Xbox or PS2?

I realize this will probably erupt into a flamewar faster than most stuff in the Religion/Politics section, but I'm looking for people's opinions on what system to get. I'm interested mostly in sports (football) and RPG games.

Sounds like me. ALl i play is EA Sports ****, Final Fantasy ****, and of course GTA

Ps2. the Xbox controller is HORIBLE!

console wise, xbox is better. Plus it's much easier to mod if you wanna do that.

One of the many benefits of modding it would be to get a bigger harddrive, and put games on it.
For instance, i went to blockbuster and got a gamepass for 1 month which was $20. I was allowed to take out 1 game at a time, it didnt matter how long i had the game or anything. So i would get the game, copy it to my harddrive, than bring it back to blockbuster and get another game. I got 30-35 games this way, all for $20. I saved alot of money, considering a game is about $40 - $50 each.


But, if you're talking which console is better game wise, probably PS2. I think theres a bigger selection of games for PS2 than there is for Xbox.

I wouldn't make the controller the deciding factor though. I actually like the xbox controller.

i dont understand what you said about the hard drive thing..i have xbox and that sounds like an excellent idea..do you think you could give me a link or some info on this?

xbox-scene.com also has a great forum too. But use search button on their forums before you ask what might be a newbie type question. People there get pissed when questions get asked over and over again.

you could do it for ps2 also
on HDD and then get a PS2 loader disk for $30 and load your games. I know a person who did that to 60 games, now he is getting another hard drive for it to add more games.

PS2

Has more games, and has good graphics. The controll is great unlike X-Box's.
It comes with great tiles like Socom, GTA, GT, Madden, and Meteal Gear solid. The PS2 is also better because its lighter and its smaller. The DVD you don't need to buy stuff like you do for X-Box. PS2 is the number one selling system because its made by Sony which is going to last. X-box is being made by microsoft which is just week and there are problems with it just like windows, my x-box used to freeze alot of times and my PS2 never froze.

My final word is.

The PS2 is a exelent for gameing gaming. Yes, the X-Box is a more tempting option, but it lacks the great games collection of games that PS2 has.

i got my my ps2 like 5x frozen, if you get the newer version [2003 and on] you wont have any problems.

The only time i got it was when i tried to cheat online useing gameshark or useing glitches in socom 2

FPS on console blows donkey schlong. I've got my computer for those sorts of games (btw, Doom 3 looks pretty and its kind of scary but other than that isn't that great). Thanks for the help so far guys, keep it coming.

i don't know much about modding a PS2, but when i researched about which console i wanted i read that installing the PS2 mod chip was much more difficult. That's why most people mod xbox's compared to PS2's, because it's easier.



The argument taken from your site isn't really a good one in my opinion...you never even back up anything that is said.
- Yes PS2 has more games, but xbox's graphics and overall system is better compared to PS2.
- How the controller feels to you is diffrent for each person, some like it, some don't. I happen to like it though.
- I'm not really much of a gamer, but aren't most, if not all of thoes games on xbox too? If they're not, they probably will be out for xbox soon, no? I know for sure that GTA is on xbox...
- Size really doesn't mean anything to me...i dont carry around my xbox, and i'm sure its the same for most other people as well. But even so, just because the PS2 is smaller doesn't mean it's better..
- If you mod your xbox, you don't need to buy the DVD stuff.
- Sony is just as ****ty as MS. Just because it's made by MS doesnt mean its 'week'. My xbox has NEVER froze and i haven't had any problem at all with it.

yea it only freezes when i cheat online because i get cought
i got banned twice from Socom bc of cheating, but it never froze when i obeyed the rules

the xbox didn't start out with too many great games, but neither did the ps2. now, the system has a good selection of games with even more best-sellers coming out. to the person making the arguement about buying a dvd remote...keep in mind that you have to buy memory cards for the ps2 in order to save your games which, in the long run, will cost more than the $30 remote.

the xbox is a superior system no doubt about it. but, it's all up to your video game preference. browse around and check which titles you would like to play.

In that case i'd go with an xbox. With xbox live sports games are insane and the graphics on xbox are much better than PS2. You won't be able to play FF, but xbox has some huge RPGs comming out in the next few months. Starting with Fable in Sept, KOTOR2 in Dec, and Jade Empire shortly after that.

The better console is always the one with the best library of games. In general, the PS2 has one of the best libraries of any console generation, and if you're looking for RPGs it becomes a no-brainer. It's also backwards-compatible.

Have fun with it if you choose it, it's still my favorite console (over snes, n64, or 360).
