They'll probably move threads into here that don't fit. It will result in a cleaner female chat area/main area.

Funny, your post reminds me of Crestor and Damastaryu - my very own Misc e-stalkers......never actually original - just the standard "you're fat" comments. Duh, like I didn't already know?????

Damastaryu takes the cake - has admitted that he has never set foot in a gym and spends the majority of his time sleeping and playing some dumb computer game - not WoW, but I'm betting it's something similar.

Crestor - just an ignorant idiot. To think that I even offered him some helpful advice once upon a time. No, his red neg rash is not from me, he has obviously ticked off enough others that I don't need to waste my skittles on him.

Always good humor.......never any actual intelligent thought from either one.

With misc. guys like that (especially most of them being skinny twigs), I just assume they don't work out and ignore them because they most likely signed up on these forums for t3h miSc, or to look for advice on how to get hY00gE bIcEpTz/chest/defined abs.

I think ur a ugly idiot, get out of the us, go back to asia, I hope I ruin ur day. If not I don't care get out of the usa chinky. ur fat.

Welllll.................let's just say we got in more cardio last night than this morning and leave it at that.

My ankle has been bugging me since I twisted it on Saturday at a wedding - see blog for details - and each morning I get up and TRY to run, but it's not working out so well, better luck tomorrow! Swelling seems to be going down some today, but it is a rather interesting shade of bluish/greenish/yellowish bruising. Thank god it didn't interfere with my squats last night! I did; however, skip the leg press.

Hey Stell - you need to get one of these nifty newfangled Misc gathering card thing-a-ma-bobs......

Remember the Tandy vs Commodore 64 wars?!! Kinda like Apple and Microsoft now ;)

Mine is the grey case model with extended color basic. It had a whole 16 KB of RAM when I got it which I upgraded to 64 KB with the addition of some 4164 chips. I also took out the square key keyboard and put a real one in it and added my own S-Video output to it in place of the poxy RF modulated output.

Later on, I added my own analog i/o board to it. I then built a laser control circuit with custom built x/y scanners and two Huges industrial Helium-Neon laser tubes and made a laser lightshow which was controlled by the Tandy from the audio outputs of my stereo. I wrote an assembly language program so I could make the laser react in different ways and produce some pretty cool effects.
That was waaaay back in 1988. I was 17 at the time.

I still have all those bits and the laser tubes still work too!!

Yep :)

So..............Your middle name is Macgyver? Just reading you've done with your system is amazing.

In North America it was no contest, Commodore 64 owned the market hands down. Actually, people use to make fun of Tandy because it came from Radio Shack. Radio Shack wasn't really considered the most prestigious retailer at the time. I had the second generation version of the C64. Using Sega Master system gamepads for the controls: Load"Gianna Sisters",8,1

That's classic of the TRS-80 vs C64 mindsets!!!!

I remember writing a very simple routine to make my TRS-80 play a song and aksing a friend to do the same on the C64.
Well, what took one line of code for a complete verse on the Tandy took 10 lines of code for one note on the C64!!!! :p

Actually, in reality, they both had their good and bad points. Programmers tended to go for the Tandy and gamers tended to go more for the C64...at least where I come from that was the case.

The very first computer I learnt to program was the Dick Smith System 80 which was based on a Z80 CPU and had a whopping 4KB of RAM!! Then we got Microbee's which were pretty cool. Then I got my TRS-80 and I thought all Christmas's had come at once......
....then there was the Apple IIc and IIe with Turtle graphics :)
(Actually, the Microbee had Turtle graphics too)

.....Jeez, if it wasn't for the fact that I am posting this on bodybuilding.com, I'd feel like such a nerd!!!

I think from memory, apart from i/o address differences and a few other small things, that model had a VERY similar BASIC instruction set to the TRS-80.

The very first thing I learnt to do in BASIC -

5 cls
10 input "What is your name?":a$
20 if a$="" then 50
30 print "Hello, ";a$;". Nice to meet you."
40 goto 40
50 print "You seem a little shy."

PS3 is currently at a rip off price, and I don't care how advanced it is, I wouldn't pay silly money for it. Mind you, I havent touched a console for nearly a year. It's been the PC all the way.

Agreed about the price. In a year or so BluRay players will have 10 times the features of current PS3's and be half the price.
While I'm talking BluRay, I really hope it ends up winning over HDDVD. It is a much better format. Sony might have screwed up with SACD (DVDa is much better) but they have it right with BluRay.

You know, I don't believe there is going to be a winner for any new format. The formats we already have is enough technology for most people. I say this because people have no problem with the fact that "MP3" technology is technically less superior to the 'Red Book" cd audio standard. Hence the failure of 'DVD Audio' and 'SACD'.

The main consumer market can't tell a difference with MP3/CD audio over DVD Audio/SACD. So nobody is going to pay the high prices for the new formats (I speak from the North American side of this). BlueRay and HD-DVD will be like DVD R/RW +/-, they will both co-exist. This is because again, the general market won't care to compare the the formats for quality. In most people's minds, regular DVD quality is fine. So there will just be combo HD-DVD/BlueRay players developed eventually.

The visual and audio technology has basically 'plateaued' with consumers. The industry really can't make any new technology in those areas that will cause the major changes that original 'CD's, DVD's and VHS made in the beginning -30-

Unfortunately, and very sadly for those of us who create music, your comments on most consumers and mp3's is true. :(
However, I beg to differ on BluRay. Over the past 12 - 18 months, HD TV sales have started to really take off over here (Australia) and even the mass market chains are now selling BluRay technology and movies. All the major TV stations here now are also broadcasting in high def and the sales of high def handy cams has taken off too.
Perhaps this will be the saving grace for audio enthusiasts who actually care about the quality of what they are listening to. I certainly hope so. I have invested considerable amounts of time and money in setting up my studio for 5.1 high definition audio production and am remixing all my SuperPuss songs in 5.1 format. All my live shows will also be presented in multi channel surround and recorded live that way too. :)

I hear you on the HDTV/DVD format front. I know that HDTV was was setup in the eastern Continents light years before North America. I'm waiting until the next generation of BluRay comes out and the prices fall. For now, I'm happy to stick with my Pioneer SACD / DVDa player. I am WAY impressed with the quality of the D/A converters in it. They sound damn near the same as professional studio gear (think Apogee!!).
Besides, I just spent a pile of money on a new Roland TD12 based V-Drums drum kit and am about to install a high def projector and motorised screen for my studio. :)

BluRay does offer a ton more options as far as audio only high def media is concerned. Particularly when used with DTS HD Master Audio. That is capable of 7.1 channel, 24 bit / 96 KHz audio bit identical to the original master

Do you know why the sales are so high? It's because CRT is dead, so there is no other choice but LCD and Plasma anyway. But most consumers don't know anything about LCD and Plasma screens they are buying. They will just hook up their standard analog cable and think it's nothing special. They don't know for example, about using their PC's to watch their DVD's in high def resolutions while connected via DVI/HDMI.

Because of that lack of knowledge, BlueRay and HD-DVD formats aren't going to be a high priority on most consumers minds. Plus, alot of North Americans buy HDTV's only when the super bowl playoffs are on and then return the TV's when the series is over (eg. BestBuy/FutureShop)-30-

Hmmm... things would definitely appear to be significantly different over here. People seem to be a lot more aware of HDMI with some clever marketing in regards to simplicity of connection.
There's no doubt that crt's still look better than almost all LCD's and plasmas, especially (for LCD) as far as contrast ratio is concerned. A lot of plasmas tend to suffer from various degrees of solarisation and banding too but there is next to no high def crt based products on the market now.
My personal pick for home theatre is DLP projection and a decent screen. :)

The other big market for BluRay is data storage. Once the marketing gurus start hitting that one, I think people will start to take more notice.
BluRay burners and discs are already in most computer shops now but they are still too dear.

What I really find sad about the audio industry, is that commercially, they are still happy to record everything at 16bit 44.1KHz. All these consumer components we have, that are capable of playing 24bit 96KHz and you can hardly find source material that is actually produced and released at that quality. SACD and DVD-A failed big-time in North America, but even DVD movies are never recorded at 96KHz (or very rarely). I more notice this problem more in PC gaming.

Even when Blueray and HD-DVD are used to carry PC games, I bet all of the audio will still be MP3 encoded or limited to 16bit 48KHz -30-

If they buy from us and we install, we make sure they either get digital cable or Direc TV. We are High end Custom. We dont allow our customers to walk away without being educated. Keep in mind I do live in a Resort area, this could be why we see more sales. People tend to want the best around here. We have sold a few dozen Blu-ray players and not a single HD-DVD player. With the New 1080p TV's we are getting, the interest for the Blu-ray has risen. I watch HD channels every day here at work and after seeing several movies on the blu-ray, Its hard to watch anything in 480i/p. I hope Blu-ray wins out. I have the Sony KV-32HS500 http://i21.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/90/29/147e_1.JPG HDTV. I got it before Plasma was a common term in Canada. Now I'm so glad I didn't wait. The fact that CRT HDTV can do both interlace and progressive scan and is not fixed-pixel is very nice.

Marketing the BlueRay as data storage is going to be interesting, because Over here, double-sided DVDs aren't even being noticed by consumers. I think consumers are happy enough with the cheapness of high capacity hard drive storage, that they don't really care to hear about another optical disc as storage -30-

As a specialized dealer your customers will tend to be or want to be more knowledgeable about what they are buying. But the problem is that the mass market consumer out number the high-end/audiophile market and they don't have the patience to learn what technology they're buying into. BestBuy for example will let customers walk away uneducated, but they didn't want to learn anyway. That's why LG will win with combo players etc.

I think consumers are happy enough with the cheapness of high capacity hard drive storage, that they don't really care to hear about another optical disc as storage -30-
Very cool on the Sony
With other technologies (non crt), pixel mapping for non native resolutions can look pretty ordinary.

Interesting what you say about dual layer DVD over there. I just bought dad a dual layer Sata II Pioneer DVD burner for $35 brand new!! They are dirt cheap here and so are the discs.
