Whats the right way to do push-ups.I use to do them all the time
but now when I do them I can't feel it in my chest like I use to.
so when I do them how far apart should my hands be and should my hands be even with my sholders or what .

use a grip that is about 4 inches wider than shoulder grips and be sure to keep your back straight and feet together.

Play around with elbow positioning. Usually chest will be hit best when shoulders are out with the arms perpendicular to the rest of the body. Also try moving your hands to a wider stance- that should move some of the pressure off the triceps and onto the chest.

Try positioning your hands in a more raised place - if you have some of those push-up handles, they work great! That forces your chest to go bellow your hands in the "down" position, creating more of a stretch and more intensity in your chest.

You can try doing them with elbows flared and legs elevated. Basically I'm saying incline pushups create more force for your chest to press.

Being a former parrot tropper, I know alot about push-ups.

If you want to feel it again you got to go to total failure...I mean TOTAL! You'd be amazed how many you can really do, by like starting with a wide press and then when you get tired switch to narrow, then to medium.

I punish my boys with push-ups(condition the mind and body:))
Mark Jr. is up to 75 good ones.

One thing to watch out for that has nothing to do with the width of your grip, is to make sure that you're not using your deltoids too much in the movement. People often make this mistake in the Bench Press (and variations of) too. If you find that your shoulders are pushing forward, past the line of your pecs at the point of maximum contraction then your delts are coming into play too much. That wasn't a very good explaination of what I mean but I hpoe you know what I'm talking about...
