Uneven Plates

I just bought a olympic weight set from Sports Authority and the next day when i was benching i felt that one side was heavier. I checked, same amount of plates on each side. I weighed the plates, one 45lb plate weighed 50lbs.

I'm pretty sure this isn't that rare, so I'm just wondering what you guys did if you had this problem. I am considering returning it but that would just be a bitch.

Tell the dealer from whom you bought this and if you have some sort of receipt of if you bought this recently, they should refund you or exchange it...

I am considering returning it but that would just be a bitch.If one of the 45 pound plates weighed in correctly at 45 pounds, and the other plate was 5 pounds heavier, thats an unacceptable difference. I'd ask to exchange it.

get a 5 lb plate and put it on the other side hehe =]

Try to exchange it and ask them if you can weigh it before you bring it home.

Generally, cheap brands aren't always going to be accurate. If you want really accurate weights then you have to cough up some cash for brands like Ivanko.

Ask for exchange. Never would of thought to actually check that the weights listed on the plate are acurate. Thanks for the heads up.

Cheaper plates are often off a little on the weight, but I've never encountered a 5 lb difference on a 45. I did buy a pair of 45's once, got them home, and then noticed that one was larger than the other. I just took the smaller one back and checked the rack until I found a bigger one.
