Gainer Shake (most any brand)
Getting the right amount of cals is the most important thing or close to it. Shakes can be used to get as close as reasonably feasible to your daily caloric needs when the food you want to eat doesn't quite add up right.
2. Multivitamin
Obvious reasons
3. Creatine
Only thing that I am 100% convinced that works, and is backed by scientific and bodybuilder evidence. 99% of the other "supplements" are at best highly suspicious marketing ploys that will do little to nothing for you on a good day. Right up there with "penile length enhancers". BTW did anyone see the public notice of fraudulent advertising in the last M&F.

My top 3 supplements would be as follows:
1. Whey protein powder/shake
These work as a great supplement for people who don't get enough protein in their diets when they are lifting weights. It comes in a variety of flavors and brands and there are plenty to choose from. Protein shakes are particularly helpful when you are trying to get a certain % of your nutrients from protein (for example, a 40/40/30 carb:protein:fat ratio) and you don't get enough of it through normal dietary sources. I am not a big advocate of high-protein or keto dieting, but in my opinion protein shakes are a good, basic supplement for any person who is undergoing an active weight lifting program or exercise in general. These types of supplements are also good for anyone wanting to supplement their protein intake in addition to their normal diet.
2. Multivitamin/Multimineral Supplement
Multivitamins are good because they are a good "insurance" that your body will receive the micronutrients it needs. Most of us don't have the greatest dietary habits and we don't eat a wide enough variety of foods to supplement the nutrient needs that our body has. Multivitamins are in no way a substitute for adequate nutrition or healthy foods, but they provide a baseline for nutrition and prevent deficiencies in many vitamins and minerals. I think a basic multi-vitamin/multi-mineral product is a good selection for anyone of any age. Be sure to check out the label to make sure you are getting a little of each nutrient. Watch out for megadose vitamin supplements that claim to help with different things. I would recommend a basic multi to just about anyone wanting to make sure they get the proper nutrients.
3. High-protein snack bars
These high-protein snack bars are great for people who don't have a lot of time to cook and need something they can stick in their bag or backpack and have a snack in the middle of the day. There are a wide variety of these bars available with some that are high-protein and some that are more of a "balanced" micronutrient variety. There are tons of flavors available and it's best to try different ones out until you stumble across one that you really like. I believe they are a good supplement to help increase protein intake, but not a staple source of nutrition in the diet. Good on-the-go nutrition for people with busy lifestyles like students, people working, etc......
Those are my 3!

Does anyone know who won the $50 of supps in the last topic of the week thread?
warriors
09-23-2004, 06:39 AM
My top three supps:
1) Whey protein shakes ( I choose Opitimum Nutrition 100% whey as it's cheap and effective) I think these are very important in anybody's diet. They are easy to make, taste good, and you can even add other stuff in them such as oats, natty peanut butter, or some fruit for extra carbs or protein. Without these i would not get the recommended protein intake.
2) Creatine (any brand) This is probably the safest supp on the market. It has been backed by plenty of scientific research and it actually works for me and alot other ppl i know. Its just a good all around product for strength and size.
3) EFA's (any brand) I think these are def over looked when taking supps. Ive been taking them for the last 2-3 years and are just as important or prolly more important than multivitamins. If u eat a well balanced diet i dont think u need mulit's. EFA's have a lot of health beneifts to such as increased energy, helps with arthritis, and can help with the immune system. Overall a very strong and healthy supplement.

Whey Protein-
Whey is one of the highest quality proetins availible. Its an extemely cheap protein source, comes in many different flavors, and is perfect for after workouts. It is also helpful for dieting(cutting/bulking). Protein is the most important nutrient a bodybuilder needs to have due to its muscles building/repairing effects. Protein is needed to create a positive nitrogen balance as well as keeping blood amino acid levels above base-line to stay in an anabolic state, it is simply put the most important nutrient a bodybuilder could have. It is not some miracle muscle builder but it is a basic that is needed for consistant constant gains.
Creatine-
Creatine is a very beneificial supplement for bodybuilders as well. Creatine causes increase in strength, Lean Body Mass, Faster Recovery, and much more. A creatine cycle is one of the easiest and safest ways to boost mucscle growth. Creatine has worked wonders for me and i believe it to be a very good supplement. For those fourtunate enough to be responders to creatine are extremely lucky to have this supplement on there side. For those that don't respond to creatine monohydryate there are several different types of creatine the have come out recently. These products such as Swole and V12 tend to respond better. So now creatine is now safe and effective for a much wider group of people. Creatine is without a doubt a very good supplement.
ZMA-
Zma is a natural test booster with many other positive effects. Not only does it help to boost testosterone, but it also induces sleep. By inducing sleep you will get a deeper sleep which will help to repair muscles. Also by getting a deeper fuller sleep more HGH will be released naturally by your body increasing muscle growth as well as stimulating the metabolism. I feel that ZMA is a very important supplement with many positive benefits. It is especially important to males over the age of 30, whose natural test level are falling fast. ZMA is a way to boost natural levels of testosterone without negative side effects like that of pro-hormones and steriods.

1)Whey Protein - Proteins are the building blocks of tissue. Without an adequate supply of protein your muscles can't fully regenerate themselves, and will then waste away, or at best just maintain themselves. However you will likely see overtraining very quickly. Also, proteins are composed of aminio acids. Amino Acids are very important in carrying out essential bodily functions and processes. Protein channels also exist in cells, these allow for energy to be produced by creating potential energy with hydrogen ions. This energy is then used to create ATP. More ATP, more energy for the cells to use to rebuild, and thus faster and better recovery.
2)Multivitamin- As bodybuilders, we often limit certain macronutrients like fat and carbs. Carbohydrates contain many micronutrients that our bodies really need. And without a healthy intake of fat, fat soluble vitamins can't be stored in your body as effectively. So daily supplementation gives your body the vitamins and minerals it needs to carry out certain processes and functions. And calcium supplementation can help increase bone mass when coupled with load bearing exercises.
3)Creatine - creatine supplementation can really have two effects. If you want to be able to stimulate your muscles more, by placing a larger load on them, then creatine should be taken pre-workout, about an hour before. However this can be dangerous if your ligaments and tendons aren't capable of handling such loads. The other way is using it post workout to enhance recovery. This works because creatine helps speed up the phosporylation of ADP to ATP. ATP is what your body stores energy in. Whenever your body needs energy for anything ranging from movement/lifting to digestion and repair, it uses ATP. That's right, more ATP means it has more potential energy it can use to repair. And on off days, when you take creatine to maintain muscular levels, additional ATP doesn't have much work to do, so the energy released by it is coupled with another reaction to create glutamine. The amino acid that is most depleted after exercise can be synthesized faster with creatine. However some supplementation of glutamine may be helpful as well, but creatine is better overall.

The Top Three Supplements on the Market
1) Optimum Nutrition's 100% Chocolate Whey Protein 5 lb. canister -
BENEFITS:
1) Convenience - No need for long-drawn-out preparation, unpacking, chewing or defrosting. Scoop, shake and chug. The 5 lb. canister offers both the cost-effectiveness of the 10 lb. bag, and the ease of use of the 2 lb. tub.
2) Bioavailability - Whey, being 100% bioavailable, is absorbed completely and efficiently by the body.
3) Cost-Effective - One of the cheapest high-quality wheys on the market, ON's 100% will take out about $30 from your monthly budget if ordered from Bodybuilding.com.
4) Ideal for Frequent Use - ON's 100% Whey is low-sugar (1 g./serving) and low-fat (1.5 g./serving), meaning that it can be used regularly without you having to worry about insulin spikes or excessive saturated fat (0.5 g./serving). If you have cholestrol problems, you need not worry either, since it is low in cholestrol (10 mg./serving) and low in sodium (40 mg./serving). The majority of its contents is protein.
5) Universal Application - ON's 100% is also unique in that it can be used whether you are trying to gain mass, lose fat, running a ketogenic diet, going low-fat, low-cal or what have you. It will provide the protein you need to keep your body in an anabolic state (23 g./serving), it won't interfere with lipolysis due to its low-calorie profile (110 cals/serving), it won't step in the way of ketogenesis due to its low-carbohydrate quantity (3 g./serving), and of course it packs very little fat in each scoop. Even if you are using a specific strategy for contest dieting (for example, if you are strictly avoiding sodium to prevent 'the bloat' of water retention), it won't take you away from your goals.
6) Non-Gassy - From personal experience, I'd say a lot of wheys on the market that I've been tempted to buy because of their low cost have given me terrible amounts of gas, or even prompted a bad case of the trots. Not so with ON's 100%, which provides quite a good meeting point between the low price of the gas-giving wheys and the high quality of the more expensive brands.
7) Nutrient Timing - After an intense workout, you need a quickly digested protein source to replenish your fatigued muscles and put a stop to the catabolism that will ensue. Due to its high bioavailability, whey is the quickest absorbed protein source. And of course, due to its convenience you can easily carry it to the gym in a shaker bottle and add water right over there. Some people also recommend having a scoop first thing in the morning to stop the catabolism that is prompted by sleeping. Personally I like to mix some in with my oatmeal, or if I have time such as on weekends, then make some chocolate protein pancakes.
8) Taste - Let's face it, if you are going to be consuming whey so regularly, you don't want it to taste pathetic. ON 100% Whey Chocolate isn't the best tasting whey on the market, but it certainly does the trick. It's reasonably rich if you mix it with a little bit of cold water (as I do), and it goes down smoothly and easily. In my years of serious training, once I discovered Optimum (early on), I've never switched completely to other brands; only now and then to compare tastes. I'm still very impressed with this one.
DISADVANTAGES:
1) Quick Absorption - Apart from the issue of nutrient timing - such as postworkout - you don't want a staple protein source in your diet to go in and out of your body so quickly that you need to refuel right after to keep catabolism at bay. Whey will stay in most individual's bodies for an hour and a half at most assuming they take it alone, though it could be less. Certainly, whey is no replacement for a whole foods meal or protein source.
2) Not the Absolute Best Ingredients - ON's 100% Whey can't stake its claim as having the best ingredients of all the options on the market. EAS's Precision Protein is an example of a product that outshines ON in this light, given its whey protein isolate base, minus all the hydrolyzed whey peptides that go into ON's 100% (which mean, unfortunately, that many of the critical whey microfractions are lost in the production process).
CONCLUSION:
If ON's 100% is used correctly and taken with good timing, one can certainly work around the issue of quick absorption and use it to one's advantage. As for the ingredients being very slightly sub-par, there is no doubt that for the cost of the product you can't get a better deal on a whey product. There is a good reason this is the number one selling supplement on Bodybuilding.com, and it is definitely the one supplement around which all your others should be based.
2) Syntrax Swole V2 -
BENEFITS:
1) Creatine Inclusion - Creatine is touted as a highly effective nutrient in increasing strength and muscle size, which has been confirmed in dozens of university studies. Swole V2 makes use of this potent ingredient in its product.
2) Universal Usage - Swole V2 is designed to work for creatine non-responders, those unforunate folks amongst us who don't see much of a difference from using the popular creatine in monohydrate form. Making use of Dicreatine malate, it gives you the many proven benefits of creatine in a highly soluble form that jumps over the nonresponder problem.
3) Pumps - They don't have all that much practical value, but the placebo effect from a good pump is undeniable. I for one love walking around with a bulging vein in my bicep, swollen up to well beyond my natural size. Of course, this isn't the chief purpose of a product, but it's nice to have it thrown in.
DISADVANTAGES:
1) Potentially Inhibitive to Growth - Swole V2 has come under attack from some sources for being dangerous due to the inclusion of Guanidinopropionic Acid as one of the ingredients, which led to retarded growth in lab rats (and other animals) in one study.
CONCLUSION:
Unfortunately, nearly all critics of Swole V2 have been found to be either competitors with Syntrax or associates of competitors, slightly diminishing their credibility. Nonetheless, Syntrax did address the safety issue with their claim that with their inclusion of Betaine in the ingredients (2 g. of Betapure Betaine Anhydrous/serving), the negative effects of the Guanidinopropionic Acid (500 mg./serving) are offset since Betaine can act as a methyl donor. The jury is still out, but if you were to go on apparent results, I'd recommend Swole V2 as one of the most effective supplements I've ever had.
3) HFS The Total EFA -
BENEFITS:
1) Growth - EFAs are often overlooked, but products like Health From The Sun's Total EFA provide Omega 3 (6,200 mg ALA/serving), Omega 6 (288 mg GLA/serving and 2,400 mg Linoleic Acid/serving) and Omega 9 (1850 mg. Oleic Acid/serving) acids, which are all utilized for your muscle cell walls and membrane fluids. Additonally, the Series 1 Prostaglandins in HFS's Total EFA will increase muscle cell protein synthesis. Basically, if you want to produce bigger muscles, EFAs will help you speed up the process.
2) Energy - EFAs are critical in the body's energy production. The primary function of fat itself is energy; in a product like this, all the "bad stuff" in fat is removed, and all the beneficial things left in. Ergo, you get the energy boost minus the waistline increase.
3) Hormone Production - Studies show that the body's production of all hormones (including testosterone) is sub-optimal with a dietary fat intake of under 100 g. daily for an average individual. Of course, we all don't need that much fat, that many calories or an "optimal" hormonal production, but HFS's Total EFA can help ensure that your hormones don't leave your gains hanging. Also, the Prostaglandins elevate growth hormone secretion.
4) Security - With the same logic many people apply to a multivitamin, some say that you can get all your EFA needs from your diet. This is certainly true, but a lot of people are unable to eat salmon and walnuts every day. Tuna is mostly eaten from a can, in which case you lose the EFAs anyway. Thus, unless you are certain you have a diet that satisfies all your EFA needs, an EFA supplement is a neccessary purchase.
5) Cost Effective - It's a reasonably cheap supplement.
DISADVANTAGES:
1) Taste - I don't mind it, but I know some people hate the taste. For them the capsule version may be the answer (plus it's convenient), although it's less economical.
CONCLUSION:
EFAs have no real disadvantages per se, and no real opposition either. They're essential to sedentary individuals (hence the name, "Essential Fatty Acids"), and completely unavoidable to bodybuilders.
Final notes -
The reason I didn't include multivitamins in my list is that I believe many (not all) of the "bodybuilder's multivitamins" on the market today are in essence overkill. They include mega-dosages that will most likely be excreted by the body, even in the most active individuals, and are priced high too. Instead, I use a basic drugstore product, and supplement it with individual vitamins that a bodybuilder might use more so than the regular individual. This works out cheaper and just as effective as any of those mega-pack multivitamin products. I've given a try to several of them, and have never noticed any differences from my method. (Note: This approach requires relatively extensive research of various vitamins)
Finally, I just want to wrap up by stating the obvious - supplements are not enough for muscle growth. Just like the name states, they're "supplements" to a good diet. They're the icing on the cake, not the cake itself. That said, with proper research and a good choice of supplements, you can maximize your gains and keep the ball rolling.

One should not completely depend upon supplement. Good nutrition is
the key for proper muscle growth. Natural supplements are good like
protein and creatine. One should not use steroids to grow their muscle
as life is more important than muscle growth. Some supplement which
contain illegal and harmful effects should not also be consumed like
ephedra.
Nowadays, supplement companies are earning millions from their
supplements. 1 simple serving of protein drink costs you about
$2 that can also be replaced by egg whites.
If you are very very serious and want to compete than only
supplements should be consumed. According to me one should
not buy protein drink because protein foods are available
like egg whites, chicken and tuna.
I also suggest not to take creatine because when you stop taking
creatine you will loose some water weight and you will look
smaller than you were before.
Glutamine is a good supplement because it helps you recover
and avoids overtraining. Glutamine should be consumed regularly
because its a very very much useful supplement.
Remember onething that supplements are not everything. They are
just pillar of a building but not the whole building. Your growth
depends mainly on your nutrition and training.
Weight gainers are also just a waste of money. A serving of weight gainer
has about 2000 calories. But it would be good if you get it from food sources
like chicken and beans.
To assist in developing lean muscle mass I would suggest that you take a good free
form amino acid capsule and good BCAAs.
I suggest 3 supplements which are as follow :
1) CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) is a fatty acid related to the omega-6
fatty acids one of the two types of essential fatty acids. Although CLA
(Conjugated Linoleic Acid) occurs naturally in meat and dairy products,
most people do not consume adequate amounts through diet alone.
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) has gained much acclaim for its safe and effective
weight-loss benefits. However, CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) is not just a weight-loss
wonder. In addition to promoting weight loss and reduced body fat, CLA (Conjugated
Linoleic Acid) enhances immunity, supports a healthy inflammation response and is
a potent provider of antioxidant protection.
Your increased lean muscle burns more calories in order to function, thereby speeding
up the fat burning process, which further slims your body. As a result, you lose fat in
all the right places. You drop a clothes size. You feel great. All this without the
dreaded yo-yo effect.
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid):
* Promotes decreases in body fat
* Support increases in lean body mass
* Maintain healthy inflammation response
* Enhances immune function
* Provides antioxidant protection
2) L- Carnitine
L-carnitine is another supplement that I have taken to burn fat and boost my
energy and muscle endurance. L-carnitine works by transferring long-chain
fatty acids, such as triglycerides into mitochondria where the compound is oxidized to
produce energy. I typically take 1 capsule, 3 x a day on an empty stomach.
L-Carnitine is a vitamin-like amino acid metabolite found only in red meat.
It is synthesized in the human body from the amino acid Lysine. Carnitine
plays a role in facilitating the transfer of fatty acid groups into the
mitochondrial membrane for energy production.
L- Cartine:
* Carnitine slows the aging process
* Carnitine keeps triglycerides low and raises HDL cholesterol
* Carnitine also helps prevent heart disease by enhancing the overall
health of the heart and by helping to prevent cardiac arrhythmias
* Carnitine helps promote weight loss
* Carnitine increases energy levels naturally
* Carnitine enhances sports performance and endurance and reduces the damage to the body that can occur during exercise
* L-carnitine natuarlly increases mental energy and helps relieve depression
* Carnitine enhances liver function
3) L- Glutamine
L-Glutamine is involved in maintaining a positive nitrogen balance
(an anabolic state) and is a regulator is a nitrogen transporter helps
prevent muscle wasting improves muscle recovery and has a cell-volumizing effect.
Since, intense workouts can reduce glutamine levels in the body are reduced by as
much as 50% and catabolism (muscle break down) can occur if the body is deficient
in regards to glutamine. Remember, glutamine is the most abundant amino acid found
in muscle tissue and 60% of free-form amino acids floating in skeletal muscles are
L-glutamine, so it is important that you replace the glutamine used if you want to make gains.
To minimize muscle catabolism and to speed up recovery time consider taking a good protein
meal with glutamine immediately following your work out (or 2 grams in capsule form).
Do not take any creatine at this time since glutamine and creatine compete for the same
absorption receptors. I have never used creatine because i know its a waste of money.
L- Glutamine:
* Increase Muscle Hardness
* Increase Protein Synthesis
* Increase Muscle Strength
* Enhances Recovery
* Increase Muscle Cell Hydration
Conclusion :
I have never said to avoid whey protein. Its good but protein is simply available in
other foods also. If you dont have time to cook food han protein shake can work
for you.
You should only use meal replacement powders and protein bar when you are busy
other wise get into the kitchen and cook the food.
"DONOT COMPLETELY DEPEND ON SUPPLEMENTS", As they only help reaching your goals
but they dont promise you that they will let you reach your goals.
I wona get $50 this time ....

1. Meal Replacement Powder
It is more important than simple whey protein. One of the most important things in making gains and burning fat is to eat multiple small meals per day. MRP's allow you to take in at least 6 meals per day consistently. They are more complete than simple whey protein, in fact they contain whey plus carbs, essential fats, fiber and vitamins and minerals. They are the most complete supplement out there. Nowadays the new formulas use low glycemic, high fiber, quality carbs as well.
2. Multivitamin
Nutritional insurance, this should be a base supplement for everyone.
3. Creatine monohydrate
Still the best, most proven, time tested and studied form of creatine.

1. - Whey Protein
* Postworkout protein along with carbs is a must in order to feed your muscles so you maximize your gains!
* Helps you to get extra protein in an easy way while dieting
* It digest fast by the body and fuels fatigued muscles.
* Quick way to get a meal full of protein while busy, etc.
* It can be hard to get enough protein per pound with only eating regular food. You can get like 20-40g average from one 500ml protein shake.
2. - Creatine Monohydrate
* Creatine fuels your muscles. Creatine is made naturally by your body BUT taking extra creatine increases your energy levels!
* You're able to lift heavier weights while taking creatine than while not using creatine.
* I even take creatine half of the time while cutting. It gives you a good energy boost while energy levels lower as you're cutting.
* Helps you keeping your head up high in weight training while cutting.
* Creatine causes water retention, so your muscles look bigger and fuller.
3. - L-Glutamine
* Helps your muscles to recover MUCH faster.
* Minimizes the breakdown of muscle tissue while doing cardio.
* Helps your immune system!! (Im immune for grass and such things and it really helps.)
If I could only take three supplements I would take the USANA Essentials, Proflavanol 90 and Procosa 2. The essentials are the number one multi vitamin in North America and are listed in the Physician Desk Reference the pharmaceutical version. Yes pharmaceutical –grade. The essentials consist of 39 nutrient categories, consisting of 17 vitamins or vitamin-like factors, 14 minerals, 3 phytonutrient complexes and 5 other nutritional factors. As we all know the FDA does not regulate nutritional supplements. USANA is registered with the FDA as a pharmaceutical manufacturer. Also listed in PDR Proflavanol 90. Proanthocyanidins are distributed to virtually every organ and tissue, and remain in the body for up to 72 hours. Proanthocyanidins may be bioavailable and are absorbed from the stomach into the bloodstream. Not only do Proanthocyanidins neutralize free radicals themselves, but they conserve and regenerate vitamins C and E. Vitamin E is a powerful free-radical scavenger, and flavonols and vitamin C regenerate vitamin E. Also listed in the PDR USANA's advanced Procosa II offers a higher amount of glucosamine sulfate for support and maintenance of cartilage. Not only that, but Procosa II contains a revolutionary COX-II inhibitor that comes in the natural form of turmeric. Glucosamine and turmeric are powerful ingredients that work together to provide lasting support for your joints that cannot be found in any other joint formula products. The most powerful formulation on the market. For any questions and or comments PM me

1. BCAA - #1 would definitely have to be BCAA. I know this may run counter to what everybody is saying, BUT a lot of us do aerobics/cardio after weight training, more important than creatine (which you have to cycle), you have to take in 3 to 6 grams of BCAA's prior to doing the aerobics. I gained 1/4 inch on my arms, 1/2 inch on my chest, 1/2 inch on my thighs as a result of taking BCAA prior to aerobics and eating a 3:1 ratio of carbs to protein post-workout 60g carb to 20g protein (30g simple carb, 30g complex carb). As for some people that cannot afford protein powders, non/low fat milk and a nice peanut butter sandwich is an excellent substitue.
2. Multivitamins - I know, people say if you eat a balanced diet you don't need it. But as bodyuilders moving weights beyond our bodyweight, something's going to give. From my own empirical evidence, when I took the multivitamins I didn't notice anything, it's when I stopped taking it I noticed sore joints, sluggishness (or is it psychological????) and some lack of energy.
3. Any MRP - with casein such as Met Rx. The slow release is great for nighttime growth. I normally wouldn't put this in the top 3. But I live in South Korea now, and as advanced as the country has become, I can't find cottage cheese!!!!!!!!! If I could find cottage cheese here I would have ranked creatine (isn't it ironic, I have to buy all my supplements here via black market, LOL) despite the fact you have to cycle it.
On an English teacher's salary, the multivitamin, the MRP (bought black market) and the BCAA's(bought black market), black market it's anywhere from 30 to 60% more expensive than if bought from the States :( don't kill me. So I eat a lotta peanut butter and milk to substitute.

Simple no need for a huge explanation
PROTEINS 1 & 2
>IF THEIR IS ONE SUPPLEMENT EVERYONE NEEDS BEFORE TRAINING, DURING TRAINING, AFTER TRAINING AND WHILE SLEEPING ITS PROTEIN<
1) WHEY protein
-Supply on demand
2) CASEIN protein
-Sustained supply
PROTEINS are essential to our bodies. They are essential for the building and maintain of our muscles and are needed for every other regenerative process in the body. The amino acids are the building blocks of our bodies. Both proteins contain many amino acids which not only aid in nutrition but also increase the uptake of nutrients from other foods and boost the immune system.
3) It all depends what does it for you we all need protein from both sources but other then that it all depends what product does it for the individual. A multivitamin is universal although many who have a complete diet don’t need them. ZMA, Creatine, Glutamate, HMB etc take your pick no one knows what works for you except you but what works for everyone and what everyone needs is
PROTEIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1- multivitamin . building our bodies up or even just being fit is much like building a house. first you need to have a solid foundation which i believe is found in a multi , plus to get all the minerals and vitamins without one ,we would need to eat many more calories making it impossible to show our muscles off. Also in a world of bulking and cutting with nutrient defficient diets it is imperative to have a multi at your side to keep you functioning properly in a unsatiated and muscle starving caloric intake.
2- branch chain amino acids .as most of us know aminos are the final product of protien . again with diet if in a low caloric state or even in a high , if we do not have amino acids readily available our very smart human body will decide that it needs some for proper muscle function . therefore it will take stored amino acids (and yes they are stored in our muscles ) and use them for the exertion we are creating by working out. now if the goal is hypertrophy (muscle growth) this definatly would not be the best way to go . thats why by supplementing with them your body always has some at hand.
3-whey meal replacement powder-- having enough protien to grow is definatly very importient since muscle is made of it. again for a bulking diet and yet even more a low calorie diet , to keep the hard earned muscle thet we are trying to show off .the powder is also very easy to mix up and feed muscles right after a work out when they need it most, and a good nutritional choice if not given a chance to eat(hence the meal replacement) although we would never want to miss a meal. I chose way because it has the best bio availabity and use.
so there are my three choices for sups. as i firmly believe sups are a great aid in bodybuilding , fitness and everyday life but the foundation of supplements should always be a clean healthy diet lifestyle and as always plenty of water.

1.Whey Protein Isolate:This is needed to supplement your diet.It should be easy to mix as a Blender is not always there for people on the "go "and many products do not mix properly and retain a "clumpy" composition. It should have zero carbs and fats in order to enable the body builder to use another form of carbs and fats so as not to limit the Protein intake from the Isolate thus allowing for different goals of Body Builders where the Protiein ratio of 1.0-1.5 grams per pound of body weight is constant but the fat and carb intakes may differ. I prefer "Nectar" by Syntrax that has 90% protein and no sugar, fat or carbs and has a fruity taste.
2. BCAA: Needed to supplement and insure the needs of the body as the more active a person then the faster basic and necessary amino acids are depleted and need to be replenished.
3. Vitamins: Self Explanatory as the body needs vitamins.

1/ Whey protein shake: Due to its fast release this should be taken in three crucial moments: Before the work out to prevent muscle breakdown. Using the window theory its really good within 45 minutes after the workout to rapidly overcome the catabolic effects of training. Upon rising, muscles wake up hungry after 8 hours of starvation and suplementing it will help us to set our body in anabolic mode.
2/ Mix protein shake containig whey protein and casein or milk protein. The presence of casein or milk protein will slowdown the digestion of the protein, even when the whey protein is present. For this reason this mixture is good for a meal replacement shake. Also adding some carbs like oatmeal aswell as a fat source with essential fatty acids will complete the equation of a pefect meal replacement shake.
3/ Multivitamin and mineral formula: Vitamins and minerals are nutrients that are essential to life. They are required in relatively small amounts, if compared with the amounts of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats that bodybuilders need. In general, vitamins function as coenzymes, meaning that they work together with an enzyme in reactions occurring in the body. Every process taking place in our bodies is controlled by an enzyme. Without the participation of enzymes we could not live, and without vitamins the enzymes would be unable to function. The body relies upon a steady supply of vitamins and minerals to function at optimum levels.

I did not mention Creatine since it causes myself and others to gain weight. Some people want to bulk up and some want to be lean and muscular etc.In most cases Creatine does not allow for that choice.Vitamins are essential to life and to prevent certain diseases.

I think that before someone begins to take supplements they should lay out a detailed meal plan. Supplements are meant as an "aid" not as a steady diet or a meal itself. Many people think that they need to take supplement when bodybuilding. I think this is a myth that should be explained to many new, and even advanced athletes.
As for the supplement, the top 3 that I would choose are Whey Protein, Multi-Vitamin and
Creatine.
Whey Protein is a very effective supplement for bodybuilders and any other kind of athlete. It has many advantages, only some of which I will highlight.
Whey protein is a cheap and quick way to supply your body with sufficient amounts of protein that was missed during your diet. It is quickly absorbed and can easily help bodybuilders reach the "recommended" of 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. The great taste of this in a shake is also a perk of Whey Protein. Whey Protein helps to increase lean muscle mass of an
athlete. It also can help with weight loss. You can provide your body with sufficient amounts of protein needed for muscle growth and recovery while keeping calories to a minimum. Whey protein can also be used by those who are lactose intolerant. It contains very low levels of lactose which make it friendly to those with the condition. Whey protein also contains many amino acids, one of which is arginine. This is an amino acid that may increase levels of growth hormone in the body.
The second supplement I would have to choose is high potency Multi-Vitamin. Now lets face it people, it is very hard to get all the vitamins needed for the body through a regular diet. That’s where Multivitamins come in. Multivitamins should be taken by everyone, but more so for
bodybuilders. Weight training increases the body's need for many vitamins and minerals. Taking multivitamins ensures that a person does not become low in any of the essential vitamins or minerals. Vitamin deficiency symptoms can include muscle weakness and weakening of the immune system, muscle cramping and a general body fatigue. Each of these 29 essential vitamins
and minerals does its own part to help the body recover, help in protein synthesis and keep the immune system in good working order. This is a must for any kind of bodybuilder.
The third supplement I would have to choose is Creatine. Anyone who reads these boards probably knows one thing or another about Creatine. Creatine can do a bodybuilder wonders in the gym. But it is not the magic supplement that will make you the huge bodybuilder that you want to become. Creatine will enhance your workout in many ways. First of all, it will provide you with more energy due to ATP regeneration. It also give your muscles a strength boost which can be very effective for packing on some hard muscle mass. If Creatine is taken properly and backed up with proper diet and a proper workout it will help you put on some mass. Some of this mass will be water, due to the water retention properties of the supplement. But it will make you
look fuller overall. Because of this water retention property, the user of this supplement is required to intake higher levels of water to keep the body from becoming dehydrated.
These 3 supplements helped me in many ways with my bodybuilding progression. But that does not mean that they will provide the same benefits for every person out there. Everyone reacts differently to supplements. And you must remember that supplements are virtually useless if they are not combined with proper eating habits and hard work in the gym .

2.Whey Protein (Optimum Whey) - Everybody knows you need protein to grow muscle. Excellent supplement for those busy bodies who are always on the go. (work) Great protein ratio, bioavailability, and bang for a buck!
3.Glutamine (Prolab/Optimum/Ultimate) - Excellent for recovery. Definite must for recuperation and keeping my body in an anabolic state. With low carb/low calorie diet, this supplement will keep you afloat in the iron game!

alright here are my three.
1) VPX MICELLEAN BIOACTIVE SUPERFOOD- you ask why? It has a nasty taste. Well yes but it has so many nutrients that you could easily get from a multivitamin. It provides a decent amout of protein. The 7 hour despersion of the protein is awesome. Cassein protein is so hard to find other companies using. Besides it's VPX baby, you know it works and you can trust it.
2) Syngex II by VPX. It's like a light prosteroid. You can use it for mass, strenght and hardness. Perfect for bodybuilders who are in their contest prep stage like myself. You can stack it with so many things like decavar, gangsta, m-1t, mad 250 and the list goes on. You get a large bottle and it lasts a long while. The technology they use in their delivery is second to none. VPX, it's money well spent.
3) Anabolic Milk by Optimum Nutrition is completely cool. Both whey and cassein protein. The amounts of protein which is given is monsterous. It is a newer product and has plenty of the essential bodybuilding components that are needed.

Based on the products that i have used i would most definitetly say the top three supplements i would use would have to be:
1) A creatine transport system such as : MuscleTech's CELL-TECH which has always been good for quick mass.
2) A high quality protien/wieght gainer with an decent amount of calories, carbs, and of course PROTEIN.
3) A combination of Amino Acids and Vitamins

1.)Multi Vitamin/Mineral
People are always talking about essential fatty acids, essential amino acids... but vitamins and minerals are overlooked, Mostly by those people who are looking for a quick fix. Some would say that protein and amino acids are the building blocks of muscle...i say it all starts with multi vitamins/minerals!!
2.)19-Nordiol (Ergopharm)
High priest of the andro's 19-nordiol is by far 2nd to none in prohormones (and yes that is from personal experiance.) No conversion to DHT or estrogen and it has the highest conversion to it's target hormone. Ergopharm has done a great job in making a quality product in significant dosages. It's fairly safe and effective!!! BUT ONLY IF YOUR SMART ABOUT IT!! abuse of prohormones is not only a waste of money but more importantly a disgrace to bodybuilding. It's because of people who miss use them that give decent, honorable prohormone users a bad name in the never ending media attention that is now making androgens a controversy. It's all about common sense and being smart. I personaly use for 4 weeks and take off for about 4 weeks.
3.)Off-Cycle (Fizogen)
Being a prohormone user supplementing natural test. boosters is a gift from god (next to bodybuilding.) Fizogen has made it happen with significant amounts of Tribulous Terrestris and Cissus Quadrangularis, and a combination of growth hormone stimulating compounds, ingredients which effectively aid in the removal of harmful toxins from the body and supports your liver, and not to mention DHT blockers. But it doesnt stop there...It also inhances insulin sensitivity (questionable) and Hydroxyecdysone which plays an amazing role in protein synthesis by making a perfect enviroment in the body for muscles to grow. Finaly Gastro-intestinal Digestion Infusion Agents which help you digest more effectively, so it can still help build muscle, and regain natural test. levels.
Still Lifting,

Here is my top three from expirence and extensive research.
I seriously find creatine to be a useless supplement and do not like it at all, but it works for some people so i guess i'm just weird. Anyways, here is my top three.
1)Obviously some sort of whey protein or mrp, i am a student so i can't expect to have 6 real food meal through the day so i basically depend on these for half the day. I find ON's 100% whey to be the best so far and i expect to stay with it right now due to my tight budget.
2)Universal animalpak multivitamin is a staple of my gym bag, this is by far the most important supplement and it's no BS.
3)Universal Animal M-stak is also a very good supplement from my expirence and it's completely natural and harmless. except the freaky growth speed that earned me some controversial opinions from peers. but, keep in mind this sh*t is not the cheapest thing you'll buy.
Here are my top 3 and i hope it's helpful to people, and if you have touble getting lean, u might want to try out Animal-cut which is also by universal nutritions.

2 - ON Creatine 2500 Caps (best bang for your buck - I take these first thing in the morning with my multi-vitamin).
3 - Maximuscle Cyclone Bars (this is a UK suppliment company - their Cyclone bars make an excellent post-workout snack).

Top 3 Supplements and why I think they are great:
1. Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein
Helps to achieve my targeted Protein intake without loading me with unwanted extras e.g. carbs, fat. It's cheap and it tastes Goooood!!
2. Syntrax Swole V2
Cos this stuff rocks. Never experienced such a change in size (positively) and the pumps just kick ass!
3. Water (Lots of it!!)
How many people do I see everyday who struggle to drink a litre a day?? I made the change and noticed the difference immediately. I now drink 6 litres a day.
Water is a requirement for the human body...your body only happens to be made of it, well at least 70% of it. Water helps keep the liver clean, keeps your metabolism ticking over and provides a medium for the fat to be dissolved in when you aim to reduce fat content in the body. What's more......ITS FREEEEEE!!!

1.On Whey 100% Whey Protein in 10lb bag
This is a great value and was also voted on of the top protein powder by Muscle and Fitness. It is also instatized and shakes well with no clumping.
2.Ultimate Nutrition Creatine Monohydrate
Ultimate Nutrition makes amazing products at affordable prices. I've been cycling this for years no and it is how I went from 200lb to 240lb over 1.5 years.
3. Animal Pak Multivitamins
Simply the best multivitamin on the market contains the daily dose of everything my body need including anti-oxidants. A good dose multivitamin is essential beacause no one can get the recomended intake from one pill.
These three supplements have really stopped people I knew from highschool right in their tracks. At 6'4" 200lb I looked like everyone else but at 240lb with a pair of 19" guns it makes it tougher to go overlooked. I owe of course to a hard work ethic and the extra edge these three suplements have provided me.

the three supplements i would use are:
Protein - I like one with a good mix of different kinds of protein (ex. casein, isolate) A protein mix would provide you with fast acting protein and some slower digesting protein to sustain you for longer and enhance anabolism
Creatine - Because i could only take 3 supplements i would choose a formula
I like Dymatize's Power tech, the formula would give you the creatine and a few other nutrients while spiking your insulin a bit to enhance absorbtion
BCAAs - A good mix of essential aminos that are metabolized in your muscles
Out of all of the aminos to eat more of these are a good choice because they comprise a large part of the aminos in your muscles and are metabolized for energy quite often making it important to take more of them

The top 3 supplements actually depends on the goal we're trying to achieve, for instance:
>> For gaining lean muscle mass, these would be my top 3:
1. Whey Protein (Optimum Nutrition)
a) Reaching daily protein requirements for muscle building (1-1.5 grs per pound of lean body mass)
b) For a quickly-absorbed protein for post-workout
c) For eating before bed, to prevent muscle wasting. Although whey is not as good as casein for that purpose, the fast digestion of whey can be slowed down by consuming it with milk (source of fat and casein, along with some extra whey), a bowl of oatmeal (complex carbs), and a tablespoon of EFA's).
NOTE: There's no need to supplement with BCAA's or Glutamine, as Whey protein already contains plenty of it.
When eating 1-1.5 grs of protein per pound of lean body mass, it's common to consume about 30-70% from whey each day to meet that requirement. Therefore, with whey having about 4 grs of Glutamine and 19 grs of BCAA's for a 23 serving (ON's 100% Whey taken as the example), it wouldn't be something wise to waste your money on something you already have.
2. Maltodextrin
a) Insulin spike post workout (maltodextrin is a very high GI carb, even that's classfied as a complex carbohydrate). This insulin spike serves as an antidote of the muscle-wasting hormone cortisol
b) When consumed after a workout, it quickly repletes your liver and muscle glycogen stores.
Maltodextrin must be taken along with whey protein (to take advantage of increased protein synthesis in the 1-hour window of opportunity), and water (better to use water, as milk [because of the casein in it)] in the same way as fats, would slow down the digestion).
NOTE: In my opinion, drinking this protein / carb blend after your workout can determine whether you get maximum gains in lean body mass and a steady and constant progress, or not.
3. Multivitamin/Multimineral (Optimum Nutrition)
Athletes and bodybuilders have way different requirements than average people (a good example is protein, as the average requirement is about 0.4-0.6 grs per pound of body weight, while for the bodybuilder, it's 1-2 grs per pound), therefore, they must supplement with a multi-vitamin to be sure they are not deficient in any vital vitamin or mineral. An example would be vitamins of the B complex, which play a major role in the digestion of proteins, carbs, and fats.
NOTE: A good rule of thumb is to check how much of the daily requirement each multivitamin serving contains, as sometimes they are over-loaded. 1 or half of a serving, along with a balanced diet, should be enough.
----
>> For losing weight and retaining as much muscle as possible:
1. Whey Protein (Optimum Nutrition)
a) Essential for preserving muscle mass while on a reduced-calorie diet
b) For reaching the maintainance daily protein requirement (1-1.5 grs per pound of lean body mass)
c) For a low-fat, quick-absorbing source of high quality protein (an increased intake of protein increases metabolism due to the Thermic Effect of a Meal)
2. Cottage Cheese or Casein / Egg Protein
Since calories must be reduced below the maintainance level, one must reduce the intake of some carbs, and since one's body goes over a long period of fasting when we sleep, our body may be forced to use muscle as fuel to generate glucose (gluconeogenesis) for supplying energy during sleep, thus, losing the hard-earned muscle along with the fat, which is something nobody would want.
Cottage cheese (or casein/egg protein) serves as a delayed, slow-absorbing protein for providing the body a slow-paced but steady flux of protein to the muscles over the period of sleep, thus preventing the lose of lean body mass.
3. Essential Fatty Acids (flax, grapseed, or canola oils)
EFA's play an essential role in losing fat, as they (specially Omega-3 fatty acids):
a) Block fat storage (beta-blockers)
b) Are anti-catabolic
c) Promote a postive nitrogen balance
d) Increase fat burning (beta-oxidation)
e) Promote optimum hormone production and a healthy circulatory system.
NOTE: One must not exaggerate while on a cutting phase on the fat intake, even if they are most EFA's, as fats provide 9 calories per gram, thus increasing the calorie intake substantially. A good rule of thumb is to consume only the 15-20% of your calories from fat when trying to lose weight and retain as much muscle as possible.

Hope this post helps :)

I would definately not give up these three;
-NO-Xplode
-Nitrix
-Joint Maintenance
We know we need creatine, NO has great feedback, and joint supplements are found to give great results, and aid your bodies production of cartilage. To me as a cross-training lifter I need a joint supplement, but if I didnt do so much running id nix that for a protein supplement. Although i know i can only pick three i do take protein because well, i dont exactly get 180 grams in my meals. To build you need the essential proteins that build muscle fibers. Ive noticed a great pump from Nitrix alone, and from many other NO supplements such as NOX or NO2. NO-Xplode really does deliver supplemnts you feel. Honestly, I feel liek I can lift more when I take this supplement. I use Andro-Poppers as well, and some Jolt Gum to get me enraged at that weight. But even without those the NO-Xplode and Nitrix gave me great pumps, and awesome energy. Try em out, you can get them for really cheap. And as for the protein, make sure its good stuff. Just like you wouldnt put crappy food in your body, make sure the protein is high quality, from a reputable brand. Even the generic ones are good. But as I said earlier, if youre running, joint supplements with MSM and condroitin are essential. Dont let your knees go before your heart does.

Probably everyone will include creatine as one of their three. Ditto here. I have tried all of the fancy forms and nothing is better than the original; in its pure and unadulterated form. That rock-hard pump in my shoulders, pecs and arms for hours after a decent workout makes me feel like I am really accomplishing something. It's a great feeling. I take 5 grams per day, about a half hour before my workout. For my number two supplement I would have to choose any one of the better NO2 products for a 3 gram daily dose of L-Arginine. It really seems to enhance the pump. Also, when my 8th rep is killing me, and that little voice goes off in my head that tells me I'll never complete number 9 or 10, the NO2 seems to give me that extra bit of push to grit my teeth and finish the job. Let's put it this way; when I don't take it, I do notice the difference. Third for me would be a tie between any good multi vitamin, which I take 2 or 3 times a day, and L-Glutamine. The Glutamine really softens the edges of the aches and pains after a hard workout. I take 5 grams at the end of the day with my evening protein shake. Yikes! Protein shakes! I didn't even consider those as a supplement! Hey, can I pick more than 3 supps? Well, that's about it. I guess I would survive without my big 3, but having them as part of my regimen makes what I do so much more enjoyable and gratifying. Thanks for allowing me to express my views.

For me:
1. creatine - my strength and size greatly increased as I added this supp
2. glutamine - for weight loss and muscle repair
3. protein (in various forms - mrp's, protein drinks and bars) - to add protein to my diet without adding tons of calories and carbs

Its so hard to choose just 3 supplements that are best for you... you need a lot of things.
1. Whey Protein - I cant say what kind is best.. but protein is definitely key. I mean without protein how are ya gonna build muscle? The amino acids in most whey products are also very helpful.
2. Creatine - It's proven to give great muscle gains... enough said there.. once again i've only tried a few so im not for sure whats best..
3. Multi vitamin - Gotta have them. Mega men or something of the sort is great.
Tons of other things needed but those are key

1. Whey Protein
Everybody needs protein to stay alive and stay active so Optimum's whey protein is a good choice. It contains 23 gms. of high quality whey protein per serving and 2 grams of sugar. Just have to take 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight per day and all your basic protein need are over for the day.
2. Micronized Creatine
Everybody knows the benefits of creatine. They maximise our size and help us lift more and do more reps. Although Creatine monohydrate can be taken but i would use Micronized creatine so that the bloated feeling in the stomach does not stay there, AST Micronized creatine would be a good one. And it absorbs 20 times better than regular Creatine monohydrate. People have complained lesser stomach problems while using Micronized creatine.
3.Chromium Picolinate
Chromium Picolinate has many many features. It is known for its insulin like growth effect in the body. It burns fat and increases lean body mass. It can also increase the life span of a person. Higher power Chromium Picolinate comes at a very cheap price and is a good choice.
Overall Chromium Picolinate is cheap, does not cause any side effects
like m1t and HGH and yet has many positive effects on the body.

1. Whey Protein
In order to be a successful bodybuilder a person must consume sufficient protien. Many people have different opinions on this matter but I believe gram for every pound in body weight is a must. So with this in mind this is why I rate whey protein as such an important supplement. Many people often have a hard time meeting their requirements for protein through diet. Although it can be done, whey protein aides in being able meet or exceed these requirements, thus enabling a superior nutritional program.
2. Branch Chained Amino Acids
This supplement is often times overlooked in its importance. Amino acids are very crucial in building muscle tissue. The body can only produce a small amount of amino acids naturally, and thus those that cannot be manufactured in the body can only be attained through diet or supplements. This is the reason that this supplement can be very beneficial to the dedicated athlete.
3. Creatine
Creatine has been around for nearly ten years now, and there is good reason for its longevity in the supplement market, it works. This supplement has been shown to increase athletic performance in a wide variety of athletes with little or no proven side affects to it. Personally my body does not respond well to creatine, but non the less this supplement is great for any athlete looking to improve his/her athletic ability.
Although the food in your diet is not considered a supplement, if your nutritional program is not intact don't even bother using supplements. Make sure you have a good grasp of nutrition and follow it, and it can work better than most supplements.

1) ABB Ripped force, to give me energy that comes on quick and lasts my entire workout, tastes great too! (before workout)
2) TrAC, to maximize my creatine and amino acid loading, while boosting my Nitric Oxide and Insulin Levels, gives my one hell of a pump. (during workout)
3) Muscle MIlk, with endocreatine and essential fatty acids. this great tasting shake replaces all the protein, carbs, and "good fats" I lost during a my training. (post workout)

I make sure to have these three supplements in my pantry all the time.
-a good multivitamen (I prefer animal pack)(what type of person would I be if I didn't include this one)
-Protien Shake mix (I'll take anything as long as it has protien, but the lower the carbs and fat the better)
-Protien bars (to help stop those hunger pains during the day when I need a quik snack)
Even when I'm not training I use these three to help me stay in shape, and so when I start training again I won't be set too far back.

1) Protein- For anybody who is devoted to weight training and more specifically bodybuilding at any level, protein is the foundation of their nutrition. The basic building block for gaining lean muscle, a lifter without protein is a lifter with no gains, plain and simple.
2) Creatine- The isnt much to say about it. Its proven by scientific studies (and documented) and on a smaller scale, it is proven by anyone who uses it in a gym that you may talk tou. An absolute necessity for someone looking for an increase in size and recovery (especially for natural bodybuilding).
3) Nitric Oxide- This is just my opinion. I have used nitric oxide for quite sometime on and off and i must say that i notice when im on it and when im not. When using NO2 i feel more focused, more intense, and the pump surges through my muscles after every set. It is truly something that is revolutionizing the world of weight lifting/bodybuilding. A lot of people may say that multivitimans are a necessity but i believe that by eating a proper diet specific for your requirements, those vitimans can be obtained without spending more money on the pill form. Thats all from me.

Here's my list:
1. Whey Protein powder
- I can always get protein from whole foods throughout the day but I need something that I can use post workout that is easily absorbed by my body (and muscles) because it is during this "window" (the first 30-60 minutes post workout) that my muscles need protein FAST!!! and whey protein is the answer! it's fast digesting/absorbing, so I can get my muscle-building protein at the time when my muscles need it the most!
2. Cell-Tech (Creatine)
- for size and strength! we all know that post workout, the glycogen and ATP stores in our muscle cells (and the liver too) are depleted, and those stores have to be replenished FAST (first 30-60 minutes post workout), otherwise catabolism (or muscle breakdown) will set in! Cell-tech, with its formulation, effeciently drives creatine into the muscle cells, replenishing both the glycogen stores and ATP (for quick bursts of strength). That way, you get both an increase in size (because u prevented catabolism and because some amount of water goes with the glycogen/creatine mix that is delivered into the muscle cells), and the strength to tackle your next day's crazy workout!
3. Multivitamins
- strength training not only depletes your glycogen stores, but it also puts a lot of stress to the different body systems/organs. it also causes the release of free radicals (which damage the healthy cells) that, if not taken cared of ASAP, will cause a decrease in the immune system response leading to colds, flu, generalized weakness, etc... which will negatively impact your training. Multivits (together with the proper diet which includes fruits and veggies) will help fight these free radicals and strengthen your immune system to keep you in peak performance, in and out of the gym.

1) Protein is the foundation without it you may run ionto some trouble
ON vanilla protein 10lbs. 4x a day
2) Higher Power Creatine Mono.
2 a day befaore and after workout, and of course cycle.
3) Multi-Vitamins- IMPORTANT, vitamins will fill in the nutrient gaps
Can anyone recommedned a better creatine?
Has anyone tried chocolate flavor ON whey protein? WAS IT ANY GOOD?

1. PROTEIN POWDER - whey, egg, blends - pretty much any type except straight soy. I use several different types and I like to mix them to get varying absorption rates, depending on when I'm taking the protein. Protein drinks are the only way to get the higher amounts needed each day to gain muscle mass.
2. CREATINE - I pretty much try to use a pure pharmacutical grade powder if I can find it. Ive tried most of the new transport added types of creatine and have not really noticed any difference, except for occasional stomach upset. A good basic creatine used every day helps boost my strength levels.
3. VITAMIN PACK - a daily multi- vitamin and mineral pack is essential to help fill in the gaps in our diets. A good mega pack with high amounts and time release works best. I prefer Beverly International's Super Pack.

I think everyone has great reccomendations on their favorite supplements but I think it's a mistake to say certain things are supps. A few of you guys said it great when things are NEEDED. Those would be Water, Vitamins, Protein and Carbs (in the right amounts). I say at least a gallon of water a day for everyone and 2 for those who work out extremely hard. Vitamins and a good diet are a must and how can you build muscle without protein and carbs? Then we can talk supps after that.
My favorite right now is NO-Xplode...one guy said it sucks. And for him and others it may. But for my body, it is probably the best thing i've ever used for the extreme pumps and other benefits'. What's good for one doesn't mean it's good for everyone else. Everyone should try out different products, use them correctly and see for themselves. But one things certain, don't waste your money if your not going to bust your ass in the GYM. I've heard people say they don't want to over work themselves but they also say, "Yeah, I work out 4 times a week for an hour or so a day". I think if you are spending the money, you should be getting your moneys worth in the gym.
P.S. Also, don't forget to get sleep and take breaks once in a while.

My first supplement I would choose would be Whey mix/protein shake preferfelablely Nitro Tech. Nitro Tech has alot of helpful compents that help when it comes to bodybuilding. Nitro Tech has Amino Acids which can help or not help you depending on your goals. Methionine which may prevent fat build help can be helpfull to a bodybuilder. Muscles need to recover, without giving protein to the body, no madder what brand or food, Muscles will not begin to recover/rebuild. One needs to know when pushing muscles to failure, you need something to grow/rebuild. This is why I choose Whey/protein mix. Remember allways look to see what exactly your taking either it be just a protein or protein and hormomes in it. Make sure to allways do your research
Key Points
1.)Not going to build muscle without it unless Protein is used
2.)Depending on the brand may have help benefits. Including Amino Acids
3.)Which can help tissue repair/ Help increase growth hormone/ and even Blood-sugar regulation.
4.) Help to increase Strenght
My second supplment Would be creatine. Creatine will help increase mass/bodyweight. Most people want to increase Strenght or just simply put on 5-10 of muscle, Or maybe both. I have used Creatine and have got great results. Somebody should notice a increase of body mass very quickly.
Key Points
1.) Help Increase Bodyweight/mass.
2.) Provide additional energy for your muscles.
3.) Make muscles Larger.
4.)Buffers lactic acid.
My third Would have to be a mulitvitiem. The reason is that muscle need to rebuild. There are some key minerals that need to be used in rebuilding the muscle. One needs to know the imporance of geting enough minerals. Muscle require other key minerals/Vitamins. Protein just doesnt work by itself. It needs other thing including zinc, B6.
Key Points
1.) Mltivitiem will help the process with protein.
2.) Other key minerals/Vitamins. Help with hair, hormomes,
3.) Needed for function of the body/humans.
Thanks I hope somebody has learned something from this

1) Whey Protein...without a shadow of a doubt the single most importent supp (obvious reasons)

1-Creatine (vpx CEX) the best creatine I ever used
-Massive pumps and great strenth gains
-No cramps
-No loading
2-Beef liver tabs (Beverly Ultra 40's)
-More energy
-All the vitamines you need
-Darker hair
-Great protein source
3-Protein powders (100% Whey)
-Packed with bcaa's
-Tastes good
-Very cost effective
-Convience
-Gives you the chance to formulate your own gainer
If all I had was these 3 supps and a solid program my gains would be fantastic.

Whey Protein: WP is the only way I can get my minimun protein intake daily. I'm also lactose intolerent so WP is a Godsend for me. Back in the mid 90s before Designer put out whey protein, I had to take lactaid pills with my Met-Rx or milk protein. I would spend 38.95 on a 2 pound can of Designer because it was something my body could actually use.
Next is Multi vitamins and minerals. This would usually be Twinlabs Dual Tabs or NSP Athlete's Pack. I would like to try Animal packs someday as they look like they could be worth the money, only from BB.com of course.
And next is a EFA blend. I think after read Udo's book and Sears' book on
EFAs, they are truly an essential, hence the term "Essential" fatty acid.

There are many different choices. People are correct when they say Whey Protein, but they are overlooking the fact that it should be ISOLATE. Multivitamins are great for health and there is little to go wrong with them. Creatine is great but can be fraudulent and you must make sure that your creatine is legit. I take many supplements and I've usually been on the money but not always sure what works or not cuz im usually on multiple things. Nanovapor always gives me a pump and great preworkout intensity/and energy. Endothil seemed to work when I was using it but I'm unsure if it was something else or not. 17HD and P6 are great and at least get you in the mindset. Heres my choices.... (off the top of my head, with only research ive done in the past and no copying from elsewhere)
1) Testosterone Boosters- I've noticed many people overlook the testosterone boosters and I'm a firm believer in them if you find a legit one. Testosterone is what makes a man a man and helps build muscle, its what makes a bad a$$ a bad a$$, and it has so many other benefits including enhanced libido, increased energy, increased production of red blood cells. Energy is crutial because the dreaded crash will stop a lifter in his tracks. More red blood cells is more of a health factor than muscle builder, but it does help. Libido is basically your sex drive, which has little to do with lifting but is a wonderful added effect. I believe test-boosters put you in a mind set to achieve and makes you more confident and aggressive. Let's face it, without the INTENSITY and willingness to bang out that last rep you are hurting yourself greatly. All the creatine in the world wouldn't help you without lifting and lifting hard. Testosterone boosters help your mindset, muscle, and health. I'd reccommend 17-HD (worked well for me with natural ingredients like yam extract, which is similar to human DNA/testosterone) or P6 (first supplement I used and it's a bit pricey and hard to find but its the real deal. I've never had such intense workouts and it was so strong in its early days that they took it off the market. They brought it back but many places refuse to sell it because of its strength. It may be weaker now than when it first came out.
=Intensity, muscle builder, health factor
2) Whey Protein ISOLATE!- Whey protein is great for the building and recovery of muscles. Taking protein in your off time is what makes your workout count. It uses all the hard work to supply your muscles with the nutrients it needs. Protein in general is great (i love to eat raw oats) but it is worthless without the 1st part of this post which is the workout intensity. I believe protein bars are CRAP and that you should stay away from them. There are two types of whey. Isolate and concentrate. When shopping for whey protein try to get something with like 90% isolate and 10% concentrate. I believe concentrate is where the fillers and other stuff come in, but isolate is pure whey (correct me if im wrong). Rarely will you find 100% isolate. I can usually get 2 10 lb tubs for about $100. I usually dont mind what I get as long as I check the ingredients first. Right now I'm taking Bioplex Whey Plex which also has glutamine in it. It's got 22 grams of protein per scoop. It's not very advertised and comes in a tub that isn't all flashy so it may be a good protein source, maybe not, you be the judge. It tastes ok, but you can opt for a more expensive container of this stuff that has flavor added and tastes great.
Not my #3) Multivitamins- Energy, health, recovery, and increases the effect of supplements. Not much to it, I get the GNC sports pack but there are so many out there and you can't really go wrong.
3) Creatine- Not great for runners but adds intensity and strength to your workouts, and also makes you look a whole lot better after your workouts (called a pump). The misconception that all creatine does is pump your muscles with water is only part true. It does this, but it does other things including increasing your muscle mass. Recently I was injured and had to take about a month off of lifting (no creatine for the month =( ).. but I found I lost a little bit but not a whole lot of muscle. The day I started back up lifting I took creatine and gained it all right back and had only lost a minimum amount of strength (due to not lifting more than likely). I've never had anything give me pumps like Nanovapor and that is my choice for creatine (has much other stuff as well) but if you know of something let me know!

According to me, the 3 vital supplements which I love are:
1 - Whey Protein Powder because its a must for fulfilling basic protein requirements.
2 - A good fat burner as it keeps your metabolic rate elevated and gives u a boost.
3- N02 + Creatine blend as it enhances performance and gives you results worth your efforts.

i'd say my top 3 are more like groups of suppliments
1, Whey and casien(sp?) protien shakes
2, Pro-hormones and PCT drugs
3, Meal replacement packs, preferably ones including omega 3 and 6
To be honest those are the only things that I use anyway. My pro hormones made the bigest impact, but it's a real chore getting checked by the doctor every month.
As said before, totally depends on what works for YOU,regardless of what other people think or say.

ISO Pure Protein - Love the taste love that it has no sugar, it doesnt have as many carbs as the typical protein powder does but you can get carbs from any other source as long as your knowledgeable about your macronutrients.
CLA with Tonalin - In just a short month on this product I have seen an incredible muscle tone and fat retention prevention (lol) around my stomach area and everywhere else. Combined with my other supplement is also a great help.
Omega 3 Fish Oil - Both this and the CLA with Tonalin and also garlic have helped me reduce my bodyfat and bellyfat and overall bodyfat drastically, while sparing muscle loss too. Great combo and they are safe supplements that aren't a steroidal substitue for those who wish to continue on there all natural path to success! :D

a great multivitamin- you cant go wrong with it. It fills in the gaps where you might be missing quality nutrients in your meals. which is important and its foundation of supplementation. we have to make sure that we are giving are body what it needs before giving it what we want.
protein powder- sometimes its impossible to throw in quality food in our diets, plus it boosts the metabolism and aids in quality and the right percentage of protein in our bodies
Essential oils- like multivitamins its good for the entire system and its natural. it serves as many benefits for the body including improving the immune system, fat burning utilization, and its anabolic plus it helps the body regulate protein better which you cant go wrong with
