View Full Version : Thinking of competition again...

In 1990 I had a goal that I would compete in Fitness before the age of 35. At 31, I finally got a horse (wanted one my whole life), which led to several other horses, and learning to barrel race. The horses and working 16 hours a day pretty much fill up all of my time.

When my good horse went lame this year, I started reevaluating my priorities. My stress level at work isn't good. I weighed 135 on a 5'6" frame that looks decent at 120. And I'm now coming up on age 37 in December. Funny...I still think I'm 25, and I still get carded for booze. I begin to speak of women, in guessing their ages, as "she's got to be pushing 40", then I realize that I AM PUSHING 40! LOL

So I started working out again August 23, and started cleaning up my diet on September 7. And here I am, 7 pounds lighter already, and thinking about competing again. This time, the decision will be Fitness vs. Figure. And with gymnastics not being my strong suit......LOL

I'll be able to work out more consistently when I am working from home full time, which should be within 6 months, but will phase in faster than that. Until then, I'll do the best I can with the time available.

And thus begins my journal here....

The weight is coming off slower now, which makes me feel MUCH better. Being an ectomorph, I was worried I was losing muscle too, because I was losing too quickly.

Yesterday's workout was abs in the a.m., Nordic Trak and stretching in the p.m.

Slept in this a.m.

Yesterday's food intake:

Meal 1:Trioplex bar, Cinnamon Raisin Roll, 6:30 a.m.

Snack: Fuji apple, 7:30 a.m.

Meal 2: 1/2 a Smores Trioplex bar (got tied up in meetings and with payroll, so couldn't cook my eggs til later...wouldn't normally eat so many bars...they save me when I need it though!), 9:00 a.m.

Meal 3: 6 scrambled egg whites, 11:00 a.m.

Meal 4: Albacore tuna on 2 slices 9 grain bread, with mustard, 2:00 p.m.

Snack: Fuji apple, 3:00 p.m.

Meal 5: Whey Best in skim milk, 5:30 p.m.

Water Consumption: 135 oz.

9/17/04 Meals:

Meal 1: Trioplex cinnamon raisin roll, 6:30 a.m.

Meal 2: 6 egg white omlette, with cilantro and red bell pepper inside, 8:30 a.m.

If you are trying to cut down I would probably reconsider two bars a day (esp tri-o-plex bars!!) these are really just glorified candy bars... Is there anyway you could replace them with real food?

Yes, and believe me, I hated to start my journal with these 2 days!!! LOL I bought the Trioplex bars as an "emergency only" type of 40/30/30 to cart around with me, and I had 2 straight days of hell! (Which isn't all that uncommon actually!)

I would MUCH RATHER use real food, and have my whey last thing in the day. I need to make a grocery run, and hope to post much better days from now on!!! LOL

Thanks!

I'm moving my journal over to Ms. Fit's site.
